SPOILER!!: Lux

In no time at all, the cookies were ready to be baked. Lux carefully placed the trays inside the oven. Soon their cookies would be ready and they just needed to make sure not to burn them because no one liked gross and burnt cookies. They were the best when golden brown with gooey chocolate chips.

As she listened to Hady, Lux began cleaning up their work area so that the elves wouldn't have to. Scourgify was an amazing spell, because it made this kind of thing so much easier and faster. Hearing about Hady and Zeke was a lot more interesting than cleaning, however. "I would have freaked out too; I've never gotten a Howler before. So you two are best friends then?" She had assumed as much, but hadn't been positive on the matter. Secretly she was thinking that it wasn't at all uncommon for best friends to start a relationship...

The smile at the mention of Jaxon was adorable; friends really made people happy. She loved her friends. "How big is the time difference?" Merely curious. "I'm happy that I don't have to deal with that kind of thing when I talk to Bay."

When Lux went to put the cookies into the oven Hady helped her clean up the mess they had made. It wasn't much really but she only felt right with helping to clean since she had helped with the cooking.

"That was my first Howler honestly so I wasn't sure what to expect," she admitted with a nod of her head. Every Howler she'd seen or heard about was never good. "Mhmm, the bestest." They'd been best friends sense first year and Hady was more then happy with that.

She couldn't help the smile she gave when she spoke of her friend from home. They'd practically grew up together and everything. "A few hours, so I always need to think about it first in case he's in school or sleeping." It wasn't to much of a big deal but it needed some thought involved.

"Oh, two hours isn't too bad. I used to be five hours from my sister when she lived in Florida. But we talked in letters, not through mirrors." So really that wasn't a problem at all. "And because Bay lives in London, that's not a problem either." It was great being in the same time-zone so they could talk whenever they wanted to so long as she wasn't in class or doing homework.

Hady sat herself down on the stool beside Lux's lightly kicking her feet back and forth. One of these days she was going to actually grow a bit more!

"Yeah hopefully. If I do ever get another I'll be alright, just so it doesn't come from my father." Not that he was mean at all because he was actually one of the nicest men she knew and hardly ever got angry. When he did though it was never a pretty sight. At the mention of the Aparecium Hady groaned and shifted her eyes to the floor a moment. Yeah she'd seen it. "Yeah, yeah I did. Zeke found me in the corridor and wanted to talk about something someone else told him which probably had to do with that stupid paper. He however hadn't seen it so I had to explain it to him...then he said it didn't matter so I agreed and then he said he had to go see Professor Airey." Mhmm yup. Totally awkward. Since he was okay with it then she would be...

"Not really. If he's home anyway and not visiting family. It's better then before though so I'm fine with it." Hady smiled lightly.

Everyone knows he's in love with Emmy." And of course they also knew about her relationship, but that went without saying.

"Yeah, that's true..." she added with a smile as Hady mentioned how much easier it was to talk to Jaxon now. "So where do you live when you aren't at Hogwarts?" They lived close to each other, right? Lux didn't think she had asked Hady about this yet.

Gabriel was in a much better mindset these days...and because of that, had found himself venturing further away from the Ravenclaw Common Room...(and library)...for regular 'hang out' time. Progress was being made! Daily, too.

Cue the Hogwarts' kitchens.

As it was getting closer to his favorite holiday, the Ravenclaw had traveled down in search of a pumpkin snack. See, he'd ran out the night before, which was almost impossible to fathom, but the impossible seemed to happen from time to time. There had been a massive editing session in his dorm and he'd stress!ate the last one without realizing. Assuming he had spares, it had been quite a shock when Gabe realized he, indeed, had none. Zero.

The withdrawls had set in this morning. So, now he was on the hunt for the kitchen pumpkin stash...and planned to park himself at a table and consume some of the sweet, delicious substance. Maybe with a little bit of ice cream.

Tickling the pear (which was, by far, one of the strangest things he'd done while at this school), Gabe entered the warm space and peered around. Oh! House elves!....Right. He'd...forgotten about them. Naturally, there was some minute panic about them as creatures..and creatures, technically speaking, being animals of SOME sort...but the need for pumpkin outweighed his anxiety concerning that minor detail.

"May I have some....Something pumpkin flavored. Whatever you have is fine." Beggers couldn't be choosers, or whatever that saying was.

It's not often that he gets mad about something but when he does it's best to keep out of his way." Not that he'd harm her or anything like that because he'd never done that. Hady just simply didn't like seeing her father that way was all.

"Well I suppose it wasn't to difficult for them to jump to the conclusion of what they had but it's not like that. Even if it may appear that way at times Zeke and I are just really comfortable around each other which is why we're best friends." See? It was easy to understand really.

