Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

Severus looked up from his plate of toast at Lily. He scowled when he saw he talking to Remus. That half breed was not fit to sit in Lily's presence. He bitterly ripped a chunk out of his toast and stuffed it into his mouth.

Hey Remus." she said smiling. "No, nothing really new, would you like to look it over?" she asked handing him the paper.
She glanced over at Severus to see him toast her and she smiled before turning back to Remus.

Severus saw Lily's smile, and he felt himself blush slightly beneath his curtain of stringy hair. He grinned back at her, shooting a small glare at Remus, glad he would not see it.

"Thanks." Remus replied softly, setting down his own toast and unfolding the paper before him. Skimming the articles was easy, as for there was nothing new or interesting to look at. Seeing as nothing was particularly interesting, he set it back down beside Lily and picked up his pumpkin juice. At least breakfast was good.

She took a sip of her pumpkin juice and almost choked as James said good morning to her. She scolded herself in her head, why should him saying hello to her be of any importance.
"Hello James." she said quickly. "I trust you slept well?" she said with all the politeness she could muster.

James could hardly contain his large grin, fighting it into a small smile. The fact that Lily Evans was being kind to him was positively amazing.
"Yes, I slept well. Did you?" he replied as calmly as he could.

Lily fumbled with her toast and set it down, not meeting his eyes. She had slept particularily well, seeing as he had been the object of most of her dreams, those that she could remember anyways.

James nodded to Lily as she assured him that she had slept alright. "that's good," he said mildly, his insides practically dancing the congo. He continued looking at her for a moment, then, realizing that he was staring, forced his stare back down onto his plate.

Remus chuckled on the inside, watching the seemingly awkward moment between James and Lily where they were actually getting along. Although he couldn't believe that they were being curtious towards eachother, he realized that maybe one day, before long, they would end up together. True, that would give everyone a heart attack really, but it was possible. Then again, he wasn't sure how Sirius would take it.

Looking away from the pair and deriving those thoughts, he picked at a piece of egg, midly hungry.

When his appetite was finally fulfilled, he picked up the paper again and decided to read through it although there wasn't anything too interesting to read.

Lily looked down uncomfortably and grabbed a piece of toast. Why was this so difficult for her, she couldn't like him, she had to be polite. She shook her head and poured herself some pumpkin juice, keeping her eyes directed downward in confusion over her own emotions.

"Depressing," Sirius muttered, the thought of Potions with Slytherins quite vivid in his mind. Despite the unlikely turn-out of the previous night, the regular wannabe academic atmosphere had settled back into his life. Of course he didn't want to go to Potions. He didn't want to study, or pour his head in a book. "We can always skip Potions..." Sirius suggested, winking at James and Remus.

As Lily settled herself at the Gryffindor table, at last, Sirius spent a moment eyeing her half-suspiciously. He tried hard to ignore the awkwardness that now seemed canon when it came to James and her. "And where have you been?" he asked, not really remembering when he had ever witnessed Lily Evans being late to anything, breakfast included.

James nodded in agreement with Sirius's statement. It was indeed a depressing thing, Potions. "Yeah, mate. I'm up for skipping class," he replied lazily and poured himself a large amount of pumpkin juice. "How about you, Moony?" he asked, lifting his eyebrows at his best friend.

At James' inquisition, Remus turned to him and gave him the 'I-dont-think-so' look that meant he really didn't think skipping was going to solve anything. And so he mentioned so. "Skipping Potions is only going to land you two in detention." He stated as-a-matter-of-factly. As if that's not unusual.. he then mused to himself.

Although at times he wished he could be like the two of them and skip a class, he knew he would gain nothing from it. And he wasn't one to go off and land himself in detention. He recalled only having three in the past years he attended Hogwarts. And that was only because he was with Sirius and James when the mayhem was commencing.

"Besides.. what would you guys do.." He paused, almost afraid to ask. "if you did skip class?" Sounding almost parently, he inquired his statement rather curiously.

James was going to give Remus an innocent look, but then he remembered that he was speaking to his best friend and it would not work. Instead he put on a face of pure disappointment, hoping that Moony's soft heart would eventually give in. "Aw, come on, Moony," he said, "We won't get caught. Really now, when was the last time we got caught? Ages ago." He waved his hands about to get the point across. And, to James, he was telling the truth. They hadn't been caught skipping class in a few weeks.
"As for what we'll do," Prongs added, sipping his drink thoughtfully, "I was thinking of a nice brainstorm session for new pranks."

Lily looked up once again as Sirius addressed her.
"What? Oh I was just....patrolling the halls, making sure first years didn't get lost." she said mumbling the last part, and breaking eye contact.
The last thing she needed was to have Sirius freaking out about Snape, if it was possible, he hated Severus more than James did.

