Arranged in its usual state, the door to the Potions Classroom was once again open for the day's lesson. On top of each workstation are your typical Potions materials and tools ready to be used.
Up ahead, Healer Reed can be seen leaning against the blackboard, hands stuffed into his trousers' pockets waiting for his students to arrive. Roscoe and Bumi can be seen lounging on the side, proudly wearing their Red Cross badges around their necks.
No time to dilly-dally! Come in and let's start brewing!
OOC: HELLO HELLO!!! We'll begin in approximately 24 hours after this post. Remember that this isn't your first potions class for the term. Class is in session!

I'd love to team up with you guys", She said with a warm smile as she came to them. So... Where to first?.. I say we start with the easiest and work up to the harder stuff... What do you think? ", Randa added.
Rhea nodded. Three brains would definitely be better than one. Especially considering that her brain was sleep deprived and kinda spaced out. "Hey," she said, greeting Miranda with a half-smile. "Which is the easiest?" She wondered aloud. "The fireseeds will be somewhere where there's a fire." She knew there were fireplaces in the common rooms, but she highly doubted they'd be there.
While they were discussing there to go first, Rhea packed up her things, making sure she had everything she needed for the task.
After having giving advice to Patrick and Dahlia, Kitty turned to two second years (one of whom she knew rather well as Emmeline) and proceeded to give them the same advice. "Hey guys! Just want to give you a hint if you don't mind. For the fireseeds, I'd recommend looking in the library. I'm certain you'll find them. Well good luck!"
She winked at them (Gosh she was winking today) and headed out of the classroom to go to the library herself, satisfied with having helped for younger students.
Vivian was still a little sheepish about her question, but was very much grateful that Miss Etta didn't give her a look of total judgment. The blond appreciated it and continued to smile at the Hufflepuff. But with Miss Etta's question, Vivian responded with a nod immediately as she checked on her watch to see how long they had left. "Yeah, I think we should," she said. "Not enough time to waste with just thirty minutes in our hands." But because of her new responsibilities, even the Slytherin knew how to work around with just a few minutes.
It got her thinking, about the fireseeds. She remembered clearly that she had visited Ethan at the library last term. Vivian leaned closer to Miss Etta. "There's a fireplace in the library. I remember hanging out there with Ethan last term," she whispered. "Should we give it a try?" But honestly, there were a hundred other places at Hogwarts that used fire, like the kitchens! However, weighing the pro's and con's, the blond was sure the house elves wouldn't be too pleased with accommodating way too many students at the same time down the basements.
Thirty minutes, yes. They barely had any time at all. "We can start with the library fireplace.. sure. They are plenty of other fireplaces around the castle so we have back-up options thankfully." Etta spoke thoughtfully. ".. even if we are running short on time." She quickly grinned, packing her bag and making sure they had all the necessary material that would be required, including the protective gear. That was very important, yes.
"Come on." Slinging the bag over her shoulder, she waited for Kat to finish packing up her things before starting to walk towards the door. "This is quite exciting, isn't it?" She added, feeling rather cheerful.

She wasn't aware of those still half asleep among her classmates, now much more preoccupied with the lady Julie had pointed out, making it something of a surprise when Healer Reed instructed them to get their faces washed. What? Had she missed something?
Not entirely sure what it was about, the Ravenclaw rose from her seat and did as several others in the room had gotten up to do.
Once back at her seat, she pulled her hair up into a semi-neat bun while she listened to the rest of the instructions. A scavenger hunt of sorts by the sound of it. While the man wouldn't say where they would need to find these, she felt she already had a pretty good idea. All the time spent searching for ingredients for her own potions would come in handy.
Jessa shrugged into her lab coat before grabbing and throwing on the rest of her protective gear. For now the goggles remained atop her head as they weren't needed but everything else was in place. "Let's grab these and go. Shouldn't be too hard." She said, packing some of the equipment they would need into her bag. Julie would surely grab the rest. After double checking they had everything, the young girl led the way from the Potions Lab.

