Out first fifteen minutes were spent in peace but then I saw a girl with a fake-looking smile plastered on her face stroll casually over.

“Hey, James,” she said, flipping her strawberry-blonde hair over her shoulder. “I haven’t spoken to you in a while.”

James looked oddly at her pouting face then pulled my hand over to his. He entwined his fingers into mine then smiled.

She glared at me then stormed away.

I coughed, trying to hide a laugh, but didn’t succeed. “And who was that? Her facial expression was hilarious.”

“Cathy Antoinette,” Remus grinned. He seemed in a much better mood. “James’ most clingy ex-girlfriend to date.”

We joked around about her some, our conversation sometimes being interrupted by the waitress and students who were curious to where we’ve been.”

“Yeah, some fifth year girls were saying that James had decided to run away with Remus… and... Er… you can fill in the rest,” one girl from our Transformation class told us.

“Ha ha, well that one is definitely not true,” James smiled, and kissed me on the cheek.

“So that’s it, then? You two are official?”

“Yeah,” I said, deciding that now would probably be the best time to tell people. “We are.”

I waved bye to her just as the door opened and Marie and Sirius came in.
“Eek!” Marie cried upon seeing me. “Where’ve you been?”

Sirius grinned at the other two boys and did an odd mix of a handshake and a hug with them.

“Er, well… We all have an sick friend that we’re taking care of.”

That didn’t seem to faze Marie in the least. “Oh. Wait. Did I see you and James holding hands?”

“Yeah, you did.”

Marie hugged me, saying that she knew that it would happen all along.

“Well, Marie and I have decided to take a break,” Sirius said as Marie’s face fell a little. “But since you three are gone school’s incredibly boring and we’ve been hanging out a lot.”

Instinct told me that Sirius had broken up with her… but to Marie, it was almost like they were still dating.
