Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

"Nothing too exciting. My parents and I spent most of our summer at home. Which is suprising considering their little 'feild trips' they love to take every summer vacation I get." Remus shrugged his shoulders, settling his book back into his bag. "Most of it was spent with Sirius, James, and Peter, of course." He couldn't help but smile at the mention of his best friends names.

Sloane felt like a complete ogre when she realized that Remus had been in the common room all a long. She must have really not been paying attention. Which is rare, she’s usually notices everything.

Giving Remus a smile and a wave she hoped he didn’t think them as rude. Seeing how he only turned his chair to face them, Sloane turned in her seat to face him as well. She listened intently to Lily and him converse as she continued to wonder where the others were.

"Oh, cut the charm for one moment, Sirius Black," snapped Ally. She didn't entirely mean to say that. It was more of the pain talking than her. She had reached the cranky stage of her injury, wanting nothing more than be in the hospital wing. Now, every little movement, every little jostle felt like she was being crushed by sharp rocks. Ally held on to Sirius for support. Noticing that he was walking slowly, she felt a surge of gratitude toward him. That made her even more guilty for snapping at him just then. "Sorry, I didn't mean it," she muttered a minute after she had told him off. The guilt eased, but Ally's mind returned to the sharp pain. It seemed to flow all over her body now. Had she broken every bone?

"If I'm not mistaken, the others are taking Ally to the Hospital Wing, I believe." Remus answered as he noticed Sloane smile at him and gave her a curtious nod in reply.

He adjusted himself in his chair, relaxing his back further against it. "Anyway, we'll see more of them later, I'm sure." Chiding up after a moment or two. Not wanting to be rude he asked, "And how was your summer Sloane?"

"Don't ask for the impossible, my dear," Sirius retorted calmly, once she had told him to 'cut the charm'. Which in his head meant that she at least found him charming; not that there was one girl out there who felt differently. He carried her through the open door and into the hospital wing; a peaceful area, bathed in white, vacant for the time being.

"It's fine," he smiled back as she apologized, and propped her gently on one of the empty beds. "Well, umm, I should wait outside, I guess. Or... maybe she'll want to keep you for the night," Sirius wondered what the school nurse would have in mind. Probably nothing too civil at the sight of one of Hogwarts' biggest pranksters, who was usually the cause of so many injuries in the first place. "Do you want me to go?" he asked Ally at last, blinking as he tried to adjust his eyes to the darker room.

Ally's eyes shifted away from Sirius's face as he asked that question. She eyed the door to the nurse's office, "I, ummm, I guess you should go," she said in a low, regretful voice. "You...you must be tired and all, I'm sure. I'll be alright," she said with an uneasy smile. Strangely, she didn't want him to leave her at all. She had quite enjoyed his company. Wait? This was Sirius Black for God's sake! His company is a nuisance, Ally kept telling herself to ensure her head that she had made the right decision when telling him to leave. Still, in the pit of her stomach, she knew she had made a mistake. Her eyes shifted back to his and for one little second, they met.

She didn’t want to bore her friends with tales from her summer holidays; so she opted to just keep them to herself.

Smiling surreptitiously, Sirius shook his head as he heard her tell him to leave. His experience put aside, it was rather obvious Ally didn't really want him to go, and even though he was indeed tired, he wasn't about to be inconsiderate. "Let's just wait and see what the nurse says," he said sagely, taking a seat in the chair next to her bed.

A couple of minutes passed in silence. Silence, in Sirius Black's vocabulary, usually meant boredom. He shifted backwards and forwards, curious as to what was taking the school nurse so long. Having noticed Ally's quick look in his direction, he regained his normal expression. "Bet you five galleons you're feeling sorry for treating me so badly on the train." Sirius grinned, knowing despite any refusal from her part, that he was right. And yes, it did make him feel good.

Ally's heart jumped when Sirius sat down in the chair beside her bed, but her mind quickly began nagging her to force him to go. She remained silent and gave Sirius a curt nod as he said that he would wait until the nurse arrived.

His next remark made her look at him again. It wasn't the friendly look that she gave him a while ago. Her eyes were challenging and cool again. "Bet you five Galleons that you have gone completely mental," she shot back with a small smirk.

"I think I'll go and check on Ally now that I have all the first years settled in." she said standing up.

