Albert Kettleburn EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Albert Kettleburn [IC January 2081 - December 2086; OOC June 2013 - January 2015]
'Allie! Are you OK, now? I remember we were ice-skating and then you were on the floor!' Holli said worried. Her sister was especially clumsy... Yes, Holli had her moments, but Allie's moments were all the time!,
'Yeah, i'm fine,' said Allie, flattening her hair. 'I just broke an ankle, and I'm not sure it was mended right...' Allie trailed off. She didn't really need to have this conversation right here and now. Allie had broken her bones so many times from clumsy accidents, that, if she were a muggle, there would probably be nothing left of her.
Allie sat on a chair, looking nervously around the room. It seemed to her that Holli had already settled in. Allie wasn't antisocial, and made friends easily, but being in the wrong place at the wrong time always put her behind in starting things. Allie still wasn't sure how she was made Quidditch captain, after suffering so many injuries, but this was the kind of job she had wanted, knowing she was too clumsy to be in a proper team.

'Dang... Well, come on! I'll introduce you to everyone!' Holli grinned at Allie. 'Hey, guys, this is Allie! Allie, guys!' Holli laughed. Yeah, she wasn't good at humour...
"Maine will do, Miss Rayne. I've been called that so long, that it sticks. Also the fact that I rarely respond to the full first name." Maine grinned.
Katrina smiled back and nodded. "Of course, just call me Katrina," she said as she raised her cup. Miss Rayne made her feel just a tad bit too... old and she was fairly certain she wasn't yet.

'Hello everyone,' she smiled nervously, entering the room and dropping her bag on the floor as it slid off her shoulder. Was there anyone in the world as clumsy as me?, Allie thought, blushing and picking it up. 'I'm Holli's twin....'
Katrina looked and saw someone stumbling in. "Hello," Katrina greeted with a warm smile. The woman looked more nervous than she had on her first day of work. With a giggle she gestured to a seat, "Feel free to sit, none of us bite," Katrina reassured the woman. And at least there weren't figurines attacking the woman the second she had entered like they had her when she first started.
"I'm Katrina," she added, offering the woman a hand to shake.

'What's happened in your morning then? I don't know what I'm meant to be doing... Hopefully, I will soon!' Holli said enthusiastically. She couldn't wait to work!

"Hello, Allie." Charmayne smiled. "I'm Maine. Charmayne Dawn LeBlanc, but you'd stick to Maine unless you'd like to be hexed."
Maine smirked, Allie sure thought very loudly. She couldn't help it, but her Legimens slipped and she heard that thought as clearly as though she had said it out loud.
"Oh, but Allie?" Maine added before finishing her expresso. "There's always someone more clutzy than you. You should have seen me before the Veela genes started kicking in. I knocked over loads of vases back in Beauxbatons. I got loads of detentions for those...."

'I don't think there is anyone more clumsy than me,' laughed Allie, sipping some coffee. 'The amount of times i've broken bones....' she said reminiscently. 'Just ask my twin, Holli.' Allie seemed to have several accidents daily, some out of pure stupidity, and some because of clumsiness. 'I'm not sure how they managed to make me quidditch captain in my 6th year,' she laughed.
'So you went to Beauxbatons?' Allie continued, 'that's in France, isn't it?' Allie had never really found other wizarding schools intresting, and was perfectly happy at Hogwarts, but was sure she heard the name between yawns in a history of magic lesson at some point.

"I'm sure I was much more clumsy than you'd imagine a Veela could be. Well, an unrealized Veela, but a Veela nonetheless. It's quite alright, I understand the broken bones." Maine grinned. "But once my hair was so badly damaged they had to cut it off, and cuttting Veela hair is like cutting off an arm or a leg. It's a part of you."
"You play Quidditch?" Maine gasped. She'd always loved Quidditch, she played against her brother all the time, until he got married. That was when Maine took up jogging. "Yes, I went to Beauxbatons. Lovely school, full of -select few- lovely people. I took my degree in Hogwarts, though. I was sorted into Slytherin. Professor Binns never retired, did he?"
"I should go, but do come and help out in the Waiting Area, though... We're redecorating!" Maine grinned as she waved goodbye from the doorway.

Jen was past the concerned point as she stood there staring at the large billiards table in the break room. She had been concerned when she couldn't get through the floo gate she was trying to get to fix. Well she had obviously found the problem. Now she was nearing the freak out moment.
Having made made plenty of room in the break room, Jen began walking around the table looking at it carefully. She hadn't touched it besides landing on it in the flooing process, she knew better than to touch it. Something this odd in a wizard's fire could mean anything possibly dangerous, that's why the moment she got back she sent a message along to Ben Amsten to come have a look at it. Though she hadn't exactly told him what "it" was, just that she "really thought he should come down and take a look" at it.
Jen leaned in and peered into one of the pockets of the table, "Come on, tell me why you were in the fire." Jen whispered, it was a good thing she had shut the door or someone might have thought she had gone mental, talking to a billiards table like that.

