Amelia nodded at the conversation. "Yes, it seems to be a bit hectic today. I'm not exactly sure what Nicoli had in mind with the information about Adeline. But it may be worth mentioning to him about getting the info from the department of mysteries," she replied.

Amelia noticed another new arrival into the office and saw him putting his belongings onto a spare desk. 'Must be a new member to the team,' she though to herself. "Hi," she chirped, as she saw him looking around at the many faces in the vast room. As large as the office was, it was starting to get a bit cramped now. "I'm Amelia, I take it you're joining our little team."

Amelia then turned her attention to the conversation with Nicoli and Samantha. It did sound like it was a job for MLES. At least the matter at Hogwarts wasn't as urgent as before, but the new case sounded awful. "That poor girl," she said to Samantha, "as if she doesn't have enough to be going on with, grieving for her parents."

"Yes, I feel very badly for her, Samantha told Amelia, compassion in her voice. "Apparently her family never did anything to cause people to want to kill them, it really doesn't make any sense. Sometimes it all seems unfair, the things that people have to suffer." She shook her head.

Amelia watched the exchange between Forrester and Nicoli, and watched the expressions on each of their faces. She didn't blame Nicoli in the slightest for being annoyed that someone was trying to poach his cases, especially undermining him in his own office in front of so many people, including his employees. It just didn't seem right. She watched Nathan being dragged into this and gave him a sympathetic smile, thinking how awful it must feel to be dragged into the middle of things.

She waited for Nicoli's instructions, knowing that the cases were mounting up, but didn't want to interrupt mid flow of this discussion. This sounded like the most urgent case and demanded their full attention at this moment in time

Nodding at Nathan's reply, Apha knew where he was coming from. There would be no point Apha going to get the information - she didn't know what to ask for, and she wouldn't have the division head's permission to retrieve it anyway. She turned to Amelia as she spoke.

Getting more hectic by ze second, she thought to herself, nodding again. 'I will do, when he is free,' she commented, before glancing at the person who'd just worked in.

He looked as new as she was to this Ministry, and Apha smiled welcomly at him. Judging by what she'd heard from Nathan, not one but two extra pairs of hands would come in handy. She then turned back in Nicoli's direction, waiting politely for him to finish.

Nathan felt like he’d been confounded. He was utterly confused by the conversation between Nicoli and Forrester and could sense the underlying friction between the two of them. He did feel for Nicoli - this really wasn’t fair on the man who was fairly new to this job. He should be left to handle things in his own way.

He felt like a right divvy just standing there, adding to the crowd around Nicoli’s desk. He wasn’t entirely sure what he should be writing, so just scribbled down absolutely everything. Best to have too much information than miss out something important. He looked at back at his illegible scrawl – Nathan should have been a muggle Doctor – or not. The poor patients.

He noticed the sympathetic look from Amelia and returned it with a knowing smile and nod.

As Steven looked at the confounded Nathen, he noticed a lady smile at him. He smiled back and got a bit embarresed. Another lady asked him if he was new here in which he replied " Yes, My first day. My Names Steven Westaway, by the way".

"Yes. We will be doing that, as I implied earlier," Nicoli said to Forrester, the nerve. Telling him what his department is to do. Absolutely shameless. "I believe in time I can also send a few of mine to swap with your aurors. Just a matter of telling me when you need them." That was how it was done! Assist, not control. Nicoli could feel his nails digging into the palms of his hands, all in the effort not to cause a scene in front of the new employees. Which, he realized at the sound of a unfamiliar voice, he had been leaving unattended.

Ah. Steven was it? Nicoli noticed the somewhat strained faces of his slightly more experienced employees. This wasn't helping them in the least, after all, he'd just put them through a emotionally intensive questioning that would likely give them nightmares-and in Nathan's case, alcohol-cushioned sleep. Unless he lightened up, he'd end up taking them over the edge. "How long will you be needing Nathan?" he asked. If it was too long then he'd have to miss out on the capture mission and go over the evidence with him. At least he can do two things at once. Three, if he counted what he couldn't do before. "Miss Rose?" he asked. She'd been strangely quiet recently.

"Yes, I feel very badly for her", Samantha told Amelia, compassion evident in her voice. Steven looked around and for the first time, realised that he wasn't alone.

"It could have been something that her parents were, the people they associated with...their hair colour," Nicoli said softly to Samantha, "Hardly makes any sense, but absolutely anything can drive a person to kill. Rosalina might not even be the person the killer actually wants to kill...and in fact thinks she's someone else." It was cruel, but possible. Nicoli gave her a small smile which he then let upon Nathan and Amelia in turn. The horrible things they'll all have to go through. Together.