"But I don't think anyone should worry much. You know Madame Pomfrey's got a bit of a knack for such things as broken or whatever bones. Though it is a bit painful, so I hear." He shrugged his shoulders again, looking up at Lily as she went to walk out of the Common Room. "See you." He said with a nod.

Turning back his attention to Sloane, he sighed and went to stare into the fire. "Aww.. c'mon. You're summer had to have been exciting if you got to travel. We usually do, but my parents seemed to take interest in staying indoors this year. It was rather a bit of a bore, if I do say so myself." Remus paused, still staring into the fires embers. "Where did you go?" Asking hesitantly, wondering if maybe he was asking prying questions that he shouldn't.

Lily headed along the hallway lost in her own thoughts, feeling both confused and upset. She had only been at the school about an hour and already she felt this way. She shook her head deciding there was no sense in getting upset about it. She headed into the hospital wing, looking for Ally.

"You're dead bent on losing your money, are you?" Sirius grinned from his chair, half-secluded in shadow. It was rather dark in the room, and the relative peace and quiet threatened to stun him into sleep any minute. He was beginning to get really irked; what kind of school nurse ran amock at night, when students needed tending to?

"Seriously, I think I'm gonna-" he started saying, but was interrupted by the movement of a person at the entrance to the hospital wing. His first thought was James, or at least the wayward nurse. But it was Lily.

Not bothering to act surprised, he got up from his chair, casting Ally a look before Lily could approach them. "Everything alright, Lils?" Sirius asked quietly.

Hearing Lily excuse herself Sloane gave her a smile and waved, “See you later Lil’s!” Sloane would have liked to have joined her, but she would have felt rude leaving Remus alone.

Sloane’s eyes widened at the retelling of the incident. She couldn’t believe she had missed out on all the drama; she was usually on top of these sorts of things. “Oh well that’s just awful. I hope it’s not broken. Broken bones can be quite painful; although not as painful as a dislocation, but painful nonetheless.”

The mention of Sirius taking Ally to the hospital wing made Sloane laugh, “Ah, well I’m sure Sirius is taking good care of her.” She gave Remus a wink before playfully rolling her eyes.

“Peter was on the train?” Sloane hadn’t seen Peter at all while on route to the castle so she simply assumed he hadn’t come…in all honesty she hadn’t even thought about Peter while on the train so her shock came as no surprise. “Well I’m sure he is around here somewhere.” Sloane added as she glanced about the common room.

Hearing Remus question about her summer again Sloane shook her head and smiled. He was very persistent. She didn’t peg him as possessing that characteristic so it came as quite a surprise. “Oh yeah, it was really exciting. I mean who doesn’t like hearing their mother complain about every single little thing.” Sloane would have preferred being barricaded indoors rather than traveling with her nagging mother and insane sisters.

“We just traveled around Europe and paid a visit to some relatives in the States.” Sloane hoped that Remus didn’t think of her as having a dysfunctional family…because she didn’t. She just didn’t get along with her mother too well, as was the case with most teenagers her age. Sloane was confident that she’d enjoy her mothers company once she reached the age of seventy, but as of right now she loathed being in the same room with her.

“Well tell you what Remus? How about next summer you go off with my crazy family and I stay indoors? Sounds like a plan eh?” she knew her mother would never allow such a thing, and she knew that Remus wasn’t that insane to take on such a challenge as her family.

Sloane had never heard of anyone spending the summer holidays doing nothing, so she was a bit surprised that Remus had done just that. “Indoors? Now what would posses your parents to do such a boring thing?”

"Hmm. Well, I really doubt it would be broken. Might of heard a bit of a snap if it were. But, nonetheless, I'm sure she's still in right for a long night of pain anyways." Remus replied, only imagining the thought of having to go through re-growing a broken bone. It brought to him a slight shiver and he merely shook his head to himself.

"As for Sirius, to my knowledge, he was quite enjoying every moment of having that girl in his arms. Of course, we all know how he is and it is rather... well, intolerable the way he flirts sometimes. Not to be crude or nothing towards him. But you know how that goes." He smiled at Sloanes wink, but shook his head again in disagreement. "Sometimes I don't really understand what's going through that gits mind when he thinks he's got girls from the whole school on his beck-n-call. Maybe an over-inflated ego, but, ah.. if it's not one girl this week, it'll be another next. You know, that usually how it works, that I can recall of anyway."

