They could approach him and ask questions now if they wanted.
Dia looked to her new boss with more than a tinge of curiosity in her expression. She had figured he would have addressed them soon enough and well, he had. Sadly she had no idea what any of what he said would mean for her. She had never actually worked here before so what would he check for her to determine how much she would be paid. That part had her a bit puzzled. Maybe she could ask him..but then wouldn't she seem a just a little greedy. After all she was still fairly new. How would it look if she was already trying to discuss her pay? Maybe it wouldn't have even mattered. As long as she did a job well done she could still get those extra Galleons right...?
"So Mr. Recard," She could just smuggle in some small talk for now. All things would eventually get explained sooner or later. "After seeing such a large welcome back party I admit I'm a bit curious as to why you might have left in the first place." She said with half a smile; the key was to remain pleasant--not overbearing. With people as warm as these she couldn't see why he would have chosen to leave for however long he did.

Biggest understatement of the year in Recard head.
Seriously Rose, she she knew better. Her boss was one of the hardest working and dedicated men in the Ministry for Merlin's sake. "Well I am glad you are still doing well, I'm glad things hadn't completely crashed and burned while I was away." They weren't in the best of shape but they were still ok.
He had plans to fix things anyways so there was no worry about that. "I will catch up with you more later Rose, I need to go address everyone."
"Games and Sports? Well it's good to have you hear, it's too bad for Vindictus, I've looked at your files and it seems he lost a good worker. But we are happy to have you with us now." He smiled at the woman. There was always room for hard workers in Transportation.
"Getting married? I'd say that was a bit of a step above just doing well. Congratulations Leo." Recard clapped the man on the back, a grin spreading on his face. Love was just wonderful wasn't it?
Siiigh.
"Alright, Leo, I need to go address the group if you don't mind. I shall talk to you again soon." And with that, the Department Head walked off to the front of the break room.

Kenzie started to shove her way through the throngs of people and ended up right in front of her brand new boss. "Excuse me! Excuse me, sir?"
Holding out her hand, she introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Mackenzie Gilbert. I'm new here, just transferred to London from a previous engagement. Is there anything I should know about the job or just the place in general?" she asked, eager to get started on whatever she had to do. She didn't know many people here, so what better way to meet people than to start a brand new job.
"Haha, Good man!" Armen grinned smugly at the joke Jayden made about the boss man, himself, and them finding something better than work to deal with, his welcome back party--the most important event in the Ministry at the moment no doubt.
The department head's grinned broke even wider when the man threw the welcome back banner around his shoulders and he clapped the Muggle Item Researcher on the back. "Thanks Jayden, it's great to be back. How have you been in my absence?"
Ahhh, yes Recard liked this one.
Your Highness? The others should take a leaf out of her book.
"Eliza! Thanks for the cake and the warm welcome. You should cut me and yourself a piece and we can talk." He was glad to promote her to Apparation Examiner, she was a hard-worker and excellent suck-up who deserved to be rewarded.
An unfamiliar woman crossed the room and spoke to the department head wrapped up in his welcome back banner. A new face was always welcome in Magical Transportation.
"You have, well I hope they were all good things." The man smiled his sly smile and realized she was a new employee of his. "Welcome to level six, and who might you be?" He asked looking at her curiously, trying to place her face to a name in his new hires folder.
Before Armen could get to far from where he was stopped at the door a man quickly came up before him and bowed. Yes, he really liked people bowing to him, others should do that, Armen bet he would like the company of Eliza.
"Nice to meet you Rylan, and it's good to see Miss Grey seemed to keep things under control in my...absence." Now that she was gone, he was able to take his rightful control of the place. "We will begin work soon enough but today, relax and enjoy yourself. We have a few new hires that are definately going to need some welcoming and plenty of food to eat."
"Nice to meet you Rylan." he flashed another winning smile towards the man.
During all the excitement of being welcomed back by loving and adoring employees, who were excited to see their favorite boss back, Armen had grinned and thanked Anna, his head of the Floo Network but stopped short when she mentioned his time with the Minister.
"Ahh, yes. Minister Greingoth kept me busy during my leave but let's just say I am much happier to be at home here on level six." That was as much sweet words he could throw upon that dragon dung of a position he held after the Cult takedown.
"Katrina dear, it's good to see you!" Armen greated the woman with a genuine smile and polite peck on the cheek. She was definately one of his favorites and closest since they had worked together on the retesting of the MLE employees for their Apparation licenses. "We have plenty to discuss soon enough, a new tester has been hired and all but that will be taken care of later. We have a party and some food to eat."
Taking a drink from a floating tray nearby, Armen sipped and then turned back to face Katrina. "So, how have you been in my absence?"
Another familiar face.
"Leo, my good man! How are you?" The Department Head sauntered over to the man and stopped beside him, offering him a drink from the nearby tray.
"Welcome, welcome, my name is Armen Recard, the Department Head of Magical Transportation. You must be new." Recard held his hand out to shake the new woman's, a smile playing on his lips.
Noticing one of his previous employees chatting with a new one he had yet to meet, Armen crossed the room to go and say hello.
"Hello ladies, its nice to see you again Victoria, are you welcoming our new co-worker?" He said turning to the unfamiliar woman. "Nice to meet you, Armen Recard, Department Head of Magical Transportation."
"Rose, thanks for the warm welcome. It certainly is good to be back and not in the stuffy offices of level one. Are things going well for you?" He asked curiously, searching her face for any signs of doubt. She was one of his during the Cult takedown and things had gone so fast he wasn't exactly able to check out each of his employees on who had been faithful to him and the cause but really that all didn't matter now.
He just needed to know she was going to be loyal now. Oh and that she was still a hard worker.
Gerti smiled at her boss and replied "I heard that you were an energetic boss and very exciting to work with. Nice to meet you." Of course she HAD heard other things as well, but she was sure they were just exagerating.
In answer to his other question she replied "My name is Gertrude Ferdinand, but my friends can call me Gerti. I am new of course." She lowered her voice a bit and continued "And I don't really look like this, my grandfather was half goblin. I enchanted myself to look more human, but only for today."
A few feet away from Gerti lies a discarded portkey. Be careful to handle the discarded tupperware container with care or you'll be walking back to Level 6...

