canadien accent!

Baby Norbert 11-20-2005 07:41 PM

Well... I come from Denmark but while speaking english I have a british accent... I was once asked by a complete stranger (from England) who had overheard me speaking english to an echange student if I came from England and one of my friends say that when I answer questions in english lessons I sound like I came straight from one of the 'Harry Ootter' films!

GanymedeCraft17 11-20-2005 07:42 PM

I am catagorized as Pittsburghese... they have a website for my accent. It is also called "Yinzbonics" I am quite proud of my accent. It's so awesome.

allucha 11-20-2005 07:43 PM

i have a West Yorkshire accent (English)

iluvbadboys56 11-20-2005 07:44 PM

uh.......American

Ginpotter 11-20-2005 07:45 PM

I have an Egyptian accent. My bro could talk British and American accents. We easily could learn these accents as we in Arabic can make all the sounds of the letters.

Stormdancer 11-20-2005 07:57 PM

Well I'm pure Scottish here. Although I sometimes sound American. Just depends on the day ><

Lennox_chaser 11-20-2005 08:02 PM

Nope I have no accent but I can easily slip to a Irish accent. Probably because I am part Irish.

Mrs.Molly 11-20-2005 08:23 PM

Weeell....
I'd say I have an American-British accent. 'Cause in school we learn the britishenglish,so I speak and listen to more British english, but come from America. If I want I can do a German accent, since I live there, which sounds aweful if it's too much :) The germans often can't pronounce the "th" so they make an "s" and much more...

Raider 11-20-2005 08:32 PM

Uhhhh Ide have to say a Rhode Islanders accent. Basicly a New England accent with the word wicked, or as we pronounce it, Wikid used alot more. lol.

Sakuradrops 11-20-2005 08:53 PM

I think I have a general american english accent. With maybe a touch of the Jersey accent.

Si 11-20-2005 08:57 PM

Um....a southern one. Not as thick as most accents though.

thenextmissrowling 11-20-2005 09:02 PM

Michigan. The way they talk on most American movies/t.v. for the most part. Nothing really stereotypically specific to the region except that it's not southern.

PhelpsTwinsFan 11-20-2005 09:09 PM

American :(

Pookah 11-20-2005 11:24 PM

Midlands...not a Birmingham accent, though!

cocogodessmegrly1 11-20-2005 11:32 PM

English for me...(oxforshire, england)!

i m a g i n e 11-20-2005 11:40 PM

Well I have my normal everyday american accent since I come from america but I can also pull off doing a quite well British accent (which I use alot for plays) and a good French one (I do when I'm speaking french,of course)

prettyinpink 11-20-2005 11:41 PM

I have a Texan accent! HoWdY!:cowboy:

hpfreakout 11-20-2005 11:47 PM

I'm from New Jersey so that would be what type of accent I have. It's really just a normal American Accent, I guess.

Beav42 11-21-2005 12:00 AM

Well I'm from Australia, so I have an aussie accent. I love it when people try and speak in our accent, because usually they can't so its really funny. I can also do a British accent :D

kaZombie 11-21-2005 12:05 AM

I've been told i have to accent. i don't really know. i'm sure if go to a idfferent contry they would ask me what accent i am speaking in. but i can also speak in a english accent.

Evster 11-21-2005 12:19 AM

I have a Bostonian accent. Basically I'm from New England, but here we can't pronounce the 'ing' endings. So we usually say, "runnin'" or "chasin'". I also have part of a Brazilian accent. Yes, weird, but I love my accent. ^.^;

X-Girl 11-21-2005 02:13 AM

I'm from the States so....yah...
Not much of a accent on my part but I guess to others it's really different!
~~RQT

Fortune_Cookie 11-21-2005 05:48 AM

Canadian accent all the way!!!

Hebecraft18 11-21-2005 06:05 AM

I been told I sound Scottish or British. The thing is I am from Pennsylvania so I am not sure where these people are getting this. Perhaps Tiro is rubbing off on me? I do drink a lot more tea now...LOL

X-Girl 11-21-2005 06:08 AM

^
Some people say I sound Scottish which is bizzare as well....
~~RQT

Simple Muggle 11-21-2005 06:15 AM

can do an American aceent and sometimes British as well.

death_faerie 11-21-2005 06:20 AM

An Australian one, though, no where near as strong as Steve Erwin's...mainly because he is the only Aussie that actually sounds like that...lol

Ginevra 11-21-2005 06:23 AM

Thank you all for replying. I can speak in a British accent.