"Anyways, enough of daunting over his 'crisis', by the way, no actually I don't recall seeing Peter.. oh.. yes I did! He was sitting with me in the compartment for a short bit of time on the train, the took off when the rift raft started with Severus." This time, Remus shook his head in disguist. "Peter normally likes to stay behind and not bother getting into things like that, but sometimes I think he's got an itch just to be like Sirius and James. I mean, after all, he looks up to the lot like his heros for the most part. But all they cause is mischief and mayhem and trouble."

"But I'm not going to get started with those two. Sometimes they can really get on my nerves. Then again, they're my best friends, so I really shouldn't say too much." He became quiet at this point rethinking back on how much he had actually just said, and wondered if what he just said wasn't much but a lot of rambling on.

Biting, his tongue, his eyes away from the fire, he shifted in the chair again. "Well, I was only wondering how you could not have fun running around here and there to different places and such. I favor traveling. Of course I must have a knack for it seeing as though we have done so since I was very little." He shrugged his shoulders meekly. "And I really don't believe that your parents, or mine for that matter, would like to switch children for the summer." Hesitating a moment, careful to what he was saying he went on. "Oh, well, for some obvious reasons I don't think they would care to have me in at all. I mean.. I can be a bit of bore sometimes, you." He grinned to her, and laughed some.

"Oh, well. As to staying indoors for this summer. Dad said Mum wasn't well, or something to that effect, but I really think they just felt sorry for me because I wanted to spend the summer with Sirius, James, and Peter. Sirius got an apartment of his own now, you know?"

Remus shifted in his chair again. "Well, that's about as much as I'm going to say, considering you've gotten me to say an awful lot." He stood up, stretching some. "Maybe you would care to join me in going up to the Hospital Wing to see Ally also? You looked kind of worried when I told you what happened."

“Ugh, tell me about it. It’s kind of annoying the way he thinks he’s God’s gift.” Sloane thought Sirius was good looking but she didn’t quite understand why girls acted like they didn’t have a brain when they were around him. It was as if he sucked the brain power of every girl that was in close proximity to him. “But then again he is a nice guy and he is your friend, so I don’t think I should say such things about him.” She gave Remus a faint smile as if to apologize for what she had just said.

Not that she meant to, but Sloane kind of spaced out when talk of Peter came up again. It was odd…it was almost as if he really held no importance in her mind. Well he didn’t but that didn’t mean she couldn’t pretend to care. “Oh, yes I know. Peter is silly.” She replied not really sure of what Remus had said.

Sloane was a bit shocked as to the way Remus talked about his friends. She completely understood what he meant, they were always getting into trouble, and she could only imagine how Remus felt. He always seemed like the sensible one out of the group, the one that you could actually take seriously, the one that would have one girlfriend instead of two and not have three waiting on the sidelines.

“Well yes you shouldn’t say too much, but then you can’t hold all of your frustration in…you’d explode.” Sloane planned on keeping everything he had just shared private so he didn’t have to worry about his true feelings reaching his friends.

“Don’t worry Remus I won’t tell your friends you find them annoying sometimes. I mean I’m sure they get annoyed with you at times, being sensible when all they want to do is blow up the castle.”

At the mention that Sirius had his own apartment, Sloane wondered if she had heard him correctly. It was quite a shock, he was so young and already he was so independent.

“Apartment? You’re kidding right?” Sloane would give anything to live on her own and hearing that one of her classmates was doing just that was amazing. “Wow our little Sirius is all grown up. Well I would have wanted to stay home too if that would have been the case.”

Sloane laughed at Remus and pointed a finger at him, “Me? I didn’t get you to say anything. You let your mouth run on its own.” Seeing Remus stand up Sloane did the same and was happy he had invited her to the hospital wing. “Oh that would be nice. Poor Ally I’m sure she is in a lot of pain.”

Before exiting the Portrait Hole Sloane turned to Remus, “I bet you anything that Sirius has managed to make Madame Pomfrey fall in love with him. Not only is the student body in danger of Mr. Black but so is the faculty.” She let out a laugh before disappearing into the hall.