Oh. The Detective, wearing his trademarked Fedora and Suit- and carrying his briefcase, took a look at a long billiard table. THAT came through a floo? The man pushed up his bottle glasses charmed to keep out unfriendly eyes and looked over to the woman there, whom he didn't even notice compared to the pool table. "Jen Hill, I presume?" the man's American Accent shined through. "Detective Benjamin Amsten, Director of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Offices." He held out his hand, politely.

Aidon leaned back in his chair, pleasantly enjoying his Pumpkin Pasty as more of his coworkers arrived into the break room. Unfortunately, he had gotten up to use the restroom while everyone else proceeded to introduce and chat amongst themselves. Several minutes later, the Senior Broom Supervisor returned to the break room to see that several of his coworkers had left, and that two more had arrived. He recognized Jen Hill from the Floo Corrections Division but there was a man that Aidon was quite sure worked in Magical Law Enforcement. And what else, there was a large billiards table in the room? It hadn't been there when he left. Abandoning his half-eaten pumpkin pasty and frappuccino, Aidon approached Jen and the Magical Law Enforcement employee.
"What's going on here. . . Jen, right?" he asked, eyes flitting between the two adults and the billiards table, which apparently Jen was talking to. "And you are?" he asked, not without a tone of coldness in his voice. Usually he was all for meeting fellow Ministry employees, but with the current situation having Armen, their Department Head, gone off to an urgent Department Head meeting, Aidon couldn't be too sure about what was going on. Things were getting more and more suspicious as he continued his job at the Ministy.

Upon hearing the door open, Jen turned quickly to see who it was, she didn't need anyone who wasn't involved with the floo networks or misuse of muggle artifacts, things could get ugly considering they had no idea what was going on yet. She wasn't even sure if it was safe to touch the thing or not without getting seriously injured. Seeing it was the man who she had called on, Jen let out a deep breath of relief. "Thanks for coming down Detective, uh, sir." Jen said as she closed the space between them. She shook his hand briefly, nodding her head, "That's me, alright." She confirmed.
She turned to face the billiards table. "Got a call from a wizard, said he needed his floo connection worked on, wasn't working properly. And, well, I found this." Jen concluded. "Haven't touched it other than accidently landing on it in the fire. All I've done was shrink it enough to get it out and in here so we could see it properly." Jen added on as she continued to walk around the table.

Upon hearing the door open the second time, Jen's head snapped up to see who it was. She hadn't really met Aidon, but she knew kind of who he was. And if she could recall correctly, he didn't have a thing to do with the floo department or the detective's department.
"Major issues with a floo connection." She answered sternly. Normally she would have been a lot more friendly towards him, but considering what they were trying to figure out, she was tense and probably sounded a bit rude.

Aidon looked slightly taken aback at the abruptness of the Floo Network Division employee's answer. His eyebrow rose suspiciously, but he didn't leave the room. It was the break room, after all. Instead, he slowly made his way back to his table. His pasty was stale, and the ice in his frappuccino had melted. With a wave of his wand, a new pasty appeared on his plate and his frappuccino refilled and chilled in his cup. He reached forward and picked up the mug, took a sip, and continued to look over at Jen, the billiard table, and the Magical Law Enforcement employee.

What the heck? Ben looked at Jen to know if she knew why he was there. He seemed to be asking a lot of questions... Wanted to know who he was. "Detective Benjamin Amsten." He waited for Jen to go on about the floo problem. And Ben didn't have to say anything.

Eyebrows raised, she watched as Aidon continued on with his little routine with his form of coffee and pastry. She cleared her throat. "Aidon, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. Things are a dangerous point right now, considering we don't know what we've got on our hands." She told him, voice still stern. It was definitely no laughing matters, the last thing she wanted was a co-worker to get hurt.

Jen watched the detective carefully, trying to read what he was thinking through his facial expressions. She watched as he introduced himself to Aidon, and she was thankful he seemed to have the same demeanor towards having Aidon there who had absolutely nothing to do with the situation.
When Ben pulled his wand back, Jen took a step to the side and one step back, just to make sure he had enough room to do whatever it was that he was going to do. She felt slightly relieved when he turned to Aidon and told him that he'd have to leave...though the fact that he hadn't disclosed yet what if anything there was attached to the table to worry about.

