I have the generic/news reporter type of American accent. Not Southern, not Jersey, not New Yorker...just generic.

fiery_fish 08-27-2008 05:02 AM

It's strange, I have a different accent each day but never a Greek one.>.<
*is Greek, honest*

NastiPixie 08-30-2008 11:24 AM

Australian.

laura-tonks 08-30-2008 04:38 PM

Standard English accent as I'm from North London :D

supercodi95 08-30-2008 04:40 PM

I have an English/German accent and I'm from America! ( has family from those parts )

GanymedeCraft17 08-30-2008 04:55 PM

I just started a speech class and my next class is dedicated to Pittsburghese... That's the accent we have around here. >.>

Daffy.Potter 09-09-2008 01:49 AM

I have a... Northern? Accent. I'm a Michigander in de U.S. :D You should hear my parents' accent. They're from Taiwan, so it's pretty thick, but they're adjusting and their English is loads better than most people.

Patronus Charm 09-12-2008 08:23 PM

Southern as i am from Florida but born in Mississippi...Husband is from Ireland so I have alot of his sayings and manners of speech. It is quite weird...

HollyCullen 09-13-2008 11:09 AM

Live in Florida but family is from south carolina.
I was born in Spain but on a navy base.
So, I have a slight southern accent but I hide it well.
I decend from england and wales from my ancestors [there is a park in england with my last name that is very popular as the people were royal]
and so I can easily bring out a british accent.

MeredithRodneyMckay 09-13-2008 11:20 AM

See now I don't think I have a specific accent.
I'm from Hampshire (England) and the only accents I hear that are different from mine here is the "ooh ahh,Hampsheer" ones that the farmers can have! lol ..Seriously,though,they don't all speak like that. :)
I guess I'd just be classed as a generic English accent.Pretty boring and bog-standard.

Haha would you believe it?! I hail from Hampshire too :D I've lived there since I was about 4. So yeah, I've got a very unimpressive accent too. It's an English accent but it's the most boring version of the English accent you can have!

Anna Banana 09-14-2008 09:27 PM

I have a southern accent. It's pretty much noticeable everywhere I go. :P

Disneymaniac 09-24-2008 05:16 PM

Woot big up my Queen's English Accent. Everything is barth, and carstle (phonetically of course).

Edward Penguin 09-24-2008 05:19 PM

I've a nice southern accent...and sometimes..midwestern I suppose..:D

LadyfeyMalfoy 10-03-2008 07:45 PM

Well I hail from the Pacific Northwest of the USA (Oregon) I don't have an accent BUT..I do pick up on them, southern, eastern and accents from other country's LOL..I remember live chatting with this lady from Australia...she said I did have one...I guess maybe to others from different countrys I do have one

Mrs_Molly_Weasley 10-09-2008 03:55 PM

I am from NY WOOT WOOT! Long Island but I have a Brooklyn accent... and another strange thing is that I dont live with anyone from Brooklyn! I also love imitating accents (love prank phone calls :) They are HIlarious)

Cynxos 10-10-2008 12:23 AM

Well, my accent in english is sometimes not noticeable, and other times you can't miss it.
But people never seem to guess where I'm from.
The most guessed was Hungarian.
Freaky.
Still cool though.

TheGirlWhoLived_818 10-12-2008 02:26 AM

im american but I have different accents. but i mostly speak austrailian(because i grew up watching steve irwin) or southern(cuz thats how i was raised)
-not from south at all-

Pottermaniac 10-12-2008 03:42 AM

It's complicated.

I grew up in a mostly english city, but didn't learn English until I was 8. This resulted in my French sounding English, and my English sounding slightly French.

My English does sound mostly Canadian, but I often make idiotic pronounciation mistakes. I used to say cuh-tee-gur-ees instead of categories.

When I say my French sounds English, I mean that if I go to Quebec or France, they'll think I'm English because of my accent.

Tinkerbaby94 10-13-2008 11:56 PM

i live in southern virginia, which in my opinion isnt far enough south for me to have a southern accent. But apparantly i do have one.

Kieron 10-14-2008 10:27 PM

I'm from Manchester north west England, so i have Manchester accent ... i like to think i don't have a manc accent tho! haha

Daemon 10-14-2008 10:40 PM

Well, after spending 7 years in a British school, I picked up a British accent. It's an equal mix between posh English and cockney.
But now, since everyone that speak English around me have an American/Israeli accent, my own accent is americanifying (is that a word?). I'm completely immune to the Israeli accent for some strange reason. I live in Israel, so...
My accent right now is Posh/American/Cockney... That looks terrible, but I assure you that I'm very understandable... :P

Deadmau5 10-14-2008 10:47 PM

I have a Californian accent mixed with about 0.5% Chinese accent.

