Ravenswood Manor

Adrianna Charday’s life has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. When it all becomes too much, she slips away from her home in the middle of the night, as she has done many times before. Only this time, it’s for good. She goes to the beautiful wildlife preserve that a close family friend owns. Ravenswood. The ideal place to go if you need some alone time. But no one knows what’s really going through the raven-haired teenager’s depressed mind. She was slowly losing herself in self-pity, depression.
Her best friend since she was an infant, Cassandriana Brant, visits daily, but can never find the girl she once knew as her friend inside the shell of a person she finds everyday.
But if you do find old Adrianna, she will gladly welcome you into the humongous manor house that she now calls home. There are eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a large den with a fireplace and mantle, two kitchens, and a sunroom throughout the house. Two wolves, Dreamer and Stormbringer stay in the den by the fireplace during the winter, but during the warmer months, they are either running around the preserve, or lying by Adrianna. There is a very large library on the top floor, where Ad spends most of her time. A sign on the gates leading to the preserve says:
Ravenswood Wildlife Preserve
Take only photos and leave only footprints.
Please don’t feed the animals, and stay on the paths.
Garbage in, garbage out policy.
$200 fine for littering.
Open from dawn till dusk.

Ad yanked open the feeding cabinet and filled up the large styrafoam container. She tossed the three wolves they shared, then moved forward to the owl sanctuary. She smiled and tossed in five live mice. She laughed as the owls all dive bombed for the squeking critters.

Justin just relaxed, deep in thought as usual. He looked up to make sure that Ad wasn't coming back yet then pulled out his phone and sent her a text message.

He pressed send then stood up and walked himself out of the forest, but he managed to find a way out he bet not even Ad knew was there. Yeah, his inquisitive mind did give him an advantage. The advantage that meant he was able to find himself out of even the most complicated of mazes. He was yet to find that maze but hey, he could dream couldn't he? He found himself at a road, the road he'd usually have gone down to get home, but he figured Ad would only follow him and he didn't want that. Though he was positive she'd get the wolves to search for him. They'd find him easy enough. His scent lingered for hours on end. Figures. Instead, he just walked down a road he never knew was there. Finding himself at a fork in the road. Great. Now which direction did he go in? He took the left fork and eventually found himself at the edge of a cliff. Best not jump. So instead he just took a seat at the cliff's edge and sat thinking. Being high up was a huge advantage point for him. It allowed him to think a lot more.

He wasn't even sure if she'd replied to his text having leaving his phone at the clearing. But she'd pick it up eventually. He did, however, have his camera on him. He took it out of his pocket and took a photo of the beautiful view of Ad in the lake from the cliff's edge. That was one for his portfolio which he'd give to Ad when he passed on. But then the camera dropped from his hand and fell into the lake below. Oops.

"I'm guessing Eagle Ridge is a great place to think, right?" she shouted, and then saw the camera in the lake. She turned it on and made sure there nodamage. There wasn't. She looked up and wondered ho she would get up there without killing herself trying to climb the cliff face.

Justin smiled cheerfully at Ad, adrenaline rush or what? "You seem shocked" he commented. Well she did. So he wasn't seeing things. Or was he? He looked at the now soaked bandages on Ad's arm. "What did you do?" he asked, his voice cracking, a lot. He'd been outside WAY too long. So long it could've been hazardous to his health.

Justin shrugged. He just had an adrenaline rush. Nothing to worry about. Then he listened as Ad explained the bandages. "You should get it checked out. Leopard's aren't considered the safest of animals, not to mention they carry disease's" he replied. But he knew Ad wouldn't get her injuries checked out. I already am sick he thought quietly. "Going inside now won't make any difference" he replied knowing the fact that he'd been outside all night had already made his health ten times worse than it already was.

Justin walked up the long road he'd walked up before, took the right fork again and eventually reached the cliff's edge. He sat down and looked down at Ravenswood, smiling at the view. It was amazing. As usual.

Justin listened for the music that was obviously coming from Ravenswood. Great. What part of silence didn't people understand these days? When he said alone, he meant alone. Not with music too. He sighed and kept looking out at the sky as birds continued flying around. But there was one bird in particular catching his eye. A snowy owl. His snowy owl. "Hey Snowy" he said as the owl flew toward him and perched himself on his shoulder.

Justin remained stood at the cliff's edge, looking out at the sky and the many acre's of land that stretched way past Ravenswood. Then he looked at Snowy and sighed again. "There's only one thing for it" he whispered and pulled out a pen, a piece of parchment and an envelope. He wrote a letter adressed to Ad and put it in Snowy's beak. "Take that to Ad, she's somewhere in the manor and no flying past the other animals" he told Snowy. Then he sat down and waited.