Nodding her head Hady glanced towards the timer on the stove to see how much longer they had to wait for the cookies. She didn't want them to burn or anything! "I live in the USA in Long Island actually," she replied. Which was nice when she was home seeing Jaxon only lived down the road from her.

Evie was on a mission! EVERYBODY knew that it was almost Sophie Brown's birthday and Evie, adoring the girl as much as she did, knew she had to do something for her. Naturally, cupcakes were in order. The only problem was... Evie was horrible at baking. Horrible at cooking in general. She could really only make sandwiches, and even then her mum's sandwiches always tasted better. Regardless, she was determined. She didn't want to make the house elves do ALL the work because then it wouldn't really be from HER heart. So, she had to try.

After tickling the pear (quite a fun thing to do), Evie entered the kitchen and peeked around for a recipe book or something. She wasn't quite sure where to start. Her head turned when she heard a familiar voice. It was Gabe, requesting something pumpkin. Oh, it was pumpkin season now, wasn't it? "Make that two, please," she requested to the elves pleasantly.

"Hello, Gabe," she greeted coolly.

At this point, Gabriel couldn't even register surprise. No one was ever truly alone in the Hogwarts castle...were they? Not that he'd came down here to BE alone...because it was a kitchen. Not the most ideal setting if privacy was what he was after.

The Ravenclaw stiffened and blushed accordingly. What? Evie Shacklebolt was STILL a girl...and Gabe would forever blush in their presence.

"Hello, Evie.".......Was she going to lecture him again about his atrocious manners?...because he hadn't eaten anything with a pumpkin in it in over twelve hours and it wasn't the best time.

.....Should he say something else? Was she expecting him to?

Well, that was amusing. Evie had the choice to be mean. She did, and it was very tempting, but she generally wasn't a mean person and probably would regret it (maybe?) later. Also, she really had no reason to be. Gabe hadn't ever done anything to her, he just seemed like person who was very easy to tease. But she kept it to herself.

"Do you have any clue how to make cupcakes?" No need to beat around the bush. Could he be of use or not? Because, as we said, Evie was on a mission and she didn't really have the proper.... equipment to accomplish it on her own.

So, there was no chastising...and Gabe was undoubtedly grateful. Maybe after he got what he'd came for. Maybe then. Though, this didn't change the fact that Evie remained a GIRL. Why he got so hung up on these minor details, he'd never know. Like the blushing...He was STILL blushing. Why?

Shoulders slumping in slight relief, he glanced at her. "If you have a recipe...you can treat it as a potion."

....which was understandable, right? Because...just like a potion, cooking was nothing more than a collection of ingredients and steps. Explanation? Nailed it.

As Hady explained about her father, Lux understood. She knew that a lot of parents could be like that. Some could be really mean though, like Emmy's mom. Emmy didn't really like talking about her mother much, but Lux could remember the things that she had been told... None of them had been good. "I don't get in trouble with my parents much. Maybe because I am the baby. I don't get to do whatever I want, but my sister has said I do." But that had been in regards to last Christmas so Willa could have just been annoyed at the time...

"Zeke is a nice boy." Lux didn't know him too well, but she had talked to him and he was always friendly during those times. Maybe she should hang out with him again some time! That could be fun and maybe they could trade Chocolate Frog cards! "I totally get that. Kace is like my brother and one of my best friends." He was a good friend and never got annoyed with her or anything.

Swinging her legs back and forth a little Hady shifted her attention back towards Lux once more. Being the baby in the family probably had it's advantages but being an only child she really wouldn't know that. "I'm not one to get into 'trouble' really but it's happened." She replied with a tiny innocent grin. Yup no trouble around here. Probably cause she was able to talk her way out of anything especially if it was her father who was handling the situation.

Smiling she nodded her head in agreement. Her bestie was the nicest boy in the whole castle which was why 'HE' was her bestie. Mhmm. "So you do get what I'm saying then about it all since you have a guy best friend as well?" she asked tilting her head slightly. Was this something you'd only understand completely if you had a best friend of the opposite gender?

"Yeah it is. I like it there a lot." Mostly because the forest was right behind her home and that's where she spent nearly all her time.

She wanted to ask him why he blushed so much, but she also refrained from doing that. For now. She might ask later. Evie was a very curious person. Did he know he was doing it? Was it a medical condition? Did people think it was cute? So many questions.

"Okay, problem one: I don't have a recipe." So his advice was only mildly helpful. "I only ever come down here to get already made food, so I don't know where anything is... or if we can use it." She didn't want to invade in the house elve's little territory down here, so...