But no one notices it. I live in Houston where a lot of kids speak southerly but I just naturally developed a Californian accent ^_^

BanaBatGirl 11-22-2008 06:16 AM

I do....not have an accent.

Seriously, I took like 5 tests that were able to name the exact region where I'm from and they all said, "It's just our way of saying, in other words, you have no accent. You would be great in a career in broadcast or radio because you have the accentlessness for it!"

Well that was paraphrasing but still, no accent here. Ta ta.

;)

Oh, and I'm purrrty awesome at a sloppy British accent. Yarb. And Michigany/Northerny. And Bronx, I love doing New Yorker accents. And the accent Lois from Family Guy has, maaan I do a good Lois impression.

But as for me, I have nada. :shifty:

SancyPancy 12-11-2008 05:18 AM

Well...Im am Australian but i dont really have an AUssie acent..
My ma's from New Zealand...so i guess thats why its different but i have a sought of:
Canadien/tiny bit of Aussie accent......Very wierd???

Toshi Slughorn 12-30-2008 08:55 PM

I like (trying) to use an English accent, I really like the London one ;)

LizzieEvans 12-30-2008 09:01 PM

I'm from Sweden so I guess I have kind of a scandinavian accent when speaking english, but people keeps telling me I have an american accent, and some people have even asked if I am from the US.. hehe ^^

@lbino_$quirrel 01-08-2009 09:00 PM

Southern, ya'll.

LelanaJ 02-09-2009 11:30 PM

Southern.

Bwahahaha.

Lissy Longbottom 02-20-2009 03:29 AM

I hail from Chicago, so, I have a Chicago accent. A pretty thick one, actually. My dad was raised a lot closer to the city than I was, so I think I pick it up from him, cause even people at my school say my accent is more pronounced than theirs. It's fun going to other states and having people know right away where I'm from

And I basically stink at all other accents :xd: I can make myself "accentless" like Roro said above  But I don't like doing it, it feels unnatural :P

#1 harry fan 02-22-2009 12:45 PM

well i think i have a normal west yorkshire (english) accent now but when i first moved to where i live now everyone there said i talked really posh, probz becos im half english and quarter italian and ukrainian so i guess before i moved there i had an english/italian/ukrainian accent but im quite good at imitating accents, especially french and spasnish so im quite good at speaking in those languages when im in school. So i guess ive got a multi-accent :)

Becky 02-22-2009 12:54 PM

I have an English accent :eybrows: But I love Scottish accents like WHOA!

evanna11 02-22-2009 01:11 PM

I'm Dutch, so I suppose I have a Dutch accent.. My pronunciation isn't really good, it's probably my weakest point in any language.

Shanners 02-22-2009 01:20 PM

londoner :)

Bellatricks 03-01-2009 07:14 AM

South African...but I just LOVE the irish accent!!!

hpangel 03-01-2009 08:07 AM

Miamian accent. Which I guess is slightly Hispanic. :)

Indian_gal 03-13-2009 05:12 PM

SheydaMalfoy 03-16-2009 11:41 PM

I've just got a regular American accent, I guess. But when I speak Farsi I have a thick Iranian accent.

Moony 03-18-2009 12:23 PM

I don't really like my Scottish accent [:/]
It doesn't sound as strong in my head but when I record myself it's a bit woah
It's not as strong as say Cho Chang's in the films
More.... Professor McGonagall

noodles 03-19-2009 02:44 PM

Well I'm English, from Newcastle so I have a Geordie accent. Though everyone outside of the North East thinks I'm Scottish ...or Irish. :erm: ...Not that I mind, I like a nice Scottish accent. ^_^

draco*malfoy*lover 03-20-2009 03:07 PM

meh american??
eastern states. =]

StarShine 03-28-2009 08:57 PM

Im Turkish, and I dont know but its more similar to American. So I'll say Turkish-American accent. I adore Australian and British accent though.

Rupert_Grint_FAN!! 04-10-2009 09:02 PM

I Just have an english accent

Nixy! 04-12-2009 02:20 PM

i've got a mancunian accent, though sometimes you can tell that i've lived in cheadle, because i'll be speaking then go posher... and us mancs are very lazy with how we pronouce our words... we don't pronounce our t's or h's and like to swear.... we aren't all that bad with it though, so don't let the lazy lingo put you off coming to good ol' manchester XD really.

Hebecraft18 04-12-2009 02:24 PM

I don't know if I have an accent anymore. I have cleaned up my English.

