The button on his sleeve had come undone. Raiden frowned at it, and made a very valiant attempt at getting it done back up by himself, before Miles was talking to him again.

"Hmm? Oh." He smiled and took a step closer to them again, nodded to Fia. "I don't think we've actually properly met before, have we. In passing and stuff, but not directly."

...fiancée? Raiden had been speaking English since the age of three. He knew that word. He really did. And, very briefly, he wondered if maybe he'd learned it incorrectly, or if Miles was using it wrong. Surely that wasn't what he'd meant, right? Because... Miles and Fia were like... the same age as him. They were young. Fiancées were for persons older than they.

However, he didn't allow the confusion to show on his face. It was possible they were thinking about... marriage. His parents had gotten together when they were in University, so it wasn't unheard of. He'd... just never considered the idea before.

"Well, Cela did good," Fia complimented, noticing all the gel that was stuck to his hair. It was probably going to take lots of shampoo in the morning but for now, he was absolutely handsome. It was at that moment, lost in her thoughts when she heard Miles speak the word fiancee for the first time outside of the circle.

Fia swallowed rather largely and grinned for Raiden. "Yes. We are...engaged." Why was it so hard to speak of such things? It was strange, yes. They were young, yes. But there would never be another so perfect for her than Miles. He was her soulmate.

Miles smirked at Raiden as he spoke to Fia and his fingers tapped on his pants seam again. His eyes went toward Fia to see her reaction. Just as he thought he saw her hesitation in admitting it and glanced toward Raiden.

Looking thoughtful he leaned in toward Fia and whispered so only she could hear, "Fi...think about it...if you can't boast to random people our good news how do you think it'll go when we have to tell my parents...or your dad." His eyes met hers and he raised an eyebrow. He really wished she would just realize it was going to happen and not look like she was swallowed something weird every time he brought it up.

Turning his attention back toward Raiden he shrugged, "We're engaged but we're not getting married til after school ends for us and we graduate." He felt the need to explain so as Fia would ease up a bit.

Fia closed her eyes for a moment. She really had to watch her reactions every time their engagement was brought forward. Her nerves always seemed to take over as it was something to worry about for just a moment, wondering what others thought. She nodded her head in agreement with Miles. "I know."

And when he put it into words that they were waiting until after school, every time it seemed to get easier. "Yes, yes. After school. We haven't told too many people." Namely, their family.

Oh. Apparently Miles had meant to use that word. And it definitely did mean what he'd thought it meant. So... they were engaged. They wanted to get married. And stuff like that.

It wasn't the first time Raiden had heard about someone thinking about marriage at their age. Cela had mentioned it to him before, after all. He just... hadn't thought of it in relation to people he knew. Because somehow, in his head, none of them had even gotten near the age where marriage was something to think about.

Maybe it was just him.

"Well... congratulations," he said, smiling brightly at both of them. "I think... it's probably the best idea, to wait til after school is over? I mean... it's hard enough being a student, but being married and a student is probably about a million times more difficult."

Because marriage took a lot out of a person, apparently. From what he'd been told and come to understand. Heh.

Arya fussed with her outfit as she walked through the Entrance Hall, a small frown on her face. She loathed the silver dress, from the sleeves that weren't long enough to the bow in the front. Why was she even here anyway? She had never voluntarily went to any dances back home, so what made this one any different? Her eyes flickered to the decorations. Oh yea, that was why. She wanted to see the finished job her group had done. From what she could see it looked amazing.

Spotting a small crowd under the crest, she made her way over still absently fussing with the dress, though not as much since curiosity had taken hold of her. The little puff greeted all her professors, throwing in a few complements as well before steping over to her classmates as friends. Them she had never seen looking so radiant. Raiden she had seen dressed nice once before and Cela always looked nice, but seeing them dolled up had a smile creeping on her face. "Hey guys, you both look really great." She sent a wave over to Miles and the older Hufflepuff girl before letting her eyes float back to Cela's dress. It was so sparkle and shiny that is almost made her forget she was wearing one of her own. Almost.

Miles stopped himself from pursing his lips as he saw Fia close her eyes. Looking at Raiden he nodded, "Yeah you're right." Hmmm... He looked at Fia and then back at Raiden, "Hey I'll see you later Raiden."

Looking at Fia he nodded to a section with no one and away from the growing crowd in the entrance. He needed to talk to her away from prying ears.

