The Snakes, reigning Quidditch Cup champions and second-place House and Gobstones Cup finishers, sit under a slightly frayed green and silver banner representing their house. However, the table is no longer in need of a polish and the place settings have returned to Hogwarts' traditional REAL silver silverware and heavy plates and goblets. Enjoy the much improved food!
"Oh, Beauxbaton. My father wanted to send me to a school like that in Canada, but my mum won that battle." The boy seemed rather unperturbed by the implication of having been unshowered. "That sounds about right."
"No." He answered Józsua's question about having lost something with non-chalance. Cutty shook his head wearing a smile that gave his head the appearance of a monkeys head with his large ears. "So why did you transfer here?" He asked curiously.
Soo.. Józsua's assessment that the kids of Hogwarts were different was accurate. He could say hand on heart that he had never met anyone quite like the small boy sitting beside him. The accent was strange and the cleanliness was.. off..
Sending him off to a school in Canada implied that the family had money, however, which came as a surprise to Józsua. “Oh? Why Canada?” He asked with growing interest. The temptation to make a polite excuse and get up and move was lessening a little.
But.. bits falling off the boy.. or whatever just happened made that temptation come back like a tidal wave. “A-are you sure?” He murmured, trying not to show his disgust while his eyes scanned the floor to see if he could see what it was. Euh.
He shrugged his shoulders. Why he had transferred here was for selfish, impulsive reasons which hadn't been properly thought through, but he would never admit to anyone that he was already missing his friends, particularly Chester, at Beaux. “My Aunt lives here. She said I could come and live with her. Couldn't pass up a Summer in London.” Because, lets face it, London was a pretty cool place.
“What's your name?” He asked the small boy.

Then it clicked. She had seen him while she was lost shopping for books. Him, yup. No doubt. "Hi, there," She said to him with a smile. Did he remember seeing her there? He might not. So she didn't want to sound like a creeper. "I'm Cassia, welcome to Slytherin." Wlecoming the new kids like she always did.
Oh, hey, there was that girl from the bookshop.
Grateful for some company of his own age, Józsua. gave the girl a smile. “Cassia.” He replied. “I remember you. Fleeting meeting in the bookshop?” Orrr.. he hoped it was her otherwise he'd look like a total fool.
“Thanks. Nice to actually know one of the faces here.” He said genuinely.
Oh right, his name. "I'm Józsua."*smile*

More attention. Not that Józsua was complaining. It was nice to have company other than dirty first years. This girl was older and.. he eyed the badge even before she introduced herself--the Head Girl. He'd noted the Head Boy over at the yellow table so it was nice to see one of the leaders in his own house.
Cute.. wave? *eyebrow raise*
“Thanks.” He replied. “It's nice to meet you, Katrina. I'm Józsua.” And oh so obviously a new kid here..

He returned the nod, making a mental note to speak to the boy later—there was plenty of time for introductions after the feast in the common room or whatever, which he was eager to see. After food. And that always left the young Slytherin feeling rather awkward.
Oh oh, another mini student.
This one looked a little older than the two boys, but still young enough for Józsua to wonder if he had a neon sign above his head saying 'friendly, sociable, new guy. Likes small children! Come and talk to me!'
Yea.... no.
But he was going to be friendly, yea?
“Thanks.” He replied. “I'm Józsua. It's nice to meet you.”
And a handshake? This one was polite and clean looking. He shook her hand and gave her a smile. “You're new too?”
She hadn't even noticed this first year arrive, but she already thought he was obnoxious. Still she'd give him a chance...
It was probably just that he was hungry.
"Um... after the sorting is over" she offered, cocking her head to the side to offer that it seemed to her to be the most obvious thing in the world. "Welcome to Slytherin" she added, trying to make it obvious that she didn't mean to seem arrogant.
"I'm Kahlan, what's your name?" the Irish girl concluded, a small smile on her face.
He wasn't sure, but was she giving him attitude? That's what Bridge always did when he did something stupid. She'd tilt her head and look at him with those big brown eyes of hers. Merlin, it annoyed him. But this chick, she was probably seizing him up. That's what people did to newbies, right?
Okaaay.
He cracked a smile when she greeted him. "Thank you. I've always wanted to be in this house." And Gryffindor, but Slytherin suited him most. He stretched his hand toward Kahlan. "Lucian Blackwell. Nice meeting you." So...this was making friends, right?

But then she heard a voice she didn't knew and looked besides her and saw... somebody she didn't knew? Oh, who was that? Curious who the other student was she walked toward him and greeted him. "Hey! Who are you? and... The food will probably arrive in a few minutes, when all the official and boring stuff is done..." and than she offered the boy her hand. "I'm Sonea Duvessa" she eyed the boy and wondered if he would be a good Slytherin.
His stomach did a little rumbling sound and he patted it as if taming it. He was starting to wonder if he stared at a plate long enough food would suddenly sprout out of it. No such luck, but there was someone speaking to him. "Me? I'm Lucian Blackwell, official first year Slytherin," he said, his chest puffing out. Yeah, pride. He had that.
Then she gave him answers. Fi-na-lly. "Oh, so we have to wait until then?" he complained. There were still students getting sorted. "Does it take long?" he asked. Couldn't the unsorted sit and wait until they ate? It sounded like a great idea.
He shook her hand and eyed her back. Was she seizing him up too? "What year are you?" he asked out of curiosity. As for her house she was obviously a Slytherin. Her robes said so unless she stole them from a snake's back.

