My accent is seriously mixed up. I'm originally from Wales area but I have no wayyy a Welsh accent, even being half Welsh and all!

I live in Gloucestershire so you'd expect my accent to be standard British but it's not! I have a slight Californian twang, even though I have no idea where that came from! All my friends think I'm part American or something but I'm nottt!!! :P

I suppose I have a teensy speck of Welsh in there but it doesn't really come out. At one point I went REALLY Bristolian like Hagrid and that was WEIRD! I was totally freeked out!

Also, I use American phrases like 'vacation', 'candy', 'elevator' and 'cookie'. Can't explain why, I just do!

Potatohead 04-16-2007 12:36 AM

Amazingly enough..Being from Texas..I have none..Never have..:P

Cool_L511 04-26-2007 02:01 PM

My accent is middle eastern with a tins of english to it and some american. People have said my accent is pretty sophisticated, and a rather particular person have said it's sexy and exotic.

I just think it's an accent you can't classify.

Riiya 05-03-2007 07:00 PM

Accent...well, for a Malaysian, they say I don't sound like one (Which is gooood!). I grew up with my mima who taught me english first...so my english is 'clean' as my teacher told me.

But I fake a brit accent easy =P

Slytherin Fox 05-04-2007 07:56 PM

I don't have much of an accent. But if you listen closely, you might be able to detect a very slight hint of a southern drawl. This is because I am originally from Virginia (something very few people know!)

Waterloo 05-08-2007 09:30 PM

I have your typical London accent. A cockney accent. I dont think its very attractive..

Shadow 05-09-2007 09:08 AM

English isn't my first language.I do speak fluent English,though..not to seem..um..PROUD here or something...ahem *stretches neck in a very proud way* XD
I usually have this British accent when I speak (the London one I THINK).But I can do an American one also.
It kinda depends on my mood.Weird,I know.

I don't want to brag but there were also some others that said my accent was sexy.

Sweet.Nightmare 05-10-2007 01:41 AM

Well, I have an American accent, but it's mixed with a tiny bit of southern.

nani 05-12-2007 03:47 AM

I don't think I have an accent since I'm a Filipino. Here in our hometown, we used to speak American english language but we don't actually adapt their accent, still the Filipino accent as they say. But I always love to speak and sound like a British one. The way the speak is so divine (on my opinion). If I sometimes mimic the way British people speak, my friends say i'm really good in mimicking the British accent and it seems like i'm one of them.

RLupin 05-12-2007 03:48 AM

hp_lvr01 06-05-2007 04:13 AM

I have a total American english accent and proud of it :) I'm on the westside, I don't know if they talk any different then the rest of America

crazy4snape 06-05-2007 04:19 AM

American

Renate 06-07-2007 10:33 PM

I speak with a British accent. Received Pronunciation. Though when I'm just chatting away it gets a bit more laidback and cockney I suppose. I can do an American accent too but it sounds like a British person putting on an American accent most of the time. haha. And English isn't even my first language.

Lomi 06-10-2007 03:44 AM

Definately notice my own Aussie accent. Though sometimes my Dad's Kiwi side kicks in and I'll say 'thet' or something along those lines. Really quite random as he doesn't have a Kiwi accent and I've never actually lived there.

Kasha Rosaria 06-10-2007 03:52 AM

I have an Australian accent - but not the stereotyped one, I'm from South Australia, we kind of sound like a cross between Australian and English.

dancerbookl 06-10-2007 04:02 AM

I don't really have an accent. In fact I don't have one @ all. I live in the States near DC.

But I can put on a British (cuz of our dear Harry Potter) and probably any other one a person can think of if I hear it first

DontCallMeNymphadora 07-15-2007 12:27 PM

Mine's mixed, since I have international heritage. You can tell I'm English, because the main two are Black Country (the area surrounding Birmingham, but not quite Brummie) and Cockney (my Nan), and then there's Welsh (but only when I speak Welsh, which is unfortunately often), Spanish (my Dad's Dad is Spanish, and lives in Seville) and American (my Dad's Mum).
Yurp, it is loooooong. But when I sing, you can just hear English (probably Cockney) and Spanish.

Thump0427 07-15-2007 12:48 PM

Im from the states so I dont really have much of an accent I suppose.

