This is an RP about the Marauders' first year at Hogwarts. I'm not sure where this is going to go; it's up to the various interpretations of the characters by the RPers involved. Unfortunately, all characters have been assigned.

James' wand was out instantly as he heard Sirius' leg crack, he knew that the greasey kid had to be somewhere, there was no other explanation as to why all of a sudden his leg would break, he looked frantically as Sirius started crying, "shhh, I though I heard something over by that suit of armor"

Peter jumped as he heard something crack and nearly fell into tears himself as Sirius fell to the ground in pain. His eyes darted back and forth down the corridor and his heart was racing. However, he froze when James told Sirius to be quiet and turned his head toward the suit of armour, like a deer that senses a predator lurking.

Remus had just finished repairing James's glasses when Sirius fell. He reached for his friend, but Sirius was too far away. Leaping to his side, Remus crouched beside Sirius, gasping at the angle Sirius's leg stuck out at. He tucked James's glasses into his pocket and helped Sirius into a sitting position.

"Look," he said loudly. "We can stay here and try to find whatever git that cursed Sirius, or we can get him to the hospital wing. If you go after that Severus kid, he'll just hex you, and then I'll have to carry two or three of you down there. If you haven't noticed yet, I'm not that strong." He turned his back to James and Peter and whispered, "Mobilus Corpus." Sirius grunted in pain, and Remus apologized. "I'm sorry, Sirius, but this is better than sitting around and waiting for someone to come and help us." Remus began to move down the hallway, not bothering to see if the other two boys were following.

James debated chasing after whoever made the noise near the suit of armor but, seeing the fact that his glasses just left down the hall in Remus' pocket, he dedcided to follow them and help get Sirius to the Hospital Wing.

He caught them quickly and asked, "uh, Remus, may I have my glasses back?"

As Snape heard the echo of footsteps become fainter, he slithered out from his hiding place behind the suit of armour, smikring in the direction the Gryffindors had headed. Then, he turned on his heel and walked off towards his first class of the day, charms.

James took his glasses back from Remus, "thanks" and his world came into focus again, "I'm sure that greasey kid had something to do with this," he said trying to make small talk, James also didn't know the way to the Hospital Wing. The group rounded a corner when they came upon an older student who directed them to the HW. "Thanks," said James and they tried to pick up the pace, Sirius's leg really didn't look good.

Sirius was full prepared to just let Remus charm his leg off. He'd manage with out it, if the pain would stop. He took short breathes as he was trying hard not to bawl in front of his friends, and he especially didn't want to cry if Snape was still lingering about. Sirius let out a yelp when Remus elevated him. Sirius lifted his head to look at his leg, immediatly regreting doing so. Sirius was sure he was going to throw up any second...."Guys, I am going to be sick....Can we hurry this parade up before I gnaw my own leg off?"Sirius said trying to sound cool as he broke out into a cold sweat.

"Eww, gnaw off his own leg....isn't that what wolves do, " James said while looking at Remus who suddendly turned deep red in the face, but James didn't notice, "come on, let's hurry up" as the group finaly made it to the entrance to the Hospital Wing and went in.

"Hello, ah...hello, anyone in here," James asked since the room looked empty.

Remus stared hard at the floor and tried to force his discomfort down. The statement was innocuous and he needed to remember that they didn't know! He pushed past James into the infirmary, floating Sirius with him. "If you don't stop whining about your leg, I'll gnaw it off for you," he snapped a bit more harshly then he intended, feeling on edge from the turn of the conversation. "I'm part wolf, afterall." He turned from them and called out for the nurse, then settled Sirius on a bed.

Madame Pomfrey fluttered out of her office at the sound of students shouting just inside the infirmary. "What is going on here?" she asked before her eyes settled on the injured boy. Pushing the other students out of her way, she took the boy and laid him on a bed. "What in Merlin's name did you do? It's too early for first year flying lessons!" she tutted, examining the leg which had been broken at an odd angle, the bone nearly protruding from the skin.

Sirius looked up at the bubbly woman feeling tears forming again. "Is what happend really all that important? Can you please just fix me up before I am forced to do it myself?"Sirius said with obvious pain in his voice. He turned his face away from his leg and his friends as Madam Pomfrey approached him.

Poppy sighed and threw her hands up in exasperation as she rolled her eyes and approached the boy now laying down on the bed, his face turned away from the observers. She turned and flicked her hands, shooing the other three boys out, "Okay, you've got him here, now run along to your classes," she said but, seeing the reluctant looks on their faces she put a hand on her hip and fixed them with an irritated glare. "I assure you I am quite capable of handing this situation. He'll be healed in no time. Now, off to class you go."

