| | |  The Eagle's Nest: Common Room
Image credit: hermionesclone At the top of a long spiral staircase on the west side of the castle, you come to the entrance to the Ravenclaw common room. The door bears no doorknob or keyhole, only a bronze knocker shaped like an eagle. For those able to answer the knocker’s riddle, the door will swing open to reveal an airy, circular room. The room boasts one of the best views in the castle, overlooking the school grounds and surrounding mountains.
The room is decorated in varying shades of blue and bronze, from the silks adorning the arched windows to the starry-patterned midnight blue carpet. If you happen to look up, you’ll see the same stars reflected in the domed ceiling. Even the furniture follows the blue and bronze color scheme, with plush blue chairs and sofas topped with bronze cushions scattered about the room. Portraits of famous Ravenclaw alumni hang on the walls, and a white marble statue of Rowena Ravenclaw herself stands beside a door at the opposite side of the room, Through that door you’ll find the stairs to the dorms.
THe common room is designed to be warm and inviting, so why not curl up with a good book and make yourself at home? | |

Seventh year had started off difficult. Much more so than Ignacio had expected. He was avoiding someone he had spent much of the last two years desperate to be friends with, and feeling like he was about to spill a million secrets every time he opened his mouth, and on top of that Professors were already talking about NEWTs and his parents were already asking him what his plans were for next year.
The only bright spot was Nerina, and making the most of time with her. That, and his friendship with Lumi was (sort of) back on track, even though he spent a lot of time just worrying about the Gryffindor.
And so, focusing on that bright spot, he was sat at a table in the Common Room working on his girlfriends birthday present. Or Christmas. Whenever it was ready, she'd get it at the next celebration. Opening up the next page of the book, he looked at the stack of pictures next to him, and the flowers on the other side, and started laying them in different arrangements.

Ash's year was going okay-ish. There was nothing wrong with Hogwarts(knock on wood). There was nothing wrong with her- okay there was always something wrong with her- but not more than usual. Not since Blake had devised a plan to make sure she ate on time instead of forgetting. Not since she'd been taking the proper potions at the right times. But it was just a little off, because of a certain someone's(her ex boyfriend's) absence, and Ash had to spend lots of time meditating to even begin to make up for losing his company. She tried her best to still be social, at least to the other Ravenclaws.
She was hanging around the common room, trying not to think thoughts, when she noticed Ignacio. Considering him a friend, she slid into a seat beside him. "Is it okay if I watch what you're making?" Ash asked, not wanting to intrude. | |

Ignacio had his tongue between his teeth and eyes narrowed in concentration when Ash approached. He pressed the corners of the photo he'd chosen down before looking up at her, relaxing a little and offering her an easy smile. "'Course it is," he said, shuffling the things on the table to make a little room, just in case she wanted to work on something to. "As long as you don't mind me asking your advice," he added, almost as an afterthought, as he touched the flowers next to him.
"Based on this photo," Ignacio indicated with his head the one he'd just pressed into the book, of Nerina looking rather lovely in a green summer dress and him looking like a complete dork. "Which one?" He lay the pink geranium, the baby blue Himalayan Poppy and the delicate Baby's Breath next to the page.

"I never mind anyone asking me for advice," Ash commented quietly, looking over what he was working on. It was true. People asking her things made her feel valued. "Seventh year or first year." She lowered her voice. "And especially not when they're my friend and they're making something special." She could only assume this was for Nerina... how sweet. She thought for a moment, worried that she'd somehow make the 'wrong' decision and ruin everything ever. "I really like the blue one. Because... it looks nice." She wasn't a flower expert, and she was the opposite of a dating expert, but at least she knew what she liked visually. | |

"Then I'll be asking for your advice much more often," Ignacio offered with a grin. Merlin knew he'd need advice this year, given that he'd made no decisions on what came next. But for now, he was focused on this scrapbook, which was, as Ash had so rightly said, very special.
"Himalayan Poppy it is, then," he said, before his tongue was once again stuck between his teeth in concentration as he arranged the flower on the page. It had to be just right, because once he pressed it in, it was going to dry there and be there forever. So he fiddled with the angles a little before sitting back. "You're right, it does look nice."

Ash relaxed a little when the flower was on the page and she could see how it looked. She wasn't sure she'd seen a Himalayan poppy before, but it was a beautiful flower. She waited quietly as Ignacio adjusted it, not breathing or moving much so that he couldn't be distracted from his work on the present. When he finished, she looked over and offered a very approving "ooh." She didn't regret her advice at all! And she thought his placement was great. "That's a really cute picture of you and Nerina. You're making this for her, right?" Her heart felt funny at that. She wished someone would make her thoughtful scrapbooks... but she was really happy for Ignacio and Nerina. What they had was sweet. And Ashley was sure she'd never find something like that in the future. | |

Everything seemed pretty perfect now, though - it was like colours were brighter and flowers were prettier and, even though he had no clue what he was going to do next year, he had never been happier.
Closing the scrapbook over, and waving his wand to put everything else away, he settled back in his chair and looked at Ash. "What are you doing next year?"

Hopefully before the end of the year... "I- if I'm up to it- I'm going to be traveling with my father and learning from him for a few years, and then I'm going to work on making my own nonprofit." Hopefully with her father's help, but it was all her idea. "While I travel, I'm going to try and get my life in order. And I'm going to paint everything I see." | |

It had also crossed his mind that she might realise she was mad to be with him by the time her birthday rolled around, and therefore it would be a pointless present. But that wasn't something he liked to dwell on, of course.
His eyes widened as Ash spoke, his grin reflecting how impressed he was. "That's seriously cool, you know." Sighing wistfully and running his hands through his hair, Ig contemplated how everyone seemed to have everything mapped out, and everyone was aiming hiiiiiiiiigh. Not out of their reach high, but higher than he could even imagine. One day he might worry that they'd leave him behind, but his brain hadn't got there yet.
"Where are you going to travel to?"
