The classroom is set up neatly, with three rows of desks and chairs and two aisle allowing for ease when the Professor has to move around. It's not likely to happen given his inclination towards a more stationary position but there you have it.
The door stands wide open for everyone to pour in with a clock on the far wall directly opposite this door for those who would like to make a note of the time they got there. It's also for those who happen to be late. The Professor surely won't have to tell you if you can see it for yourself.
For the most part, nothing seems out of place. The board is empty and ready for any notes that you may need to take during the lesson and the windows have been opened wide creating a brighter effect in order to provide a gentler waker upper than the one the Professor could ever personally offer to those who still haven't quite left their beds in their own minds. The only thing missing would be the Professor himself. The man is nowhere to be seen, however there's a black cat curled up on a random desk, possibly lost to the world in sleep. Come on in. The Professor is around here somewhere.
The cat can be on anyone's desk, you can just claim it is at the top of your post if you so want. It's probably really friendly! Just be sure you read the rules before posting in this lesson. I'll be officially starting in maybe 10-12 hrs?
Angel looked at her wand and smiled, she was totally looking forwards to learning this spell because it could be useful for other occasions. "Dimuendo!" Angel smiled as she concentrated hard and focused her thoughts, she really wanted to succeed with this spell.
Angel put her wand straight before she did the wand movement and she made sure it was correct, she concentrated really hard on the Jar, hoping and praying that something would happen... she smiled when the Jar shrunk... this spell was amazing and she wouldn't if she could use it on other things.

He had already decreased the size of his jar, but people around him were still practicing, and Dima didn't know if the class was nearing a new activity. Might as well cast some more.
Pointing his wand at the considerably smaller jar once more, he spoke the incantation. "Diminuendo!" Easy peasy, right? Only problem was that he'd been so confident about knowing the spell, he hadn't been concentrating very hard on keeping the change steady. Which made all the difference, apparently, because Dima's jar had practically disappeared.
"Uh....." He felt around the desk for it, but it WASN'T THERE. What if it dropped and broke? What if someone got cut or hurt or they needed the jar later in the lesson?! What if he was going to lose points because he couldn't continue?!?! The third year was overreacting a little, but this was NOT good.
So. "Does anyone know where my jar is? I can't see it. Don't take your shoes off!!! Or touch ANYTHING." This was a safety hazard.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
"Diminuedo! Diminuedo!" Kevin tried again and again but the jar wouldn't shrink. At one point , it did shrink a bit but then it changed back to its normal size. The Gryffindor looked at his wand and sighed. Having one of the strongests wand cores yet one of the most difficult wasn't as cool as he thought it was when he first gotten it at Ollivanders and the shopkeeper had told him this.
Trying again, Kevin pointed his wand at the jar, took a deep breath and shouted "DIMINUEDO!"
-BANG-
The boy blinked as the jar vanished completely with a loud bang. There weren't even pieces of broken glass on his desk. The thing had completely been destroyed and vanished. "I'm ready!" what? he never said HOW far the jar should shrink right?

See they both agreed. Great minds think alike. And there was no doubt about it that her and Zeke were great minds. Grinning at him she nodded her head. So many ideas on how to use this charm were running through her head.
Hady shifted her gaze around the room to make sure the Professor had t moved on with the lesson yet before she turned her eyes back to her buddy. As her eyes landed on him she noticed him biting his lip, it looked like he was trying not to laugh and that made her smile. Of course I trust you. You're one of like four people I trust beside the Professors." She assured him grinning brightly. The other three people weren't here so that was certainly saying something!