With that, she spun on her heel and pulled a curtain around the injured boy's bed. She tutted as she looked at the leg once more. "Black, is it?" she asked, trying to remember him from the sorting ceremony, she always liked to memorise who the first students were and which houses they had been sorted into.

"Now, just stay still for just a moment while I mend this bone," she said, taking out her wand and pointing it at the protruding bone. "You may feel a some pain as I set the bone but, once the charm has been cast I can give you something for the pain. Are you ready?"

"Yes Yes I'm ready."Sirius said as he gripped the side of the bed with his hands. He actually was not ready and was not looking forward to more pain than he was already it. He closed his eyes tight and held his breath as she raised her wand.

Poppy placed a hand on the boy's knee to prevent him from moving and muttered her charm. The boy let out a squeak. "Hold still and don't touch it," she said and hastened to get him the potion for the pain. After he had gulped it down and relaxed a bit, she poked and prodded the newly healed leg before putting on a poultice and wrapping it up. "You'll have to stay here for the night, I'm afraid, just to be certain it's healed up properly. And no walking about, you'll be staying right here in the bed," she said, waggling a finger and giving him a stern look.

Sirius yelped out. It was a sharp stabbing pain and Sirius was sure that his leg was about to fall off. But he did as Madam Pomfrey told him and gulped down the potion she handed him in seconds flat. The potion worked almost immediately and Sirius, though still feeling a bit of a sting, was feeling much better. Madam Pomfrey was still lingering above him. "Thank you so much Madam Pomfrey." He said smiling widely up at her. "You know what Madam P? I bet you are the best bone healer around. And might I add the best looking one too." Sirius said as he rearranged his pillow. If he was going to have to sit around here all night, he might as well make friends with Pomfrey so she could keep him company.

Poppy smiled at the charming boy. "You're too kind. Now get some rest," she said. "I'll be in my office if you need me. Just give a shout." With that, she walked over to her office and shut the door, chuckling to herself at the Gryffindor lad. He was a charmer, that was certain.

A couple hours later, she walked over to the bed which housed Mr. Black, carrying a tray of food. The poor dear seemed to be just waking up from a nap. She placed the tray on a table with wheels, fixed the bed so he was sittin gup, and maneuvered the tray so he could eat. "There you are," she said, sitting down in a chair beside the bed. She was curious to find out how he had gotten in that condition so, attempting to channel her friend, the Headmaster, she decided to interrogate her winsome patient. "Now, perhaps you can tell me how you injured your leg like that."

Sirius had been dreaming peacefully and awoke to smell of food fuming the room. He nibbled a bit on the toast, and looked up at Madam Pomfrey. She was a very pretty lady, there was no denying that, and Sirius just really liked her. She seemed a bit high strung, but still very loveable. And Sirius, knowing himself better than anyone, knew that he'd probably be in this very room a good bit. Mischief seemed to always follow.

"Thank you so much, I was famished. I didn't get to eat this morning at breakfast" He said picking up his spoon. "Well, Madam P....you don't mind me calling you that do you?" He paused and smiled up at her and she nodded down to him. "Why don't you pull your chair a tad bit closer..and I'll tell you the whole story. Beginning to end with no lies Madam P." Sirius paused and let her scoot in closer then he started with train ride here. He did tell her the most of the truth.

"And when he broke my very best friends glasses Madam P, I couldn't help but to retaliate and knock him off of his seat." Sirius paused and put a deep look of sadness on his face and let out a deep sigh, "So..I guess I deserved having my leg broke by him Madam P." Sirius sighed again and looked deeply, almost overly, regretful of his actions. "And that Madam P is what happend."

Poppy couldn't help but smile at his nickname for her. He certainly was a a very charming kid so, she decided to let his little indescretion go. "Well, I suppose I can overlook what you did to Mr. Snape, just his once. But, I want you to keep out of trouble from now on," she said. Sirius gave her a genuine smile and insisted he would be good from then on, but she knew better. Poppy could see in his eyes that he was going to be a troublemaker and probably end up paying her a visit at least once a month....

Thinking about seeing a student once a month, she remembered that she needed to start preparing for Remus Lupin's special requirements. The full moon was fast approaching and she was supposed to help oversee the planting of a rare, whimping willow at the start of a tunnel which had been built to lead down to a house in the village of Hogsmeade. "Well, I'm afraid I have some business to attend to. But, I'm sure your friends will be along at any minute to visit," she said and then fluttered off to her office.