DeathEater24601 07-15-2007 01:19 PM

erm..............not sure, changes sometimes :P

Parslemouth555 07-15-2007 01:21 PM

Mostly English, with a tinge of Scots. When the mood takes me I can go the full Scotsman.

Marauder Mackenzie 07-15-2007 01:24 PM

Maddey gets the really complicated, international, cool accent and I'm stuck with the English/Welsh accent. :arg:

atmor 07-15-2007 01:26 PM

I have an American accent, but I sometimes have a Jamaican accent and I have a british accent im trying for a scottish and irish accent i have a texan accent too

McSainty 07-15-2007 10:29 PM

I'm from the states so I really don't have accent, but I can do loads different accents for some reason.

LeapFrog 07-17-2007 10:47 PM

I've got the generic American accent. Though according to some people, I say "water" kinda funny.

nikole 07-18-2007 09:07 PM

i have a redneck accent a.k.a southern accent.

MalfoyzBeloved 07-20-2007 10:35 PM

I kinda have a mix of Canadian and American (accent). I lived in the States and picked up a fair amount of words... mainly using soda. I used to say `pop` the entire time, but I got used to hearing soda I started using that...
And the whole `abaot` pronounciation of `about` and small things like that.
More Canadian now tho :D (since it`s been 3 years since moving back to Canada...)

Mercia 07-20-2007 10:38 PM

My accent is " Brummie " which is the name of the accent that people have from the Birmingham area of England :) like me

Lissy Longbottom 07-21-2007 03:11 AM

I have a midwest accent...according to a California lady we met on vacation there 2 years ago.

TiffanyT. 07-31-2007 04:11 AM

central american accent...i'm from texas, but i definitely DON"T have what you would call a 'texan' accent. i loveee people with australian and british accents. *drools*

Sectumsempra 08-01-2007 06:22 PM

just american...how boring.

hpfan4eva 08-01-2007 06:30 PM

Same here - do you say it "wudder"? I think you've captured my answer pretty well. Most of the time, I've got the common American accent but, if I'm around people from Northern New Jersey or from New York, I feel my accent get thicker and more New Joiseyan, lol. I love it, though!

MusicalTheatreGirl 08-05-2007 04:24 PM

is this my actual accent or accents that i can flawlessly imitate?:shifty:
i have a "standard american" accent but i can imitate standard british, cockney, and liverpool.

hpfan4eva 08-05-2007 04:28 PM

speaking of how i say water, i pronouce it "wada" none of us down here say any ers....

Libbi_Granger 08-05-2007 04:35 PM

^ I have kind of a Mainer accent. We say things like Wicked, and Cah (Car) and just somewhat bad gramatical correctness.

Black Bella 08-05-2007 04:50 PM

I sincerely have no idea. I suppose I should have Czech accent, since I'm Czech, but somehow I really don't. One of my friends told me that I sound Irish.

dendoinx 09-03-2007 08:34 AM

i don't have any idea...though i do have the knack of imbibing other people's accents...:P

dracoismysmexyone 09-09-2007 05:34 PM

i have a midwestern american accent, so i say "almost" like "olmost" and fun stuff like that.

Renate 09-10-2007 02:34 PM

English, but I can do American too. So it depends on my mood I guess.

Soubiplz 09-10-2007 05:53 PM

English Accent, but not common. I can do many though Welsh, American and more :)

Antarctica 09-11-2007 03:56 PM

I'm German, so I can do zis evill German var machine Hollywood-style accent wizout any TH in it, jawoll, but I rarely do it because it's pretty silly.
So, in conversation: British, as much as I can manage.

noodles 09-12-2007 11:46 AM

Aalreet, I have a geordie accent (English). Although people always say I sound scottish.. :madeye:

Moony 09-12-2007 06:59 PM

I have a Scottish accent, I'm from Edinburgh so I don't think it's too strong but it probably is to someone who isn't from here.

I'm Turkish too!!!! But my accent is waaaaaaaaaaay too British. Oxfordshire to be exact because I started to speak English along with Turkish (I had a nanny-weird i know!). But i'm in an American School in Turkey for 10 years now so its not as heavy as it used to be. I'm in drama so its really hard because I speak extremely fast therefore even my American drama teacher has to make me repeat what i'm saying lol..

