Ren'Ai Sakura Kirai has had a tough life. She was orphaned at ten, and labeled as the 'Japanese Transfer' and 'Paranoia Queen' at Hogwarts.

Now twenty-one, Ren'Ai has recently been placed in the Magical Creatures department of the Ministry of Magic. Her paranoia and distrust was starting to disappear.

But her past is coming back to haunt her. An old friend has started coming to her new home. He has been trying to convince her to come back to Japan. But Ren'Ai, believe it or not, has an actual family now. Albeit 'adopted', she still has a family. She wouldn't be able to leave when she has friends and family that love her to bits, or when she has a job that she enjoys greatly.

But will Koudo accept that? Ren'Ai thinks...not.

Her 'slice of paradise' as she and her 'adopted' family call it, is a beautiful three-story white house with a master bedroom on the top floor and three guest bedrooms-one on the top floor and the other two on the second floor- all with their own separate baths and balconies extending from the bedrooms. She also has a large dining room and adjoining kitchen, a large study and a small library on the ground floor.

Out back, Ren'Ai has a large vegetable and flower garden, and a small pond that she is usually found lounging by.

Ren'Ai is nearly always willing to let you in if you need a place to stay for the night. Just don't touch the pictures or go into her study, and we'll all get along.

Callum watched as Kai sat back again and played in the grass. He looked so cute in the too long for him grass.

Cal looked over at Ren and smiled cutely. Then he looked at Kai as he crawled over to him and held his arms out. Cal picked him up and cuddled him

Ren barely smiled back, returning to stare out at the water. A bunch of things ran through her mind. Things she hadn't wanted to remember.

Callum looked down then back up at Ren again. "Emotionally and mentally. As far as I can tell there's no physical damage been done to you since I've been here" he replied being serious throughout the entire sentence.

Ren sighed. The moment of truth. "Mentally...sorta. Kinda homsick at the moment, so I'me kinda messed up in the head, and I will be for a while, but I'll get over it. Emotionally...no. I never will be. There are just some things that not even love can heal. What I went through...that's one of them. I mean...I was just a little kid. It happened in July...so I started Hogwarts two months later. Being around all those people..." Ren visibly shuddered and took a deep breath. This was the first time since it happened she was talking so openly about it. "I need to relive, to tell you in excrutiating detail...but Kai's right here. I can't. I'm not gonna make him listen to that" she explained, her hollow, haunted, dull grey and purple eyes looking lifelessly up at Callum. She was a mess. "This is the kind of thing that just never leaves you" she said, and her eyes started burning. "I'll be right back. I have to get something" she said quietly, getting up and going inside to slide into her study.

After a few minutes of rifling through gorgeous sepia Wizarding phtographs, she found the ne she wanted. She walked back outside, her glasses in hand as well. She returned to her seat next to Callum and flipped the phot over, putting her glasses on. She read her mother's lopy handwriting aloud:

"Ami Takahashi and Kyo Kirai
Wed on 17 March
At the Firi-Iki Estate in Kyoto, Japan"

She turned the picture over again to show Callum her mother and father. "If you look really closely, yu can tell I have my mother's eyes" she said softly, handng him the moving photo as her mother waved at her.

When she returned with a photo he looked closely. "It's the small things that make an impact and your eyes have made a huge impact on how I feel about you" he repleid.

Ren nodded. "I know. It's just...I've kept all this bottled up for so long that I'm afraid that if I don't tell someone, it's gonna affect my health. It probably already has" she said, wping tears away before Callum could see them.

She looked up. "At least somene doesn't think my eyes make me look like a freak" she said softly.

When I had come back downstairs, my parents were laughing and talking on the couch, and they stood up at the same time the door was blasted open. I pressed myself in the crner and my parents started shouting at the two men to get out. One of them had a knife and brutally stabbed my mother. My father, well...he had Sectumsempra used n him. They bled to death. I can remember running to them and falling to my knees, crying. Then, the next thing I knew, I was waking up in Koudo's home, still covered in blood. It was weird" she said, and she finally brke down. The tears fell thick and fast as she cried.

Ren sighed. She wasn't gonna answer that.

Callum took a deep breath and listened as Ren spoke. He looked down, speechless. He didn't know what to say. He looked up again as a tear escaped his eye silently. "Did they ever get caught?" he asked not knowing what else he could say.

Callum looked down. He didn't know what to say. Instead he just shifted forward slightly and facepalmed, sighing deeply. He looked at Ren then looked away again. Everytime he looked at her, he'd feel awkward from then on. But he had no idea why. Maybe because he didn't know what he could say to make even the least bit better.

Callum looked round at Ren and put his arm around her. He smiled slightly. "Yeah I do" he replied, not really with it.

Callum turned over on his back and looked up at the sky, thinking. He did that a lot recently. Maybe it was just him reminiscing in memories or it could have been a more logical reason. Like the fact he was engaged to the girl he was so eagerly persuaded to ignore all those years ago. And he regretted it. A lot. But now he was the luckiest guy on earth.

He suddenly went into his own world.

"You're a wimp, Callum. You wouldn't usually say no to something like this" his friend mocked from behind him. Callum sat at the desk in silence trying to study. Wasn't working. His friend walked to the side of him and pushed him.

"You know you wanna do it to her. O would you rather lose your real friends?" he scowled. Callum had finally had enough. He looked at his friend, anger in his eyes.

"Fine, you win. I'll do it" he replied not actually wanting to do it. He was being forced to pull the worst prank ever on the girl he was actually in love with. All in the name of 'friendship' and 'respect'. He was meant to be the leader. The one that got the respect. And right now his 'friends' weren't earning the respect they desired so much. They were the loyal followers, not Callum. And he never would be.

"And that respect you guys want, you're not gonna get it. You'll be lucky if you even survive another year here, NO ONE TRIES TO MAKE ME DO SOMETHING I DON'T WANNA DO. You should know that by now, kid" Callum said visciously as he stood up and walked out the common room without a glance back. He was NOT going to prank Ren'Ai Kirai. Not in a million years. That would be like cursing his chances of being with her.

Callum suddenly sat up, his heart beating like crazy. He looked over at Ren who seemed to be concerned. He'd gone into memory land and was pretty much gone for what felt like an hour. Maybe it was just the memory that dragged. But it was something he didn't ever want to remember.