Hady's innocent grin made Lux laugh. She had a feeling she knew what that was all about. Lux didn't really get into trouble because she was a good girl. She didn't like making her parents mad, and there weren't too many times where that happened. Mostly it was when she stayed up past her bedtime or ate snacks just before dinner. A smile was given at Lux's laughter. She had a feeling the older girl understood what she meant without really having the need to say more on it. Siblings did get into trouble a lot together but she was alone in that area unless she counted Jaxon or her cousins. "Well Jaxon and I tend to get lost a lot when exploring so that usually leads to reminders." She laughed quietly.

With Lux tending to the cookies Hady slipped off her chair and got them two glasses and poured some milk into each. Milk with cookies was a total yes. One couldn't really enjoy cookies without milk to go with them. So she did understand..well sorta. "Well I don't like we like each other like that, we're only friends," she shrugged her shoulders glancing at her older friend. It was all just to confusing.

"Most places are nice but others I'd her not go to them."

Getting lost could be pretty fun when one wasn't alone - sometimes it led to adventures!! When one was alone, it was usually a lot less fun, however. "Exploring is a lot of fun. I'm glad that when I get lost at school, I can use the Point Me spell." That was a lifesaver. Unfortunately she would not be able to use it elsewhere until her next birthday because it would also be a nice tool for camping or hiking! For the moment she just relied on normal compasses for that, or people who were of age already.

Being lost though offers a lot of chance of finding something great so it's not all bad." Like the tunnels and stuff she'd found at home.

"Cookies just aren't the same when there's no milk." It doesn't go down right and your mouth gets all dry. This way was just much better. Hady sipped her milk before nodding in agreement. "Exactly. We're happy being friends and nothing else."

"I haven't been there. Is it nice?"

Yep. Hady totally understood. "I can't wait to be of age so that I can use my wand at home." All she had to do was wait for the very start of June, and she would be 17. It was so exciting. "I haven't really discovered much at home, but I have when out hiking and camping. And of course with the cartography club." First they had found the Chamber of Secrets, then the passageway that led to the outside of their common room. Fun times.

Lux took a sip of her milk. She'd probably have a mustache afterwards and wouldn't that look silly. "They also aren't the same if they're not gooey!" That was the best way to have them. She didn't like hard and crunchy cookies. "Exactly. What has he said about the article?" Juuuuuust curious.

"It's very nice from what I remember. I've lived in London since I was little. I know Canada has good maple syrup!" It was yummy on pancakes.

... Now she wanted pancakes too.

So.... Zander woke up this morning feeling absolutely terrible. And it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he hadn't eaten a proper breakfast. But it did have absolutely everything to do with the events of the previous day. Events which he didn't entirely have full control over, but events that were horrid none the less.

And Zander felt terrible about them.

So absolutely terrible that he had pushed all breakfast thoughts aside and instead went in search of ever single chocolate frog he had left, which was exactly five. There were some pumpkin pasties and canary creams as well, but Zander wasn't exactly sure if Toddles was quite as big of a fan of those particular treats... But either way, Zander grabbed a bag and poured every single treat he had into it.

Five chocolate frogs and a collection of other candies. He was on a mission. A mission to apologize to the house elf that kept stealing his chocolate frogs only a year ago. Oh how the tables turn. And Merlin, he'd take the stealing any day. This guilt business was horrid.

Zander wasted no time at the portrait, tickling the pair right away. Once inside, he maneuvered his way around towards the House Elf Quarters that they had explored with the Headmistress last term. Erm. But it'd be quite rude to just go in, right? And seeing as he was on a great apology mission, being rude wasn't exactly the best approach. So instead he stood quite a bit back and looked around, hoping to maybe catch an elf headed inside or something. "Helloooo?" Anyone home? "Uh, are there any house elves around? I need some help," help was always the magic word around those creatures, apparently.

"Me either! I have a few more years though still." Yeah, like um three and a half years still. Anyhow she couldn't wait and loved the idea of being able to preform magic outside of school. Camping was fun! "I like exploring which is why I joined that club as well last term. The Chamber of Secrets was awesome!" Even if she had hurt her wrist.

Oh yes, Lux was certainly correct on that comment. "Gooey cookies are the best. Nice and soft and all warm..." she grinned nodding in agreement. Just the thought was making her hungry and she was glad they had made the cookies and were now just waiting on them. "Oh well um...he uh actually hadn't even read it. He had spoken to Maggie, she's a housemate of mine and then he came to find me. He had questions about some stuff Maggie had asked him..when I realized it might have had to do with the article I told him of course. But I ended up having to explain it to him..." Hady sighed softly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "All he said was 'Uh-huh. Then he fell silent a few moments later telling me to 'let them think what they want' before saying he had to go talk to a Professor and leaving. Things seem fine in classes and around as we haven't mentioned it again." She didn't want to bring it up again cause then it'd seem like she liked him right?