Which could have easily meant that the word had a certain charm to it, even if it was a bit of a stretch. Kyroh would have pointed BOTH of these facts out if....Quigley hadn't taken points...and given him detention?
...
The loud sound of glass crashing to the ground brought him out of his daze and Kyroh's eyes flickered to Toby for a second.
....He had never gotten detention before. The one time he had come close Flamsteed had said he was joking and then let him sit in his spinny chair because he made him cry. But Kyroh was not going to let Quigley make him cry. Especially since everything was HIS fault for calling him out and trying to embarrass him.
He really ought to pick on someone his own size.
Eyes falling to the parchment in front of him he was momentarily in his own world until the chair shuffling brought him out of it. Gabe. Bay's boyfriend. His prefect. He wasn't even sure if Gabe was even his friend. Catching sight of the other boy made Kyroh sink down in his seat. Obviously he was only here because he thought he'd lose more points for Ravenclaw. "I'm not doing it."
"Just to spite him?"...or did Kyroh just really not want to do it? Gabe watched him for a moment before focusing back on his jar. The Professor hadn't said anything against sharing...
So.
"This could be on your OWLs in a couple of years."...which wasn't a lie. It very well could've been. "So, if you change your mind...about participating..." Gabe would show him the charm...and he could even practice on his jar, if Kyroh wanted to. As he'd mentioned, it wasn't that difficult. Seemed a waste not to at least try it....Just Gabe's opinion, of course.
And.......to be honest, Gabriel cared nothing about points. He cared about learning...and people not bullying other people. That was about it.
And about the jar..."Diminuendo."Point!

To spite him? YEAH! Though....now that he thought about it, him not learning the spell would not effect the Professor in any way. But he just really didn't want to give the man the satisfaction of seeing him do it.
Looking over at Gabe he nodded slowly. The Prefect probably thought he just wanted to cause more trouble or anything. "Alright." Because OWL's could be important. But also....he didn't really want to miss another year of Charms class. Even if the Professor was just as bad as the last one. "But you don't have to stay here if you don't want to. I'm not going to throw the jar or anything." Wasn't like he was TRYING to get in trouble.
Pulling his glass closer he pointed to the jar. "Scourgify". All clean now obviously. Still holding his wand he softly began to practice the incantation. "Diminuendo. Dee-Di-min-u-en-do. Diminuendo."
He glanced at Gabe for a second before pointing his wand at his own jar. "Diminuendo!"

Abby had practiced the wand movement so many times and she said "Scourgify" and made sure that her jar was super clean because she wanted to get this perfect but she was a bit scared and she saw one of her fellow ravenclaws looking about for his jar in a panic and she thought probably used the wrong spell and she was not sure if she was ready to perform the spell yet

Apparently it was something to do with his wand, made him a fast learner or something of a sorts. Not so much for transfiguration, but definitely charms.
Zeke beamed at the first year, nodding is approval as she repeated after him. She was doing well.
"Go for it," he encouraged when she stated she was ready - because he was sure she was, and even if she didn't get it this time round, practice made progress.
He watched with great anticipation and sure enough THE JAR WAS SHRINKING!!!! "You're doing it! You did it!" he exclaimed, giving her a light pat on the back. Seeeee, it wasn't so hard. "You'll be the one showing me how to do charms in no time." This was always a likely possibility with Ravenclaw's... super smart they were, usually ahead of the game.
Kate could hear Zeke's encouraging words, but she kept her eyes tightly closed until she got an official word from him. This was her very first charm to try, and if she got it right, it'd be her first to officially cast correctly. There was a lot at stake here! Slowly, she opened one eye, looking around for the jar. She didn't see it with just one eye open, so she slowly opened the other one, too.
"I did it!" she repeated, but with a little more excitement. "Zeke, that's my first charm to cast correctly!" She looked from Zeke to the jar. "Look how little!" She couldn't quit talking with such excitement, because this WAS exciting! She looked at him and shook her head. "I don't about that. You seem pretty good at charm casting yourself."
Zeke must have seen somebody he knew then, because he turned to talk to a Slytherin girl. Kate turned back to her jar and picked it up, admiring her work.
Already set up for victory, Norah eyed the jar with her wand pointing steadily at it. Third time's the charm, y'know, and she was a THIRD year so it was all meant to be. "Dimuendo!" She grinned triumphantly as the charm finally worked all the way, shrinking the already smaller jar down to half its size. She cast the charm again with a second cry of "Dimuendo!" and began to giggle at the ickle jar baby that remained on her desk. "Hiii jar baby." She picked up the little jar and held it up to her eye to inspect it. It wasn't deformed or ANYTHING. She was SO good okay, SO. GOOD.
It was with great pride that Norah put her little jar baby on her thumb and used it as a glass thumb hat. Perfect. AND it made her glitter nail polish look even MORE glittery. Hehheh. She grinned excitedly around the room, wondering if anybody would notice.