Taking Back Kirstie 11-21-2005 06:27 AM

I have a New Zealand accent, which is commonly confused with an Australian accent. I can tell the difference, but some people can't.

I can also imitate an English accent if i wish to.

I CAN!! lol :D

I'm supposed to have an Aussie accent. But I don't think I do o_0 most of the time I mumble a lot, so it's not like you can actually hear what I'm saying...but yes... Australian XD

Cristygen 11-21-2005 02:31 PM

I have no idea what my accent sounds like. In Spanish, I have a Puertorican accent, which means that I exhale the S's but that's in spanish. In English, I don't think I have a spanish accent, so I think I have an american accent, with some spanish behind it. I might have to ask what type of accent I have.

lomadia 11-21-2005 02:48 PM

I have an english accent but its quite weird because my mum comes from Preston (North England) and my dad comes from Bristol (South England). I have more of a bristolian accent but with prestonian attributes! lol, if that made any sense well done!

Nabs 11-21-2005 06:52 PM

i dont have much of an accent, but i tend to slip into a british accent because i grew up in that environment..however, after a few years being back in malaysia, it's kind of transformed into something i myself cant place..but the brit is there, baby

PBLOVER 11-21-2005 06:59 PM

my friends keep telling me that i have a slight accent but i'm like no i don't because i never hear it and it's weird when i record myself on my cell and listen to it.

Kazters 11-21-2005 06:59 PM

Spirit 11-22-2005 05:44 AM

I have a southwest American accent. It's very faint, we barely have any accent at all where I live.

swedishharrypotterfan 11-22-2005 01:52 PM

Well, english is not my first language, but I guess I have an american accent. But I tend to change it depending on who I'm talking to. If I speak to a brittish person I get a very english accent all of a sudden. So I really don't know!

I thought I was the only one that did that!!!! I feel bad some times because I know the person that I am talking to is probably thinking I am making fun of them but I really can’t help it, I just pick up on there accent easily and form it to myself. But normally I have an American accent but it is a mix still because I will say some sentences really southern and I am not, and some will be a little valley, or spanish....but whatever…..

Padie 11-22-2005 07:12 PM

I'm Portuguese but I actually have the English accent when I want to speak like that or it just comes out normally, but sometimes I have the American accent.

Eowyn Weasley 11-22-2005 07:23 PM

I have a faint Bristolian accent (England) but most of the time I just sound like a normal, non-posh, British person but sometimes I slip into a scottish accent as I'm half scottish or an american accent if I've been talking to mates from the states.

Vanilla Sky 11-22-2005 07:30 PM

I've got a London-er type accent, as I was born and raised in Essex, but according to some people I sound too prim and proper to have been born here!

Crackerman of Whiplash 11-22-2005 07:34 PM

An unaffected English accent.

Amy Tonks 11-22-2005 07:34 PM

I have a scottish accent, but I don't actually notice it until I talk to other people or hear it when I'm recorded

I love all accents though- seriously :P Especially Irish they rock.

Kazters 11-22-2005 07:42 PM

lol amy i love irish as well! but beoing scottish myself i love scottish accents as well!

For some reason I have a Brooklyn accent even though I wasn't born there and I haven't lived there since I was little; which was a while ago.

lorlor57 11-23-2005 08:45 PM

i have a really heavy boston accent. i was born and raised in boston so it's pretty obvious i have one, but one of my friends just moved here not to long ago from ohio and makes fun of me so badly because of it, she thinks it's so insainly funny, and when i say stuff like "wicked", "hard", "are", "awsome","heard", "off" or "quarter" cuz you can really hear it when i say those words, but i really don't care, i love boston and my accent! lol

Jessica 11-23-2005 08:54 PM

I've got a British accent but I can also speak in an American, Irish, French and Boston accent.

omg my friend the other day was saying how us people from new england don't say our T's, D's or G's!! but i listened to my self the other day when i was talking and she's kinda right cuz i say "wha" in stead of "what" and i say "id'nno" instead of "i don't know"and like you said we say "goin" or "talkin" with out the G's. it's so weird cuz i never think we talk any different, like even me with my boston accent, lol.