'Why don't you just read the back issues of the Daily Prophet!' Was what he wanted to say but that would be rude when first meeting your new employee.
"Well, I decided, along with the Minister, that I needed a break due to...personal reasons, but once my predessor disappeared it was obvious no one else could run the place quite like me." Recard concluded that with a smile and a nod. See, he was the best candidate for the job, the Minister thought so too.
At least this one had brains.

Ah..........! now that was something Anna wanted to hear! Bonus! Bonus! she knew she had to get one anyways. She was always present whenever they wanted her. So she deserved it she thought.
After her boss had finished his pretty speech she thought to talk to him about work and staff so she had to get some more bonuses in future or maybe just so something for the ministry.
With all the promises he was making about to keep the glory and stuff Anna wondered if that was true!?
It was always level 2 that got the preference she thought. But her level was equally important to her.
She walked over to her boss, before he just ran out again. "Hey there Armen, that was a good speech about the glory of the Department." she said mockingly.

Thank Merlin the holidays were over. Great as they were, it was just added stress. And no matter how nice he was to her, the tension between Leo and his sister was so thick it could be cut with a knife. She wasn't a very forgiving kid, he was learning pretty quickly. Now, all Leo had to focus on was work, and his fast approaching wedding. When he would finally be able to know that Maine was in his life to stay. For forever. It was a relaxing feeling. He stopped in the break room for a cup of coffee at lunch time. How could people drink tea when there was this delicious concoction that came in so many different varieties?

Stephen decided it was time for a little coffee break. 5 minutes wouldn't hurt and besides it's not like it's super chaotic work. He has to admit students are coming back from Hogwarts soon and that did not overwhelmed him as much. He liked kids but them flooding the whole Diagon Alley and some of them taking their apparition exams and whatnot was not something you look forward to. Still, he can handle it.
Moving his way to the break room, he spotted a coffee machine. A smile grew on his lips as he approached it. Indeed, it was time for some coffee break. He took one of the mugs and a teaspoon; poured some black coffee and added one teaspoon of sugar. His eyes then spotted the counter top which once again made him smile. Such a perfect office. They have everything in this place. He took a plate and took a muffin and a doughnut or two.
Carefully he took his coffee and plate with delicious pastry to the empty table and sat down. Sip. Perfect, just perfect. So can he allowed to stay here forever?

Gabriela Schultz couldn't believe she was doing this--the exact thing she had despised as an employee on Level Three. Yet here she was, setting out a lovely bagel spread complete with plain, pumpernickel, wheat, raisin, chocolate chip and pumpkin varieties, as well as a number of cream cheeses. She'd also set out many fruit and veggie platters. The first thing she was going to do on this level was get everyone back to a HEALTHY diet.
She waved her wand and a number of streamers and balloons formed at the ceilings, making the area seem a BIT more like a party. A party in her honor? Thrown by her? Of course.
She cleared her throat, smoothed her hair and her skirt, and stood waiting for the employees to arrive after they received her memo. She couldn't wait to meet her new employees!