And BOOM!applause from Kat because he got sorted into Slytherin. AWH YEAH. She was right from the very begin!
"Well, don't you look familiar?" Kat said and winked at him. Remember her? Do you? Hmmmmmmm? He better remember her. She was legen - wait for iiiiiiit - dary!
It wasn't strange that his blue eyes scanned the tables for Miss Blondie, he told himself. She'd been nice to him at the festival. So nice as to let him drink from her lemonade. Also, she would probably be the only person he recognized.
Then he heard a familiar voice and he knew it had to be her. Lucian didn't know anybody else here. "Do I?" he said, casually sitting next to her. "I sure hope so." He smiled, but the glint of the candles reflected on something on her robes. "What is that?" he asked. Shiny.
Nicci did not know what was the matter with all the people here yet they looked like they liked to be loud, lived loud and was apparently numb to the annoyance of it. She watched a few as they performed the most unnecessary behaviour she had ever seen around the tables. The blonde girl supposed it would be, at a point, fun to teach those the ways of proper behaviour and the lessons would of course involve pain.
Pain was a good teacher and such people only learned via it anyway.
Just when she was looking around, her icy blue eyes caught the sight of a boy nodding at her. She raised her eyebrows and stared back at her with the usual expression she wore; once that showed no emotion. She watched carefully until he got closer and spoke. She stared for one more moment in silence with a cold air before a small smile appeared on her lips. ''My, my, my...'' she said the smile growing bigger and turning into a smirk. She reached to his face with an elegant finger and ran it down his cheek. ''...are not you sweet?''
[/COLOR]
This girl, like it seemed the trend with all girls at this school, was strikingly beautiful, but there was a sort of calculated coldness to her. S'not that he minded, it was really nice to look at, yeah? Just something he had noted.
But this was sort of unusual, yeah? Most girls at school responded to him pretty quickly 'cause he was attractive and all that, but she was taking her good, old sweet time. So when she finally did seem to give him some sort of hint that she was listening, which happened to be a slow smile, he felt his job was done. Smirk.
He was wrong though because before he knew it this new girl was running her finger down his cheek and was REALLY close to his face. Yeah, real close.
Clearing his throat, he kept his cool and slowly tried to pull his face away from hers, "So I've been told, beautiful." He stole a glance at the Gryffindor table. He was dead.

She thought of asking him about his summer but he didn't talk about it back at the train, perhaps it was personal.. She just grinned at his wink. One day, she'd find out if there was anything in common to talk about.
Ascanius liked Cassia, he noted in his head. There was something about her that was really sincere and stuff, yeah? Like she never really questioned him or did anything about his behaviour in relation to talking, which was nice. He wasn't a man of many words 'cause the ones who were always talked to much and bored people. Pfft. Girly!boys as he liked to stamp them. People like Tag.
So yeah, he just kept his opinions to himself most times and smirked. Keep it to compliments and most people never really got bothered with you. 'Cept Cassia didn't really seem to get bothered with people in general.
[Kahlan]
Cutty could see another small snake sociably slithering over to him. Yes, it was only a matter of time before the witches came flocking to him was the thought that occurred to him. He avoided eye-contact so that she wouldn't think he was watching, and in the time it took her to approach he'd taken out a minty sweet he'd smuggled onto the boat ride and tossed it into his mouth. Then she took a seat and it was safe to acknowledge her.
"Hi, Kahlan. I'm Cutty Mordaunt." What did people usually follow that with? Oh yeah! "Nice to meet you."
Cutty paused for a moment before going on. For bluntness or delicacy he simply obeyed his curiousity. "Are you new to the school or what? I didn't see you at the wrinkly hat."
[Sophie]
Cutty could see that from the looks she was exchanging with the boy who must have been her brother, Sophie couldn't believe him. For reasons he seriously misinterpreted. "Aww, it's alright, Loov. I forgive you." Cutty's tone was very straight, as though he were being serious.
He sat up very erectly when she mentioned his name. "It's an English name, So-pheeet in yer pipe and smoke eet!" He said, exaggerating the pronunciation of her name and tagging a line to the end of it in effort to try to make it sound as if it were as funny as his own.
[Kat]
Cutty perked up at hearing about the other Mordaunt student. But, he couldn't recall any of his dad's relatives living near...Oh, Merlin! Had his dad been...! Ack!
Just as Cutty wished for a vat of acid with which to wash his thoughts of his dad his stomach gave a loud rumble. Not one to waste an opportunity, Cutty threw an arm around his middle, did his best to look fatigued and leaned towards Prefect Katrina pathetically.
[noodles]
"Canada because that's where my dad is from. He went to school there and he said if he got me in the divorce I could go to his old school. But my mam got me and she lives here." He spoke it all quite matter of factly, as if it didn't bother him. Or maybe he was putting on a brave front.
Cutty gave a quick, subtle nod in reply to Józsua's question. "Yeah. Pretty sure." Cutty took a look around just in case it had been his wand or perhaps a tiny bit of smuggled sweet, but he didn't see anything. "Quite sure."
"Cutty Mordaunt. What's yours?" He asked expecting to hear something very exotic from the Riviera man.

He didn't have a trace of a French or Hungarian accent despite being able to speak the languages fluently. He had picked up a strange American/British/European mix from the different places he had lived throughout his childhood.
He eyed the boy for a moment. “Soo.. Somewhere between you and me would probably be socially acceptable around here?” Because, lets face it, this kid could do with a bath. And.. did something just fall out of the kid's hair or his hand? Uugh.. It made the OCD hairs prick up on the back of Józsua's neck.
“You..” Er.. “Did you just drop something?”
Dirty abrupt first years. This was not what he had anticipated for the feast.
This other boy was rather different and Józsua gave him a small, genuine smile. “Were you hoping for Slytherin?” He asked trying to make conversation.
The accent. He supposed he would get lots of comments on it while he was at the school. “Thanks.” He replied. “I like yours too.” British accents were rather interesting with all the regional dialects and such. Józsua thought his own quite bland and boring in comparison.
“I'm Józsua.” He introduced himself to the younger boy.
"Hoping for ANYTHING to be honest," Caleb chuckled. "My family has a good number of Slytherins though, so I thought there was a good chance I'd end up here. Now my sister - I KNEW she'd end up here," he said with a smile. Had he noticed that Caleb had a twin sister who was called after him? Or did he need to explain that? Hmmm...
"I have an accent?" he asked the older boy, wrinkling his eyebrows. It never occurred to him that HE had an accent to foreigners - everyone sounded the same to him! Then again, he hadn't really lived outside of London...ever, so he was sure he was going to hear all sorts of accents all over the place. "Thanks Józsua. Where are you from, Józsua?" he asked, repeating his name and using that clever trick his dad had taught him to remember names by repeating it over and over.