Abby thought may as well get moving and get the spell done and she pointed her wand at the jar and said "Diminuendo" and before Abby's eyes her jar had shrunk and she placed her wand down on her table so that she was ready for the next stage of the lesson
Eden had the saying...down. And the wand movement. She smirked as she glanced at her jar. She had eaten a good bit of her apple by now. Delicious. Mhmm. But anyways.
Jar.
Shrinking.
Whooh.
She tapped her wand at the edge of her desk for warm up and cleared her throat. "Diminuendo!" she said softly, pointing her wand at the jar. The little blast of light did hit it--but the jar only shrank.....slightly.
How...anticlimactic.
She sighed and rubbed her forehead. SHe probably just needed to say it with a bit more....UUUMMPH. Like..feeling, emotion, and with...confidence. So she cleared her throat once more and said, strongly, "Diminuendo!" The jar began to shrink rapidly--and Eden grinned to herself as the spell did it's job correctly.
Well, not too shabby, McGee.

Eventlessly, Cutty had gotten up and taken one of the jars from the desk, took it back to his desk and scourgified it. He'd gotten so used to performing cleaning spells in Potions class that it felt almost effortless. He resumed his seat and placed the jar before him, scourgifying the outside to remove his fingerprints.
"Diminuendo." His eye floated casually toward the apple Professor Quigley had given to Eden. "Diminuendo." And his paranoid Slytherin brain began to wonder...."Dimin-yoo-endo."
The Professor was still watching to be sure everyone else was getting on fine with the wand movement now that he'd corrected when he heard another question. "This charm, like most all others does not last forever on it's own. If you want prolonged and sustained use you would have to be casting periodically. How powerful the cast is determines how long the spell lasts before needing to be renewed."
Something the man who'd placed stunning spells on his Nundu should have remembered. Oh well.
What she had thought to be the answer, but always better to check with the professional first. "Thank you, Professor."She quietly wondered if she could trust him with her idea, perhaps he would be getting an office visit soon yet the decision was not entirely made.
Shrinking jars...could the actual stuff pretty please be more exciting than that? Like Abbi had no problem practicing on jars but you know she was hoping it be something more real, like some sort of animal or such. Fingers crossed it may just still be that animal.
After she had positioned her jar, Abbi placed herself half a stride away from the jar. It was enough distance not to be directly at the jar, but not to be too farther backwards either. It was, in other words, perfect.
"Di-min-u-en-do," she said loudly and stared at the jar that did absolutely nothing. Ahem...nobody saw that.
She attempted again, "Di-min-u-en-do." This time she had just a tad more luck as she could see the jaw shrink-or well maybe only by an inch, if you could even call it that.

Kyroh was being straight up crazy. Straight. Crazy. Pants. It was actually really disturbing, because on the whole, Kyroh was the least likely person to fly off the handle. It was like sulking Dima. Also disturbing.
And it hurt her a little bit. Should she go over and hold hands with them to make it better? Kyroh got a bitty finger wave, just to see if he needed her.
But NO. No, she was meant to be doing the spell right now. Diminuendo. That spell. Dot pointed her wand at the jar and focused on making it SMALL. LITTLER. Like Dot. OH MAYBE Dot was Diminuendo'd when she was a baby! "Diminuendo." Wand point and spell cast and... it worked! Huzzah.
Dot scooped up her little jar and placed it on her head. And then on her shoulder. And then put her hand inside the itty little thing, where it promptly got stuck. Umm... "Help, please, okay?"

