"But the cunning of a Slytherin is just as important as the knowledge of a Ravenclaw. What good does knowledge do if it is not put to good use? Making Slytherin is nothing to frown upon." Severia said with a smile. She couldn't understand why so many of her new housemates would have rather been in any other house.
"It's a little more than that I'm sure you'd be happy to know, and that's why I'll tell you. I was, which will come as a shock I realize, deeply nervous about being seperated from my cousin. We have been like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern only intelligent and so I feel like a limb has been removed now that he's been conscripted elsewhere." Chaucer craned his neck to see if he could spot Kellen anywhere, but it was a futile effort. There were simply far too many students. Actually, there were far to many female students if their hair was any indication. "We both were fairly certain of our admittance into Slytherin and I in particular was quite excited. It's only a little stumble on the path to great glory, yes?" He decided a little ego boost was in order to keep indulging in self-pity.

Wait...he liked Herbology? Really? "I love Herbology!" exclaimed Tobias excitedly. Maybe he would know how to work with the Abyssinian shrivelfig, assuming this...Smad Yug place had a similar curriculum? That was one plant Tobias knew little about; they worked with it this year. "I know very little about Muggles," Tobias mentioned, sounding a little sad, "so I'm looking forward to Muggle studies this year." He thought back to his childhood, full of neighbors playing Quidditch on cheap brooms and his mother's magical concoctions. He carefully shifted his setting closer to where the boy and his group of new friends were discussing things. "I may as well be a ghost, if you're going to call me 'boy'," he pointed out, a hint of ice in his voice. "My name's Tobias Rivers." Deliberately, he neglected to request the older boy's name.
"What am I good at?" Tobias said, completely friendly now, his moment of annoyance passed. After pondering a minute, he continued. "I'm rather good at gardening magical plants and brewing potions." Tobias, that’s boring. He said “be impressive”, Tobias scolded himself. “I have one requirement every year,” he continued. “My Aunt Mabel asks me to grow blue roses around my garden each season.”
He loves herbology? Chaucer craned his neck to hear better and was rewarded with "gardening magical plants" and a grand finale of "blue roses". No... surely I have not found the chosen one amongst mortals! Well maybe that's an exaggeration, but BLUE ROSES? The idea of possessing a green thumb with such an ability astounded him. Those were the flowers he coveted more than any other, though he always made-do with blue hydrangea. Pondering the implications of being acquainted with someone who literally owned a gardenful of blue roses caused Chaucer to lean ever forward. "Really? Not violet, but blue? You plant them? And you love herbology? My mother is the one who wrote the third-year textbooks: 'Puffapods - the Serious Traits Behind the Silly Name'" His voice became a slightly higher pitch and his language steadily appeared more boyish. "You know I want to do some studies on how muggles interpret 'magical plants' and compare them to wizard classifications. Is there truth behind the origins of a mandrake root, or or or are things like Asphodel really connected with the dead? This and that, you know!" It was after this Chaucer realized that his left hand had been soaking in gravy during the whole conversation. Oh dear He thought glumly.
She was so happy. He made her so happy. And that he wanted to be around her was SO awesome. Natasha looked at him when he started to say he got paid, whaaaaaat? But then he giggled and burst out laughing. Finally she recovered and her face sobered up. "I don't know, Art. That sounds pretty bad." She teased him, starting to laugh again. Then she hugged him briefly, her eyes sparkling. "That's for being awesome and making me laugh."
"Cool." She suddenly could not wait for CoMC to start again, because it would be twice as fun. With Art, that is. "That's good, you are too." She never, ever imagined she'd feel half this good before she went on the train.
When he said that he got paid she looked a little stricken, he had her fooled.....until he started giggling. She was so cute teasing him. "Yup I'm a bad guy Nattie , you may not want to hang around me." Art returned the laugh.
When Natasha hugged him Art's face immediately glowed , he had a very happy smile on his face.Awwww! My first Nattie hug! Yes. Eek hug her, hug her. Art leaned over and hugged her back happily. "That is for being awesome, sweet, and cute." he smiled.
He smiled again and winked,"Can't wait for class."
"I'm glad Nattie." he said warmly.