Sophie steered herself in his direction and took a seat. "Caleb--Slytherin! Both of us," she said with a smile. She looked down at the table, wishing the food was already before her. Now that the nervousness associated with sorting was over, she was suddenly hungry. "We should write home and tell Mom and Dad!"
"What do you think DAD will say?" Caleb asked, but even as he spoke, he started to smile. Oh man, Dad was going to freak! In a good way though, he could feel it. "Well, anyways, onto the real important bit - I always knew you'd be Slytherin. But what do you think about ME being a Slytherin?" he asked her with a coy grin. Up until a few moments ago, even HE hadn't been certain he'd end up here.

Sooo, what exactly was she supposed to say now? The girl seemed busy enough, chatting and introducing herself over and over again to all the new Slytherins. Honestly, she felt bad for her. She might as well give her a break.
"Well I'll see you around then," Ariel confirmed with a nod, indicating that the girl could move on elsewhere.
Besides, she was too preoccupied with her hunger to make interesting conversation anyway. WHEN WAS THIS FEAST GOING TO START? ... Had she been five or six years old, Ariel probably would have complained to anybody that could hear her. But no, she was a young lady. So she sat quietly, awaiting the Headmistress' speech.
Everyone? Lucian blinked at the girl. That wasn't the answer he was looking, and he knew he wouldn't be getting an exact one because everyone did say that. Even his mom and dad. He broke out into a smile. "I know, I'm just playing," he said to break the ice. He saw the way she'd frozen. Heh.
He wiggled his eyebrows as if saying: I know, it's obvious, huh. He had a record for being impatient, even the Sorting Hat had just said it. Lucian glanced at the front of the Great Hall where a few more kids were being sorted. Was the hat still put off? That'd be funny.
He turned his eyes back on the girl, then at his hands. Oh, right. He held his hands up, the sleeves drying up little by little. "The squid trying pulling me in. He tried kidnapping me to raise me as his baby squid," he said with the up most seriousness he was sure even his mother would believe him.
She tried not to giggled as the boy wiggled his eyebrows, something that Faylinn wish she could do, but sadly lacked the facial muscles. When she tried her face looks as if she smelled something funky, but at least it wasn't as bad as when she ties to wink...
She studied the boy for a moment after he told her what had happened, "You know... you'd do well as a squid baby..." She could see it. If you squinted your eyes and tilted your head a bit to the right... no left! "Of course with the Slytherin rooms being underneath the lake you should feel right at home..."
Fay pulled out a candy wrapper from her inside cloak pocket and crumpled up. She took aim and flicked it across the table where it hit somebody, but she turned her attention back to the boy before they could take notice "Soooooo," She said brushing her blonde hair out of her face, "What's your name anyways squid boy?"
The boy there was handsome, no doubt, and he looked like he would make a good victim partner for her studies. Even though she found them slightly disturbing now, Nicci would not use choose a girl to help her with her studies. Girls were supposed to handle their own business.
Her icy blue eyes went around to look if there was another boy yet instead another girl took her attention when she greeted her. Nicci supposed she greeted her as she apparently was looking at her. What was the matter with the girl? She stared at her without blinking before smiling a tiny bit. ''Kahlan...'' she repeated the name as if testing if saying it fit her lips properly. ''That's nice.'' She stopped for a moment yet spoke again when she supposed the girl wanted to know her name too. ''I am Nicci''
"That's also a nice name" Kahlan mused after Nicci replied giving her own name... that meant she was doing something right didn't it? Well she was hoping it did anyway. "Welcome to Slytherin I suppose... did you want to get into this house?" she continued, figuring the answer would be a yes.
This girl seemed to fit the usual idea of a Slytherin.
And Kahlan honestly wasn't sure if she was a good thing, because if it was by those thoughts she was sure she'd be a Hufflepuff... though that wouldn't be bad because Forrest was there...

Oh, ...right. She should really try to appear somewhat more approachable. She had no intentions of not getting along with anymore housemates. At least not on her first day. "I'm Sophie Newell," she said, "and thanks. It's the house I was hoping for."
She wanted to get into this house? Kahlan gave the first year a toothy grin as soon as she said that. "Its a great house, I honestly love being in it... even though when I first came to Hogwarts I didn't know where I wanted to be" she admitted musing on her sorting from last year.
"So is there anything your looking forward to about Hogwarts?" she probed, figuring that asking the girl questions might not just get her to open up, but also stop this conversation from reaching an awkward end...

I'm REALLY hungry!" and while she said that she looked at her two rats on her shoulder and grinned. "And... my two rats are also hungry, so i hope that we can start with eating soon!" The third year took a seat next to the other girl and tried to see if all the official and boring stuff was over and that they could start with eating!!!
She grinned, Sonea was thinking the exact same way that Kahlan was at the moment. "Well maybe the house elves are back!" she suggested gleefully, hoping that that was the case.
House elves were amazing cooks.
"I know what you mean, I'm starving! Though I gave Jinx her food before we got off the train so I might give her a little snack before bedtime she mused, thinking about her cat which was probably already in the girls dorm in Slytherin.

Yea.... no.
But he was going to be friendly, yea?
“Thanks.” He replied. “I'm Józsua. It's nice to meet you.”
And a handshake? This one was polite and clean looking. He shook her hand and gave her a smile. “You're new too?”
Internally she was relieved that the older boy also shook hands and sent him a smile "Nice to meet you too" she returned with the same soft smile.
See she was friendly?
And not too hyper usually
Was she new? Nope. "No, I started last year as a first year" she answered with a smile. "But this year it's already looking a lot better than it did last year... and this is only the start of term feast!" she rambled, as she quickly looked down at the real plates.
"So is there any reason your only starting this year? Anything you're looking forward to?" she offered, settling herself back down as she tried to start a proper conversation.