"Thanks Arya, I like your dress, its so pretty." Honest. Cela hearted bows. And it had one very important thing about it... it would still allow for tree climbing and thats something Celandine would have kept in mind when it came to choosing a dress at Arya's age.

It was possible that Cela's eyes were juust beginning to flicker impatiently at the door. She was waiting for someone after all, but she still had a duty to do.

Arya dared to steal a glance at her dress when Cela complemented it. She still hated the thing, wanted out as soon as magicaly possible which..could be pretty fast. Her mind wondered for a moment at the thought. "Thanks Cela," Lacing her fingers behind her back to keep from fussing with the bow, she allowed her eyes to glide over all the decorations. "Are you waiting for someone?" Cause why else would they be standing in the hall.

Apparently Raiden had been right to leave them alone the first time, because now Miles was all serious business and stuff... hmm. He gave them a nod and stepped away, only to be met by the sight of little Arya. All dressed up and pretty and he couldn't help but smile at the way she was fiddling with her bow

"Don't often see you dressed up like that, do we," he said, patting Arya's shoulder. "You look really pretty."

Arya grinned at Raiden's comment. "Nope, don't care to dress up." She fiddled with her fingers behind her back. She wanted the bow gone. Like...now. "Thank you, Raiden. You look really nice too. I like the tie." She did. It matched her dress, material and all. She liked silk, it was good for sliding down and around things.

Nia, it had to be said, was now thinking her dress was a bit...well what, she wasn't sure. In the shop she'd fallen in love with it, and now she was having a moment of doubt. What if it was too dressy, or too full skirted or something? Maybe she should have gone for the more understated black number with the turquoise sash. Hmm... She tried to put her thoughts aside, reminding herself that she had every right to look good, and she loved this dress whatever...and that maybe people would be pleasantly surprised with the transformation from athletic quidditch captain to an elegant young lady. Or something along those lines.

Reaching the rest of the receiving line, Nia fiddled with a drop earring before smiling at the gold sight before her. Cela's dress was amazing, and it helped clear some of Nia's own worries. The Head Girl had obviously made an effort and got an amazing dress, so Nia could too. Sorted.

"You look gorgeous," Nia said, stepping closer to Cela. Already she was glad her dress was floor length, and so she'd opted for the slightly flatter more comfortable shoes since they didn't show. The most trying bit probably coming down the stairs from the Ravenclaw Common Room. "A beautiful dress, and I love the clutch too."

She glanced round, and smiled at the Slythie Prefect too. It was weird seeing the boys all done up in suit and tie. Good, but odd.

And just as Cela had thought, Nia had definitely delivered. Cela shot a triumphant look at Vindictus. He should be proud. Team Ravenclaw were awesome on the inside and the outside.

"Thank you." Celandine smiled widely enough that it almost hurt. It was clear she'd been practicing her Vindictus!Smile. She looked at Nia's dress again. "I love the blue and the ruffles!" It was definitely flattering. Celandine tipped her head to one side and gave Raiden a look. One of those lookhowprettyNiais kind of looks. And yes she had a specific one.

"I needed somewhere to keep my wand." Celandine added conspirationally, indicating the clutch.

Celandine blushed a little. "Yes I am waiting for my date." She lowered her voice, "But I have to stand here for a while and greet people as they arrive, so I hope he doesn't arrive too soon." Unless of course, Professor Vindictus and Headmaster Tate didn't mind her sneaking off a bit earlier? Miles had already slipped away, Cela had noticed that.

Bella walked, nervously into the entrance hall towards the recieving line of staff and head boy and girl. She was wearing a simple pink dress that flowed down her slender body and to the ground. She had no date, and no one to walk with. She ringed her hands together as she took anotehr step forward. Her hair was simple, bouncing slightly as she walked. Half up and half down, wavy but curly at the same time, a simple white flower sat on the right hand side of her hair, setting it off nicely.

She looked behind her, still wondering how a fourteen year old could'nt get a date to a simple but popular dance of the school. Taking a deep breath she stepped forward.

"H-Hi" She said nervously to the nearest person. At least she would get a dance, right?

Pierre walked up to the school. I can't believe I'm doing this. I didn't even know that many people. Still, he was here. And apparantly there was a whole greeting line. Well, let's get this over with.

He walked up to the receiving line and smiled at them. "Hello," he said politely as he passed the Headmaster. He was really not looking forward to going inside just yet. He hoped that he could find Torin or that Iris girl once he got inside. Hopefully, he would not see the Cartwright kid. That would just make this evening horrible.