Aidon at least appreciated the fact that the man from Magical Law Enforcement introduced himself, albeit stonily. He was taking another sip of his coffee when Detective Amsten asked him to leave. Had it been under any other circumstance, Aidon might have left. But something oddly fishy was going on, and since his Department Head was busy, he felt obligated to take matters in his own hands. He was an administrative employee of the Magical Transportation Department after all.
"I work here, I have every right to stay here," he said to the both of them, fighting the urge to retort coldly. "For goodness sake, this is a BREAK ROOM! Why, of all places in the Department, did you bring it here?" He asked Jen. This was absolutely absurd. And it wasn't like Aidon wasn't a fully accomplished, adult wizard himself. He could handle staying in his own break room, sipping coffee, while a potentially dangerous pool table was being examined across the room. As the adrenaline pumped inside him, he couldn't help but marvel over his newly founded determination.
"I can...help you know," he added. After all, it was a pool table, and the fact that it appeared through the Floo Network didn't mean that he wouldn't be of help. He would much rather discover what was wrong with the table than go back to the work area and place ficus around. That was boring.
This is on a different timeline than the other RP. ;)

Benjamin read this guy's body language like a kid's picture book. It was clear he was one of the division heads. And with the department head gone to whatever the meeting Lord Borr called was for, he thought he should take charge. And then he asked the most ridiculous questions. The Detective could have easily gone off on him about how superior in every way Ben was to him, but there were relations to keep, and Ben was at the Transportation Department for two reasons that day. But he had an answer.
"Ms Hill here," Benjamin began, "Obviously brought the pool table in here because the rest of your department is busy. I saw the work area when I came in, I can assume the conference room in being used, and frankly, this room is much more private." He started taking off his suit jacket and Fedora to get ready to take a look at the billiard table. He answered the man's question towards Jen to prove that he was, indeed a Detective. "My question is, why aren't you working?" Ben looked at Aiden with a look before adding, "Don't answer that."
He decided to ignore Aiden's comment about helping. Because frankly he couldn't. Aiden worked in transportation, probably something with broomsticks- since Ben had touch base with the other divisions. "Now, I'm declaring this room as Director of Misuse of Muggle Artifacts as Dangerous and off limits. And I'm going to have to ask you kindly... to please leave." He kept his cool, kept calm, and added a smile- placing his jacket and Fedora on a chair.

Aidon glared at the Magical Law Enforcement employee, for he was scrutinizing the young man. He still thought it was suspicious and unfair for him and Jen to be utilizing the break room and to be prude enough to kick him out. However, Aidon's defiance was dwindling, and he figured there was no point in arguing with the man. He finished his pasty, drained his mug of coffee, and looked at the man.
"You know what they say about assuming," he muttered. He stood up, however, at Amsten's rude comment about him working. "I am at perfect liberty to come and go from my breakroom, thank you very much. And I don't need some official from another Department waltzing into my department and being all high and mighty. I don't appreciate being bullied around like that." He said icily. "Don't expect me to just acquiesce and leave. You haven't heard the last from me!" He said angrily. He picked up his dish and cup, threw them into the sink with a loud clattering and the obvious sound of ceramic shattering. He stomped over to the door, opened it, gave a look of anger at Amsten, and slapped the door very hard.

Um...
Benjamin watched this man rant with confusion and uncertainty. Ben was a Magical Law Enforcer he has a governmental right to declare things necessary for a case, and it was clear this man didn't get it. He was trying to help him not get hurt. And besides, he was more in danger with their cultist department head than a pool table. The Detective decided to do nothing in response than to give Jen a look at 'waltzing' and 'bullying' like 'I didn't do that, did I?'
And then he ended with 'You haven't seen the last of me!' which took so much for Ben to not crack up laughing. What is he, some sort of Batman villain?
He heard the plate and cup crash and raised dual eyebrows. He was waaaaaay over-reacting. As there was a moment of silence. "Um..." he finally said out loud.
Anna, after setting up things right on her new desk and after making the place a bit more of a working area. She walked in the break room to relax and have some great coffee. She walked towards one of the table and sat taking a cup of coffee in her hand. She looked around to see if there was any floo employee in the room, she hadn't met all of them, though, but she knew one. Trying to remember her name, Anna looked around and saw her sitting in front of her, aah, Jen, there she got her name. She was sitting with someone. Anna knew he wasn't from this department at least. She walked closer to her and said "Hey, having some coffee?"