Zander was still looking around at everyone else... He didn't really want to help with the charm casting stuff because really, he wasn't all too great at charms. SEE, that is exactly why he needs to get on the Caretakers good side. So the man could pass down all the good information to the real Professor so that he'd be in the good books. And then VOILA! Except really, he was still a dimwit.
But turning his head, he heard someone asking for help and oh. It was the little girl who hung out with Kyroh sometimes. Speaking of Kyroh, did the little guy just have a vendetta against Charms Professors or something? Ahem. Anyways. Back to the little Slytherin one. Getting out of his seat, Zander walked towards her and held out his hand. "I can try to pull it off, yeah?" See, he was trying to be a good prefect here, people.

Bianca siiiiighed. She went up to get a jar and easily got the jar clean with a simple scourgify. Honestly, this charm was one of the easy ones. After all, she'd used this one at least a dozen times a week making sure her shoes remained perfectly clean and the whatnot. Though the elves could do it, so maybe she'd stop.
She then tossed the jar from hand to hand. Not exactly wanting to do the exercise. Bianca then placed the jar on the desk and stared at it. She pointed her wand at the jar and used it to nudge the thing ever so slightly forward.
Point and use the incantation. Simple. Easy peasy. "Diminuendo."POOOOINNNNT.
Why wasn't it doing anything? Uhm... hello, jar? Do your job and shrink.

.
.
Wait. Really? Kyroh was listening to him?
Uhhhh....!!
Nervously smiling just a little, STILL not something he did a lot of, Gabriel glanced between his and Kyroh's jars. Kyroh had a lot of natural ability, clearly...because he'd nearly gotten the jar fully shrank on the first go. It made Gabe feel a little smug....Just A LITTLE, though...because natural ability could really only take you so far. The rest was, of course, very important, like studying theories and understanding the spells to their full potential. Not understanding magic could make it dangerous. It was all very tedious, though; the studying bit.
"Good job." Nod. Really.
Refocusing on own jar, Gabe preformed the spell again...hoping to shrink his further. He didn't know if he could...after initially shrinking it...but why not try? For science!"Diminuendo."
.
.
...and he'd heard Dot asking for help, but Zander had wandered over. So, she'd be in good hands, right?

More practice was needed, definitely to get it completely small because now it was just becoming an embarrassment. Abbi repositioned herself a little closer hoping that would possibly help some, cause what else could? Maybe more concentration...yeah okay she'd give that a try too.
"Di-min-u-en-do!" she put more emphasis than before as she pointed her wand to the jar.

It was time to try again and Janelle was determined to get it right. If determination had anything to do with success, she'd be in good shape. Unfortunately, that was only a part of whole process. Janelle took a few moments to concentrate and focus her mind. Again she thought about what she wanted to happen to the jar. This time though, she tried to picture it happening in her mind. When the picture was clear, she felt ready to begin.
Janelle pointed her wand at the jar and took a deep breath. "Diminuendo", she said. All the while, she tried to keep her focus and project her intent from her brain to her wand. Janelle allowed her eyes to remain on the jar and.........she did it! The jar was smaller! It probably wasn't as small as it could have been or should, but it was definitely smaller. Whooohooo! Janelle almost did a victory dance, but she was not done yet. She could do better and she knew it so more practice could only help her. Time to do it again.

Taking out her wand she said "Diminuendo" and watched her medium sized jar transform into a tiny jar. Her mouth hung open. No way..... if cleaning her jar shocked her this totally just blew her mind. Picking it up immediately she turned it over and started to stare at it. "WOW..... its so cute and tiny!! do you think we get to keep them?" she hoped so a trophy for her first real stab at magic.
Echo was so excited and it reminded Lux of herself because she got hyper about things too.
Impressed, she applauded as her friend managed to make her jar smaller. "Great job!" Now they both had tiny jars and yeah, they were adorable that was for sure. "I'm not positive, but I hope so! I'd love to try this spell out on everything!" Well, anything of hers that wasn't already super small to begin with since she wouldn't want it becoming so tiny that she couldn't even see it.
Excited about how well she did on her first casting, Lux reverted her jar back to regular size so that she could do the spell again. Pointing at it with her wand, she called out, "Diminuendo!" Hehe, back to having a tiny jar again.