Okaaay.
He cracked a smile when she greeted him. "Thank you. I've always wanted to be in this house." And Gryffindor, but Slytherin suited him most. He stretched his hand toward Kahlan. "Lucian Blackwell. Nice meeting you." So...this was making friends, right?
Ooooh this one shook hands as well, previous assumptions were thrown out of the window as she reached over shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you too" she offered, a smile forming on her face.
She liked this one.
"So anything that you're looking forward to?" she asked, trying to further conversation, a smile on her face...
SPOILER!!: Cutty
[QUOTE=SlytherinSistah;11429577][Kahlan]
"Nice to meet you too" she returned with a smile, though her nose crinkled at the question that the boy asked. Did she look like she was new? I mean yeah she was only a second year but like he said she hadn't been sorted earlier on!
"No... this is my second year at Hogwarts" she offered, though her voice probably gave away that she was slightly unsure of what that question was about. "But it's your first year so is there anything that you aren't sure about? Looking forward to?"
See? She could be helpful! She knew what she was talking about!!!!!!!

"Yeah, I'm super excited! Even MORE excited to be a Slytherin, to be honest!" he said with a toothy grin. He was getting more and more enthusiastic about his house by the minute. He was so happy!!
And this one was also super excited to be Slytherin??? A toothy grin also formed on the blondes face, she definitely liked this one too.
There was no doubt about that.
Any young one that loved Slytherin was what she was looking for and thankfully she’d found a few of those already!
”Yeah... I was also super excited to be coming back...” a small blush crossed her face as she realized that she was admitting to something that seemed to be reserved for first years, but the grin stayed on her face. ”I guess for me the magic just never gets old, even after last year” she absently let slip, not really thinking that the first years wouldn’t know how bad it was last year with the plastic plates and utensils, layers of dust and things that seemed to move but you couldn’t exactly be sure...
Yeah she wouldn’t tell this one those horrible cleaning stories yet, he might end up running away.
”So what are you most excited about?” she asked, a grin on her face as she looked at the boy. It was a hard question she knew, last year she’d had millions of answers that covered every little thing that she’d ever heard about the school – and this year it wasn’t much different.
[Color='RoyalBlue']Noticing a new girl sitting at the table, despite being older than Kahlan was, she blonde beamed at the new girl. In fact, there were lots of new people... which was good for Kahlan... somehow she preferred introducing herself to people she hadn't seen all over the place before.
"Your new aren't you?" she ended up blurting out, rather than asking something less direct. But she knew this girl was new so it seemed a good way to start a conversation. "So are you happy to be at Hogwarts? Anything that you're looking forward to?"
That was better. A lot better... hopefully...
*cloning again*
Adelaide looked away from the group of chattering people she'd been eavesdropping on to the younger girl who had sat next to her. She giggled. "How could you tell?" She stated with a smile. She could use some joking around.
Addi was grinning now, thoughts of being alone gone. "I am ecstatic. I've been trying to come here for four years now!" She bit her lip momentarily before answering her next question. "Mainly just being around other witches and wizards. Muggles get boring after a while."

Food always made people smile and she was right. Kat was always right.
A potential leader, over here. That seemed nice. "It is fun, but there's always duties and responsibilities that come along with them," Kat shared. Two terms of experience, you know. It had molded her into who she was now. "You get to lead your house with a fellow Prefect. That's my favourite part of it all." Except getting to ask students around. I mean, ahem.... nothing. Kat was a good prefect.
Adelaide nodded. She had figured as much. "The work has to be worth it though, right?" She wanted to be reassured that she wasn't only imagining that this was the case. She really wanted it to be true. "It's gotta be nice having younger students look up to you like that. I mean, between you and me, ever taken advantage of that fact?" Addi would never do such a thing, but she was curious.

A blush crossed her face as the older girl giggled at how she'd just blurted out her question, but a small smile quickly grew on her face anyway. "Well... I just kinda guessed" she admitted, shrugging slightly. "I don't exactly know everyone around here but I sorta know peoples faces... I'm Kahlan Moriarty by the way, second year" she continued with a smile.
Trying to get in for four years? The younger girl cocked her head to the side in curiosity. "Trying to get into Hogwarts... I didn't think it'd be that hard honestly..." the blonde replied in disbelief. Then she had to laugh at the idea of muggles getting boring. "I find them interesting to be honest... I'm a pureblood so I never really knew much about them till my brother started dating one so I don't think I could ever get bored of them..."
Nope, she never would...
Or of muggleborns actually... considering they knew so much about muggles!
Her lips curled up in a smile when he told her his name and that he was a Slytherin, not that she was surprised to hear that, he WAS sitting at the Slytherin house table, so you didn't needed to be smart to know that he was one of them. But... where all the first years this small? Had she been so little when she had first entered the school? She didn't remembered it, but she was sure that she had already been better than all the first years who were now here in the great hall, some people were simply better than others, right? She eyed the boy again and wondered if he would win some house points for their house, she hoped it because Slytherin NEEDED TO WIN THE HOUSE CUP this year!
"Yes, we need to wait until every student has been sorted, and than the headmistress will give a speech and hopefully we can eat after that..." The third year old didn't looked really happy about it, she didn't cared about all the other students who would be sorted in another house, and the other houses weren't important at all, only Slytherin was important! Waiting was always boring, so she sighed. "I don't know if it will take long, it's always different" said the third year.
"I'm starting with my third year now" said Sonea proud while she lifted her chin up while she looked down at the younger student. "Can i give you some advice?" She didn't waited for the boy to respond and spoke. "Don't make the same mistakes as i have made and if you have some bad intentions or when you just want to break some rules, try to not get caught and practice to lie so IF you get caught, you can lie to help yourself" So, she had now warned the boy and hoped that he would be smarter than she had been during her first and second year... Because,,, oh she had LOST SO MUCH house points last year!