Chaucer shook his head with a grin, barely supressing a chuckle. Gods, but he was funny.
"I shall give you my rubix cube next I think, perhaps you will need to turn it but four times whereas I..." He held up an imaginary cube and pretended to twist it, "I can barely get two lines on one side to match. Hah! Yes, there was no chance I'd have been a Ravenclaw." Now finally put into concrete words, Chaucer came to the realization the not only was his cousin better at transfiguration, but he was also an intellectual superior. Bah! Now I have condmened myself to a frown all day.
Art laughed as Chaucer smiled and started to laugh. "I said that I had an answer, I never said that it was a great one. I just had an answer." Art laughed.
"Thank you Chaucer, I can actually solve a rubix cube behind my back. They can be amusing." Art beamed. "I could be a Ravenclaw, I didn't want to be though. The hat was debating for a decent bit which house to put me in."Art mused.
"I wanted Slytherin, because I like it. My familiar is also more suited to this house." Art winked. "Besides, book smarts aren't always the best kind of smarts. Your wit is what count here and that you have yes? Yes. So you fit well here Chaucer." Art smiled.

But it had turned out alright, and Nathalie gave her youngest sister an encouraging smile as she took her place at the end of the table.
She glanced along the table, seeking her other sisters. Anneliese was with her fellow fifth years, and Sylvie and Laurelle were with a mixed group of fourths and thirds. Her expression became bleak for a moment, reflecting that there should have been a brother sitting with the second years; but they had lost him shortly after his birth, which meant that Nathalie was stuck being her father's heir. Not a good look. And it kills other flowers, so I have to make sure it doesn’t get into my regular garden.”

"What in the name of Merlin was that?" she asked as she looked up at the staff table and seen one of the professors standing on a chair. "What, shut our pie holes, is that guy serious?" Still watching the staff table the professor got off the chair just in time for the headmaster to give his speech. Listening carefully Marie couldn't believe when it was over. "What, that's it? No words of encouragement for a good year? He didn't even tell us who all the new staff members are."'Oh well, now we can finally eat' she thought as the food finally appeared on the tables. 'Wait, what does he mean he sincerely doubts anyone will die this year?' Trying not to think about that comment Marie started putting food on her plate.
Looking over at Evan she noticed that he wasn't eating yet. "Come on Even, have some food, you don't want to waste away to nothing do you?"

He crossed his arms over his chest like a stubborn child. He listened to Evan sitting like this and his hungry frustration faded away when the boy slapped his forehead. 'Weird' he thought but then realised he was introducing him to another Slytherin girl. Lavi beamed at the possibility of meeting someone else and he waved at her. "Hiya nice to me--" He hadn't finished his sentence because when he looked at her direction he noticed...CHOCOLATE! Yummy chocolate! Before he even knew it himself, his hand had fallen in to the pile and he happily grabbed a few and ate them.
He saw Evan's lips move and looked at him. He grinned when he said he could have some chocolate and happily ate further. "dissisgud, danks!" he said with his mouth full.
Having eaten something, his stomach stopped growling....for a moment... and he looked at the staff table. "Who's our Head, Evan?" he asked still looking at the Professors.
"Hey Lavi, the speech is finally over, now we can finally eat real food instead of chocolate." Marie hoped Lavi didn't get mad when she told him they could eat real food now but if he was as hungry as she was he would dig right in.

A good while into the feast, Helena picked her head up off the table with a small smile and spooned the usual dollop of mashed potatoes onto her plate, but she was in no mood to eat. Not only was she missing Chris, but him not being there was making her lonely and then wishing Blake would talk to her, but then also realizing that Blake was flirting with the usual gang of girls and it was making Lena completely jealous even though she shouldn't be because she had a boyfriend!! Ugh. It's a wonder her head didn't explode right then. She pushed her potatoes around her plate without emotion, watching the patterns form on the golden dish without prior planning.