Aragon 11-23-2005 09:00 PM

I my self speak in monatone.

SlytherinPride 11-24-2005 12:42 AM

I've an English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish one. And when I'm speaking Russian, I have a Russian one. And when I'm speaking German, I have a German one.... And the same with French. I'm just way fab.

*Dark Angel* 11-24-2005 09:25 PM

Well I come from Hungary/Hungaria(??) and I lived in Russia for a while and then I moved to Sweden and I live there now so...
I think I have a Brittish accent... all of my friends get nuts when they hear me speak Brittish when we have English lessons.... thats cinda fun :P

Unidentified101 11-24-2005 09:33 PM

I have a Mid Western accent.

DracoMalfoyyy 11-29-2005 06:00 AM

i don't know what kind of accent i have. People tell me that i sound like i'm from New York though.

Chaldochicka00 11-29-2005 11:18 AM

I don't really have an accent. It's just a regular American voice. Then again, to people from Alabama normal is different. I don't know, but I wish I had a Bristish Accent.

iluvron 11-30-2005 01:28 AM

i dont really have an accent... i wish i had a brittish accent but sadly i dont... i cant do a texan accent kinda and i can talk pidgin wich is not really an accent but more like slang ( its wat most ppl talk here in hawaii)

Hermione_wannabe 11-30-2005 01:39 AM

I'm from North Carolina and I have a VERY thick southern (american) accent...quite entertaining when some of my family from Vermont came to visit. I think what classifies the southern accent most is speaking slowly (which I don't do), adding extra syllables to words, saying in' instead of ing at the end of words like going (here it'd be goin'), singing (singin'), and "that funny little twang" as my second cousin's brother's aunt's grand niece (or something like that) calls it.

horseluver 11-30-2005 02:17 AM

ahh i have a normal American accent but seriously i would kill to have a British accent! i think theyre awesome! its so weird when people from other places say americans have an accent because i cannot imagine what it is like! lol i guys people say our language is very "flat" but i dunno...:)

cutestar 11-30-2005 06:34 AM

I have an Indian accent. It's so plain and boring lol. But I can talk with an American and British accent coz I have quiet a few friends and family from there so yeah...

tommys_tasty_treat 11-30-2005 06:40 AM

I dont really have any accent but its a bit ny....halla. lol

Harrysgurl98908 11-30-2005 06:41 AM

I have an American accent...well i guess a North Western American accent but i dont think we're considered as having accents lol.

slythringurl04 12-01-2005 10:38 PM

i have a faint Texan accent, because i'm a Texan and proud of it!

pOtTeR cRaZe14 12-01-2005 10:47 PM

Oklahoman..Or SOuthern. Not TOO Big though. Although WHen I Scream At The TV While Watching Football..I sound l,ike a major Okie!

scary8511 12-01-2005 10:56 PM

I have a british accent ,but im a northener so i sound quite common compared to most of the accents that you hear in the movies from british people.

tonks26 12-02-2005 07:55 AM

I can speak. Period. :D

I have a Filipino accent. Unlike the American slang, or the British accent, Filipinos speak english pronouncing the letters the way it looks and sounds...for example, in most words with the letter "a", it is not pronounced as 'ey' but it sounds more like "aa"...but Filipinos are really good in picking up any accent, especially American. But I hate people who try so hard to pick up an Amercian/British accent, not knowing they sound like a real fake and even ridiculous. :D

the roastbeef 12-02-2005 02:26 PM

umm....american? I'm from da bronx!!!

*fairydust04* 12-02-2005 02:38 PM

I'm british, and to myself I don't sound like I have an accent but apparently I have a Yorkshire accent!

