The Snakes, reigning Quidditch Cup champions and second-place House and Gobstones Cup finishers, sit under a slightly frayed green and silver banner representing their house. However, the table is no longer in need of a polish and the place settings have returned to Hogwarts' traditional REAL silver silverware and heavy plates and goblets. Enjoy the much improved food!
Oh, who is that? Wondered the third year and saw a girl she didn't knew. Curious who she was she walked over to the girl and offered her her hand. "Hi, I'm Sonea, who are you?"

Lucian listened to what Sonea had to say next. He was about to respond when she kept going. Okay. Go on. He'll take consideration of this advice. Not get caught being a menace? Pssh. Lucian was an expert on that. "Don't worry, I can be really sneaky if I want to. This one time I took some of my granddad's chocolates right from under his nose. He ended up blaming my cousin because I was too innocent-looking." Ha. Ha. The look on Olivia's face. Priceless.
It wasn't just his ambition that got him into Slytherin. He was sly, like a snake.
"Yeah, i know, speeches are boring, but the adults are telling important things, so a lot people are listening to it..." When she had been a first year, she didn't had listened to it, and as far as she knew, she didn't had missed anything important.... And... even during her second year didn't she had had listened to it, and even than she hasn't missed anything, but maybe, now that she was older, she could better start to listen, you never knew if there would be something important THIS year.... She really wanted to know it if there were AGAIN some financial problems so that she would be prepared, but for as far Sonea had seen, was the school back to normal again, luckily...
"I hope that too" sighed Sonea and looked searchingly at the staff table. You never knew WHAT the headmistress was going to do, but she was sure that it would be over soon. "The Headmistress is really a nice person, you will like her and... she likes pink" she knew that the boy probably didn't cared about the fact if the headmistress liked pink or not, but SHE liked pink, so she wanted to inform the boy. "Oh, and the common room, you will like it there, it is one of the best places from Hogwarts!" Grinned Sonea, but she didn't wanted to tell him much about it, seeing with you own eyes was always better and a much better surprise!
"Haha! That was smart of you!" laughed Sonea. She had never done something like that when she was home, her mom and dad were sometimes.... Let's just say that IF she would get caught, her mom and dad would be the most scariest thing of the would, and she didn't dared to do anything to them.... But here, when she was at Hogwarts, she LOVED it to break some rules and to do things what not are allowed... It was always fun to break some rules!
She looked at the boy when he made his last comment and nodded, yes, it was indeed smart to use you innocent looks, she had done that also a few times before.

She had heard her speaking softly and if she had been sitting a few feet away, she probably wouldn't have heard her. "But i don't think that we need to wait long, the headmistress knows that we all are hungry and tired." Than she smiled at the girl and offered her her hand. "I'm Sonea Duvessa, and who are you?"

"Jinx? Oh she's fine" Kahlan said, shrugging slightly as she thought about her cat. "She's probably already sleeping in the dorm, annoyed that I'm not there stroking her fur while she sleeps" she continued, crinkling her nose slightly at the thought, though a slightly strained laugh game out anyway.
She was fairly sure that that cat owned her, not the other way around!
"Wow, you have used spells at home?" Sonea's eyes widened, she wasn't allowed to use her wand when she wasn't at Hogwarts, her mom would be REALLY angry if she would see her using a spell. And besides that, why would she use her wand to clean? She had always a few maids who were cleaning FOR them, so she didn't needed to do anything herself.... End even now, when she and her mom were living somewhere else, she didn't needed to clean anything! The only times she had cleaned was when she was here at Hogwarts, and during the lessons! It had been SOOOOO boring! She really hoped that she didn't needed to use those spells again, they weren't important for her to know, she wouldn't use them when she was older, she would have maids for her own to clean!
"Pets are nice" said Sonea responding to Kahlan, she didn't liked cats, but that was her problem, there were a LOT cats here at the school, but her two rats were perfectly trained to avoid them.

The younger girl shrugged slightly at the older Slytherin as she seemed shcked by the fact that she used magic at home. "My brothers already 20 so because he's allowed to use magic he uses it a lot and occasionally shows me a few things... Mum and Dad don't really care unless Amy is over because she's a muggle" she explained nonchalently as she thought about how all of that worked in her house.
"Magic has just always been a big part of our lives though considering I got my first broom when I was 3 and quidditch is a big thing in my family" she continued.
Pets actually were nice the blonde mused, though she wasnt sure if Jinx could fall under that category so she let out a small laugh thay probably seemed out of place. "I'd agree, but I'm pretty sure that my cat thinks it owns me!!!"