Ooh this was going to be fun. Scavenger hunts were one of Kitty's favorite types of lessons. She remembered doing a particularly fun Arithmancy scavenger hunt several years ago. And now that she'd been a prefect for several terms, she knew the layout of the castle more than many and would probably be good at this.
But of course as she was head girl, helping the younger students find their way around without getting into trouble was more important than she personally finding all the things on the list.
She looked around to see if there was anyone who needed a partner. She spotted two first year students Patrick and Dahlia getting ready to partner. "Psst!" she said in a rather loud whisper. "I can't know for certain, but I would recommend you guys check the library. My intuition tells me you'll find something." She winked and walked off to the next first year.
Oh oh oh, someone was talking to them. The Head Girl no less. Who was most definitely one of the older students, just such a person they were hoping to find. AND she had suggestions! Ones that sounded very good, considering neither of them had a clue what to do.
"Oh my gosh, thank you!" She beamed as the older walked off to help someone else, and turned her attentions back to Patrick.

Patrick turned and looked at the older student who said try the library. He figured that would be a good place to start if an older student was giving direction, at least he hoped. "Thanks, we'll start there." He turned his attention back to Dahlia and looked down at his jotted down list of items needed, Looks like we should go to the library and maybe the grounds as well." he looked back over to Dahlia to get a sense of if she thought it was the right decision.
"So library, yes. But, didn't the professor say we didn't need to go outside?" Dahlia looked across at the chalkboard and frowned. She really should have paid more attention. "Uhh, how abouts we go to the library first, then maybe get some idea of what other people are doing and perhaps follow them? I think, yeah? Let's go!"
Grabbing Patrick by the hand, she rushed as fast as they were allowed out the room and towards their first destination. Hopefully it was the right one.

OOOH a scavenger hunt? Scarlett was NOT expecting that, but was pretty excited. She had to admit, she LOVED the monotonous work that was required in potions - it was all laid out for you in easy to understand steps. Still this would be a fun change. Actually HUNTING for ingredients? Bring it on!
Washing her hands and pulling her hair into a small little ponytail that barely kept all her short hair in place, she looked around. "I need a partner!" she called out. Ugh, where was Saff when she needed her?!

Kyle blinked a moment after he was bumped into and looked up at the older student. Biting his lip, he nodded and ran off, shouting behind him, "Give me just a moment!" He quickly washed his hands and got his protective gear on before dodging a few students as he ran back over. He wiggled his fingers in his gloves and held up his hands. "Okay, I'm ready! Where should we look first?"
The kind asked for a moment, so Matt carried on walking towards the door, only a bit slower. He summoned his bag because that was what magic was for and stepped outside. Kid was surely rushing because he was behind Matt again in no time. He approved!
Where should they look first? "Outside!" Of this classroom, he meant. Which it would be where the ingredients were and ALSO where he could carry on eating his Cauldron Cakes, mwaha. Maybe the kid was asking for specifics. See, Matt wasn't great with specifics like that. "Let's go and see what we find." 'Cause that was how he rolllleeeeddd.