Yasminalina 04-24-2009 10:04 PM

I had a British accent all my life.. until we moved here. Now I don't have an accent, or at least that's what I think. :D It might be slightly American, but I'm not so sure.

potterfan180 04-25-2009 10:37 PM

I have differents accents, I can have my Korean accent, or my sothern accent (im from north carolina), or i can have an american accent.

Rachel 04-27-2009 03:06 AM

Unfortunately, I have an American accent.
Booooring

i LOVE british accents and I can pull one off rather well, though.

PurpleQuill 04-29-2009 05:02 AM

Midwestern...

So exotic...

BrunhildMalfoy 05-19-2009 05:21 AM

I hate it so much!!!

MrsShikari-Weasley 05-19-2009 09:47 AM

Raver on my WORST behavour!

I've got a fully Irish accent :irish: :clover2:

Shanners 05-19-2009 04:14 PM

well i have a london accent but a hint of birminhgam tooo :)

EquestrianGal88 05-19-2009 04:35 PM

I have an American accent, but because of where I grew up, it tends to shift to a New England/country sort of accent every once in a while. As well as towards a German sort of thing when family gets together...it's odd, and difficult to explain.

RedRabbit 05-30-2009 06:32 AM

I grew up in the states but my granmum raised me so I have a bit of british one. I tried to loose it cause people would make fun of me for it. Then Harry Potter got big and people loved my britishness! :P

best deatheater 06-05-2009 01:09 AM

My voice switches between London and well spoken and occasionally I sound northern...like a sheffield accent. Strange I tell thee.

astralpictures 06-05-2009 07:07 AM

Well, of course to others around me, there is no accent. To others not around me, I suppose it's a mix of NY and Midwestern. I've been a NYer all my life, but outside of NYC, so the city accent isn't nearly as strong as people who grew up there (but it does have a slight influence on us, especially since most of my family is originally from there and we haven't ventured too far).

It's interesting to see the different backgrounds here.

Felix_Wildcat 06-05-2009 07:22 AM

Well, according to my English teacher (who has a Texan accent btw) I don't have any trace of accent in my English voice, very unlike other kids and teachers. Believe me, that mentioned accent could get very annoying. Imagine, you standing up and say the words w/ precision like an American, then got corrected to the wrongly pronounced and butchered Vietnamese accent. Ugh.

When I speak in my home language, I have the Hanoian accent (capital city, also known as official Vietnamese.)

marla_khulet 06-05-2009 07:25 AM

Filipino and A bit of American accent!

SmartyChristy 06-21-2009 06:03 PM

I'm from the states, so I don't have an accent.
However I do come an Asian background, so sometimes
when I'm not thinking, I can produce this really strange asian/american accent, if that makes sense. =)

Davvy_Wavvy 06-21-2009 06:56 PM

Jamaican BUT!! I don't say yeah mon >.< I say yeah man ;)

missxlovette 06-25-2009 03:12 PM

I talk like a Hoosier.
Unfortunately.

averageteenx 07-23-2009 09:48 PM

Quite broad northern accent. You can't beat yorkshire accents. Not the queens english, but still british :D

Belle-laide 07-24-2009 12:29 AM

New York accent, I have. :[

WarrenBLUDx 07-24-2009 04:27 PM

Im from Essex, England. But live in Wolverhampton. Still retain my Essex accent :D i miss Essex alot!

Venomyz 08-03-2009 05:07 AM

I'm not sure what accent i have, but people definitely notice it.
They say that by it they know i'm hispanic.
So i'm guessing, since i don't have a high voice, or neither a deep voice.
It sounds sorta cuban when i mispronounce certain words like 'tree' to 'three'
haha

Rose_Dawson 08-05-2009 09:19 PM

Well, I live in Illinois, in the United States. I don't think I really have an accent. I don't live in Chicago or south, but I might sound different to other people.

magicmarauder 08-06-2009 03:35 PM

I believe I have quite a soft Scottish accent. In Scotland, anyway. People not from Scotland would probably hear it a lot stronger than other Scottish people would.

vijaya 08-08-2009 03:07 PM

hi!!
i would love to have a British accent,
but i have an Amarican accent

Saiai 08-08-2009 03:54 PM

Well according to some people I have an Aussie accent. I don't really hear it though. However that's only when speaking my native English. I can also speak some basic Japanese and I have a Japanese accent when I speak it. With other languages where I can speak the basics or pronounce the words even if I don't necessarily know what I'm saying I have a neutral accent.

suncat 08-22-2009 12:27 PM

Well, I sound a lot like the people here in Western MA, though I come from Long Island NY... I slur my o's more, say 'ant' instead of 'aunt' and occasionally say 'innit' for 'isn't it'. Interpret that as you will.

xXHermione GrangerXx 08-22-2009 02:19 PM

I have a London, English accent

caseyjarryn 09-03-2009 09:46 AM

Australian I guess, I can't hear it... I'm from tassie, so it's not a really strong Aussie accent, I have my tongue pierced, which sometimes makes me sound a little bit english for some reason! haha

BonnieGinnyfan 09-08-2009 08:18 AM

I'm Greek so i don't know!:P

lexitonks81 09-09-2009 08:27 AM

i have a cross between an australian and a southern english accent. i can do a range of accents though, like irish, scottish, northern english and a proper southern english!! i can also do some form of american, but it sounds pretty weird XD.

