Oliver raised his hand. “Well to put a positive spin on this I reckon it could be helpful. To make you appreciate what you've got.” Lafay had said something about curing them of the fear of the ugly before, right?

Nothing would happen. Fine then. Oliver was happy to do this.

A fatty potion, a fatty potion! This was going to be SO MUCH FUN! He puffed his cheeks out, trying to imagine how they would all look as chubbies. Also, it would be so useful to know! Eli was excited.

At least, he was excited until that other kid - the stuttering one - mentioned stretch marks. What the what? That would be weird. There was probably a spell or a charm they could do to get rid of them though, right?

He felt relieved that the professor said there were no ill effects. Back to excited, then. A fatty potion, joy! Eli swung his legs happily, puffing his cheeks out again.

He raised his hand at the professor's question.

This is going to be so amazing! I mean, it's useful for pranks, first of all. Like, it's something you could sneak into the pumpkin juice of people who are vain and mean to you." he shot the she-snakes a THIS MEANS YOU look.

"Orrrrr, if you were too skinny or something, it could maybe save your life from dying of no food. Also, if you had a pair of pants that were just a little too big and you didn't want to do or couldn't do a tailoring charm, you could get out your fatty potion and SHAZZAM! BIG BELLY TIME! Your pants would never fall down again. Oh, and it would be useful if you weren't a good swimmer, because fat is all floaty." He beamed, feeling QUITE clever. This was going to be great. Of course, he probably would fail at the brewing part, but he was pretty good at the thinking parts. Theory over practice and all that.

Well no, the Professor didn't stutter. Her own mind however was all fuzzy and she couldn't understand WHYYYYYYY they had to brew this potion! She wouldn't be able to concentrate knowing that she was going to be fat at the end of the class period!! Dangit!

And that Ravie kid was starting to get on her nerves. He was lucky that he as sitting at the front of the class. "You could use it to disguise yourself I guess." she said, that being the only thing said that the Ravie kid hadn't. Eesh. "Even if just barely." Mmhmm. Blend in with the crowd. All ninja like.

She needed to stop hanging around Destiny once in awhile. Her inner monologue was starting to sound like her.

Trixie kinda went silent as the professor told them what they were doing. A what? She looked around for the nearest escape route. Trixie Malfly didn't do changing her appearance. I mean loosing her hair last time was bad enough. So the girl took in a deep breath and put on a fake smile. "Will be interesting I guess" she replied. Although she had no idea why they would be doing it. "I agree with Oliver" the girl said. She was just gonna stick by Oliver now. Well, he knew how much her appearance meant to her. "And I think that it could be used as education, to teach people not to be mean and stuff." she said shuffling closer to Olliwolliver

...great. So far the suggestions were cruel, unnecessary responses to vanity and horrible practical jokes. Was this really what potions classes had been reduced to? Really?

"I have doubts it would replace the need for you to eat," he said flatly, looking at the Ravenclaw kid. He'd seen the pointed look at the Slytherin girls, and it wasn't difficult to tell that he didn't approve. "You'd still be starving, I'd wager, if you'd been in that state before taking it."

Bodies required nutrition, sustenance, to keep living. Not massive wells of fat unceremoniously added to them. Food was needed if you were starving, at the easiest level. And if you were somewhere starving, what were the chances you'd have such a potion on you in the first place?

And spells to re-fit clothes were far easier and less time-consuming than this potion would be. So far, Raiden was still seeing it for what it was. The professor had introduced the lesson by asking what girls were afraid of. That was obviously her line of thinking while planning this, then. This was just another way for her to embarrass and upset some of the students.

Great. Just great.

Eli's face fell. Why did the Slytherins always want to pick on him?

Besides, if you had fat on your body you couldnt starve, your body would have something to use for fuel. Right? Maybe? He honestly didn't know.

Embarrassed at being told off by the Slytherin prefect, he slouched low in his chair, trying to make himself smaller and hoping the professor wouldn't think his ideas were stupid like the Prefect did. Though she was Slytherin, too, probably- she was mean enough to be- so probably she would.

"Probably just wants to fatten up the students anyway, so we're tastier after she roasts us." he thought bitterly to himself.

Oh no. What if that was it? What if that was her plan? They could all be in a lot of danger!

A Potion that will make us fat??? This was one of her worst nightmares. She eats a healthy diet and stuff so she never really thought this could happen to her..
For the sake of a grade.. she kept repeating to herself.
"Erm.. you could use this to uh.. make yourself warmer? I mean like blubber?" that was the only thing that popped into her head. What a weird answer.. she thought.

"A fattening potion? What in the world...."Zane thought to himself. He tried to rack his brain as hard as he could, thinking of every possible answer. "Umm...I like the disguise idea, or if you're say, an Auror, it could help you if people know your name and description, but not the way you actually look." he said after raising his hand.