"I completely understand your wanting to be with your cousin. I wouldn't know what to do if I were separated from my brother, though he probably would have loved it. But then what good is a team if they are the same? Sure a pair of shoes is useful, but not altogether wonderful. Easily forgotten except on the rare occasion. But all of the great duos of the past have been two very different people. Think of it as a chance to grow as individuals to make your pair better." Severia often pretended she was a famous motivational speaker. "The sorting hat had an awfully hard time with me as well. Art had a strange ability to boost Chaucer's confidence while making him feel inferior. Behind his back? He hadn't really expected Art to be adept at the cube as well, but there you have it. Chaucer eyed him carefully; he never met a Renaissance man, but he supposed that Art fulfilled the all necessary criteria.
Nontheless, he returned the smile. He had acknowledged his wit and that was something he still had on his side.

Chaucer almost felt the instinct to get up and clap, but decided quickly that it may have been taken as sarcasm. Instead he did the only other thing he could think of to signal that ideas were reaching him: he stroked his chin and stared off into space. His lips formed a sort of pout as he contemplated, making him look more like a child trying to imitate a philosopher. "Absence does make the heart grow fonder, they say. Perhaps I will grow better apart from him."I am hounding him for his class schedule as soon as I am able.

Well that made sense; it wasn't a miracle potion afterall - it had some faults as a herbicide - but still, it did what it was supposed to and that was quite impressive in itself. The site of the boy biting into a drumstick simultaneously prevented his desire to further question him and reminded him of his empty belly. Chaucer was secretly relieved the food was simple fair as he didn't care for a lot of the 'fancier' foods his previous academy provided. It was the feel he got from a basic roast that made it more desireable and reminded him of the time when Nanny Slagh cooked old country recipes all those years ago.
Still, finger foods did not leave a good impression of nobility and besides that, he had already done well by sticking his hand in some blanche gravy. Honestly, I'm practically a twittering school girl when someone mentions herbs. He sighed as he pulled his gloves off revealing long thin fingers, paler than his face by two shades. From a distance, one might think he still had on his gloves.

Dillon was vaguely aware of the conversations going on around him, but to say he cared was another matter entirely. His hazel eyes swept across the Great Hall, his sister, never one to let someone else's shine outshine hers had done the Great Hall justice. It was marvelous place and Diggy was keen on knowing how they kept the candles suspended. He could see all the places he could go if he could achieve that. "If you want to that's fine, I really should be getting to know the new Slytherins myself so I'll see you later." Raven said with a slight wink then smirked and turned her attention back to the staff table, something about some of those professors seemed odd to her but she wasn't sure what.
Daniel squeezed Raven's shoulders lightly and winked at her.
See you in a few." he said and then stood up and walked across towards the Gryffindor House Table. He sat where he left before. he then turned around and looked at Raven. It looks like everything is fine.

Evelyn snickered, glancing up at Destiny for a moment before continuing to finish her plate of food. Of course she knew Destiny knew what she was talking about. She just wanted to bug her..."I wanted to know because there is no way I'm calling her Lawson." she whispered, glancing over at Lawsguini for a moment. He did say that he had really good hearing at the courtyard in Diagon Alley. Or maybe he just said he was an Auror, and that pretty much meant good hearing. "One Lawson is bad enough, but two? I'm guessing her last name would have been changed to Lawson right? Since Lawsguini never corrected us when we called him that in Diagon Alley..." She would sooo rather have two Morgans than two Lawsons.
"So I figured I'd call her something else, and all I could come up with was the first name which you said was...Ellianna? What?" Finishing her spaghetti and salad, she took a sip of water and just sat, already feeling full and wanting to go to the dorms. If only to get away from Rex that is...and a few other people she spotted. Where was Josh???!!!

Nathalie nodded. "If my father were here, he'd point out very loudly how lucky your father is to have sons. I'm afraid he rather resents the five of us." She sighed quietly. "I don't particularly want the status, but I do wish that if he must introduce me to people as his heir, he wouldn't do it in such a resigned tone of voice." She shrugged. "Oh well. And what are your brothers doing now they've left school?"