When the boys started talking about skipping she frowned and looked over at them once again.
"It's the first day back, surely you can last one class into the semester without finding it that difficult that you need to skip." she said smartly, agreeing completely with Remus.

Before replying, Remus listened to Lily's response on the subject. Ahh.. she agreed with him. At least someone did. He looked at her thankfully.

"It doesn't matter if we get caught or not James. The point is.. they'll know we're not in class." He was arguing back reasonably, trying to make it seem as though he was at least attempting to get them to not skip.

"Is is that necessary to skip today?" He then asked thoughtfully, looking back and forth between James and Sirius.

Spending a moment to eye her rather suspiciously, Sirius decided it was nothing to worry about. Hopefully. He focused instead on the girl's well-expected dismissal of his wonderful suggestion to skip class.

A little tired of arguing with the two voices of reason in their group [where was Peter, anyway? He was good at nodding and agreeing with him and James], Sirius pushed his half-full plate away.

James grinned happily at Padfoot and nodded as he spoke. "Yes, you see, Lily. Padfoot here speaks the truth," he said earnestly. Prongs turned to Moony waved his hand to indicate Sirius as if to say, 'What he said.' Then, just because he hadn't done it in a while, James ran his fingers through his hair, making it stick up even more than it usually did in the back.

Remus grunted unapprovingly at the two's antic's. He wasn't sure that skipping class would be the appropriate thing to do even if they hadn't done it in awhile. He slowly picked up his pumpkin juice and finished it off thoughtfully. On one hand, skipping was totally against his means of everything he was even at school for in the first place.

Yet on the other, not going with the two could cause him serious disruption in class because he would end up sitting at his desk manicly worrying about what the two were actually doing.

Finally, after a minute of arguing with himself silently, he relaxed back, wiping his hands off on his napkin and looking at the others. "If it's only one class..." He paused, a certain dreadful sensation curling in his stomach, "then I suppose it couldn't hurt."

James grinned widely at Remus. There was an almost childish look of glee shining behind his eyes. "Yes," I knew you'd come along. I just knew it," he said, clapping his best friend on the shoulder warmly. "it'll be worth it," he added reassuringly, just in case Moony had any doubts.

Lily frowned at James unhappily, and Remus agreeing to go along did not help her mood.
"Fine! Skip, get caught, and fail!! I couldn't care less!" she said putting her juice down a little too hard so that pumpkin juice slopped everywhere. She stood up, still glaring at them, and with a careless flick of her wand, cleaned up the spilled juice.
She turned on her heal and walked swiftly out of the Great Hall, and towards her first class.

Peter was scurrying into to Great Hall so quickly that he almost ran into Lily.
"Watch it" he muttered, not looking up at her, but rather barging on into the Great Hall to sit with the Marauders.
He barely had any time to eat before class started...

Lily shook her head frusteratedly, so sick of trying to convince them to go to class, and keep a watchful eye on them. She washed her hands of them and their stupid antics. Lets face it, James isn't mature enough for you to date anyways, he'd drive you nuts she though to herself.

Suddenly a short, stocky person almost ran into her and she quickly sidestepped as Peter barelled past her. She faintly heard him mutter for her to watch out, and her temper quickly rose again.
As quickly as it came it disappeared, she shook her head, deciding it was stupid to start another argument. She turned and continued on to class, simply put out and frusterated.

James's dark eyes widened at Lily's outburst. He was utterly taken aback by her statement. Why was she so angry? His jaw literally dropped a few inches as Lily stormed out. "What the bloody heck was that all about?" he asked incredulously. Prongs knew Evans would be disappointed, but that was a bit much.
After staring at the now closed door, James stood and muttered, "I'll see you later," and set off in hot pursuit of a certain redheaded beauty.

Lily turned right and headed down the long corridor that eventually lead to the Dungeons. She walked quickly and only slowed when she was in the dark, cool calmness of the hallway. She stopped and leaned back against the cold stone wall, closing her eyes. She wasn't particularily sure why she had gotten so frusterated with the boys, but she found it ridiculously stupid that they couldn't even manage to go to classes on the first day.

That's not what's really bugging you. she thought to herself.

But before he could propose some locations, a small commotion occured at their table, James following Lily [again], abandoning post. Sirius frowned at his cup, focusing instead on Peter's unexpected appearance.

"And where were you, eh? What's wrong with everyone today?" he complained to the enchanted ceiling.

James walked down several corridors, turning corners at random. He could not, for the life of him remember what class was next and where Lily would have gone. He raced down a flight of stairs on his left and turned down yet another hallway. At last.
"Lily," James said, relieved to have finally found her. "Why'd you leave like that?"
