Well, I'm Caitlin. This is my millionth fan fiction but I think it's got a great start.

The Flavor of the Week is a novel focused on Lily Evans’ final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She’s thrown into a hazy mess of battling wars with her grades, responsibilities with being a Head Girl, and a blossoming romance that she’s not even sure she’s ready for. Finally, when she thinks she’s gotten things figured out, everything turns for the worst. Follow Lily through a rushing path of fear, happiness, anger, hate, frustration, and even love.

There were three things my mother had always told me as I was growing up: live a life full of laughter, love with all of my heart, and read non-stop. In fact, that was me. I wasn’t the type for love but I definitely had my laughs and I cherished reading.

I loved my life, but as I sat under an umbrella to shield myself from the bristling sun, I couldn’t help wondering if I wanted more. More what? I thought semi-consciously. Before I could ponder the case any farther, a girl pulled a seat up next to me. My train of thought evaporated as the stuck her pinkie finger in my ice cream.

“Hey,” I laughed, throwing a napkin at her. “Get your own.”

“Yeah, with what money?” she rolled her eyes and ate, despite my protests.

Deciding that I wasn’t that hungry anyway, I tried to continue to read (though my previous attempts were useless due to my wandering train of thought.) This time proved the same.

“What’re you reading?”

“Toadstool Tales, by Beatrix Bloxam.”

“Okay, let me rephrase that,” Marie sighed, tucking a long strand of her black hair behind her ear. “Why are you reading? It’s the last day of your vacation and your senior year is coming up. Do you know how many guys are here? Come on, live a little!”

“Uh!” I replied in disgust. “I live just fine, thanks.”

“Hey, Evans! EVANS!” a boy called from across the street. He jogged over, shaking his messy black hair around pointlessly. “What’s that you’ve got your nose buried in? It’s the last day before school starts and you’re already trying to read the whole booklist?”

“Thank you!” Marie grinned, happy that someone else was trying to make the same point clear.

“Shove off, Potter.” I replied, not taking my eyes away from the book.

“I will if you’ll go out with me.”

“Oh, yes, real romantic.” I snapped the novel shut. “You come over, not bothering to acknowledge the fact that I have a first name, insult my habits, and then ask me to date you when in fact, your girlfriend is with Sirius Black in the Three Broomsticks. How persuading.”

With that said, I rolled my eyes and stormed down the street, Marie reluctantly trailing at my heels.

“Wait, Lily, just wait!” Marie called, gasping for breath. “He was just-”

I wheeled around, fire burning in my eyes. “Don’t you dare stand up for him. You know just as well as I that he’s an arrogant little brat with too much money and not enough brains.”

“Maybe he’s changed. I think he really does like you. That’s what, the millionth time he’s asked you out?”

“Yes, and could he be any more insensitive with it?” I questioned, leading the way into The Leaky Cauldron. “What does he just expect me to do, just fall at his feet? Well I won’t; I’m not like every other girl, nor do I intend to be.”

After entering the room I was staying in, I barely let Marie in before I slammed the door.

Three months passed and Dumbledore finally let me return to work. We used to work once or twice a week, going out to houses and whatnot. Now, however, we would be out three or four times at the oddest hour.

James and I rolled in around five a.m., worn out and exhausted from a couple hours of clue hunting.

“I’ll go check on Harry,” I said softly, and crept into his bedroom. Remus was sitting in the rocking chair in the corner, dozing slightly, and Harry was in his crib, sound asleep. I caressed his silky black hair gently and sighed.

“He’s so beautiful,” James whispered, coming into the room and wrapping his arms around my waist. “I can’t believe that he’s all ours.”

I kissed James, and then went to Remus’ side. “Hey, we’re back. Thanks again.”

“No problem,” he replied groggily. “What else do I have to do?”

And it was the truth. Remus was supposed to be headed back two months ago; however, the escalating death counts and other various factors had postponed his departure.

We all headed to bed and I blew Harry one last kiss before closing the door.

“I’ll get it,” I called as the ringing of the doorbell echoed through the house.

After checking out the window’s shades, I saw that it was Marie. I unlocked the door and welcomed her in. “Hey, how are you?”

“Good,” she smiled. “A little tired. The Ministry has me working overtime. I stopped by to see Remus. Is he here?”

I nodded and led her to the living room. Sensing that they needed so privacy, James and I went upstairs.

“Wonder what’s going on?”

“I dunno,” replied James, cocking his head slightly around the bend in the stairs.

I hit him in the arm. “You shouldn’t eavesdrop!”

“And you shouldn’t hit,” he winced, rubbing his arm slightly.

There was a faint cry from upstairs.

“Harry’s up,” I said, stating the obvious. “I’ll go get him. Don’t you dare listen in!”

When I entered Harry’s room I couldn’t help but to hug him. His big toothless grin shined brightly in the room.

“Good morning!” I called, throwing open the curtains. “Did you sleep well honey?”

He didn’t answer; instead, Harry plopped himself down on the mattress and began playing with one of his toys. He shook it roughly and beat it up against the rails, then placed it in his mouth and began gnawing at it.

“I bet that’s delicious,” I laughed, picking him up. “You want to go see Uncle Remus and Auntie Marie?”

I left the room, Harry in my arms, and met James, staring at me, mouth wide open.

“What?” I asked, worried something had happened.

“Ma-Marie. She told Remus that she loves him!”

I could only squeal.

“Aw, there he is,” Marie cooed as I let her hold Harry. “Wow. He’s getting so big!”

“And he looks more and more like his dad everyday,” said Remus proudly, ruffling up Harry’s hair.

“Except for those eyes,” corrected Marie. “He has Lily’s eyes...”

So guess what? TFotW has taken up 68 pages in Word (& still counting!)- that so beats my last FF!

Hah you think that you have it bad? My boyfriend is my section leader! Everyone thinks that he's going to be nice to me when camp starts but I'll tell you now- in Rookie Camp, he was tough. He's going to have to be more harsh on me than anyone else just so people can't say that I'm getting special privelasges! Do you know how much that sucks? Half the people on the Marching Band don't even think that we're dating 'cause he's so mean... & of course I'll post a link for Fate!