Honestly, she was probably taking more classes than any of them and she was more awake; but perhaps it was the keeping busy that allowed her to be mostly awake. Although some exercise in running around and looking for ingredients would be good to wake some of them up, which fortunately due to the health and wellness class she took on weekends, wouldn't be so difficult.
Fireseeds though? Oh no! Skylar had flashbacks to when she burned herself and the one of the few times she had been to a professor's office - conveniently Healer Reed's. But she was older now and would be okay, right? Maybe. The fifth year glanced around for a partner, and notice that her potions buddy (Vivian, who sat down next to her) was partnering with Etta. And then there was a new Gryffindor kid ... Beau, no wait, he was partnered... Patrick and Dahlia... Oliver and Hattie ... goodness, was everyone already partnered up? Cameron and Junia.... yep, all the partners; seemed she might be going solo on this venture, not that she minded. She was a fifth year and definitely knew her way well enough around the castle.
Then she saw an older Ravenclaw asking if anyone needed a partner. Cassandra McNally, who'd been chosen to represent Ravenclaw in the IMPS last year and she was pretty sure she'd partnered with before on a few occasions. She didn't need help, per say, but ... "I'll partner with you, if you want, unless younger students would need help?" Because it might be better for them to use their age to help out the first or second years if needed?
Well that was unexpected. A not-quite-that much younger Slytherin, Skylar, to approach her. “I suppose so…” Cassie said, willing to wait just a little longer to see if they needed to pair off with younger students or at the very least add a third to their little group. But it seemed as any of them voiced their need or just looked confused and lost, they were snapped up by other older students. So it looked liked her original partner stuck, the Ravenclaw turning to the younger girl. “Guess its us then…” she mused before looking at her notes.
“Fireseeds would be in the kitchens or any place with a fire.” Like the common rooms that neither could get into the others. “And the betany leaves and stargrass should be in the gardens,” she added, debating their first move. “Seems like we should just work our way up then…come on,” Cass finished, taking the lead and taking them outside the classroom. Best to get this show on the road.
Henry looked up at Healer Reed's mention of prefects and older students, specifically the Head Boy. That was him, of course. Potions wasn't exactly his best subject so he didn't know how much help he would actually be. But he figured he had something to offer a younger student, so he would do his best if someone needed him. And he was definitely up for a scavenger hunt.
He looked around a bit as some of the older students offered to help younger ones and people just basically partnered up. Henry noticed that Stasya and Emmeline deciding to work together. He figured that they'd make pretty good partners, but didn't Healer Reed say that older and younger should work together, and not older and older, or younger and younger? Maybe he didn't say that at all and Henry had just made that up, but he thought he'd at least offer his help to the younger girls.
Gathering his things and writing down some of the ingredients they needed, he soon headed over to the Gryffindors. "Do you girls need someone to work with and keep you in line?" Okay, that last part he was joking, evident by the grin on his face. But either way. He was fine working by himself too.

Stupidly, Remy had forgotten to look at the time when they left the potions lab originally so he had no idea if they had made it back in time… BUT what he did know, was they had the botany leaves, the stargrass and the carefully held, still flaming fireseeds. What a team. Hopefully.
Walking back through the dungeons to the classroom, Remy listened to - and answered - as many of Beau’s questions as he could. Even that couldn’t bring his good mood down. It was almost potion-making time!
Confidently entering the classroom again, Remy shot Healer Reed a happy (and slightly smug) smile. ”Hey Healer Reed." He still had no idea if they were back within the allocated time… but that had been fun. "Do the fireseeds need to be on fire when we use them? Or were we supposed to extinguish them?" He asked as he placed the open container on the table and finally took off his dragon-hide gloves he had worn the whole way down from the libary.
After scribbling down the ingredients that she needed to find, Felicity ignored the Healer/Potions Master's instructions to put her hair into a ponytail only because she'd braided it very nicely that morning, and instead just tucked the end of the braid into the back of her cloak. After that, she grabbed her bag and the few things she thought she might need on her hunt for the ingredients, and then began to look around.
Did anyone else need a partner? Anyone have an open group? Felicity wasn't a shouter, or a caller, so she just looked to see if anyone was free, or looking as lost as she felt.

Oooops. She knew that she'd forgotten to do something, and apparently that something was to wash her hands. Emmeline went a bit red in embarrassment as Mr. Healer reminded her, 'cause the dogs had totally distracted her in a good way. The Gryffindor leapt up from her seat as soon as he'd said that, given Mr. Healer a cheerful salute, and raced to the sinks to wash her hands super thoroughly and stuff before she snagged a labcoat and protective gear and landed back in her seat next to Stasya BEFORE the lesson started, yesss! It wasn't hard to put her hair up in a ponytail as she listened to all of Mr. Healer's talking, either.
No creature parts yet today. Emmeline breathed out a sigh of relief as Mr. Healer asked them to find three plants, even if she had no clue where they would find ANY of those plants. Maybe Derf would give them a fireseed? She turned to Stasya and grinned when her bestie asked if they'd be partners and said, "Of course!!" She had just started looking around for a free older student to join them, since she was clueless and all, when Mr. Henry showed up! With his shiny new Head Boy badge on, too. She returned his grin with a biiiiig one of her own and chirped, "Yes, please! Where should we go look?" The last question was directed at both of her new partners, though still mostly Mr. Henry 'cause he probably knew EVERYTHING since he was Head Boy.

