Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

Lily returned to the common room just in time to hear James' comments about Severus. She frowned at him but didn't comment, she was too tired to start an argument or even deal with the ganging up that would come for her to defend him. She simply turned and headed over to a chair by the fireplace. She was exhausted and could barely keep her eyes open.

Molly headed down to the common room, hearing voices and was delighted to see many of her friends down there. She spotted Lily and headed over to talk with her.

Peter got up and headed over to the Marauders, seeing that they had returned to the common room after dealing with Ally.

Remus reached the Common Room in a bit of a tired state, even knowing that he was not permitted to go to bed yet. He would have to walk the corridors soon, making sure that none was out of bed. Being Prefect wasn't all that exciting. Of course, the thrill of it at first.. but now.. after letting the others get away with whatever they wanted he felt he was just abusing the privilage.

His eyes scanned the room and landed on Lily. His partner Prefect was almost asleep on the chair, slouching down quite abit. With a concerning appeal, he walked over and reached down, lightly shaking her arm. "Lily." He whispered softly as to wake her. "Lily! Let's go now to patrol the corridors, so that you can get yourself to bed." With a nod, he waited for her.

Lily sat up quickly, somewhat startled by Remus' sudden appearance. She looked down at her watch and nodded, slowly standing.
"Yes, lets get it over with."
She surpressed a yawn and followed Remus towards the portrait hole.

Although she was tired and not in the best of moods she was glad to have Remus' company, especially as they walked the dark hallways. He was always kind and was able to hold a decent, stimulating conversation that didn't involved bullying Snape behind his back.

Half an hour later they turned the last corner on their route for patrolling that evening.
"I'm glad that's over." she said, smiling weakly at him. "Thanks for patrolling with me." she said, "I always prefer to patrole with someone that by myself."

Remus had followed Lily by her side, on the lookout, quiet but attentative to her conversation. As they reached the last hall, he gave in to a yawn, and climbed in after Lily back into the Common Room.

"No problem." He replied simply going to sit down by the dwindling fire before heading off to bed. He wanted to keep eye on the others too.

Catching Padfoot's eye, James sighed when he heard him say those words. "Me too, Padfoot." He sighed. "First day back has never been this boring." He added as he threw himself on a couch and spotted Lily. The sight of the girl automatically sent his hand to his head which caused in the constant ruffling of his already messy black hair.

"How are prefect duties coming along, Evans?" He asked her as he drew his wand and started flying things around the common room because he knew it would annoy her.

Severus sat in his common room, pretending to listen to Regulus rant about Muggles...or that was, at least, the last word he had heard before tuning him out. His mind was elsewhere, thinking of a new spell he had invented to try out on someone. Probably on Regulus if he didn't shut up soon.

Sloane grinned at Sirius and couldn’t help but agree with what he said. Hogwarts wouldn’t be the same without Snape and it was almost odd imagining one without the other. Lying down on the floor next to the fire she looked up at the ceiling.

“Have any of you ever been in the Forbidden Forest at night?” She asked the group as she traced the cracks of the ceiling with her wand.

Lily entered the common room feeling quite exhausted and was not made to feel much better by the sight of a rowdy crowd still awake in the common room.
"It was fine James, thank you." she said stiffly, trying not to watch him as he started to fly objects around the room with his wand.
She sat down in a chair near the fire and rested her head on her hand, brushing her long red hair back out of her face as it fell down around her face.

OOC: congrats guys on getting plot of the week, heres why we were put in the main forum and what KA: PotW means hehe kind of exciting! just thought id put it here because i deffinately didnt know what it meant, and didnt realise it was a good thing, so congrats guys on your characters and all your excellent roleplaying! keep it up!

The Knockturn Alley staff has come up with a new witty way to award our RolePlayers through both Roleplaying and Plot creativity.

Starting July, Knockturn Alley mods will promote a creative & advanced plot submitted each week into Borgin & Burkes. The roleplay that gets this award will get a banner inserted in their first post along with "KA: PotW" edited into their thread title and the thread will be stickied for the entire week in the main Borgin and Burkes Forum. Those RP's that get selected into this category will gain publicity, thus will follow our general inactive policy.

In addition to Plot of the week, We will be selecting a "Role Play for the week". This Roleplay will be stickied for the week, will get a RP of the Week graphic in their first post and a 'KA: RPotW' will be put in the beginning of the thread title for the rest of its existence. Any roleplay which gets made the roleplay of the week will never be put in inactives, if it reaches it inactive policy we move it to the finished roleplays to sort of show our appreciation of it. Lowering her wand at the sound of Sirius’ voice, Sloane slowly turned her head to look at him. The expression on his face was priceless and it conveyed to her all the mischievous thoughts that were running through his mind.