Peter actually awoke a little before the others the next day and managed to quietly get dressed and slip out of the common room. He had heard some older students mention something about getting food from the kichen... now if only he could find his way...

After a couple hours of wandering around the castle, activity in the corridors increased so that by the time he found his way to the portrait of fruit, Peter knew there really was no reason to be sneaking down to the kitchens as breakfast was now being served. But, determined to see if what he had overheard were true, he took out his wand and tickled the pear. The portrait moved and he entered the kitchens. After looking around in awe, a few house elves approached and asked him what he wanted. He ordered a large breakfast and the elves came back with enough food to feed him and his 3 new friends. His arms piled high with food, Peter realized that he had should probably share some of this food and that he didn't know how to get back to anywhere from here.

Luckily, the house elves were more than happy to help. Three of them took the food from Peter's hands and then walked with him through some secret house elf passages to get to the Hospital Wing. The elves placed the food on the bed next to where Sirius was sleeping and then, left. Peter tapped lightly on Sirius' shoulder and squeaked, "Sirius... I've brought you some breakfast..."

Sirius yawned widely and stretched his arms up high over his head. Finishing his yawn, scratched his tummy and said, "Morning Peter." He grabbed a bagel off the top and took a large chunk out of side of it, and mumbled through a full mouth, "Thanks for that." He scraped off the crumbs that he had messily dropped everywhere, then leaned up in his bed to see if Madam Pomfrey was up and her office yet. He motioned for Peter for to go and peep in to make sure she was in there. He nodded back to Sirius, and Sirius put a lip up to his mouth for Peter to be quiet. Sirius swung his legs out of the bed, and was determined to be up and out of the Hosital Wing as soon as possible. He lowered himself down and put his bare feet on the chilly floor. His leg was feeling a bit heavier than usual, but all in all pretty good. He stood with ease and took a few steps. A big grin spread across his face and he walked cooly over to Madam Pomfrey's office. He propped himself up on the door, and put one leg over the other, smiling over at her busy at her desk.

"And when were you going to check on me, Madam P? I missed you this morning..."He said giving her start.

Madame Pomfrey had been going over some recent articles regarding the care of lycanthropic patients when she was startled by someone standing in the doorway of her office. She immediately jumped up and ran over when she saw that it was Mr. Black up and about. She scooped the eleven year old boy up into her arms as she scolded him. "I told you to stay in bed!" she yelled as she struggled a bit to carry him towards the bed; it seemed the first years were getting heavier every year, or perhaps she was just getting too old to carry students without magic anymore. "Every time I tell them something... I never learn... Have to strap them to the bed..." she muttered to herself.

"Strap me to the bed?!" Sirius exclaimed and tried to wiggle free of her grip. She plopped him back down on the bed and had the covers already pulled up over him before he could slide out the other side. He pulled his arms out and laid them on top of the covers and sighed. "Fine Fine Madam P, I guess you do know best. But you did such a good job mending me right up yesterday, that I just wanted to try your handiwork out.... And might I add, that because of you Madam P, I'm feeling better than ever this morning. I think my leg is better off now than it was before. You must tell how you do it Madam P. " Sirius grinned up at her, then looked over to Peter and motioned for him to come over. "This is Peter, by the way."

"Flattery will not get you out of that bed any sooner, Mr. Black," she said, fussing with a potion and then, handing it to the boy. Then, she turned to the boy Black had introduced as Peter. He seemed frightened of her and she wondered how on earth he had been sorted into Gryffindor. "Hello, Peter. Why don't you just make sure your friend stays put while I attend to a few things in my office. Now, no funny business as I will be back promptly."

"I promise to be good, Madam P. For you. I'll stay right here," he said giving the bed a pat. He watched her disappear off in to her office then peered over to Peter."Dont be fooled by her, she comes off a bit uptight, but she's a softy." Sirius reached over and grabbed a couple of muffins off the tray and tossed one to Peter, then taking a bite out of his own. "So Peter, you skipping class for me?"

Peter listened to the nurse scolding Sirius and tried to hide himself in the corner. He was shocked when she put him in charge of trying to keep his friend put, as if he'd be able to do that. He crept back next to Sirius after she left and his eyes went wide at Sirius' question. "Cl...class?" he squeaked. "I... I... for...forgot!"