Maura walked up towards the receiving line, all dressed up and ready for a ball. She wished she'd gotten a date, but it might be fun even without one. Maybe.
When the boy in front of her stopped in font of the doors, Maura stopped too, and smiled at the receiving line. "Hello," she said. "I can't believe this is my last year here, and it's almost over. It happened so fast!" She smoothed down her dress over her stomach and took a deep breath, ready to go inside. Then she spotted her friend Bella.

She ran up to her. "Wow! You look amazing!" she said.

Bella turned around at the sound of a voice behind her, she smiled at her friend once she had turned.

"You look amazing too Maura!" She declared giving her friend a hug

"Are you ready for our mission tonight?" She joked with her as she waited. She just knew she was going to have the time of her life tonight, though she still hoped to dance.

Of course she had used a potion. Of course. Her hair flowed down till her waist, maybe even a little below it, curling slightly at the tips. Gold's green eyes were bright as, clutch in hand, she finally arrived. Thankfully, she wasn't late. Sure, some people were already there but, considering official times and stuff, Gold wasn't late.

"Good evening, Headmaster." She resisted the urge to tell Headmaster Tate he looked pretty. Like a kitten. Cute and fuzzeh and warmish, right? Of course, he looked classy too. He usually did. Speaking of classy, where was Professor Truebridge? HEEE was classy as well.

But ah well, she would worry about that later. She had other stuff on her mind, right now. Like not running into certain people, and wondering where two certain Hufflepuffs were. Both of whom would, she knew, look simply stunning. "You look lovely, Cel," she said, beaming at Cela as she made her way over to the group. "You look good too, Rai." Except, he didn't look lovely. Handsome, yes, but not lovely.

She said cheerful hello's to a couple of people, waved to a few others, and stood there, looking happy in general.

"Thanks," said Maura, returning the hug. "I'm serious though. I love the dress! And your hair. I might have to put a little more makeup on you, though," she said with a giggle.

"I sure am! Let's go get 'em," she said with a little smile.

Madsdie smiled as she walked down the line, shaking peoples' hands. She was quite used to this now, considering the amount of balls and functions her mother had forced her to attend. But this one should be far more entertaining and fun. Because her frineds were here. Smiling still, she smoothed her robes slightly.

Torin had never been to one of these things before, so he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing here.

He saw his fellow Prefects and some Professors talking to people, but Sarah wasn't anywhere that he could see. So he wasn't really sure where he was supposed to be standing. He just planted himself somewhere, probably looking like a total idiot.

"Oh yeah, im not very good with make-up sorry" She touched her face lightly, "Have you got any on you?" She asked smiling lightly. She didn't want to repel boys at this dance, "And thank you" She added.

"this is going to be so much fun!" She delcared giggling.

While Pierre was waiting to go in, he spotted a familiar face. He started to walk towards Torin, who looked like he was somewhat out of place. He hadn't seen him in forever. "Hey Torin." His accent only a hint now in his voice. Yes, it was still there, but hardly. "How've you been?" He hoped that Torin remembered him. It would be awkward if he didn't.

Oh this... this was going to be so embarrassing.

They had to stand with the Professors and greet people as they came in? Were they important enough for that? It felt like some Royal occassion, and Sarah wasn't sure she should be there. Especially as she was a dork at social functions.

Spotting Torin stood by himself, she breathed a sigh of relief. At least her fellow Huffie wasn't occupied at that moment. Walking over to him, she cleared her throat to let him know she was there, before turning her head to whisper. "Why are we doing this bit?"

While awaiting a reply, her eyes darted about between the people assembled and chatting. Everyone looked so nice in their evening dress/suits. Looking down, Sarah raised an eyebrow at her own outfit. Was it good enough? Gladrags had been fairly useless, and she'd had to resort to asking her mum to send her catalogues, so she could order it through them and get it owled over. Sigh.

Melissa put a smile on her face as she went through the Entrance Hall. She kept it the whole time she walked. She wasn't the girl who went crazy over these things well she did like them but she didn't go mad and rush to the nearest dress shop as soon as she heard about this. Nope.

She walked and still managed to keep her smile when she looked at the receiving line. Well she did had to smile, no one was going to damper her mood. They could but she was going to have fun. She hoped...

"Hello," she spoke to them all in the receiving line.