"Oh yes, i hope it! I don't really hate it to clean something, but to clean all the time and even during the lessons, that was NOT cool!" the third year old thought back at the lessons where they needed to clean the classrooms while they were practicing their spells, and it was HORRIBLE! She hated dirt and spiders, and where dirt was, there were spiders! She shivered while she shook her head, trying to NOT think any longer about dirt and spiders... "It's good that the House elves are back, it's their duty to work and to follow the orders from us!" She hated the elves for electing their duties and she even didn't cared if they had a good reason for it or not! It were slaves and they needed to work for their masters!
"My two rats haven't eaten while i was in the train, but i'm sure that they can wait for a few more minutes" said the third year and stared at the empty plates before her. "Is you cat doing fine?" Asked Sonea, she didn't really liked cats, and the reason was obvious, cats were eating mouses and rats, but she hoped that the cat from Kahlan was NOT eating any rats...

Oh. Haha. Kid's got style. "Nice to meet you," Kat said... but she didn't agree with the 'regular Slytherin' part. "No Slytherin is just 'regular', you know." They were sorted into SLYTHERIN for a lot of good reasons. The Most Noble House of Slytherin, yeah.
"Of course it did," Sophie said with a grin of pride. "Most of family ended up in Slytherin. There's my grandfather and pretty much his entire side of the family, then there's my grandmother who's the Head of House here, and then there's Aunt Sierra, who graduated two years ago." She gave another grin of pride after rattling off her Slytherin family members. Pride. She had it.
Sophie laughed. "I know I'm not regular. I meant it more like, you gave me your title, Head Girl, so I gave you mine," she said with a shrug. "But I know you what you mean. There's greatness here, except, well..." She cast a glance in Cutty's direction but otherwise trailed off with that train of thought.

"For some reason, I didn't think we'd end up in the same house. But I'm glad we did," he added, his voice dropping as he spoke. He didn't want to make it seem like he NEEDED his twin sister there, in case any older kids were listening but...he WAS happy she was there with him. It made everything seem EXCITING rather than SCARY.
"Well, anyways, onto the real important bit - I always knew you'd be Slytherin. But what do you think about ME being a Slytherin?" he asked her with a coy grin. Up until a few moments ago, even HE hadn't been certain he'd end up here.
Despite the fact that everyone Caleb had met so far seemed to be pretty cool, there WAS a dude nearby who seemed to be a bit full of himself. He caught Sophie's glanced and smirked back at her, but suddenly, his tone changed. What had he just called his sister? LOVE? NO ONE TALKED TO SOPHIE LIKE THAT.
"Oi, that's my sister you just called looov, mate," he said, exaggerating the word to try and mimick his accent. Who did this kid think he was? Caleb wasn't all that into breaking rules but he'd break a few bones if he needed to protect Sophie from crazies.
At first, Sophie was annoyed that he tried taking up for her. She could hold her own. She didn't need anybody to go to bat for her. But then, the more she thought about it, the better it seemed to have an ally. "It's okay, Caleb. Cutty can be full of himself all he wants," she said in a challenging way, "but only time will tell if he has anything in him to back up that bark." She grinned slyly then changed the topic back to what Caleb had originally been talking about.
"Dad? Hmm. You know his personality more than I do, I think, but...I'm kind of wanting to say he's not going to be as understanding as Mom is," she answered. "Mom's used to Slytherins. They're all over her side of the family tree, but Dad? He's pre-Lion all the way." She made a face. "I'm just glad I didn't end up there."
"Being in the same house has its good points. You're a good ally, so it makes me feel like I have a little more power to my punch, you know," she answered. "I thought you'd be a Gryffindor, to be honest, but I like you better here. We need more snakes in our immediate family." They were a lot easier to tolerate than Gryffindors, she thought.

"So is there anything your looking forward to about Hogwarts?" she probed, figuring that asking the girl questions might not just get her to open up, but also stop this conversation from reaching an awkward end...
"Yeah, it's full of greatness. Most of my family members were Slytherins, and my grandmother's our Head of House," she answered. Almost as if it was on cue, she cast a glance up to the staff table, seeing basically no familiar faces. There was that Astronomy professor she'd met in Diagon Alley, but other than that, she was at a loss.
Hearing the girl speak again, Sophie turned back to her own house table. "Pretty much everything, although I know that's not very specific. Since I'm a first year, everything's new to me, so it'll be exciting experiencing everything for the first time," she said. "I want to write home to my parents, too. They were both Gryffindors, so this'll come as a surprise. Maybe." At least her dad might be.
While the now third year looked around her, curious if she saw more students who were new she spotted a girl she didn't had saw before. Wondering who she was and if she would be a good Slytherin the third year old walked toward her and stopped besides her. "Hi, i see that you are new here, are you happy to be sorted in Slytherin?" And than she remembered her manners and offered the young girl her hand. "I'm Sonea Duvessa, a third year Slytherin." She smiled friendly toward the younger girl while she waited for a response.

Kat was pretty observant, especially when she engaged into a conversation with someone. She had made a list of all her first impressions of the new students. Sure, they would change once she got to know them more but they were still a big factor. Her first impression for this one was reserved. He didn't seem like a conversationalist.
Yep, totally not a conversationalist at that.
Jozsua. Slytherins had really unique and sometimes even hard to pronounce names. "It's nice to meet you too," she said. "I take you're a transfer... from what school?" Kat was trying to make a conversation, just so she could avoid the awkward aura in the air. She has had enough of that.

Was Lucian looking for someone? Judging by the look of it, he did seem like he was. Addi would never do such a thing, but she was curious.
Worth the stress. Maybe. That depends on how her house mates acted. Slytherin wouldn't be anything with its students, you know. They were the important factor. They acted like the heart of Slytherin; without them, there would be no Slytherin house at all. "It depends on the situation, but usually the hard work does pay off." Kat trusted her Snakes well enough to make sure they snagged the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup AND the title of "Gobstones Champions'. She wanted them to win all three. "It actually is fun to see the students wanting to touch your badge." Take advantage though. Definitely the words of a Slytherin. "...Sometimes." But it was rare. Kat wasn't that kind of a leader unless provoked.