Raven sighed slightly after Daniel left the table and headed back over to the Gryffindor table, it really was a shame that he wasn't a Slytherin then there wouldn't be a problem here; she rested her head down on her hands until she realized she had a small notebook in her pocket, she took it out and grabbed the pen from the top of the book then opened it up and began writing.
Reese continued to watch the staff table, but her eyes were mostly on the guy sitting right in the middle. Where was BONTECOU? That was the question that immediately popped inside her head when she realized that where that strange man was sitting was the place Bontecou was suppose to be sitting at. Something wasn't right.
After minutes of thinking, she decided she was going to head up there soon and introduce herself to the new people...especially that strange man sitting in the middle.
She took her eyes away from the staff table when she heard someone say her name. "Hey Ced," she greeted her friend with a smile. "I've been good. How have you been? And, I've missed you too! It's been to long since we've last talked. I didn't even have a chance to see you in Diagon Alley."
Cedric returned Reese's smile. "I've been good, too. I spent half of my summer at France with Alice and Shana spent some time with us there too. Ah, yeah. Diagon Alley is always crowded, too bad we haven't seen each other there." uttered Cedric as he smiled warmly.
Then something had caught his attention. Right there, on Reese's chest, there was a gleaming prefect badge. Wow.. his friend's a prefect! "Congrats.. they've made you a prefect! I know you'll do great!"
"Do you always guess so accurately? Maybe, if you do, you could stop guessing and started stating it as fact?" Neptune slipped her arm around his middle and gave him a little squeezey hug. "Thank you for your guess. YOU're pretty TOO." At least!
Neptune turned back towards the BIG staff table. That man was STARING at her. So she waved again. HIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MAN!
"Don't look at him." The beet-red fanboy. "If we pretend he isn't there, then surely he'll disappear. Surely. You should instead tell me about those people." The staff people, as indicated by Neptune's little finger blatantly pointing towards their table.
"I've got pretty good intuition," Raiden said, almost laughing. She'd called him pretty. Not a word he usually associated with those of his gender, nor with himself. But she had said thank you which was a new one, and... felt like a step in a good direction? Kinda? He even half-hugged her back as she squished him.
She was waaaving again. At... the person who was apparently the new headmaster, from what was going on. New Headmaster? No Headmaster Kazimeriz?
...Raiden was pleased.
"There's a few that I don't know. The new Headmaster person, and that redhead lady over there... the blonde lady... and the-" Oh. What a rather... gigantic sneeze. Raiden stared for a moment at the man, who... told them all to be quiet... before looking back at Neptune and continuing in a whisper. "I don't know that one either, but the rest were all here last term."
As the food appeared, Raiden turned his attention away from the Staff Table. He was staaaaaaaaaaarving. Reaching for the potatoes, he kept addressing Neptune, dividing his attention between them.
"Was there any specific person you wanted to know about?"
Rubbing her face, Evelyn pushed her dark hair away from her eyes and sighed. She was actually getting pretty tired and she couldn't wait to get back to the Slytherin common room in the dungeons. A nice cozy bed awaited her! Another small smile appeared on her lips as she thought of that, and she looked around, just seeing who else was at the table.
One girl did stand out in particular. She looked pretty lonely, and even though she looked happy, the sadness underneath that emotion was showing more than the girl thought. 'Of course she's sad. She's crying!' Well yea, it was pretty obvious, and she was sitting close by which made it easier as well. Maybe...they could be 'friends'? Heck, she was in a good mood right now. "Hey...You." she said, not knowing the girl's name as of yet. "Why don't you come sit with us." Gesturing to herself and to Destiny, Evelyn tried to look as kind as possible. Don't want to scare her away or anything...
Nella looked at the girl, very surprised but relieved ,so she gulped, she was shivering, but then she calmed her self and thought: yeah the girl looks very nice, why am i being stupid?.
so she got up and joined the girl. she said nervously: my name is Nella, what's yours?
"Yeah, I guess he could just be running late, probably wants to make a grand entrance, you know how he likes to make a scene." Marie said as she thought of the last end of term feast and how Kazi had acted then. That man was just a nasty, mean old man, no getting around that one.
Looking at the girl who had sat down with them Marie introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Marie, how are you?" Looking back at Evan, Marie thought he looked a little nervous when he spoke to the other girl.
Marie looked up and noticed that Rex was talking to Evalyn and Destiny. 'What!? Has he lost his mind, did that boy not learn anything on the train?' Marie knew that the two girls would not like that he was talking to them but she chose not to get in the middle of it. She was happy sitting there with Evan and didn't want anything to ruin her night.
SPOILER!!: Evan & Lavi
'What, Evan is still trying to give away all his chocolate? He'll be sad when he doesn't have any later.' She thought as she watched him shove the pile in front of Lavi. "Hey there Lavi, nice to meet you. Yeah, we have to wait until the headmaster gives his little speech before we can eat. I hope he gives it soon, or I just might have to eat some chocolate with you if he doesn't." Marie said with a little giggle as she watched Lavi stuff some of the chocolate in his mouth.
"Well I wanted to thank you for helping me with my problem" Rex told Marie. " You really helped me a lot with Kay" Rex whispered to Marie. He did not want Marie to be in trouble with her friends Destiny and Evelyn. "Do not worry about me, I will be ok " Rex said to Marie.