Shay paid attention as class was called to order. She was rather surprised to hear that they would be moving right into the Mini Activity. On top of that, this would be an 'on the move' activity. It sounded like a scavenger hunt to find potion ingredients. Ok then. Well......the first thing Shay needed to do was to get herself ready. She had already washed her hands, but she definitely needed to put her hair back. Reaching into her pocket, Shay retrieved a hair clip. Then she put her voluminous hair up and out of the way. Next she donned her protective gear, putting her gloves on last.
Now Shay needed to find a partner. She looked around the room and was dismayed to see that most of her classmates already had partners. Finally she saw someone who looked as alone as she did. Walking over to the Slytherin girl (Felicity), she made her pitch. "Hi, do you have a partner? If you don't, would you like to team up with me?" Shay hoped so because otherwise she was going to have to go it alone........and the clock was ticking.

Well, that was true. There were loads of fireplaces in the castle, and she was sure some of them would be in the common rooms and even officers of professors. But all of those sounded like terrible ideas. No, she wasn't going to break in a professor's personal space and no, she wasn't going to drag Miss Etta into the Slytherin Common Room. "Okay," Vivian grinned at the Hufflepuff and started packing her bag too. Before she could forget, she slipped on the necessary protective gear.
Exciting? "Yup! I'm always up for expleoing," the blond shared. "There's still a lot more places here in the castle that I have yet to see for myself." Like those secret passag ways her dad would tell her about? Yeah, she'd have to visit those!

Her legs were starting to get sore as she walked in through the door to the potions classroom, clutching her container with fireseeds in one hand and her plants in the other. As a prefect with daily patrols, her legs were used to walking for long distances though, so the soreness was only slight.
"Hey Professor," she greeted him as she returned to her desk and set the items down. She took off her gloves and safety goggles. "The others are coming along just fine. Hey guess what? I went all the way up to the seventh floor to look in the garden. Thought you might have, my bad." Not blaming you or anything for the sore legs...
She wasn't aware of those still half asleep among her classmates, now much more preoccupied with the lady Julie had pointed out, making it something of a surprise when Healer Reed instructed them to get their faces washed. What? Had she missed something?

naturally the Professor had made zero mention of the woman in their class or to the presence of the newly arrived Bloody Baron -since when did /he/ wander into classes anyway? Shouldn't his Baroness have been busy scaring off Peeves or pining for the Grey Lady? Why was he here? Why was the lady here? Why did no one else seem to notice or care? Julie felt like she was going batty. Things only got worse for her head when Jessa sprouted a theory which was all-too-easy-to-believe given her classmates (and Reed's) total lack of interest.
"That's mental." She muttered, reaching back to plait her curls. "But if she's a mass hallucination shouldn't everyone be seeing her? Not just us- Unless." Oh. "You didn't notice her until I mentioned her... Maybe... I fed the idea to you... " This was getting trippy, way trippy and Julie wasn't enjoying it. Hogwarts needed to stop playing with her. whatever, maybe washing her face would clear her head since Mairwen wasn't here to do the job..
Side-Plait in full effect, Julie rose up along with Jessa and nodded her agreement. She too, grabbed her work gear, their various instruments and doodads, and donned her goggles (which she wished were maybe halographic, or glitter or anything else over this dull grey). Yeah, okay, just ignore the woman and the shirtless kid and the Baron and get to work. Easy.
Following after, Julie mentally huffed. This was not going as she'd planned.