She gave another grin of pride after rattling off her Slytherin family members. Pride.
Kat was able to see the lighter side of the younger girl, but she was somehow still the opposite of the other Newell. Still didn't know if Sophie and Caleb were twins or just relatives. The blonde listened to Sophie as she went on about her family. That sounded too familiar now. Then, she heard the name 'Sierra'. OH, right! "Sierra Greingoth is your aunt?" Instant awesome points. Did she know that Kat looked up to Sierra? No? She should know that soon. And Lafay was her grandmother. "I can see the resemblance. Slytherin pride, you know." Greingoths and their strong determination. No doubt they would all get sorted into Slytherin house.
Yeah, Kat knew that. She did have a title, but that didn't mean they wouldn't all get titles too right? "You can make a name or title for yourself." Did she know what that meant? Participate in class, try out for Quidditch, be the great Slytherin she was. Yeah? Kat was hinting her. They needed great people who can earn precious house points because they had a chance at the House Cup. Kat also saw that glance at the Mordaunt dude though. "And what does he have then?" If not greatness, then he had to have something.

Interesting...
Brits were certainly different from the students at Beauxbatons. It was either that they were more relaxed or less refined. Józsua wasn't quite sure which. He didn't mind either. Change was good. And this was a MASSIVE change.
He decided he would just spend time people watching for now. If anyone spoke to him then, great, but he was quite happy to sit here and observe for now.

This was SLYTHERIN after all. Even though he was beyond excited about his house, they didn't have the nicest reputation...
"Um. Hi. Can I sit here?" Caleb asked, pointing to a sit next to one of the older kids. There weren't many empty seats, so it was this seat, or risk having to STAND or something. Which would be totally embarrassing.

She wondered where the first years she'd met on the boats had gone off to. Had they been sorted yet? Were any of them here with her? Instead, she just saw a sea of unknown faces, and she sure wasn't going to go up to one of them and ask to sit next to them. This was Slytherin, and she had to be strong.
Too bad Aunt Sierra had graduated two years ago...
She continued her walk down the table, kind of hoping an opportunity would just jump out at her.

Cat had been busy chatting up her old friends that she'd been missing opportunities to make new ones. Not like she was one of the appointed Slytherin House greeters or anything, but she didn't have to be cause she was just nosey interested in people.
"Hi." She smiled at the two boys, one older, one younger and then girl. "Hi everyone. I'm Cat." FYI. Your new friend, obviously. "What are your names?" Hmm? Not everyone speak up at once now.

He was zen, though. He could keep it together. Just had to wait a little longer for food.

"Er... Hi, Cat. I'm Tallulah."
She momentarily looked back to Derry. It made her feel a little bit nervous, letting a stranger look at her sketchbook. It showed she trusted these guys though, right?
Ta-luuu-laaahhhh. Ooooohhhh. Cat likey.
Cat sent more smiles at the girl who seemed to be a little lost. But there were no need for worries, see, Cat had her back. "Tallulah. That's a pretty name. I like it. Shall I call you Tallulah or do you have a nickname of sorts?"

They had already been cleaning it so why not decor, too.
Cat gave Cassia a sage look and an eyebrow raise. "Food is always important, duckling." HEHE. Always. Never not important. Never. "I think everyone is hoping that very same thing, really. I guess we'll just have to keep waiting." If not, Cat would just go back to providing food for the people she liked.
No big deal.

Or not subtle like. He was still learning the subtle thing.
Having done greetings and commented on the silverware and whatnot, and without any specific detailed questions being thrown his way, West settled back to wait for food and to take note of his new housemates. Well huh. Not all firsties either. That was always.... oh man, Derry had shortbread. Or like had had shortbread. Now Ascanius had short bread. Or he had had it anyways. Despite feeling relatively terrible about it all, in that moment it was rather dulled by hunger, and West, catching Derry's wave and smile, did his absolute best to properly smile back. Properly. Except not really, but she didn't need to know that. He didn't want her to feel bad, that just made things feel worse really. So, full beam smile. He was a Slytherin, he could fake it til he made it, and she was his friend after all. He didn't quite have the guts to give her the gift he'd got her though, not yet anyways.
Cat and Cassia were there being all.... Cat and Cassia-y. Hem. Cat would probably tag along to the Ravenclaw table too, for Mo reasons. Cassia was recruiting followers, he noted. People to wave palm fronds at her and hold a plate of grapes and such. What sucked was there was no Peyton to round things out. He missed her already, but there was a redhead replacement that Derry was talking to by the looks of it (GrapehGrape). They did tend to travel in packs he'd noticed, except Clement who kept to himself or attached himself face to face with Kat.
This was something West could understand. Good lips, those.
But anyways, who was she? She sounded enthusiastic, West noted. He wasn't gonna interrupt any conversation though, so he just offered a friendly smile and cast his attention along the table. First year..... Pair of first years... Sonea... Kahlan... First year..... A girl that probably wasn't a firstie (Fira).... new? Had to be new, he'd know her if not.... First year... dude that looked his age (noodles)... West's eyes stopped there. Huh. Who was that guy? What year was he in? Did him and Theo and Ascanius and Terry (where the heck was Terry anyways?) have a new dormmate? Well he seemed busy chatting away to firsties so... West just sort of nod smiled and continued his looking around.
It was a pretty good distraction.
He was staying quiet though, needed food to function and whatnot.
At some point in the madness Cat caught West's eye and wiggled her eyebrows in quite an exaggerated manner at him. "Yo, Odessa." TELL US THINGS.
The corner's of Cutty's mouth turned up in amusment as he heard Caleb speak up on his Sophie's behalf.
Oh, yeah. She was definitely mad about him.
"Yeah!" He said without wasting a second between the time Kahlan had finished her question and speaking, almost interrupting her, really with his eagerness. "I heard there was a squid in the lake. Is it true? And what about sleeping in a dungeon? What's it like?" To Cutty this last part sounded like the most fun.
"No, I'm alright. I'm sorry, Prefect. I'm just so hungry." Cutty said in his best weak-from-hunger sounding voice.
He'd do well as a squid baby? Lucian laughed. It wasn't the reaction he hadn't expected. More like a: Poor Lucian, you brave guy. An exaggeration, but he expected something along those lines. Instead he got a new nickname. Awesome. He made a fishy face and swayed his head imitating the way squids swim.
"I should probably change my name to Bartholomew Junior, then," Lucian joked. His mother had told him the Giant Squid's name. Lucian wondered if momma and papa squid disliked their child squid that much. Bartholomew, really? Oh, right! Their common room was at the bottom of the lake. Jolly. "Absolutely. No need for swimming trunks." Hehe. He wondered if he'll actually get to see the squid.
Lucian watched her and for a minute he thought she had candy, but it was just a wrapper, then she threw it and hit someone with it. "Scoooore!" he whispered so she wouldn't get caught. "Good throw," he said. He rolled up his sleeves, sick of the feeling of wet clothes.
Squid boy. Ha.
"Lucian Blackwell, at your service," he said, offering her his hand. He's always wanted to say that. Like his dad.