"Lily?" said Ally as her friend walked into the Hospital Wing. "Please tell that you're the only one coming. I really don't need a big fuss over me." She rolled her eyes and smiled weakly, feeling more sleepy by the minute. Sirius was the only thing that prevented her from falling asleep, not that she cared. Talking to Sirius was somewhat enjoyable. When he mentioned her losing money, she thought 'How can I, it's a safe bet?'

"Hey Ally how are you?" she asked pulling up a chair to sit down beside her best friend.

She caught herself looking arounf the hospital wing, almost expecting to see James Potter sitting there with Sirius. She was surprisngly disapointed. She shook the thought off and turned back to Ally who look her sick and tired.

"No, no don't apologize." Remus said, frowing abit. "You are right in saying he thinks such. Because his 'smiling' personality says that about him, you know." He shrugged his shoulders. "Sirius Black was born and destined to be the womenizer of Hogwarts. There's no doubt about it." It was true what she had said and he fully agreed with her. He just never wanted to mention that part infront of Sirius himself.

"I don't really talk about my friends much anyway, so there is no need to fear that i'll explode. It isn't as if I'm one to really talk behind their backs in the first place, because it makes me feel as though I'm betraying them in a sense." Remus admitted this, looking down at his school bag. "Sometimes I really don't know what their intentions are. They do somewhat good with their marks and all, but its more the point that their main-stay is in detention." Then he smiled widely, shaking his head. "Did you know Professor McGonagall is the one that gives him the least amount of detentions because he drools for her? I don't understand it. Not to say that the Professor isn't a kind heart, but wouldn't you think that's a bit high a standard, even for Sirius?" He asked this to himself more, aloud, then to her. Though he didn't usually think aloud.

Now Remus was following Sloane out of the portrait hole and walking beside towards the moving staircase that led to the Hospital Wing. He was chuckling about the remark she had made about Sirius owning his own apartment. "It's true though. I mean it's nothing to brag about of course, but in the means, it's a pretty decent place. One where he can cause all the trouble he wants inside and it doesn't really affect the surroundings." Remus confessed making a face.

"Anyway, the least I can do is thank for listening to me. Seeing as I just spent nearly a half hour rambling on about said nonsense you prolly don't care to hear a fool such as myself talk about." Admitting sheepishly, he continued forward, staring ahead. "But I'm sure Ally is alright. At least I hope so."

Before reaching the Hospital Wing Remus muttered, "As I've told you before it's not just Madame Pomfrey we should worry about it's Professor McGonagall too." He laughed softly and winked at her. "Though you're perfectly right in what you said, students and teachers alike are in the midst of trouble by a love-sick Sirius Black." And with that he entered to see Lily talking with Ally who was lying in the bed.

"Alright Ally??" He asked.

Sloane couldn’t agree more about Sirius being the womanizer of Hogwarts. That was a title she was sure he was proud of owning. “Uh, I really just think that they just want to have fun Remus. And I suppose they consider detention enjoyable?” she asked rhetorically.

Not really believing what he had said about Professor McGonagall, Sloane shook her head and laughed, “You’re kidding right? That is too much.” She was learning too much about Sirius Black and she wasn’t sure she liked it. It was all very amusing.

“No need to thank me Remus. That’s what friends are for.” She gently gave him a nudge with her elbow as they rounded the corner to the Hospital Wing.

“Love sick Sirius Black?” she repeated with a slight giggle before they entered the hospital wing. Walking closely behind Remus, she made sure to not step on his heels.

Reaching Ally’s bed Sloane gave her a wave and a smile. She saw that Lily was there as was Sirius. “Hi Ally. Feeling any better? Has the nurse come to see you yet?” Sloane looked around for Madame Pomfry but she was no where in sight.

Sirius was in two minds about leaving when Remus and Sloane joined them as well. It seemed soon enough the entire House of Gryffindor would be there. Perhaps they could have a party in the hospital wing; Sirius sure wouldn't have minded. Not at all.

Ally's eyes widened as the entire Gryffindor house suddenly began to appear. "I'm alright," she managed to utter weakly with a small smile. "No, Sloane, the nurse has not seen me yet, but I'm sure she'll get here soon enough." She was so embarrassed that everyone had come to see her. She wasn't that hurt....well, that was a lie, but she didn't like people making such a big deal out of it. Even Remus Lupin showed up. Ally was on better terms with him than the rest of the Marauders, but still...they weren't close chums.