Ryanrocks 10-28-2007 05:34 PM

RogueTonks 11-04-2007 02:12 PM

Princesspotter1234 11-18-2007 03:54 PM

I probably have a clear accent,since I'm Asian!

MagicalGlam 12-09-2007 01:14 AM

ERR...
I'm not entirely sure if I have an accent anymore. Well, I'm Mexican...and speak English (since I live in America) but I dropped the Spanish accent when I was little because I was made fun of in school mercilessly. Does that make any sense? HMMM.

xKikix 03-01-2008 06:38 AM

Boston.

Paahk the caah in Haahhvaad Yaahhddd!!!!

danegerzone 03-01-2008 09:00 AM

Kiwi (New Zealand) accent. I used to have a really thick Filipino accent up until 7th grade when I started hanging out with this guy who knew no Filipino, so I got a passable American accent. Then we moved to NZ and everyone thought I came from America, but I adapted the New Zealand accent right way.

Fush and chups!

Krysti 03-02-2008 02:48 AM

I live in upstate New York, near Rochester. Since I don't really know how to describe a Rochester accent, I'll let Wikipedia do it for me:

Quote:

A "Rochester accent" can be described as a form of Inland Northern American English, like a "Chicago accent" or a "Detroit accent". It has also been described as "nasally", most easily recognized by the vocalization of the short "a" (æ) sound: "and" is delivered as something closer to "i-uhnd" ([ˈɪənd]).

It is often described as including the pronunciation of the city itself as "Rach'str" ([ˈɹatʃ.stɚ]) or describing something as "faen-teas-tic."

Sneakeh Cat 03-02-2008 03:00 AM

American!!!!!

I feel your pain. When I left Boston, I was teased a lot about my accent. I just teased right back.
You should have told them you can at least speak 2 languages!

Dawlish 03-03-2008 07:43 PM

apparently i sound American when I say American or Million..... I've never even been to America though

therock_sorceress 03-04-2008 08:32 PM

I developed a British accent because I have lots of British friends...Though I've never been to London.

Lania Felton 03-04-2008 08:40 PM

Okay I was looking through here and i saw people saying they sound American, well thats kinda impossible unless you chose a specific kind of section through the US. Like I'm from Wisconsin, where we have a Wisconsin or Mid-west accent because we make words like slurr together like say you are going to tell your friend,"I'm going to the store" we'd say,"Imgointathestore." Or like,"What are you doing that for"and we say,"Watchyadointhatfor." Its funny cuz it all goes together and its like one word.

ClockCollector 03-04-2008 08:46 PM

I guess I have a Pittsburgeese accent. I'm not as bad as some people though. I've occasionaly spoken with a Brittish accent because of our current play (Alice in Wonderland)/ my obsession of Sweeney Todd.

CaityCrucio 03-07-2008 08:43 PM

Yorkshire! (UK)

Most people think of Yorkshire accets as a 'common' British accent but its really not. Just cause were not posh.
And no American people, I dont talk like most Americans think all British people. To be honest I think its only the queen who is acctually that posh. Im not pst at all!

No being offensive to Amercans at all btw.
I love America. Ive been 5 times!

Deadmau5 03-07-2008 08:50 PM

Most people think I have a Californian Accent. But I never have been there.

moonchic07 03-08-2008 09:33 AM

I actually can have a pretty good accent from everywhere. I can do a good southern American accent, an Ohioian accent and a Pennsylvania dutch accent mainly because I've been there throughout my life. I also can do a pretty good British accent and a good french and spanish accent if I speak the language. I also have a slight Purto Rican accent with some words do to my high school musical last year, I had to play a purto rican girl. So yeah, I can do a lot of different accents even if I haven't left the USA.

Night_Owl 04-05-2008 06:35 PM

i don't know really. I mean most people from an eastren part in the USA have this hick or hillbillyish sound but im actually more proper than most people in that part, kinda like ohio people.

Zoe 04-06-2008 10:34 PM

I have a Canadian accent, though my friends swear that I have an accent between a US Mid-West accent and a New York accent.

Alohomora 04-06-2008 10:43 PM

I don't think I have an accent. And if I do, it's not strong enough for anyone to ever mention it.