See? SEE, she totally knew what she was talking about. Though, yeah, not really a fear.
But Miranda looked satisfied that she had been somewhat right.


But....eh?
Fattening potion!? That was weird. Miranda didn't particularly have a fear of putting on wheight. That only meant she had been able to eat lots of delicious things. Which was a GOOD thing.


The Slytherin prefect's question made her look at the boy...and start to ponder. Well...indeed.

Miranda raised her hand. "Professor, maybe someone in need of getting some extra wheight could find this useful."

Other than that... "Professor, what IS this potion good for?" To fatten up the turkey or something? Meh, poor things

"Precisely." She said. "It's a glamor potion that isn't glamorous at all." She said and winked at the boy.

"In a way you are right. It has been used for pranks, so think will allow you to smell and know the taste of this potion. But you Master Jarod are not taking any potion with you." All she needed was a Ravenclaw baby trying to make anyone drink his potion.

"Very good." She said. "It's used to disguise yourself when you can't use a charm. Actors use this potion all the time..."

"Very good." She said and smirked.

"Master Kururugi, do enlighten us on your theories, instead of putting down your classmates." She said looking at him... it was only a matter of time.

"Very good. If has been used for just that purpose." She said nodding.

"Not sure I understand you..." She said.

"Yes, it would be useful, all these reasons..." She said. "The most common being used when a patient at a hospital isn't large enough to withstand a procedure."

"So let's think of what ingredients could make you fat..." She said and then asked, "Can anyone tell me?"

Yeah, uhm. Cool. Miranda nodded and scribbled stuff in her notebook.

Ingredients that made you fat... Hmmm...
"Professor, how about chocolate?" She said with her hand raised. "And not the dark kind...but the one with lots of milk in it." Could be? Snort.

"Puffer fish eyes perhaps, it's used in the swelling potion which blows you up like a puffer fish which is pretty much becoming fat", Herminny replied sqinting, hr ys burning a bit from the horrible smell of what she now knew was th antidote, just great.

Emma looked at her notes. Huh, a potion that's supposed to make you fatter.. what a weird one. What ingredients would be in it?, she thought. She looked around the room and saw her cousin sticking up for Oliver. She wrote in her notes: Could be used as a disguise. She raised her hand to answer the Professor's question. "How about corn syrup?" she said. She remembered that foods that make you fat have a lot of sugars, and artificial additives.

Alex looked around she was average height and weight for an eleven year old girl, now the Professor wanted them to make a fattening potion? Did they have to drink it.. She hoped not. Alex secretly snickered in her mind at the chocolate, it was actually pretty healthy for the body as long as the person didn't over do it. She didn't know what ingredients made a person fat.. other then eating too much so maybe, "Sugar?" Alex asked raising her hand, "I mean Sugar can fatten a person considerably if they just constantly eat it." Alex knew it wasn't but it was the only thing she could think of that was logical.

...excuse you, Professor?

Raiden's eyes narrowed and he stared at the woman, clearly perplexed. In his head, he recounted the things he'd just said. And in those things, he found nothing that should have been taken offensively. He'd corrected a student's misled thoughts that being fat somehow kept you from starving to death.

"Pardon, Professor, but I fail to see how I was putting down a classmate. People who are overweight are still quite able to starve to death. The body needs nutrition, not just fat masses. I was just pointing out that it's probably not possible for this potion to stop you from dying if you're starving." He paused. "As for the usefulness of this potion, I believe I was the one that asked that question. I don't particularly approve of the idea of using it to punish vain people for being the way that they are, and I'm sure there are many other ways to teach people that they should be grateful for their bodies."

He shrugged.

"I just didn't understand what the uses of this potion could be, is all. When there are plenty of other ways to do it that are probably far quicker and easier."

As for ingredients... the prefect bit his lip and considered for a moment before volunteering an answer.

"Moke skin, ma'am. They can shrink at will, so one would assume they could also expand."

Eli turned around and shot the Prefect a look. A look that, to him, said she's gonna use it to fatten us up for the slaughter! The Slytherin prefect was probably first on the lady's list for talking back. Poor chap! He wanted to raise his hand; maybe if he answered well she would not target him as well. But it would probably be better to say nothing.

He had to get a message to Anni and the prefects, so they could all be rescued from the Evil Lafay. But how? The obvious: a note.

Eli took out his quill, pretending to take notes (ok, he actually took notes as well as a cover). But he also scratched a quick note on a tiny scrap of parchment:



He palmed the scrap of note, waiting until he could find a way to pass it back to Anni and Gold without LaFlame seeing him. Maybe he'd even give it to the Slytherin prefect, too. He was mean to Eli, sure, but surely he didn't want all these snakes to be in burned up like fat little piggies. Right?

Right?

Willow was glad to see the potions professor had not left. She rather liked her lessons. She raised her hand to answer the question "Would large amounts of sodium and sugar make you fat?"