Derry just wanted everyone to try out. Then again... "Hmm, I bet Lando would like that. I was trying to teach him to hold onto the end of my broom but every time I take him outside he finds something better to do." He probably just didn't like heights. Maybe that's why he liked Ascanius so much. They had that in common. "Anyway. We can make it luxurious. With spells and stuff." MHMM. Derry was getting pretty good at transfiguration so she could totally help turn their bedroom into some sort of princess suite. That would be super cool.
Good summer. Right. Summer lowdown. "Mixed good and bad. Met my dad's parents, grandfather used to play Quidditch for Scotland, grandmother looked like she wanted to hex me every time she spoke to me." Exaggeration but okay. "Then Ascanius came over and I tried to teach him to ride a horse, he was alright I guess. Mam won't shut up about him." Honestly. Introduce ONE friend to the woman and it's "Ascanius This, Ascanius That" and 'Isn't he a nice young boy.' Pfft. If only she knew. "Then I saw my granny and grandpa on my mams side and that's always fun. Then went to visit dad's parents again which was stressful but apparently I had to do it. And that's about it. So ups and downs." Too much information? Maybe. But y'know, she asked. "What about you?"
Try-out. Cassia should try-out. The blond paused trying to explain why she couldn't. She remembered talking about this for the first couple of years but then people just stopped asking seeing she wasn't the sporty person. "It does sound fun," The whole flying and throwing balls around. To a level of course, when injuries start happening, she kinda loses interest. "Buuut," She said hesitantly, "I think I'd rather stay on the stands," Chicken. Mhhmm. "Umm...You guys do need someone to cheer for you," That excuse always made her feel better. She liked to believe that that was a good thing. Hearing what Derry said next, made Cassia half-laugh and half-stare. "That'd make a scene," A cat perched on the end of the broom. "I doubt that'd be safe for either of you," Since the red-headed would be worried about him during the match and that might divert her attention. "I can bring him to matches," She said. Would Derry approve of that.
Now that was a very awesome idea. "Brilliant. We should totally redecorate." The blond was already getting ideas!
Summer talk! Cassia rested her elbows on the table and listened with interest to Derry talking about her summer. A bright smile was on her face because when the blond asks about something, she appreciated nothing more than long and detailed answers. Because she was talkative and talked a lot. Not like on the train. People barely said anything, "That's one fun summer," She grinned at her dormmate. "I've never ridden a horse." Just a random thought. About her summer now. The snake didn't even have to pause to think about where to start. she's talked about it so many times. "I was interning at the Leaky Cauldron and it was kinda interesting." There was a huge difference between fun and interesting. "Aside from that, I hung out in Diagon Alley," Where naturally you met many people. Since there was a festival and all. "Blue and I went to Muggle London on her birthday," Very very fun. She wanted to ask the eaglette to do this every summer. "I went and slept over at Lex's" Did Derry know the Gryffindor girl? Those were about the most important events.

"Yeeaah." He said shrugging his small shoulders. "I spent all m'mooney on sweets from the trolley. If you know anyone who wants to buy any give 'em my name. The T is silent." He felt the need to say in case they were sending owls.
Did her words sink in? Did she just influence a youngster? At least he didn't disagree. She could only hope that her words were believed. She's been working on her convincing skills you know.
The next thing he said made her laugh lightly. Spending up money on sweets. Didn't they all fall in this trap. "Well, they are delicious," She said nodding her head. "I will do that, I'd also buy a little from you." Lookit her helping the youth! She won't buy everything though. "Once we go up to the common room." Her money was in the trunk. And that should be in the dorm now.
"You could put up posters around you know," Just a thought. She had some experience in this posters-department.