Forrester watched as Nicoli took the lead again. You need to lay back a bit... It's important that he lead his own team Forrester thought as he looked at Nicoli.
"Very well after all that I really think we should place a plan of action? What do you think we should start doing?"Forrester asked Nicoli.

Nicoli collected his thoughts for a minute, well the ones that mattered anyway. "As we begin the protection of Miss Rosalina, and perhaps of Miss Choe, I believe the only proper action to take would be to question the two witnesses we already have. Collect as much information as possible...You mentioned that Rosalina got threatening notes? That might mean we may have to watch the house as well and make the protection less detectable." Nicoli paused for a minutes, thinking up all the possibilities, "If we are very lucky, we can catch the murderer or an associate in the act of leaving another note, or watching the house as well. If not, we'll have to use the information gathered from Choe and Rosalina to capture at least a suspect."

Nicoli glanced at Samantha, who may have been somewhat out of place in the conversation. "Ms Rose, do you have any suggestions or other information that may help?"

"I have one suggestion... I guess calling Ms. Rosalina and Ms. Choe to the ministry should be done right now but they should be escorted. I wil have some from my aurors get on the job but Im kind of short on staff maybe you can assign some of the MLES and Hit Wizards... And I guess placing the two girls in different places would be better what do you think?"

Nathan was frantically scribbling everything down, but beginning to wish Forrester had conjured him a muggle notebook and pen rather than this parchment and quill malarkey. His hand was beginning to ache - pens are much easier to write with than a scratchy quill, and maybe there would be more hope of reading back what he had written. But at least now he could put on his CV that he had has secretarial experience. Perhaps tomorrow he would don a mini skirt and sit at his desk filing his nails all day.

He looked from Forrester to Nicoli resisting the temptation to raise his eyebrows as Forrester asked if the MLES could spare any staff. He stood poised, waiting for Nicoli’s response. Merlin’s beard, Nathan couldn’t wait to get away from this place today!

"I'm afraid not. As I said, the case was brought to my attention by Cloe. I would definitely suggest interviewing her further as well as Rosalina herself. If I do get wind of anything else, I will definitely bring it to this department's attention immediately," Samantha promised.

"I think I can spare some Hit Wizards, however, the MLES have to stay with me. I'll send them to your office as soon as possible." Nicoli said considering the fact that Forrester assumed he could spare staff.

The expression in Nathan's eyes were all he needed to know. He wasn't the only one thinking sparing MLES was ludicrous.

"I agree," he said slowly to Forrester's last question, "It will be in their best interest, though it may lose us a few clues."

"I guess you would want to have a copy of this parchement" Forrester said as he placed one of the copies on Nicoli's desk and gave another to miss Rosa as he placed his own copy in the interior pocket of his robes.
"Keep me in touch with everything... Goodbye" Forrester said as he walked towards the door and moved towards his office first.

Alexa swung open the door and was stunned by a busy scene. Hit Wizards were running around with prisoners, Aurors supporting massive files of paperwork and hurried expressions shown by the whole workplace. Alexa tried to find someone in charge but to no avail. She looked around her new home and tried to find some comfort in the grey walls and 'too busy too talk' colleagues. She wound her way through the room and tried to find her boss

She began flicking through to file for this case as she briefed "The informatioin we have so far is that fake love potions are being sold in Diagon Alley. No side affects at the moment, but there is the posibility that the culpret could escalate and the potions become dangerous. The information was all sent by anonymous owls, one lead is that one of the owls used was hired from the post office from Diagon Alley, so I think that is the best place to start looking into this." She glanced up at Steven from the folder and saw him absorbing the information.

Amelia noticed another person enter the room, looking quite eager and seeming to look for someone in particular. "Hi," she chirpped, "Can I help you?" She thought to herself, 'Looks like we have another pair of hands to help out.'

Amelia was watching Nathan from her seat and saw that he was busy scribbling away. She didn't understand why they were utilsing the talents of an accomplished MLES officer when a quick quotes quill would have done (thank goodness they didn't make them all like the ones Rita Skeeter used so long ago). He seized this opportunity to speak to the man regarding the fountain in the Atrium. If he didn’t do it now, there would probably be no other chance to, given the current situation in this office. “I hate to add to an already stressful day, mate.” He started. “But the fountain in the Atrium has been vandalised. The head of the wizard has been removed.” That smirk was threatening again. Oh Merlin… he forced himself to take this seriously. It was, after all Ministry property even if Nate did disagree with the subject matter. “I’m not sure if it’s us or security who needs to look into it, but as it was brought to my attention…” he thought he better let Nicoli know.

Nicoli watched as Forrester began babbling incoherently again. He inclined his head as the sheet of parchment was slid across the table and he picked it up immediately. "At least he's organized," he said in an undertone, slipping the parchment into a folder and yet another copy he'd just made into one of his drawers.