Though she was curious as to why they were doing that. She'd never seen anyone feed each other really before, and she wanted to know the reason behind it. Was it because...they liked to do that? Or was it just something necessary to do in a relationship, because there was no way she was feeding Josh. Even though it...would be...cute...ish...
"I don't know why they are sad." Or showing so much emotion!! It was slightly disturbing. Almost as much as seeing the dorks feed each other. Pull yourselves together people! Or you'll end up like...the Lawsonators. *shiver*
Chuckling, Evelyn took another sip of water, staring at Destiny. "Calm down." she whispered, looking over to Rex. "He's not worth our time or our breathe." Noticing a few more people up at the staff table, especially Professor Lupa and the fact that Bunz looked not too happy that there was another redhead at the table, hehe, she waved at their head of house before turning back to Rex.
"Wait a minute..." Why hadn't the boy left yet? She thought he couldn't stand them, hence the slimeball and dumb comments. "If you want, you could sit right here, Rex." she smiled, patting the open seat next to herself. Would definitely make this feast more interesting, and make Kay mad of course.
" Oh, I could maybe sit here next time, mam" Rex politely declined . I have to meet some other friends at other tables " Rex told Evelyn. "Destiny, I know you would love for me to sit next to you next time. mam" Rex smiled at her. "Are you sure you do not have anything to say to Evelyn?' Rex asked Destiny."
Zoe approached the table and found an unoccupied seat. Glancing left and right she noticed a lot of other students at the table but only a few of them were familiar faces. Zoe had to go home early last term due to family reasons, but she was happy to finally be back at Hogwarts.

Destiny did not realize she would have to call Professor Morgan, Professor Lawson. There was no way she was doing that! She liked Professor Morgan and did not want to call her by that cursed name. Why was Evelyn whispering? Oh right, because Auror Ears over there could probably hear them. 'Right. He wouldn't change his name. Would he?' She never really understood why people change their last name when they get married. Maybe they took the name that sounded better. And besides, Lawson seemed to like his name too much to change it. He should think about changing his first name though..Marcus was just too funny a name!
'Il-i-ana.' she pronounced the name slowly. She had to make sure it sounded right, and if she repeated it a few times, she wouldn't forget it. Maybe Evelyn should do the same. She did have problems with the name Bunbury, hence the reason for all the nicknames. They still needed nicknames for a few more professors, including all the new ones, but she didn't know their names..yet. Where was Vinny at? 'Maybe we could find a nickname for this git right here..'

Propping her elbows on the table, Destiny buried her face in her hands. Deep breaths, deep breaths. Okay, she was good now. Shifting in her seat, she turned to face Rex with an innocent smile on her face, that she learned from Evelyn. 'Sorry Rex, but you are wrong. I don't have anything to tell Evelyn. I do have something to tell you though.' She was hoping he would like what she had to tell him. She didn't know how he would react. 'I'll tell you if you come here, it's a secret..' She gestured for him to come closer, she didn't want the whole Great Hall to hear..