Hady laughed quietly. Talking about food always made her hungry.

Toddles rans to kitchens. Yes Toddles did. Toddles knows Master Zander was mads at Toddles. Master yells at Toddles. Toddles no likey's yellings. No Toddles don't. Toddles goes into beds yes Toddles does. Toddles sleepies bits. Yes Toddles does. As Toddles sleepies he hears Master Zander calls out. Toddles ears perk up and gets up yes Toddles does. Toddles serves studenties and does job. Toddles comes out and moves his little feetsies. Toddles sees Master Zander with candies. Yes Toddles does.

Toddles eyes gets bigs from candies. Toddles lovvvveesss candies. Toddles sees chocolate frogs and gets happies. Yes Toddles does. "Is Master Zander still mads at Toddles?" Toddles asks with big brown eyes.

The Gryffindor was just about to give up hope too. Maybe the Elves just weren't around today? It wasn’t the ideal scenario, but he could pop in at some other point? They’d have to be there at some point throughout the day and Zander wasn’t going to quit until he got ahold of one of them. And really, how hard could it be to find a House Elf?

Apparently not that hard at all, actually. Looks like ‘help’ really was the magic word after all! Zander was COMPLETELY relieved and that much probably showed up on his face as he saw Toddles appear out of no where. Not really out of no where… But well, you know…. Anyways. He gave the House Elf a big, apologetic kind of smile as the little creature approached. His face sort of fell when the Elf began to speak, however, and he gave Toddles a shake of the head. ”No Toddles, Ma—I’m not mad at you,” he spoke softly. ”I didn’t mean to yell at you in the Common Room… I wasn’t mad… I just… Um…” Took an anger potion and was full of angst and was not in control of any emotions and yeeaaaaaah. ”I had just taken an ‘Anger’ Potion for homework…. And I’m real sorry for you know… For yelling at you, Toddles.”

Man. Apologies were hard. Where were the words?

”I brought you some chocolates though?” Oh yeah and one more thing, ”You haven’t got to call me ‘Master’ either, Toddles. ‘Cause we’re friends…. We’re still friends, right?” The Gryffindor raised a brow, hoping that Toddles would say yes. If someone had asked him this time last term, Zander would say that Toddles was one of his arch enemies. But honestly, the Gryffindor had grown fond of the elf. Plus, if Toddles agreed to being friends then it meant that he accepted Zander’s apology and well, that’s all that he needed at the moment.

So... What do you say, Toddles? Friends?

Toddles hears Master Zanders apologies to lil Toddles. Toddles likes apologies. Toddles is glads Master is not mads. Not mads at all. Toddles stares down at feets and looks ups with his big brown eyes. Toddles earsies perks up and Master brought Toddles chocolates? Toddles beams. Yes Toddles does. "Master is too kind to Toddles.." Toddles tears up. "Master Zander is Toddles friend. Yes Toddles is." Toddles beams and take chocolates and brings to his beds. Toddles comes back and bring Master Zander something.

"Toddles gives Master somethings.." Toddles shows Master Zander a chocolate frog card he stoles. Yes he does.

Lux nodded as Hady said that she had a few more years left. "I can't wait to graduate." It was so exciting, and time needed to go by a lot faster. Too bad she couldn't have a time-turner because it could come to good use. "The Cartography Club is awesome. I want to go to more meetings." Exploring was lots of fun and distracted her from sads.

"I want to graduate and then in a way I don't," she replied with a small shrug. It was conflicting really how she felt about growing up. The idea of being able to preform magic outside of school was awesome and moving on with her life to do the career she wanted was good too. Yet at the same time she didn't want to leave this place. She had years to go though still so there wasn't a point in getting upset about it now. "Yeah, I'd go to more meetings if we had them."

Taking a nice warm cookie Hady broke it in half and dipped a piece into her glass of mil before taking a bite, chewing and then swallowing it. Mmmmm that was some good stuff! Nodding her head she had to agree with her older friend. "I love them too their so sweet and helpful. How some people can mistreat them I just don't understand." The house elves were seriously all types of epic!

Was it good? She guessed in a sense it was since he hadn't freaked out and refused to talk to her anymore. Plus they were still best friends. "Yeah, he's awesome. Maggie I basically know since we're dorm mates." Mhmm. Yep. That was it. She wasn't exactly close with any of her housemates honestly which in fact was slightly depressing when she thought about it.