Turning his attention to Miss Rose he asked, "How soon will we be able to talk to Choe and Rosalina?" They needed to go on that mission, didn't they? It was about time that the small group got going. He would stay behind this time. Amelia could handle that. He might let Nathan rest up a bit, but he'll have to go through the evidence like he said before. If he was lucky that'll be postponed by the girl's questioning. This time in a more friendly environment.

Nicoli looked up at Nathan as he spoke, eyes glittering once again. "Thanks, mate," he said slowly remembering now the flyer he had received regarding the Magic is Might fountain and the stand against it. Seemed like they'd started getting violent.

He opened a drawer and removed a long, white-feathered quill from his desk. It was self-refilling of course. He didn't use any but. A sheet of parchment came next and a note was scratched across the sheet in rapidity. The long, italic letters melded together and created a beautifully penned letter, finished with the scrawl of his name: Nicoli Vanhatck.

Tapping the parchment three times and flicking upwards, the note folded itself into the shape of a paper plane and with a muttered destination, shoot off through the crack between the door and it's door jamb.

Nicoli's eye strayed towards the door as yet another new recruit entered the office. Maybe he would have her stay too. No. She would have to get a little more experience. After one mission they should be fine. If not, he'll have them in for the questioning. Today would be mostly non-stop.

"Right," he said over hearing the information Amelia had given the others. Before he began his quick send off and power hand over he decided to get the other new recruit into the loop. "Hey there," he said still seated and beginning to forget about Miss Rose's presence. "I'm Nicoli Vanhatck, your head. Welcome. I think you can join the group over there..." he said gesturing to Amelia and the others once again. "Amelia'll brief you."

"Yeah, this job is full of surprises," she replied, surpressing a giggle.

Amelia gestured over to new girl and began to retell the information she had.

"That's all I have at the moment, but with us tackling this together, we should get to the bottom of it," she said, confidently, looking at the two new recruits.

Steven got ready to go and then asked, " How will we get their?".

"Hold your horses!" Nicoli said to Steven and the others. "There's just the one thing I need to tell you all." Nicoli stood up and wandered over to the group. "Seeing as we now have enough people to split the responsibilities, I'm going to leave you in charge of this capture, Amelia." Nicoli's glimmering eyes lowered down to look at her. "When you get to the post office, just go ahead and get into the Manager's office. They can't do anything to you while you've still got your badge." Nicoli looked up at the others, "I'll give the rest of you your badges after the mission. Oh, and Nathan, you get to stay here," he gave him a little smirk. Boy, would he enjoy what he had in store for him!

"Remember, the owls were sent recently, so you can ask for the owls rented in this month. It maybe worth something to ask about the store as well, the manager might know something about it." Nicoli ruffled his hair slightly, trying to remember anything he'd forgotten. "Oh, yeah. If you happen to get the name of the store or anything just return and brief me. Then you all can go on and capture the shopkeeper."

"Nicoli stepped lightly over to the window as spoke softly. "Don't draw too much attention. We don't want to have too much trouble on this." Brightening up immediately, "As to how you'll get there, apparation of course! Get as close as you can."

Nathan was getting ready to leave, feeling quite clueless about the case, when Nicoli told him he had to stay. What in Merlin’s Y-fronts had he done to deserve this? He wondered whether Nicoli thought he couldn’t be subtle enough for this mission after the performance with old Floyd Flooing in the Raven’s Claw. Nathan did have more sense than that. You only learn from your mistakes after all. He merely nodded and sat down again.

He was doing it again! Thinking too much …and not very rationally either. It was probably nothing against Nathan - perhaps he was going to help go through the evidence in the Flooing case… Oh joy of joys. What a barrel of laughs that would be – not. Or maybe his invaluable secretarial skills were going to be taken advantage of again. ‘Stop thinking Nate!’ he told himself.

He looked at his colleagues and gave them all a smile. “Good luck you lot.” He said. He looked at Amelia and gave her a broad grin, leading the mission and all. She was doing very well for herself.

He turned back to look at Nicoli. “What joyous task have you got for me then, mate?” he asked with a smile, noting the smirk gracing Nicoli’s lips. Whatever it was, Nathan was sure it wasn’t particularly funny.

Amelia nodded at Nicoli's instructions and got up from her desk. "Fantastic," she said, "we better get cracking then." She felt the weight of responsibility pushing on her shoulders with the fact that she was heading the mission. 'I better not mess up' she told herself. "Shall we go?" she said to the others.



"Thanks Nathan," she said to him, wondering if everyone could see the look of apprehension on her face. "At least you get a break cos you've been non-stop today. You take it easy on him Nicoli."

Amelia then left the room to go and change into her robes again and then off to Diagon Alley.