Leo was the first employee to get to the meet and greet. He'd always hated that. The awkward moment when you try to make conversation with someone you don't know until other people start arriving and the mingling gets started. So this must be the new Dept. Head.
He waslked over to her and held out his hand to shake hers. "Leo Black, Broom Features Developer. And you must be Miss Shultz. I'm pleased to meet you." Maybe. He didn't know yet if he was pleased to meet her, but it was the proper thing to say, and anybody would be a step-up from Armen Recard.

She walked over to greet the new DH and also Leo. It had been a long time since they met. "Hey. Anna Smith. I'm from the Floo network" she said with a smile. "And congratulation for the new post." she didn't know if she should mention that she was the Head Floo Network Inspector, but then decided not to Shultz would already know. If not then she would tell her later.
She turned to Leo and smiled "Hey Leo. How're you doing?" They were the first to arrive. Somehow Anna felt like it was some kind of achievement for her. She had got a bonus for her good performance by her last department head. Maybe she could work things out again with the new DH as well. That thought made her smile.
Coming back to the party she looked at Leo "So, we're the first here, huh" and looked around to see all the decoration made and the fabulous food kept on the table. "It all looks to good" she said and smiled.
She looked back at Shultz and said "The decorations look so fabulous and also the food looks healthy." Talking about food it made her hungry. When were they going to start eating?

She had absolutely no idea. She was tempted to fiddle with her necklace but she didn't. Confidence. She needed to just be confidence and trust that the new department head was just as good as the old one.
She just hoped there would be coffee there. Well, of course there would be, it was the break room... since when was there not coffee there? Never.
"Mister Black, Miss Smith," Katrina greeted her coworkers with a smile.
And then she looked at the blonde woman there. Ah. That had to be the new department head. She quickly tried to remember the name at the bottom the memo. What was it again? Katrina almost reached her hand up to play with her hair nervously as she tried to remember the name. Oh wait. Anna Smith. Got it. Gabi recognized her name from the employee records that she had briefly skimmed before coming here today. "Very pleased to meet you, Miss Smith," she said with a friendly smile. The introduction was a bit more informal than Gabi would have preferred, but it was her first day. She'd let it slide.
She chuckled lightly when she saw the employee looking at the food she'd set out. "Please, feel free to start eating," she told her with a grin. "We're not waiting for anyone special. Please, eat!" she chuckled.

"Pleased to meet you Miss Rayne, I myself was a liason back on Level Three before transferring here," she said politely to make conversation. "Please feel free to help yourself to some food, we're just making idle chit chat as we wait for a few more guests!" she explained with a smile. To help, she went over and took a plain bagel and began to add some reduced fat cream cheese in the hopes that the hungry employees would go now that they had permission.
Hehe. They thought they needed permission. This Department Head business was just so fun!

He made his way over to the refreshments table and spread cream cheese on a bagel. He didn't really want it, but with only four people in the room it might look awkward if he didn't.
Leo was slightly taken aback when Katrina addressed him as "Mister Black" hadn't they met each other his first day on the job? She hadn't been so formal then. But she had set the course for the adressing, so he returned it in the same manner. "It's good to see you, Miss Rayne."
He turned back to Anna, realizing he hadn't answered her question earlier. "I'm doing well. I just got married." He smiled. Married. Leo Black was a married man! "And how are you?"

Party for the new head? Whatever happened to Mr. Recard? Hopefully nothing wrong. Stephen had received the letter and read about the party. He mostly got excited when the letter said about a party. It's about time they have some lively activities. Stephen could sure use some of these activities now.
He walked inside casually and greeted his fellow co-workers with a smile. Of course, he's one of the newbies from around here but he'll try to catch up with it. Everyone looked friendly anyways. As for the new head of the department, Stephen's eyes wandered and notice a gorgeous lady introducing herself and people seem to be warm all around her. Could that be her? Blonde, tall, cute smile? It must be definitely her. Stephen walked up to her for a greeting.
"Pleasure to meet you" he smiled as he approached the lady. "Uhmmm... Miss Schultz" it was the first time he has seen of her. "Congratulations on the new position" he said gesturing his hand.

"Very pleased to meet you, Miss Smith," she said with a friendly smile. The introduction was a bit more informal than Gabi would have preferred, but it was her first day. She'd let it slide.
She chuckled lightly when she saw the employee looking at the food she'd set out. "Please, feel free to start eating," she told her with a grin. "We're not waiting for anyone special. Please, eat!" she chuckled.
Anna smiled as the Department Head replied back. She seemed nice, not bossy as she thought she would be. That was something good to know. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Miss Shultz." she said smiling her sweet smile and brought her hand forward for a handshake. It always helped if the head was an understanding person rather than a rude and judgmental one. Anna already knew it would be great working with her.
Then Anna saw her chuckling. Why? Maybe she heard her stomach screaming that she was hungry. "Oh. Thank You Miss Shultz." she replied and was just about to run but controlled herself and walked as slowly as she could.