Bleu had nothing else to shrink...she could shrink a piece of paper if she wanted to but decided to watch as everyone else practiced. She pulled out a piece of parchment and continued to practice shrinking. "Diminuendo." She said as she pointed at the parchment, that now looked like a small piece of confetti. Man she was good.
"Does anyone need help?" She asked. She didn't just want to sit there while everyone else was helping the firsties.

This time she would get it to be the perfect size, she was sure of it. Her focus level, as difficult as it was for her, became stronger than usual and it felt sort of strange for her. Usually distractions had her within a woosh, but she was learning control. This was good.
Okay, after flexing her fingers she held her wand in her left hand, leftie over here and then performed the charm once more. "Di-min-u-en-do!" she loudly called out and kept her gaze at the jar.
YES YES YES.
It shrank and shrank and STILL shrank, no stopping this time; not till it was a good size, around the size of a gluestick. She was pleased. You just got OWNED, jar, by the Abster. Be scared yoh!

Was the Ravenclaw going to sit there and sulk for the rest of the session? In truth the answer was all the same to him. You could take an abraxan to the edge of a cliff but you couldn't force it to fly. He did note the Prefect moving over and offering some assistance. Good on him but the Professor wouldn't going to beg the boy to learn. It wasn't his decision and it didn't affect him personally.

Maddox inspected the jar for a moment, considering the original size against the size it now was. Finally, careful consideration, he gave a nod. "Very good Miss Rush. That size will do." The size didn't matter so much really, just that they got the spell right while they still had the luxury of being wrong. Of course she wouldn't know that so he'd keep it simple. The jar was a decent size.

TWITCH.
What was it with Ravenclaws today??? Had they planned a secret meeting to sabotage his class by any means necessary?? At first, Maddox just stared at Mister Toussaint, hoping to Merlin the boy was joking but it quickly became evident that he wasn't. The Professor took a deep breath, willing himself to remain calm because a more excitable reaction would benefit no one.
"You lost your jar?" Still somewhat calm, just asking. Today was NOT his day. "I recommend 'finite'. Keep casting until your jar reappears." Because they didn't have the time to wait for it to return to normal on its own. The next activity would be starting. See? He was CALM.

And then this one happened again. You could have sworn that the first rule on the list wasn't 'absolutely NO loud noises' with the way this one had just outright shouted in his class which was followed immediately by an even LOUDER bang that sent his sensitive ears ringing in a similar fashion to that of the feast where Airey had gotten shrill.

"And another 5 points from Gryffindor Mister Hirase." It was lucky the jar had vanished and not exploded because that could have injured several of the students and would you know it the Professor would have to do something about it. He should have taken another set of points for that but no. "I will implore you to re-read the classroom rules the moment you leave this lesson. I won't tolerate you much longer." Scowl. "You will need another jar."
Ears still ringing...ears still very much ringing. Oww.

How could Margo possibly concentrate any harder than she already was. If this was only about focus and concentration then Margo was in some big trouble. If she focused any harder she would blow an aneurysm.
Looking around at some class mates, as they achieved their goals of shrinking the jars and Margo had yet to do anything, she didn't count the last time, she couldn't even be sure that it had actually happened.
"Diminuedo" Margo said again giving her wand a jab forward just like she was suppose to. And again, Margo saw the jar start shrinking!
"Oh my goodness!!! Look!!!" Margo said smiling and turning around to see if anyone was watching. She was so excited, but by the time she turned back around the jar was completely back to normal again. "Oh man! I swear it worked!" Margo said out loud.

Getting out of his seat, Zander walked towards her and held out his hand. "I can try to pull it off, yeah?" See, he was trying to be a good prefect here, people.
Oh, a PREFECT was helping her. Kind of cute one too. Thank Merlin for that, because it would have been lame if she'd have to spend the rest of the class waving a tiny bottle around on her hand. Or what if she had to wear it the rest of her life? That would be so embarrassing!
"Thanks. Just give it a tug, which I can't do 'cause I don't have two hands. Or I do have two hands, but obviously one of them is stuck in a jar." She offered him the jar!hand. She was basically holding hands with a prefect. Cute one. Did this count?
