Cale walked up to the door of the Black Manor and swiftly knocked on the door. Sighing, he glanced at his watch. Better late than never, right? He had gotten lost on the way, of course, which was why he was so late. He wasn't familiar with this area...or any area in town, really.

He had never really talked to Melinda much, but he had met her once or twice and thought she was really nice. And, he was kind of hoping Anna might be there. He knew they were good friends. Plus, Cale just liked getting together with girls, which was very rare with the whole seperate schools situation right now. And this would be the perfect time to get to know Melinda better.

"Well, Well if it isn't prefect boy Cale" Jason tld him laughing as he answered the door. "Well where is the girl you like so much, are we ever going to meet her?"Jason teased Cale about Anna his cousin which Cale has a crush on her.

Melinda heard the door knock. Who could it be? She thought to herself. She saw everyone there, but there was someone missing...Anna did not have a partner, her partner. Cale! She ran up the stairs of the basement door and opened it. "Hello...you must be Cale...thanks for coming..." She immediately said and smiled.

She didn't know Cale well, of course, she just had seen him when Jason had a fight with him at the Platform and once at the broomshed. Though, the whole situation, told by Jason during Hogsmade made Melinda wonder who really was Cale Newell.

"Ok...just come in, have a seat...dance, eat...there is pizza, cake, we are going to cut it in a few minutes with the whole Happy Birthday song..." Melinda suggested Cale.

"Hey Cale." He said to him. But Chris still didn't get what was going on with Jason and Melinda. He thought it would be better to stay out of it.

" Anna around for Cale?" Jason asked all. Jason and Cale are really good friends now.

Melinda could feel Chris was really confused about her. And, Jason, of course. She would be talking later about that matter, since they had lots to talk about, and that moment, Melinda expected not to have any distractions.

Chris put his arms around Melinda's waist, and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Reese threw her cup away and turned around and saw Cale.Okay.It seemed everybody was coming."Hey Cale,"she said.

Melinda felt Chris, his arms surrounding her waist. She just smiled and held his hands while on.

Chris smiled. He loved be around Melinda, he just loved everything about her.

Melinda just blushed when Chris was around. It was the best thing, after Victor died, that had happened to her. She didn't care if Chris was younger, or took advices from Jason sometimes, she just loved him the way he was.

"So you getting tired?" Chris asked her chuckling.

"Nope...I should be alright for the rest of the night..." Melinda said, smiling to Chris.

"Well that's good." Chris said smiling back at her.

Melinda smiled, well, couldn't stop smiling at Chris. She was so happy he had stayed at the party and spend it with her. She was so happy everyone she invited was there, she just was so happy.

"And what are you so happy about?" Chris asked her.

Melinda just nodded. It was so difficult to explain herself when laughter almost came out of her mouth. She kept on holding Chris's hands, that surrounded her waist and smiled.

Chris smiled. Then he started to kiss her.

Melinda kissed Chris back. She felt inside a heat, nothing out of the world. She stepped away after a little time, since she felt a tinkle in her former injured hand. That felt weird, a lot weird. She smirked, but soon that smirk turned into a smile.

Chris pulled out of the kiss. "I love you." He said. But as soon as he said it he wanted to take the words back, not know what Melinda would do or say.

Ouch. Mel didn't expect that. Wasn't supposed to be the girl who first said that? God...I mean, Merlin. She just stood there, with her eyes wide open and seeing Chris's reaction towards his own words.

Chris felt so stupid. His face was burning, he face was all red. He let go of her and couldn't look her in the eye. He just wanted to run far away from here.

"Ok, cool," Cale said, smiling awkwardly. He felt a little awkward being there, but he knew Melinda was nice, so he figured he would talk to her later. Chris was there...Oh yes, Chris! He had told Cale about him and Melinda a few times. Duh. Melinda was probably going to deal with him.

"Hey Chris," he replied with a small, giving his fellow Gryffindor a small wave.

"Hey there Jason," Cale greeted him with a grin, but blushed a second later as he brought up Anna...again. "She's um...I dunno, is she here?" he asked, his face turning crimson as he searched the crowd. He knew Anna knew Melinda a lot better than he did, so she was probably here somewhere...

Anna was right in the middle of making the rounds and talking with all her friends when she noticed someone who looked pretty familiar at the front door. "Cale?" she called out, still a little unsure as to whether or not the person at the door was actually him. He looked like Cale Newell, but it was a little too good to be true to actually be him.

Or not. "CALE!" she exclaimed, finding out about two seconds later that the person at the door was, indeed, the current object of her affection. Okay so she hadn't exactly told him that yet, but it didn't stop her from wanting to squeal and run right over and hug him.

She didn't do that, though, of course. Instead, she casually walked over to him like she would walk on over to any other person at the party. The only difference now was that her heart was pounding and she was pretty sure her hands were shaking a little, but maybe no one would notice.

"It's cool to see you here!" she casually greeted. "So...what's been going on?" Yeah, lame, but what else could she do? Being casual was just about the only way she could talk to Cale without accidentally revealing a little too much about him being the object of her affection.

Ahh, THERE she was. Smiling with delight, he made his way through the room to her. "Hey there," he said, pushing a curl out of his face. He made a mental note to get a trim so he didn't have to get doing that. It was getting uber annoying.

He tried not to chuckle to himself as he saw her nervously standing there. He wasn't exactly sure where they stood at the moment, so he had to admit, he was a bit nervous himself. Instead of worrying about it, he decided to break the ice. "Well, are you just going to stand there or are you going to give me a hug to say hello?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