She heard talk to her back and turned to him. She was surprised to hear he was married. "Oh, Wow! that's a great news Leo." it indeed was a great news. Why were people around her getting married? now she was worried if she would find her Mr. Right someday. But she was in a party to enjoy so for now she would only concentrate on that. Not weddings! She heard him ask about her. How was she? not married but other than that. Great! "I'm good. Thank you."

She saw someone enter the room and walk straight towards them. It was a Rayne if Anna remembered it correctly. "Miss....Rayne. Nice to meet you." she said smiling and hoping that, that was her name. But sadly she didn't know her first. They weren't talking so much so for now last name could do? She then heard her talking to Miss Shultz and introducing herself Katrina, Okay. Anna would remember that now.

The turnover of leader ship in this department was crazy. Or maybe Jayden has just been here too long? As someone who didn't settle down before starting this job... 10 years was quite a long time. So maybe that was it?
He walked in and picked up a bagel. Mmm. Bagel. He decided that he liked this new department head already.
He stood off the side and worked on eating his bagel. He'd greet his new boss after eating. It seemed the new boss lady was a bit busy at the moment. Which, was fine by him. He was a bit hungry.

Eliza strutted down to the Break Room, making sure her wristwatch was locked properly as she went. Their Department was having a party, or simply for her was a gathering to welcome their new Head. Whatever happened to the former one, Armen Recard, she didn't know.

Looking around for the new it woman, she passed by Katrina, her Senior on the Apparition team. "Miss Rayne! Hello." She moved closer and kissed the woman on the cheek then she beamed at her. Well...that was Eliza to her colleagues.

She was about to ask Miss Rayne about the current status of their department and why they were having a new Department Head - she could still remember when Inez Grey filled in Recard's post when trouble brewed at the Ministry - when a blonde woman spoke up.

Giving her senior a polite nod, she approached their new Department Head. "Hello, Miss!" Eliza started with a cheery greeting. "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Eliza Tohsaka." No cheek kisses yet, no? "I am one of the Apparition Examiners." Hand shaking then? The 25-year old smiled.
The small creature had come a long way. It was no longer wet after its swim in the Atrium's fountain, but rather it's wrinkles and skin folds were moisture free.
With its tiny paws moving swiftly along the floor, the creature sniffed and inspected the space.
There was food.
It could smell food. And it was so very hungry.
Scurrying a little quicker, it hopped and clung and climbed its way up to the bench top where there was a glorious feast waiting for it. With a small squeeeeee of delight, the creature dug its tiny teeth into a muffin.

Cale was pretty sure he'd left a portkey in here. PRETTY sure. He had to find out if the rest of the portkeys in the office were working or if those were broken too...
Suddenly, as he entered the room, he heard something. There was a sort of squeaking sound...it sounded familiar. Where had he heard that before?
Looking around for the source of the sound, he looked around and his eyes fell on the muffins left over from...who knows when. He looked over them but he did a double take when he realized something was off about those muffins...
OH MY GOSH THE MUTANT! IT WAS BACK!
Letting out a squeal, Cale backed up and stumbled over a chair, crashing into one of the cabinets. "Mutant!! MUTANT!" he exclaimed. Someone hear him and come ASSIST HIM!!!

He withdrew his wand and just watched it. ... he strangely enough didn't want to hurt it. No matter how weird it looked.

What was Jayden DOING? Just watching the rat thing run around? His boss was in danger and he was just sitting there!
"What are you doing?" he exclaimed, jumping on the nearby table and pulling out his wand as well. "We have to catch it or do something - that's the second time I've encountered once of these monstrosities!" he told his employee. First the cafe, now it was HERE?
He was certain now it was something that SOMEONE in the Ministry had been working on. But who? Who would want to create a mutant rat THING and set it loose on society??

Maya was just outside the break room, about to go and get a cup of tea, when she heard a squeal and a loud crash. She jumped slightly at the sudden noise and hurried in curiously. Oh goodness. It was a hideous little mutant. And her boss was the one who'd squealed. And there was another man, standing there with his wand and not doing anything. This was something that didn't happen everyday, anyway.
Terrified of the THING, she was quick to pull out her wand. She couldn't kill it, so what else? Did the jelly-legs jinx work on mutants? She cast a glance at the Department Head, who looked just as bad as she felt. Something had to be done. And she didn't want to lose her job for being a wimp. "Uhh...Wingardium Leviosa!"
Now it should be floating in the air. Probably hadn't helped too much.
Why is it storming in the break room? Has Enviro. finally gotten tired of being thought of as 'that plant department? Or is there something much more sinister going on......?