Once they made a mistake and a Professor found out, they'd have to pay the debt. Kat can't do anything about it but she let it be. All she could do was hope nobody in Slytherin got in trouble and that nobody was going to be doing foolish things. They were going to get an angry Kat if they did dumb stuff.
Ooooooh, she got it! Kat grinned as well, because you know... girl code and that stuff. T'was a girl to girl thing and boys could never understand it. Not at all, nope. And... did Kat ask the wrong question? Why did Cassia look all straight-faced all of a sudden? "Something you want to talk about?" Or in a better understaind, someone you want Kat to confront? Because she'd do it. Just not right now, not in front of the student body.
Cassia noticed herself going all calm for a bit. She blinked then smiled at Kat. Those moments when she just gets lost in thoughts were occurring quite often. But here she was again. "Umm..Nothing is really new," She told Kat. as in, nothing they haven't already talked about during summer. The two were owl-ing and those letters helped the fifth-year pretty much. "I guess now I'll see what happens those days," She said smiling again. It was much easier talking about stuff but she knew she'd chicken when it's time to take actions.
She didn't like feeling insecure about something but she couldn't help it. Though away from that, the sincere look on Kat's face caused a feeling of warmth to spread inside the younger snake. IT was always good to know that there were people who cared about you. "On another hand," Cassia said changing the subject since they couldn't talk about it in here and since there wasn't anything new on it in the first place. "I am excited for this fifth-year, also kinda nervous, *GULP* Exams at the end of the year. Important ones.

“Thanks. Nice to actually know one of the faces here.” He said genuinely.
Oh right, his name. "I'm Józsua."*smile*
Great. She was remembered. She appreciates people with good memory. Well, actually she appreciates people who remember her, doesn't really matter for her if they remember others. Yup, Slytherin.
The blond smiled back at the fellow newly-sorted snake, "Mhhm. I remember, too," What a coincidence huh? Small world. "What year are you in?" She asked noting that they looked about the same age. Ignore that she wasn't that tall, she believed that she still gave the impression of being fifteen. Anyone dare disagree?! HMM. "I'm a fifth year," Info you know. Also, she kinda never allowed anyone to guess in case they guessed wrong. Talk about insecurities.
Józsua. She registered the name. And since it was a unique name, she wasn't worried about forgetting it.
She nodded at his next words. Though, she's only experienced the feeling of being new in her first year, she could imagine transferring to a new school knowing absolutely no one. Not easy. She wondered if she'd ever survive it.
"What school did you go to before?" Did it sound like she was interrogating? She hoped not, she was just starting a conversation. And learning new stuff about the new boy.

It wasn't easy to control the sound of her voice, you know. Especially when one is born with a squeaking throat. It required effort. But the older girl was worth it so Cassia didn't complain. "That's interesting," She commented. Though it was a vague answer according to Cassia's measures it still was better than nothing. She's head vaguer. No big deal.
"Oooh. Luxurious she says. I like the sound of that." OOOOHHH. Cat passed a look over at Derry and wiggled her eyebrows. "Cassia is going to make our dorm luxurious." HEHE. LOOK, ROOMIES. They would be living in luxury!
"No can disagree with that I guess," She winked at the fellow fifth-year referring to the food comment. The girl was dead right! And since Cat was such a good cook, It only made sense that that comment came out from her. Skillful cooks were always awesome friends. Not just to eat from their food when possible but to learn. Cassia was good at baking mostly, but cooking was a harder thing.
Grinning at excited Cat, Cassia dramatically batted her eyelashes, "We do deserve the best," Duh! Even that wasn't enough. Exaggeration. Why not. Words and thoughts were for free. "I'll do my best. And you can help," More like, please HELP! "And we'll ask about your opinion, of course," Since they were in the same dorm, so the three of them had a say in the changes.

"yeah.. it was." in other words suck up to them and for Petra that was not hard. She did that alot in muggle schools and it always worked but she was not too confident that it would work in this school. Trying to stike up a converstaion " So Cassia what year are you?"

Marissa looked up from her plate when she heard a girl answer her question, "Definitely to long." she said with a smile, "I'm Marissa," she said to the girl, "Are you a first year too?"
The small blonde girl nodded in agreement. As exciting as the whole Hogwarts this was, she was getting rather hungry...and tired come to thing of it. Today has been a looooong day! Fay smiled at the girl, Marissa, and introduced herself, "Faylinn. And yes I am a first year," She turned to face Marissa, "And since you asked I'm assuming your one as well? Means we'll be sharing a dorm together..." Faylinn studied the girl for a moment before concluding that she would be a good roommate, just as long as they didn't have any early birds, Fay could handle rooming with anyone. The one thing she couldn't stand however, was waking up early.

Well, why don't you just look at that? Slytherins were friendly after all. In Sophie's experience, all the Slytherins she'd ever known had only been nice to you what they wanted something from you, so it was with this attitude that Sophie approached every nice Slytherin she met.
"Hey, I'm Sophie," she said, turning toward the girl, who looked only slightly older. Then the girl went on to say she was a third year, which Sophie had pretty much already gathered. Slightly older, just like she'd thought. "Of course I'm happy to be in Slytherin. Almost my whole family is made up of Slytherins." She grinned with pride. "I was actually expecting it. I don't think I'd make a good Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw." She was far too great for that.