Jen had opened her mouth to retort back to Aidon, things that were deffinitely not professional along the lines of asking him if she should have moved a potentially dangerous artifact to the toilets instead. It was a good thing that Ben had interrupted and took over from there, Jen probably would have made the situation with Aidon a bit more difficult.
When Ben made a jab about Aidon not being out in the work areas actually working, she couldn't help but laugh in her head as she turned away from the two men and focused on looking at the table for any marks that looked unfamiliar.
Jen was relieved when Ben finally declared the space off limits, Aidon would have to leave now.
SPOILER!!: Aidon

Jen rolled her eyes. "Throwing a fit doesn't look professional at all." Jen imputed as she watched Aidon throw a fit that could probably be labeled as a four year old banging his fists on the floor. It didn't look at all professional in Jen's eyes, and she was almost embarrassed to have Ben witness such an outrage from the department, let alone from someone who was supposed to be a leader.
SPOILER!!: Ben

Now that Aidon was out of the room Jen let out a deep breath. "I apologize on behalf of the rest of the department on that fit that you just had to witness, detective." She told him. Things like that could give the department a bad name, and Jen was sure others wouldn't be too thrilled about that.
"Now then, what do you need me to do, if anything at all?" Jen asked Ben as she moved towards him, leaving a couple feet between her and the table and Ben. "Don't know much about this sort of thing, but I'm willing to help in whatever way it is, including if it means stepping out of the room." She added on, granted she didn't like the idea of leaving it ALL up to Ben to figure out, she felt like she still was apart of the investigation of the pool table, but he was the one who knew what to do after all, and she'd oblige by it...without throwing a tantrum.

Jen chuckled, "I uh, had to call in the detective here to help me. Landed on the table in the fire when I went on a call to help a wizard fix his floo connection." Jen explained.
"Detective this is the head of the floo network, Anna Smith." Jen introduced, "And Anna this is Detective Benjamin Amsten of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Offices." Jen finished.

Benjamin let out a laugh at the apology. "No, I get it... I freak out often as well," especially when the entire Ministry as you know it gets thrown upside down by some fat dude with a mustache. And that man was not under Benjamin's concern anyhow. There were other divisions, and important people, needing The Detective's attention in Transportation.
"Ah, right, well..." Ben turned towards Jen and took a step towards her, looking at her. "I'm going to need you to recount anything you know about this table. That includes how you found it, who had it, where they got it from and so on..." That was really important for many reasons. From finding out who to arrest, to what spells could possibly be put on it.

OH, WHO NOW?!?!!?!?
Benjamin turned towards the door a bit annoyed that he couldn't get to work. Someone had to be baaaarging in. 'Oh, I wanna take a break... Oh, I need a drink.' GOSH, PEOPLE ARE NEEDY!!!
This person just walked riiiight up to the coffee without a wink at the GIGANTIC POOL TABLE IN THE ROOM. Some people are so nuts. Ben kept his cool on the outside as the woman approached the two of them..
Ooooooh.... Her supervisor. Okay, now Ben got why she could be in there. In fact, she may be able to help. "I wish we could meet on a much less... strange... occasion, Ms. Smith," he extended his hand for a handshake. This one doesn't seem crazy.

As Anna came near by the two of them, she couldn't believe what she saw Whaa? it that a pool table in the room? Hmm.. But what's it doing here. She though. Now she was getting it all right, it was now time to get to work. Something made her very sad, she had only this time to relax and have some coffee, how can this happen to her. No she didn't care about the pool table or whatever. She just wanted to have some coffee that's all. But still there was something stopping her and telling her to get to work. After all she's the head of Floo Network, she couldn't just leave like that, she had to do something about this.
She started to have a careful look at the pool table and couldn't much concentrate when Jen talked to her; she was busy staring at the table. "Hmm, yeah, Nice to meet you." All she heard was the word detective. "Okay, so you're going to investigate on this, so how's that we could help?" Anna had no idea what exactly was going on in the room, she didn't even know there was a pool table in the room a few minutes ago, and now they had to do something about this. "Detective Ben, did you find any clues in here?" she asked. She didn't know what the detective had in his mind. I guess that's what detectives do find clues and clues and just a lot of clues.. She though.

Allie walked into the break room. A break. A nice long break, and some coffee. That would be great. Knowing her, something was bound to go wrong, but then it always did. She walked over to the coffee machine, grabbing a chocolate muffin along the way. Work, proper work, wasn't really that bad, she thought. Ok. she had to work, but everyone was friendly and the muffins were amazing.
With extreme caution, Allie got herself some latte. The break room had people in, but her enthusiasm for coffee meant she hadn't really noticed who was in it. Putting her coffee carefully on a table, amazed she didn't spill any, Allie flopped onto one of the sofas.