Nattie 04-06-2008 10:48 PM

With me being from Nottinghamshire in England, mine is a midlands accent. Within England, most people can't notice my accent save a few words (e.g bath and grass), however, when with family, I do slip into Brum and Manc.

PhoenixRising 04-06-2008 11:03 PM

With me hailing from New Jersey, I have been told that i have a strong "Joisey accent".

As described by wikipedia:

Quote:

The accent of Philadelphia and nearby parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland, is probably the original ancestor of General American. It is one of the few coastal accents that is rhotic, and one of the first to merge the historical [oɹ] of hoarse, mourning with the [ɔɹ] of horse, morning. It also maintains the cot-caught contrast, unlike New England and western Pennsylvania. Nevertheless there are differences between modern Philadelphia speech and General American, some of which will be outlined here.

* "Water" is sometimes pronounced /wʊdɚ/, that is, with the vowel of wood
* As in New York English/New Jersey English, but unlike General American, words like orange, horrible, etc., are pronounced with [-ɑɹ-]. See English-language vowel changes before historic r: "Tory-torrent merger"

Auror-Gal 04-07-2008 07:19 PM

I have a british accent, as i live there, but its not proper british, like the queen or a londoner. Im from up north in yorkshire, so its proper broad.

Kaytee Bee 05-22-2008 05:00 PM

I'm from Arkansas, so I have a southern accent. And no, I don't sound hick. I don't dress hick, either. Some people think that just because some people are from the southern US means we dress in overalls, go barefoot, and ride our horse to school. Just thought I'd clear this up that we don't :)

I hate it how people judge you by where you come from. Like my friends who are Molly (thats just a coinsidence)and Shannon they are from Maryland. They also have a little brother, Shay, and Shannon and Shay sound like NYers and Molly at first sounds like she moved from England. I have a Nyers accent but kinda not like a Brooklyn one just a typical NYers accent.

thenextmissrowling 05-30-2008 11:44 AM

I have a slight Midwestern US accent, but for the most part it fits into the generic, newscaster "accent-free" version of American English. Of course, to an outsider English speaker, I have an American accent...

Katieluff 05-30-2008 12:10 PM

English accent.

rellybelly 06-06-2008 01:36 PM

I don't have an accent but sometimes I say my 'R's in Hebrew.

Beloved 06-14-2008 01:49 AM

Accent free most of the time, but when I am around my Nona and my Italian family I pickup their accent and when I am around my moms family it's Scottish...I sounded really funny when I was little.

hippy☮ 06-28-2008 09:20 AM

Well, I wouldn't consider it an accent.. as it'sjust how I and all the people that live around me talk.. But, I guess you could say I have a Minnesooootan accent ;)

Apparently we tend to talk fast, and slur our words together. At least thats what my relatives from California say when I go out there. They tell me to slow down a lot.
Although, thankfully I don't say 'pop'. I acutally shudder when I hear other people say it, which sucks, 'cause this entire state says it. Ugh!!

Ms.Malfoy 06-28-2008 09:39 AM

I have an aussie accent. Its so funny when people try to do an australian accent because they make us out to be bogans (look it up.) :) I love how people think we have kangaroos in our backyards because guess what, we don't and yes we wear singlets and shorts but its because its hot here most of the time.

Nat nat 07-03-2008 09:47 AM

Flipper 07-28-2008 10:18 AM

Portuguese :P
we have 3 main accents here: the south, the north and the center. I got the center accent ;) the one from the city

But when I speak english, I know I have a slitght accent. My friends calls it 'Edinburgh accent', although I don't really agree. I've never been to Scotland.
It's not british accent, though....

I love british and irish accents!

princess of*hp* 07-28-2008 06:27 PM

There are tonnes of British accents ( we dont all talk the same )

I have a Brummie accent ( From the city of Birmingham ) , which is British ....

Prongs999 08-07-2008 07:23 PM

Um...I have an accent from the D.C area...I don't live there but I used to. And if you have REALLY good ears you can hear some aussie.

Patronus Charm 08-19-2008 06:46 PM

I have a southern accent, as in American from the south....but it is subtle. When I speak to Yankees, that would be folks from the North, after about 5 mins I subconciously imitate them. My husband has an Irish accent and my daughters pronounce about 25% of their worlds w/ his accent.