SpOiLeDnSaSsY 12-03-2005 05:10 AM

I've been told that I either have a thick accent, or none at all. So it's basically all up to whoever I am speaking to.
If you ask me, I have a realy proper New York accent. However, if I start talking fast or if I am in a heated discussion my New York accent becomes a lot more pronounced. The stereotypical kind. Eh, whatever.

*Hermy* 12-03-2005 03:52 PM

I have a mix of Spanish & Chinese accent! =)

Sweet Cass21 12-03-2005 04:34 PM

I don't know what kind of accent I have really, Im from upstate New York and we pretty much just have an American accent

~Slytherin_Heir~ 12-04-2005 04:11 AM

I pretty much have your standard American accent although I tend to throw British slang into my speech a lot, which doesn't really mean that much I suppose....

Arista_Wood 12-04-2005 01:34 PM

Well.. I guess I speak with a general American accent when I speak English although I tend to speak with an English accent when I'm really nervous or.. well, pretty much whenever I want to coz I mimic the way people talk easily. I know.. bad habit but it has its priviliges.

I think I speak for all Malaysians when I say that Malaysians do not have a certain accent when they speak English as our national language is Malay. So I seriously do not get people, especially local people, who complain that I or several other people I know speak differently from how they speak. It just... irritates me so much.

Ruxanda 12-04-2005 02:06 PM

Hm...Well, I learned English at school, so I guess I have no accent...Just english, no british, russian or other accents.

slitherinssecret 12-04-2005 11:04 PM

When I lived in the UK I had what was considered a 'normal:whistle:' voice. Now th@ I've moved to 'merica they say I have a Brittish accent:huh:!!! I haven't changed any!!!! :binky:

Ginevra 12-09-2005 11:41 AM

What is normal for someone living in the same country as you, can be strange for those living in other regions.

Pretty in Punk 12-09-2005 08:05 PM

I have the infamous Boston accent... when I say car it comes out "cah"
park = pahk, start = staht, etc. Normal around here, though ;D

avril_fan 12-09-2005 08:57 PM

I hate to admit this, but I have a bit of a southern accent(Arkansas-ish). I hate it, too. Luckily, some days I don't sound as southern as other days.

H.Goddess 12-10-2005 01:35 PM

I've got a german accent

Kasia 12-10-2005 01:38 PM

I learn English at school so I'm not sure... but once my private teacher said that my accent was quite good, but she didn't say what kind of I accent I have ;)

potter~princess 12-10-2005 01:42 PM

i have a (kinda boring) West Yorkshire accent ;) (english)

foreverxlonely48 12-11-2005 03:10 AM

i have a northern virginia accent. it makes a lot of difference if you visit southern virginia. i can speak with a british accent and i sometimes speak that way without meaning too.

Cat 12-11-2005 01:12 PM

I have an Australian accent and it's quite easy for us to do an American or British accent since the Australian accent is a mix of both. Therefore making it hard for others to imitate it as well.

EleanorRigby 12-11-2005 06:59 PM

I have a "lovely" southern missouri accent *we love our prepositions*..sometimes it goes a little southern..really bad..

GreatestSeeker143 12-11-2005 07:04 PM

I've got a British accent. No one else in my family does, even though they're British! *sigh* I never hear the end of it at family gatherings...

flyingcarpet_lupinus 12-17-2005 01:10 PM

Mostly Indian. And please, Abu from the Simpsons does not sound like and Indian!!

iloveharryp123 12-17-2005 06:46 PM

Apparently Ohioans have accents... I've never noticed it, but maybe that's because I live here.... haha So I guess I must have an Ohio accent.... but I've been picking up an accent kind of from one of my friends, I'm not sure what hers is though... but it's kinda cool...

Roma 12-18-2005 05:05 AM

Umm...American? I don't think I have one, but people with accents do think I have one. So...yeah...I do NOT have a hick accent (even though I live in Pennsylvania).

dans_grl431 12-18-2005 04:52 PM

iv got a scottish accent

Parslemouth555 12-18-2005 04:54 PM

English accent, slightly countrified. Think Hagrid, dropping the 't's and stuff. What makes me angry was that when I moved schools I got picked on for it, which is kinda dumb.

Romeo 12-18-2005 05:06 PM

I have a west london/proper english accent

It is such a pity that people pick on accents.