Did she know that Kat looked up to Sierra? No? She should know that soon. And Lafay was her grandmother. "I can see the resemblance. Slytherin pride, you know." Greingoths and their strong determination. No doubt they would all get sorted into Slytherin house.
Yeah, Kat knew that. She did have a title, but that didn't mean they wouldn't all get titles too right? "You can make a name or title for yourself." Did she know what that meant? Participate in class, try out for Quidditch, be the great Slytherin she was. Yeah? Kat was hinting her. They needed great people who can earn precious house points because they had a chance at the House Cup. Kat also saw that glance at the Mordaunt dude though. "And what does he have then?" If not greatness, then he had to have something.
Sophie perked up. "You know Aunt Sierra?" she asked, exciting to hear that somebody recognized her. "She's my mom's sister." Resemblance? To... It couldn't be Caleb. Even though they were twins, Sophie didn't see too many resemblances. "Resemblance to who?" she asked. And did she mean looks, or Slytherin pride?
"Oh, I plan to make a name and a title for myself," she said, grinning again. "I haven't exactly mapped out how, but I plan to be great someday." And not just great enough to be sorted into Slytherin. That was just plain old greatness. She meant so great that the whole world would know her name! Sophie followed the girl's gaze to Cutty Mordaunt. What did he have? "A big head," Sophie whispered.

Another really nice Slytherin. Merlin, Sophie would need to watch her back around here! She was almost sure these people weren't being nice just for the sole purpose of being nice. Nevertheless, she didn't want to make anymore enemies on day one, so she made an extra effort to be nice in return.
"I'm Sophie Newell," she said. She should really start following that up with something like 'the former Minister's granddaughter, the Head of House's granddaughter', etc. etc. She just thought it might make her sound more important or something. He HAS to come around eventually cause it's the 'right thing' and all that," Caleb said, using air quotes when he spoke. He was all for doing the right thing too, but not if the right thing was going to have consequences. Better to do the thing that caused the least amount of damage, Caleb thought.
"And hey, at least we aren't in Ravenclaw or something. We'd REALLY be weirdos. At least if we'd gotten Hufflepuff for some ungodly reason, we'd have Uncle Alex and Grandma Newell to share in our pain, but NO ONE is a Ravenclaw in our family. Not a single one," he said. Besides, he didn't really like the idea of wasting your life away reading books. And what if you couldn't figure out the riddle to get into your common room? That would just plain suck.
"Ally?" he chuckled. "We're not fighting a WAR Sophie. Although, who knows what some of the bigger kids are like...they seem friendly though," he said with a shrug before turning to the Head Girl. See? She was nice!
Caleb ignored the Cutty kid and didn't say anything else, but he'd seen him smirk when he stood up for Sophie. He didn't like this dude. He had his EYE on his sister and as far as Caleb was concerned, Sophie was never ever going to date or do anything of the sort until she was like...married. Just like Dad always said.
Yeah, he could smell trouble all over this kid. But for now, all he was focused on was meeting his new classmates. SO MANY of them!
"Psh. Yeah, right," Sophie said with a smirk. "We'll probably go home to Gryffindor stockings or something like that. Mom'll make him take them down, though. I really think she'll be excited for us, and I can't wait to tell Daddy!" That is, to say, her grandfather. Confusing names here. She shrugged. "He'll come around, but it'll always come up, I think." Meh. She was proud of her sorting even so.
"Ew, I can't imagine myself in another house. I think Slytherins have the best of all of them anyway," she continued. "We're ambitious enough to be smart, we're friendly enough to choose our allies well, and hmm...nah, we don't really relate to Gryffindors. Except if they're our moms and dads." Right, because Sophie and Caleb had Gryffindors as parents.
"No, we're not in a war, Caleb, but wisen up. You can have friends in Slytherins, but we all have one main thing in common--we're going to look out for ourselves in the end," she said. "An ally can come in handy, and from here on our, you're mine." She'd just declared it so.

Not that she cared.