She liked this one.
"So anything that you're looking forward to?" she asked, trying to further conversation, a smile on her face...
No more attitude, that was good he supposed. And it made it easier, heh. Lucian thought about her question. He had so many back home when him and his friends were gushing over their schools. Now they all seem to have scattered around in his head.
Wait!
He did have one. "Are there Hippogriffs here? I've always wanted to see one, but my parents say it's dangerous. My dad said he got to pet one in his days here." And it probably had been super duper awesome. He wanted one.

But... where all the first years this small?
"A speech," he complained. He still had to wait for that? As if waiting for a bunch of kids to get sorted wasn't enough. Lucian rubbed his stomach as it grumbled again. Hungry Lucian was hungry. "I hope she hurries up," he said, "because I'm hungry and I really want to go see the common room." Hopefully the Headmistress wasn't the chatty type. Fingers crossed.
Lucian listened to what Sonea had to say next. He was about to respond when she kept going. Okay. Go on. He'll take consideration of this advice. Not get caught being a menace? Pssh. Lucian was an expert on that. "Don't worry, I can be really sneaky if I want to. This one time I took some of my granddad's chocolates right from under his nose. He ended up blaming my cousin because I was too innocent-looking." Ha. Ha. The look on Olivia's face. Priceless.
It wasn't just his ambition that got him into Slytherin. He was sly, like a snake.

She just didn't want to be called an "insufferable know-it-all". Probably was a good thing Scabior wasn't here anymore.
... Just kidding. Kat missed Professor Scabior's pretty face.
Heh. "I officially welcome you to Slytherin," the blonde grinned at the younger boy. She didn't mind him sitting beside her. I mean like, everyone wanted to sit beside her, right? Oh... her badge's over-shininess reflected a bit because of the candles. Ugh. "It's my badge," Kat said and adjusted it so that the light didn't reflect on it anymore. Could he read it better now?
Whoa.
Lucian felt as if he'd been blessed by the Queen of Slytherin or something. He bowed his head with a grin. "I feel honored, my lady." Yet another thing he's always wanted to say. This day just kept getting better and better for him.
The boy squinted at the badge. His eyes widened momentarily, then looked up at Kat. She may not be a queen, but she had power. Might as well be one, no? "You're Head Girl," he stated.
OH MY MERLIN. HE DRANK FROM THE HEAD GIRL'S CUP.
Lucian kept mellow. "Wicked," he said, shifting on his seat. "So, does that mean you enforce rules and stuff? And can you give detention?" That could be both good and bad, he figured.
Marissa sat at the table and looked around. She listened as people were sorted and picked at her food. She hated listening to speeches and couldn't wait to see her new room. "How much longer is this going to take?" she muttered under her breathe.

Maybe a bit more to be excited about though!
"I'm just excited for...well, everything! To finally start LEARNING and actually DOING magic," Caleb said with a nod. Yup, that was the best part, finally being allowed to use the gift he was born with.
"Wait, what happened last year?" Caleb asked, wrinkling his eyebrows. He never really paid attention to the news, and he'd remembered his father mentioning how Hogwarts was broke in a passing conversation - well, obviously not THAT broke, because here he was! Ready to learn! If the school was broke, they'd have closed it, right?
Right.

Caleb wanted to explain that he'd been trying to protect her HONOR and all that, like brothers should do, but decided to drop it. This Cutty kid was not worth his time, no siree. So instead he grinned when she mentioned how Dad would react. "I think he'll be shocked, but by the time we're home for Christmas, he'll probably have accepted it. I mean, he's a Gryffindor. He HAS to come around eventually cause it's the 'right thing' and all that," Caleb said, using air quotes when he spoke. He was all for doing the right thing too, but not if the right thing was going to have consequences. Better to do the thing that caused the least amount of damage, Caleb thought.
"And hey, at least we aren't in Ravenclaw or something. We'd REALLY be weirdos. At least if we'd gotten Hufflepuff for some ungodly reason, we'd have Uncle Alex and Grandma Newell to share in our pain, but NO ONE is a Ravenclaw in our family. Not a single one," he said. Besides, he didn't really like the idea of wasting your life away reading books. And what if you couldn't figure out the riddle to get into your common room? That would just plain suck.
"Ally?" he chuckled. "We're not fighting a WAR Sophie. Although, who knows what some of the bigger kids are like...they seem friendly though," he said with a shrug before turning to the Head Girl. See? She was nice!