Pushing up off the floor she leaned up against the coffee table, “It was just a question Sirius.” She looked from James to Sirius and knew that if given the opportunity they would be more than willing to go gallivanting in the Forbidden Forest.

“I know this seems a bit juvenile but I’ve always wanted to play hide and go seek in the forest at night.” She let out a small laugh before looking towards the window. “We would definitely get in trouble if caught, but then at least we’d be having fun for a short while.”

Glancing over at Lily, Sloane knew her friend would never allow it, which was expected. Lil’s was always one to follow the rules, and Sloane was grateful; her friends attitude helped keep her in line.

Resting her chin on the arm rest of Lily’s chair Sloane gave her a smile, “What do you say Lil’s? Are you up for a romp in the Forbidden Forest?” she gave her friend a wink as she playfully tugged on her sleeve.

Lily quickly bit her tongue and held down her quick angry response. She looked around the common room and saw that everyone else looked wide awake and excited. Was she the only one who was exhasted?

"I dont know, I'm a prefect, it doesn't look good if I get caught out of bed." she said slowly.

Remus sat quietly in the armchair, his eyes wondering from one person to the next. He knew where their conversation was going. "Alright.." He said suddenly, going to stand. He coughed to get their attention and well, he need to cough, then started towards the steps to their shared dorm. "..I'm off to bed. G'nite." He muttered these words just audible enough for them to hear.

Lily watched Remus go and was tempted to also get up and leave for bed.
"I think I'll just head to bed." Lily said, feeling exhausted.
"Thanks for the invitation though." she said, also standing.

Molly nodded in agreement.
"Ya I'm heading off to bed as well, I will see you all in the morning!" she said cheerfully, before turning and heading up the stairs.

Peter sat there silently, knowing that he wouldn't be asked to come along, it would just be expected that he would. He scoweled at Lily and Molly for deciding to head up stairs to bed, good two shoes.

James stopped flying stuff around as Moony went off to bed. "Oi!" He said and was about to continue before Lily walked off too. And then Molly followed. His eyes moved from Peter to Sloane then to Sirius. He was certainly in no mood of going to bed. Instead, he had a sudden urge to go for a stroll in the Forest, but he obviously wasn't going to say anything in front of Sloane, now will he? Because if he did, she might insist on coming. Not that he didn't like her or anything, but he wanted to go being...a stag. That would be one thing he couldn't do when she was around.

He glanced at the other two again and sighed. What was he to do?

Sloane’s smile faded at Lily’s reply to her invitation. She got the sneaking suspicion that Lily didn’t appreciate her adventurous side at all. Sloane new that Lily’s method of following the straight and narrow path was the right way to go; but she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

“Yes I suppose it wouldn’t look good if you were caught out of bed.” She repeated in a monotone voice which clearly expressed disappointment. Perhaps heading to bed would be best, she was after all quite tired after the long trip and she’d probably have to get up early the following morning. The last thing she wanted was to fall asleep during class. That wouldn’t do her well, and the howler her mother would most likely send would be embarrassing.

Regretfully pulling herself up off the floor she followed the others in tow. “I guess I’ll see you boys later. Maybe we can go to the forest some other time?” Giving them all a crestfallen smile she ascended the staircase to the girls dormitory.

Sirius looked disdainful as he watched the others leave. Where was their sense of adventure, the Carpe Diem-ness of their soul? He muttered a couple of words no one could decipher as only James, Sloane and him remained in the Common Room. Indeed, what a great way to start the school year...

"Night, love," he wished Sloane as she left too, leaving him and James now completely alone. Resting his head on the back of his armchair, he sighed audibly, then got up. "Talk about anti-climactic..." he said, shaking his head, as he took one step towards the dormitories. "Shall we, mate?" Sirius inquired, reasoning that there was no use in lingering on their own in the deserted Common Room. Sleep had almost caught up with him. Almost, but not quite.

Lily continued up the stairs, not able to shake the feeling that she had ruined everyones fun, afer all, it was only after she made the comment of her being a prefect that they decided to go to bed. She sighed and shook her head, it was her job and a responsibilty no matter how unfun or boring it was, and she had taken an oath that she would follow and enforce the rules. She ran a hand back through her hair before throwing it up on her head in a messy bun. As she pulled her pyjama top on she heard the dorm room door open again, and peeked through the top that was still over her head and the strands or red hair that fell in front of her face.
"I thought you were going out with the boys?" she said, somewhat muffled as she figited with the pyjama top stuck around her head.
Finally she succeeded in yanking the shirt down, leaving her with a a mop of red, messy hair and a giddy smile on her face despite her present mood.
She plopped down on her bed and yawned, hoping Sloan hadn't minded walking in to see a disheveled Lily with a tank top and pj bottoms on successfully, but the pj top stuck around her head. Sloan was a good friend, she wouldn't do anything more than tease her about her wardrobe malfunction.