She nodded along as the girl explained some of her family's history. "A Quidditch Academy seems cool. Most all my family played, but I think Caleb and I are going to wait until maybe next year to try out. We're just not into a team thing this year." At least, that's how it was on her part. She narrowed her eyebrows into a look of confusion. "Why would it be so different with Liam?" Was that her brother?
She covered her mouth with her hand as she giggled loudly at the boys fish face, something once again, her own face was incapable of doing... Fay nodded her head in agreement at the new name, it fitted him quite nicely, "Bartholomew Squidy Jr." She concluded.
Faylinn snickered at the boys antics as she flicked the paper away, "Thanks, I'm hopping it will do me well in quidditch. I want to be chaser for the house team. Maybe go on to have a professional career..." She fantasized before regaining her thoughts, she was only eleven after all!
"Well it's a pleasure, Sir Lucian Blackwell!" She said, changing her voice to sound very pompous. Hmmm...Blackwell...that sounded awfully familiar.... Fay stood up, ignoring the boys hand, and curtsied, "Faylinn Hadaway, at your service!"
Lucian laughed. Okay. He was enjoying this making-new-friends thing. Well, with his housemates anyway. Ha! And She agreed with his new name. "Yep, I bet my mum is going to love that name," he said. She'd probably be all: I can't believe you don't like what I named you. And freak out. Or maybe his dad would. "I'm so going to sign my first letter to them as Bartholomew Squid Jr." Lucian laughed. That would be CLASSIC.
Oooh! Quidditch. He was always down for Quidditch talk. "That's so cool! I'll root for you." Like, she even thought that far into the future. The farthest Lucian's thought about the future is if he had clean socks for the next day. "What team do you wanna play for?" Because he had a favorite, but he wasn't telling her until she answered him.
So they were doing accents now? A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
But she ignored his hand. Whaaaaat? Oh, she was curtsying. He knew what to do next! Maybe. Lucian jumped out of his seat and stood up straight, then bowed with one hand on his back. "The honor would be mine," he said, altering his English accent to a very posh-like one like the business people his mom worked with. Lucian sat back down, laughing. He really didn't know what to say next. He didn't exactly go to curtsy lessons or anything. But he said he'd be at her service first, so...he won. And he was the guy. So, there. Heh.

"There might be some in one of the Care of Magical Creatures class... or any of the things that center around that kind of thing... and generally you do get to pet the creatures in CoMC" she answered, almost hesitantly as she thought about it before shrugging slightly.
Either way she tried, whether she was told she should or not, because really, the animals were all adorable!
There might be some? That was enough to get Lucian's hopes up. He grinned at the thought of being close to one and petting. Then afterward doing a painting of it. Oh! What if it let him ride it over the lake? Lucian's eyes got dreamy for a while. He NEEDED to go to Care of Magical Creatures and hopefully then he'd finally see one.
"That's cool," he said, snapping out of his little day dream. "Is the professor nice, the one in Care of Magical Creatures?" He needed a heads up. If he wanted to get to the Hippogriffs he first needed to go through the caretaker. He looked at the staff table. Hmmm...which of all of those professor could be the COMC one?

When she had been a first year, she didn't had listened to it, and as far as she knew, she didn't had missed anything important.... And... even during her second year didn't she had had listened to it, and even than she hasn't missed anything, but maybe, now that she was older, she could better start to listen, you never knew if there would be something important THIS year....
In Lucian's opinion adults never really said anything important. Unless it was about money or paint brushes or sweets, then nothing that came out of their mouth interested him. "Well, at least we'll get food after that." He sighed. Stay optimistic, that's something his father had advised. It wasn't easy.
He stared at Sonea for a bit. She sounded like she's had quite some time here. "Hey, so it true? Hogwarts was broke last term? No money." That must of have sucked for hem BIG time.
The boy wrinkled his nose a little at her next statement. "I'm not a big fan of pink," he said. In fact, when he painted he rarely used it. It was all Bridgett's fault. She adoooored pink and when they painted together she'd get it all over him. Did he look like a doll? Nope. Oh! Common room talk. "I hear it's under the lake. I hope we get to see the Giant Squid. He tried kidnapping me." Not really, but after chatting with Faylinn he was sticking with that story. It sounded fun.
He chuckled a bit. Yep, he was smart. Too bad Ravenclaw was going to miss out on his awesomeness, but he was happy with Slytherin. It felt right...even though his eyes kept going toward the Gryffindor table from time to time. What would his dad say? Of course his mom would be happy he's in her former house, but his dad? The best Gryffindor of all time, what would he think?