Well someone didn't seem that eager? But then again, if she was being honest, she hadn't been all too eager herself. Probably due to way too much on her mind; mixed emotional feelings combined with her classwork and to think she was only a few weeks into school. At this rate, her face would be completely broken out by Christmas. Just relax the fifth year reminded herself, breathe in, breathe out. "Guess so." She smiled at the older girl. They could handle this. Betony leaves, stargrass, fireseeds. Although fireseeds still made her super nervous, but at least she wasn't working with a certain sixth year Gryffindor.
Wait, Cassie already worked out where they might be? Gardens for the first two, fireplace for fireseeds. Is that how Ravenclaws worked? Their mind was already two steps ahead of the game? And people thought she was a Ravenclaw, honestly. Yes, she was smart, but only because she was ambitious enough to work towards it. Working things out in your head so quickly? That was the true mark of a Ravenclaw; something she was almost positive Noah was gifted at. "After you," she redid her ponytail, slipped on her protective gear and followed the older student out of the room.

With only minutes left as they hit the dungeon corridors, the Ravenclaw picked up some speed in her steps. It wasn't necessarily running, no, but it was a lot faster than the speed with which they had left the room earlier.
There was still the thought that they technically only had enough for one potion now, but it took a back burner to actually getting back. Healer Reed had stressed punctuality in his rules and while this wasn't necessarily arriving, it was still being given a time limit and likely being expected to follow accordingly.
Just slightly winded, the young girl came to a stop at their work station, plopping the bag back on the table.
"Made it with two minutes to spare. Not bad at all." Considering the wrong turn they'd taken earlier.
There was a noticeable pause as she turned to look at the man before facing her friend again. "D'you think we should ask him....?"

They didn't make it back before the Head Girl (Evil-entine), but at least Katy made it back with her partner unharmed and successful in their endeavor. She managed a polite face as she passed Kitty, gave a small smile to the Healer, and a nod to the woman taking notes about an empty classroom.
"Good exercise, sir." Katy unpacked the stargrass from the vial she'd rolled the starburst cluster of leaves into, and she added leaves to her scale until she had exactly 32 grams. Just as she thought... the leaves were a bit denser than her normal grasses, but approximately a cup without much waste. "Sir, do you mind if we keep the leftover stargrass? I'd like to dry it for another potion."

Julie tossed back her plait, a look of determination now on her face. They'd managed it. The first hurdle was down and after that sprint she felt better. Marginally, which was enough. The rest she could fake. "I think we'd better." If they got it out of the way now- rather than going on like nothing was up- then they could nip this whole situation in the bud before it all escalated and they flunked.
Resolved, and certain Jessa would agree with her, Julie stepped forward, tugging off her gloves as she approached Reed. "Professor Reed?" She politely began, tucking the gloves into her back pocket with anxious fingers. "Jessa and I have a question before we move on. Were we supposed to get double of everything or are we meant to share our potion and the ingredients?" Julie paused, ever so briefly and then went on in her same polite, but determined tone. "You didn't specify in your instructions and we were confused."
Because in the end, this was his fault for his lack of thorough explanation, not theirs and he needed to realize that.

Maddie bee-lined back into the classroom with her partner and all their ingredients. She had really lucked out by having Katy around with her. She didn't even want to think about the mess she'd have gotten into had she done all that by herself. She'd probably be on fire right about now, she imagined. "That was FUN, Professor Healer Reed!" she said. "...and did you know that betony leaves can treat mad dog bites?!" It was a random fact she'd learned on her journey to collect the ingredients.
She sat back down at the workstation she'd claimed for herself earlier while she waited for whatever they were going to do next. She still wasn't sleepy, but for the purposes of this lesson, she was pretending she was.

"Ok, let's do it! So the fireseeds...I'd assume those would be with the plants in the greenhouses. Do you have any ideas for the other one?" she asked.
Kimi smiled at Scarlett and said "Yeah that is right and hmm i think the healer said that nothing was outside so the fireseeds could be in one of the fires as for the other ones i am not sure where to find them, if you are ready to start then let's get going Scarlett"