"Sorry I ruined the fun." she said slightly awkwardly, "I hope you understand that I jsut can't do all the same stuff as you guys, being a prefect and all....she said, not really finishing the last part, she wasn't about to admit that she would love to go running off on the dark ground with James Potter....

Molly yawned and pulled her night gown on just in time to see Lily struggling with her top. She looked up when the door opened and was surprised to see Sloan joinging them.
"Hey Sloan, you haven't seen Louisa have you? She's not in here yet and its past curfew." she said, looking over at the two empty beds. Ally was of course in the hospital wing, but she wasn't sure as to where Louisa was, maybe staying with Ally to keep her company...

James nodded and stood up. He still wanted to go on a stroll outside, but he doubted it would be fun without the other two. And even if they did agree to go, Moony wouldn't be there with them, for he is a wharewolf, not an animagus. Besides, Sirius looked like he was going to dooze off soon.

"Let's go." His voice suggested he wasn't too keen on going to bed, but he followed Sirius and walked towards the dormitories.

Lily awoke the following morning as the bright sunlight streamed in through her window. She groaned and rolled over not wanting to leave her cozy, warm bed. After several moments of lying there, she slowly sat up, strands of long red hair falling down across her face, having escaped from the elastic that once held them up. She yawned and climbed out of bed, grabbing some toiletrees and school uniform before heading down to the girls washroom to shower, change and get ready.

Twenty minutes later she returned to the dorm, her long, flower scented, red hair hanging down her back in waves. She quickly put away her soaps, shampoo and pyjamas before throwing the comforter back over her bed so that it looked somewhat clean. She sat down and opened one of her text books while she waited for the other girls to awaken.

Severus woke with a start. Mainly because his fellow Slytherins were making a racket as always. He knew attempting to go back to sleep would make him an easy target for...well, everything. He stood up, pulled on his robes and made his way to the common room, bag in hand.

Lily got up and decided she didn't feel like waiting for anyone to wake up. She headed out of the Gryffindor common room and down towards the Great Hall, but rather than stopping there she continued down towards the dungeons and the Slytherin common room. She was hoping that Severus would be up, she hadn't had the chance to really see him on the train due to her prefect duties, and all her travelling this summer had kept her from seeing her best friend. She was itching to see him again. She stopped at the corner but did not continue towards the Slytherin comon room, this was close enough. She was in their territory now and didn't need to make herself visable to all those Slytherins. Instead she whispered a few odd words under her breath, feeling her wand glow warm in her hand. She hoped Severus would recieve her message to come out and meet her. He was not usually still asleep at this time.

She leaned back against the cool stone wall, feeling the chill of the dungeons settle over her. She waited there for severl minutes, waiting to see if Severus would come out...

Molly awoke just in time to see Lily leaved the dorm room, fully clothed. She sat up and yawned, looking over at her clock and deciding to get ready for school.

Peter awoke with a start, surprised to find himself all tangled up in his sheets. He gave a squeek and quickly tried to wriggle out of the tight, constricting sheets. But as he struggled, he simply tangled himself up more. He wriggled a bit too far and fell off the bed with a loud thud. He sighed as he hit the floor, angry at himself for being so clumsy, he closed his eyes waiting for the sneering remarks that would soon come from Sirius and James for awakening them in such an unreasonable fashion.

Sirius heard a loud thumping sound and awoke. He shifted his head sideways to see what or who had fallen off the bed, and in noticing Wormtail, he grunted and lay his head back on the pillow. "Good one, Wormtail. Keep it up and you might be lucky enough to strangle yourself in your sleep," he muttered, his voice throaty.

He stood motionless for a couple more minutes before finally allowing his eyes to snap open for good. His head ached. He had dreamt senseless dreams all night, the image of Madam Pomfrey wacking him on the side of the head with a cherry bottle quite realistic, even now. With a grunt, he got up and trudged to the bathroom, shutting the door behind him in such a loud fashion that he might have woken the entire school by the sound. Sirius was not a morning person.

Remus lay awake in his four-post bed, listening as his friends began to stir. James would be last one up. As usual. He smiled to himself, though continued to lay there. His eyes were sleepy, but he was awake.

Finally, struggling with himself not to go back to sleep, he sat up slowly, yawning and rubbing his eyes and combing his hand through his hair. Looking down Peter lay grumbling on the floor in his bed next to his own. "Having lovely dreams, Wormtail?" He asked smiling slightly, climbing out of bed and going over to outstretch a hand to help Peter up.