For CastielIsBlue:
Okay, FINNALY there were new first years! When Sonea had been in her first year she had been lonely, there weren't much first years in Slytherin that time, so she was happy to see that there were a lot new students now! With a big grin she looked around her, she had already met a few new first years but she wanted to know as much as possible new students, you never knew if some of them were easy to use or simply good to be friends with! So now she looked around her, searching for somebody she could approach and saw a girl sitting. Deciding that she wanted to know who she was she walked toward the girl and stopped besides her. "Hi, I'm Sonea" she offered the girl her hand and looked at the girl, trying to decide if she was worthy to be in her presence or not...
For Synergy
Just when Sonea had made a small talk with a new first year she saw another girl sitting, the girl was younger than she was, and she didn't knew her, so she assumed that she was also new. But, because she didn't had listened to the sorting, it was really boring to watch all those kids who were so nervous, so she guessed that this girl was new. And yes, when she was closer to the girl she saw that she really was too young to be a second year, so this girl was new!
With a smile and a curious look in her eyes, she stopped besides the girl and looked down at her, wondering who she was and if she would be a good Slytherin or not... "Hello there, a new Slytherin" said Sonea and stepped closer to the girl. "I'm Sonea Duvessa, and who are you?" she smiled all the time, trying to not scare the girl, she didn't wanted to scare a student who would be, 'maybe' a good Slytherin in the future...

Her eyes widened when she heard that Kahlan had a few older brothers, she wondered how it would be if she had a older brother, she was sure that she would have liked it and because of that she looked jealous at the other girl. But then she looked shocked, had Kahlan a Muggle in her family? Wow, that was bad for her! Her uncle had married to a muggle and now it was forbidden for her to talk to her uncle...... "So... you have a muggle in you family"Sonea didn't knew what to say about it, she disliked them, and almost everybody knew that, but Kahlan was her friend, so she didn't knew how to respond to the girl about this...
"Oh, magic was also important in my family, but i had always a maid with me who was doing everything i wanted, so i didn't needed to do anything for myself, and i have grown up in a muggle neighborhood so plying with magic toys was not really smart..." she didn't sounded happy about it, she hated the muggles because she, a witch, needed to act like a muggle while she was MUCH better than they were! She needed to play with THEIR toys, stupid muggle toys! She looked angry while she thought back and tried to shrug it off.
She had still been in a slight bad mood when Kahlan spoke again, and she started to laugh. Haha! "My rats are simple and they knew that they need to listen to me!" She grinned proud while she looked at her two rats.

Sonea nodded to the girl, trying to decide if she was worthy to be in her presence, being a Slytherin wasn't a canteen that they were all purebloods, so she wanted to know as much as possible about all the new students... Oh, her whole family had been sorted in Slytherin, that was good... she looked approvingly at the girl and folded her arms while she listened. "Hmm, being sorted in Slytherin is the best thing, all the other houses are REALLY stupid, so i hope for you that you will have fun here... And if you need help with anything, just ask me okay?" She still wasn't sure if she liked this girl or not, but she wanted to give it a try.

"Ohhhh, don't talk anymore about food, i'm really hungry so i'm tempered to steal something from the kitchen..."she sighed just like Lucian and looked down at her belly when she heard a few sounds coming from it. "But don't worry, i'm sure that we can start soon" she tried to sound convincing because SHE was the eldest of them and she needed to show the boy what to do right?
Her face darkened when she heard his question and her mood became really worse now. Last year had been HORRIBLE! she pressed her lips stiff together and narrowed her eyes, she had been sooooo irritated last year, she had needed to PAY for her own food, to enter her own dorm! It was stupid and she had hated it! She looked with a sour look at the boy and nodded. "Yes, it had been HORRIBLE! We needed to pay for EVERYTHING we wanted to do, the school was dirty, the food was horrible to eat and we needed to clean during the lessons because it was also dirty in the classrooms!" She eyed the staff table while she spoke. "You're lucky to be here during THIS year and the common room will be clean this time, i hope..."
She wasn't really surprised to hear that he didn't liked pink, he was a boy after all... But she liked pink, so she simply ignored it that he didn't liked it so much. Everybody needed to like pink, pink was the best color ever! "I like pink, my rat, Little Princess is also pink" and she pointed at one of her two rats. "the other rat is her baby, his name is Sir Blue, but i don't really like that color, but he is born this way, and i love him!" she smiled while she spoke and looked curious at Lucian, wondering if he would like her rats or not.
"Yes, the common room is under the lake" smiled Sonea but she shivered while she thought about the giant Squid, she didn't liked cold and wet things, she also didn't liked dirt and anything what was not cute and pink! "I can show you the lake if you want, but i'm not going to search for the Giant Squid, i don't like being near it" said Sonea simply.

