Bassoons galore!
I could only lie in my bed. Nothing could get me out. My sheets could’ve caught on fire and I probably would’ve just started at them… Depression had completely overtaken me and I just didn’t care.
“Lily, it’s our last night.”
I didn’t answer her. Instead, I just watched as she packed up a few of her things.
“Come on,” Marie said desperately. “We’re leaving in the morning. Come say goodbye to everyone.”
I ignored her and rolled over.
“Fine,” she snapped. “Be that way.”
She stormed out of the dormitory and I grudgingly accepted the fact that she was right; I would really regret it if I didn’t say goodbye to everyone… and maybe kill Milo in the process.
I shifted slowly out of my covers, threw my hair back into a messy ponytail, and then made my way down the stairs. I had to argue with myself on if I even wanted to enter the hall. I was sure that, by now, everyone had known what had happened.
My assumptions proved correct when I trudged through the doors; everyone fell silent and a few people actually pointed and whispered.
I was surprised that I wasn’t even embarrassed. My face didn’t even flush.
Ignoring the eyes stuck to the back of my head, I took a seat opposite the table from James. When I saw him my heart jumped, but was suddenly stabbed as a knife went through it while remembering him kissing Milo. I sighed and took a seat.
The Headmaster had already made his speech; many people were wandering around, hugging each other and crying. I couldn’t help but to laugh to myself a little. Some girls were sobbing like they were never going to see each other again. But of course, after some of the things Dumbledore had told me, this could actually become very true…
I bit my lip and knew that I didn’t want to be in the Hall. I stood up and began to make my way out of the room, shoving past crowds of people who had moved on to more interesting things instead of talking about me. However, these new things led to them standing in the middle of the isle, forcing me to push past them.
“Lily, wait!” I turned around at the male’s voice, and saw James a few feet away from me. Milo was not far from him, looking at me with anger.
“Go away, Potter.”
His face fell as I left; I heard him calling me but I didn’t look back. Suddenly, there was an uproar of what sounded like breaking dishes. I turned and saw James racing towards me on top of the Gryffindor Table.
“What’re you doing?” I cried, throwing my hands up.
“Giving a big gesture,” he replied when he reached my side. A few people were watching him with amusement and this time I actually felt myself blush.
“I don’t care,” I said softly, shaking my head. “I don’t care about you.”
“Oh yes you do,” he answered, pushing his own hair away from his face. “Or you wouldn’t be listening to me beg forgiveness right now. What I did was stupid. It was so idiotic of me… not just the kissing part. I should’ve been there for you. I shouldn’t have left you…I should have looked for you. Lil… we have so many future plans together, and you’re more than just my flavor of the week. You’ve always been so much more. You’ve meant more than the world to me since the day I saw you sitting under that tree by the lake. Lily, I love you more than the air I breathe, and I want to know… I want to know if you’ll marry me.”
James kicked aside a few of the plates and got down on one knee. He gently took my hand and revealed a diamond ring.
“I love you, I love you, and I love you, Lily Evans. Marry me.”