Ellie wasn't liking where this class was going. Not at all. She didn't even want to come. But Eli had...so.. Well, she had to. So after giving him several elbows to the side for all his comments, she read his note over his shoulder and bit back a laugh. Merlin, they should NOT have come.

Eli sounded pretty sorry. Gold gave him a little smile, the kind that told him it was alright, and would have responded to Marie if Professor Lafay had not told her to return to her seat.

But she wanted to talk to Marie! She hadn't since ages, and Marie was nice and pretty and fun. Inward POUT.

"Yes, professor," Gold said, rising to her feet and returning to her seat, after giving Marie a little smile. Where she sat down next to Chris. Well, at least she could sit with Chris, again. Even though Eli sounded like a nice, though scared, kid. Gold still couldn't figure out what he was scared of, though. Probably Professor Lafay.

AND the lesson had started.

Time to tune out of all the other thoughts, and tune into what Professor Lafay was saying. Wait, fattening potion? EEK. Gold had never been fat. Biting on her lower lip, she raised a hand,

"Butter can make one fat," she suggested. Butter. It sounded like a yummy ingredient. Professor Kazimeriz had had a penchant of introducing potions that contained unique ingredients, such as kneazle breath and dew harvested from rose-petals, and a lot of other, lovely things. Though Gold was sure she had forgotten a few. ".... and herbal water." THAT was known to cause fatness. "There would probably be fluxweed in a fattening potion too, professor, since it's one of the most effective agents of change."

She lowered her hand.

Zane raised his hand again, "What I mean Profess Lafay is that if a Auror or Magical Law Enforcement has a picture in circulation in a foreign land, this potion that we're brewing can be used to disguise the person, without the worry about things like taking it every hour like polyjuice potion." He thought that sounded well thought out, but it was probably still wrong. "As for ingredients....what about animal fat, such as pork lard."

Really? This potion can keep you warm...

That was extremely random. Raising a brow, she looked down at her notebook, listening to the others and their answers on things that make people fat, the one most ringing in her head was, chocolate. Bleh. She still didn't understand how people can eat the stuff. "A lot of starch can make someone fat." she said after raising her hand. Also used as a thickening agent when cooking, however, she couldn't help the cringe at someone's answer of 'pork lard'. That's just gross.

Patroclus waved back at the totally awesome Gryffindor Prefect, one miss Gold Laksh, as he popped down into the spare seat next to his fellow lion Tori.
As Professor Lafay revealed the purpose of the lesson, Patroclus became undeniably ecstatic. He had always wondered what being fat would be like, here was his opportunity. Due to his family's excellent genes, and his love of sports and exercise, a fat Patroclus was a very unlikely future prospect, but not if Lafay had anything to say.
"Could Lard be a possible ingredient, as it is a biproduct of fat," Patroclus smiled as he answered, "or even Suet, the fat found in sheep kidneys, I know that is edible, due to its use in cooking, so it would have no severe adverse affects on us kids and our developing hearts".

Lucy was shock to see that she's going to make a potion that would make her fat. She didn't want to get fat. But was excited to make the potion to and to see how she would look if she got fat.

She raised her hand and said "How about chocolates, Professor?"

Nia rested her chin on her hand thoughtfully. She wasn't exactly sure how she felt about the whole getting fat thing. She'd always been lucky, one of those people that could eat what she wanted when she wanted, and still stayed her slim athletic build. Her Quidditch training probably had something to do with it too. As for this lesson, Ravenclaw needed points, so she'd try it. It could be a bit of a laugh too - as long as she could take the antidote before leaving the lesson.

Before answering the Professor's question, Nia had a question. She didn't feel she could think about ingredients, without knowing how the potion might work on the body. Was it an illusion of being fat, or did it swell the body?

She raised her hand. "How does the potion make the body fatter?" she asked, a curious look on her face. "I mean, does it swell the body...or is it more of an illusion...or is a fluid sent to the body in the muscles to make them bigger?" She stroked her quill under her chin. "Because the depending on the method of getting fatter, different ingredients make sense. For the swelling route, the puffer-fish eyes is the obvious choice, as has been mentioned...though Exploding Fluid from horn of the Erumpent - which would expand on explosion - might be useful in small amounts. Whereas the fluid method maybe you'd expect more oil and butter."

The potion was going to make him fat. This was not really acceptable since he liked his form yet it did not sound worse than what Kazimeriz did him last year. Plus there was an antidote, right? And he was sure that he'd still be handsome when he was fat. Hehehe. So there was nothing to be worried for...

Nevertheless he turned around to see Evelyn as the professor told her that the fear was showing itself. Evelyn was scared and if she was scared it was his duty to ake her relax. So hoping not to be seen he slowly moved close to her and whispered ''Don't worry Rose, i can drink yours if you'd like me to''