Adeline glanced around her fellow students with a furrowed brow and her pale pink lips pressed into a firm line. Her green eyes swept from left to right and back again before they rested on the golden plate in front of her. She shook her head in a bit of a despairing way before putting her face in her hands. How did she end up in Slytherin?

She wanted to know it, being friends with a halfblood was possible, but a with somebody from a muggle family? Nooooo, that was not possible, so if Petra was a mudblood than she would not try to make friends with her...... Not even if she could use the girl for her own good, she was simply too good to be in the presence from somebody like that!

All the other houses were really stupid? Sophie just looked at the girl. True, she hadn't wanted to be a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw, but she wouldn't go so far as to say they were stupid. Slytherins could actually benefit from the work of the other houses. Surely this girl was smart enough to realize their potential. "My parents were Gryffindors," she said with a grin. "One of them being our Head of House's daughter." Or step-daughter, but Sophie didn't count those sorts of things when it came to family.
"...and you should really start trying to look at the benefits we can get from the other houses," she said. "Take Gryffindors, for instance. They always throw themselves head first into danger, so that way, we don't have to. Then there's the Ravenclaws--those are the ones we partner up with in class, so we can have the best results and the most credit. Finally, we have the Hufflepuffs. Erm, I'm not really sure what they can do to benefit us, but I'm sure they're good for something." Loyal allies?

Faylinn had been watching the sorting, which was thankfully almost over, trying to see if she could remember any of the first years she had met in Diagon Ally. She had already seen Zippy get sorted into Ravenclaw, not sure how that happened, but as long as he wasn't in the same house as herself. She turned around when she heard a voice and saw a girl, perhaps a few years older than herself, offering her hand out. The small blonde studied her for a moment before grasping her hand in a firm shake, "Faylinn Hadaway," She said in a strong, but tired voice. It had been an extremely long day after all, "Nice meeting you..."

She watched a girl who was sitting in front of her, studying her firm face which was beginning to look a bit sad. Faylinn knew her from somewhere...she couldn't pin point it exactally but it must have been in Diagon Ally because Faylinn rarely left the house. "Hey, are you alright?" She called out as the girl droppered her head into her hands. She didn't look to happy...

"Well, honestly I play for any team because either way it will be the best team once I'm on it," Faylinn announced proudly. "But I enjoy watching almost any team play, but my favorites would probably be the Ballycastle Bats, at least from the British teams. I also root for the Quiberon Quafflepunchers; I saw a few of their games when I was younger and visiting France," Faylinn used to visit the country all the time when she was younger, but since her mother passed they rarely visited anymore...
Faylinn giggled as she sat down after their bow and curtsy. "So are your parents wizards?" She asked, knowing one of them must be for the boy to know about quidditch, "I mean, the name Blackwell sounds familiar, but I can't pinpoint where I heard it from..." Maybe her father mentioned it from the Ministry... Not that Fay would know, he rarely let her leave the house...

Noticing the frown. " I was just asking because I have not seen a lot of First years. hardly any first years at all, Listen to me babbling away, where are my manners of course you can sit beside me." Petra scooted over so sonea could have a seat. Glad of the subject change. " I am truly liking it here so far. I just hope that the classes are fun too. I mean are we going to get to use real spells on each other?or are we just going to be sitting and hearing a professor talk." The last question confused her what in the world was a pureblood? Petra played along like she knew what Sonea was talking about because she did not want her or anyone for that matter think that she didn't know anything about all of this. " Yeah..Yeah.. I'm a pureblood. Are you a pureblood?"

Ariel was still mentally conducting her hunger rant as she noticed a girl beside her.
Hummmm...
Well now that was odd. The girl appeared to be staring blankly at her plate, and not in the sense that she couldn't control her hunger. No, her stare was a blank one that went on past the plate, to another issue entirely.
OH NO AND NOW HER FACE WAS IN HER HANDS.
Was she crying? As far as compassionate people go, Ariel wasn't exactly one of them, but she didn't like crying and if this little one was crying, they were going to have issues. "Oi! Fillette!" Ariel whispered next to the girl, prodding the child's arm with her elbow.
"What's ze matter?" she asked softly. Her french accent came out thicker than it should have. Ugh, all this caring nonsense made her talk funny. Natural motherly instincts. It might be a miracle if she didn't scare the kid off.