Jenny_Potter 09-09-2009 06:27 PM

I have an American, Jersey accent :)

firenjen 09-09-2009 06:31 PM

i have a British accent. and btw, its not what people who arn't english imagine. we dont all speak like butlers! lol! just for the record, because on the internet i saw someone american giving english ellocution lessons, and it was miles off! and she had a diploma!! hahahaha

also, why do loads of american people like British accents? i dont get it

chloevictoria 09-10-2009 08:50 AM

i have a new zealand accent, with a hint of an aussie accent because i lived there most of my life so it still sticks around with me.

Sherbetsnitch 09-11-2009 03:28 PM

I have a strong Scottish accent.

KrissKat16 09-13-2009 01:02 AM

new york accent! we pronounce "coffee" as "cawfee". "dog" as "dawg", and "york" as "yawk"

Preethz_danfan 09-25-2009 07:20 AM

Totally Indian >_<

hermionesclone 09-25-2009 10:43 PM

I've got a British accent. I agree with firenjen: it's not how non-British people think it is like. People have said to me that even though i was born in India and my sister was born in England, i've got a more British accent than her. I don't have an Indian accent, even though i'm Indian but i can put on an Indian accent and make it sound genuine.

miss.weasley23 09-25-2009 10:49 PM

I was born in New York, U.S. and I moved down to North Carolina in the south....Most of the time I have a slight New York accent (not pronouncing r's) but occasionally i get a southern touch to my voice (which I do not like :flower:)

Erindipity 10-11-2009 03:44 PM

^HHHEEEEYYYY *shakes fist*

:D I have a full throttle Southern U.S. accent!! Born and raised in the South (Georgia and Florida)

Most Northern men find it to be quite cute. teehee! I lay it on thick sometimes and others I rein it in. I like to dabble with a British acccent time to time though!! :xd:

lugen 10-18-2009 12:52 PM

mmm
i think i've an american-British accent

Mistress Of Chaos 10-19-2009 10:32 AM

I, sadly, have the boring England accent. But my family is from Italy, though.

Poisonedbyyou 10-29-2009 02:16 AM

Okay, well, in terms of American accents, I live closer to the South, but all my friends tell me I have a Northern accent because I was born up North.

Zandalay 10-31-2009 06:42 AM

I apparently have an Oklahoma accent. Not sure how that's possible, since I've lived in the California desert and/or Key West, Florida my whole life...

Vampire_BaD_GiRl 11-02-2009 05:16 PM

I have a slight Russian accent, but my mom says it's fading (that means I signed in SS :shifty: )

Ellieeenator 11-02-2009 05:32 PM

I have a Hoosier accent. I think there's such thing. It's a little southern.

xtina_91 11-04-2009 10:35 AM

I have a posh Scottish accent. Although, I don't think people outwith Scotland will see it that way haha. I'll show you a few phrases and how us Aberdonians (North East Scots) would say them:

Hello, how are you? - F'like?

Be quiet - Haud yer weesht

I'm from Aberdeen, not Glasgow! - Am fae Aeberdeen, nae Glasgow!

HAHA.

So funny.

mc.soldier 11-05-2009 05:40 AM

California, US accent, baby! xD

Becksibee 11-12-2009 11:20 PM

I have a Proper East Yorkshire Accent. Ull (Hull to those outside Ull - We don't know what H is in our vocabulary lol) Youtube it. But becarful cuz there is one lass on there who goes on about the Ull accent and this is how it really is but its not. Have a look around.

thatguyfromyourmathclass 11-21-2009 08:18 PM

I think I have a British accent/Australian accent. So it basically looks like, "Ello old'chap. Pip pip ossie!"
In my head it looks like that. (:

spacegirl94 11-21-2009 08:32 PM

i'm from new jersey, but i don't call it new joysey. i have a pretty non-accent accent. i speak hebrew (most hebrew) and i have an israeli accent, except that i can't say r the way israelis do. i've only lived in israel for three and a half months, though, so i have and excuse.

crazybella 11-21-2009 08:55 PM

american - oregon

SherrBear 11-22-2009 04:26 AM