Faylinn snickered at the boys antics as she flicked the paper away, "Thanks, I'm hopping it will do me well in quidditch. I want to be chaser for the house team. Maybe go on to have a professional career..." She fantasized before regaining her thoughts, she was only eleven after all!

petra looked at the slytherin girl who had introduced herself as Cassia. Petra looked at the girl with a skeptical look. Reason: double post ;)
Kat was going to laugh any moment now. As time passed by, Ariana Logan was getting even more flattering. #BodyByDylan did its magic, I tell ya. And this was just one of the by-products out of all the healthy diets and exercise routines that their previous Quidditch Captains taught them. 'Taught' wasn't even the right verb. It was more like 'instilled' because by now, Kat had adjusted to all of Dylan's demands. "You're a Slytherin. Slytherins are always flattering." Flattering was applicable to all Slytherins, unless your birth name was Daichi Katharos. "And I do feel loved, so now it's your turn to feel loved." With that said, Kat blew her own kisses at Ari... because this was, apparently, a normal thing to do.
"hell yeah we are." she said very casually, cause it was in fact true that being a slytherin meant they were naturally flattering and flirtatious. Though putting a Hudson and a Logan in the same room and you needed to open a window cause of all the ego inflating that happened. It seemed as if the two did it naturally to one another and have been for as long as the girl could remember. It was nothing new or surprising but usually they did it in the dorm in private by commentating on one anothers outfits or just giving each other uplifting ego in flattering compliments by telling one another they looked mighty fine that day or something. This year though it seemed it was all coming out of the bag and neither girl seemed to care really."Katrina Hudson you Doll." she said to her fellow snake and caught her kiss before giggling. Was this ok? Hopefully so. Was this normal? Probably not. Did Ariana Care? Hell no she didnt. so,Carry on head girl Husdon, carry on.
Faylinn sat at the Slytherin table, folding her napkin into an odd shape before flattening it out and repeating the whole process again. The sorting couldn't take much longer and then after that there was some dumb speech from the headmistress and then she would be fed... Fay heard similar complaints next to her to see a young girl around the same again as herself, "Too long if you ask me..." She muttered back to the girl, not that it was directed at her or anything..
Marissa looked up from her plate when she heard a girl answer her question, "Definitely to long." she said with a smile, "I'm Marissa," she said to the girl, "Are you a first year too?"
"I know what you mean... I mean I use cleaning spells at home every now and then but I prefer learning other things..." the blonde agreed with the older girl, shrugging slightly.
"Jinx? Oh she's fine" Kahlan said, shrugging slightly as she thought about her cat. "She's probably already sleeping in the dorm, annoyed that I'm not there stroking her fur while she sleeps" she continued, crinkling her nose slightly at the thought, though a slightly strained laugh game out anyway.
She was fairly sure that that cat owned her, not the other way around!
SPOILER!!: Sophie
Kahlan was actually surprised that their head of house was also her grandmother, eyes widening slightly, but she quickly shook that off giving a small sigh. "It's pretty cool to have family here... for me it's just... me... but my mum was in Slytherin while she was at Hogwarts... my dad and brother never came to Hogwarts, they both went to Luxembourg Quidditch Academy" she explained, shrugging slightly.
Then she thought about her mother and how her mother had reacted to her being Slytherin. "My mum didn't really care what house I would be in, though if Liam came to Hogwarts I think she would've thrown a fit if he wasn't in Slytherin" she mused, thinking about how her mother preferred her brother.
Not that she cared.

Is it true? And what about sleeping in a dungeon? What's it like?" To Cutty this last part sounded like the most fun.
Her first reaction was to smile, almost laughing, at how many questions he had. Then again she'd done the same thing last year, only her questions had all been centered around classes and what teachers were like - but she supposed those questions were reasonable enough.
"Yeah, there's a giant squid in the lake, it's actually pretty friendly" she thought, thinking back to how she'd once fallen into the lake and it had helped her out of the lake. "Well our common room and dorms are in the dungeon, but I find it quite nice and comfortable in there once it's tidy... though it does get quite cold if the fire is left off... but its also something that you get used to and something that ends up being really... normal I guess" and then there was the memory of first seeing the mess of what it was last year, and how messy it had been.
This year would be different... she hoped!

Wait!
He did have one. "Are there Hippogriffs here? I've always wanted to see one, but my parents say it's dangerous. My dad said he got to pet one in his days here." And it probably had been super duper awesome. He wanted one.
Hippogriffs? That was a question that she hadn't ever heard a first year ask... or one she wouldn't have ever thought to ask when offered to have any question about the school answered. But it it was what he wanted to know...
Who was she to judge? Though she was anyway
"There might be some in one of the Care of Magical Creatures class... or any of the things that center around that kind of thing... and generally you do get to pet the creatures in CoMC" she answered, almost hesitantly as she thought about it before shrugging slightly.
Either way she tried, whether she was told she should or not, because really, the animals were all adorable!

Oooh another new face, though then Kahlan heard the question that the girl asked under her breath.
"Depends on how long the sorting takes" she replied with a shrug. "Once the sorting is over the head mistress usually gives a speech and then the food appears on the table" and hopefully this year it would be yummy food!!!!

Right.
The blonde laughed at the boys response, but she nodded, knowing how he felt - despite the fact that her older brother had taught her a bit before she was ever meant to learn about magic. "So any classes that your looking forward to then?" after all if he wanted to learn about magic, then he should have a class he was looking forward to... right?
Then he asked the question.
And the look on the second years face immediately gave away that she didn't really want to talk about it, but then again she had told him she could answer anything soooo...
"The house elves kinda... left?" she started, not really knowing if that was the right way to put it. "Pretty much all of them were gone, we spent a lot of lessons learning about cleaning and cleaning the school... everything was dirty and dusty and well... instead of having proper plates and stuff we ended up with one set of plastic plates and cutlery for the whole year..."
Yup it was all pretty dodgy.
"Everything's looking really good so far" she responded, immediately brightening up a bit. "And classes were all really good last year anyway...

Turning to the younger girl she smiled, shaking her head slightly. "Nice to meet you Petra, and no I'm not new, it's my second year here" she continued, trying to make sure that she stayed calm, to make sure that she didn't make the younger girl uncomfortable.
"So are you excited to be at Hogwarts? Anything that your looking forward to? Any questions that you have about anything that you have here? she asked softly, hoping to get the young girl to open up a bit more.