Well there was the speech finally. West listened in a stoic sort of silence, inwardly sighing, and then he turned his attention to the arrival of the food. He'd missed ACTUAL Hogwarts food, given last term hadn't had any and all... but for some reason it just wasn't as appealing as it should've been. Sort of grey and flavourless in a way that had nothing to do with the food at all.
He ate in silence, expression thoughtful and distracted.

"Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts. I am pleased to inform you that we have had many of the repossessed items returned to us from Gringotts bank, including the majority of our furniture and supplies from the Hospital Wing, and we have also bought back our quality Hogwarts dinnerware. You'll also be pleased to hear that you no longer need to wash your own laundry and dishes, as our House Elves have also been returned to us."
She paused to give the four House tables an encouraging wolfish smile. "As you have doubtless noticed by now, we have some new staffers joining us this year, including our Groundskeeper, Mr. Cantwell; our History of Magic professor, Mr. Dursley; our Flying Instructor, Ms. Tyner; our Charms professor, Mr. Fuller; our visiting Care of Magical Creatures professor, Ms. Roman; and our visiting Arithmancy instructor, Mr. French, who couldn't make it to the feast this evening. Ms. Hadley has also moved subjects, from Arithmancy to Muggle Studies, and Ms. Elwood has stepped up as our Ravenclaw Head of House. Congratulations to all... Please give them a warm Hogwarts welcome and a round of applause." She paused again to allow for the applause.
"Now this year, we are going to place a renewed focus on academics, as that IS the reason we are all here today and the reason Hogwarts has stood strong for over 1,000 years. I expect you all to work hard and play hard and fair, and to be good examples and leaders for everyone you might encounter this year." Take that as they would. "With that, please enjoy the feast our OWN house elves have lovingly prepared, and good luck in your classes starting tomorrow."
Annie sat down with a sigh of contentment and watched as the steaming hot plates and bowls of food appeared all at once. Ah, now this was what a feast was supposed to be like.
Hearing the Headmistress' voice boom across the Great Hall, Sophie abandoned all her conversations and swirled to the side in her seat. Since she was a first year, she had no idea what most of the speech was about. Repossessed items? Did somebody not pay the bills or something? Meh. Sophie was just glad they starting paying them in time for her to come to school here.
Wash your own laundry and dishes?!
What in the name of Merlin went on last year?! She turned to Caleb and gave him a look that said something like 'Can you believe this?!'. Sophie couldn't tell the new professors from the old ones. Except for her grandmother. They were all new to her. She just nodded a few times like she was following along with every point made.
She could hear clapping, but she didn't know why. She just clapped along anyway, mainly because she didn't want any of her professors to be looking her way and remember her as the kid who didn't clap when their name was called. Work hard and play fair. She could do...most of that. When the speech was over, she turned back to the table, and...FOOD. Thank Merlin!
Petra stoped her talking, and all her attention was on the lady who was probably this headmistress that she had been hearing about in different conversations. During the speech she heard some interesting words like..Repossessed, and House Elves.
She wondered what these house elves looked like. It was a little overwhelming that an elf even existed. She wondered what else she didn't know about the wizarding world. And Repossessed looking around yeah Petra could believe the part about repossession this place looked expensive and when you don't pay your bill the collectors will come.
When she finished her speech, she clapped along with the rest of the people in the hall.
Then when she turned to her plate.. food had magically appeard before her eyes. Petra was beyond stunned, and amazed. It was real food, and not plastic or an illusion. She picked something from the table and started her eating, the food was delish and in between bites she satred her conversation felling a bit more relaxed. Petra at first was angry that she had to go to Hogwarts, but now Petra was glad to be at Hogwarts and was looking forward to the many friends, Classes and countless adventures she would have this year.

Adeline looked up as she heard a somewhat familiar voice from across the table. Faylinn! Oh, god, now people were staring! And ouch! Some funny-talking girl beside her just POKED her, ugh!! Luckily for Addy, crying wasn't a thing she did, and especially just not for confusion's sake... or disappointment's for that matter.
Addy nodded and flashed a smile at Faylinn as she swallowed. "I'm fine, I'm just... Okay, I just really don't know how I ended up at this table no offense but I am so nice and people say I'm bubbly and carefree and aren't Slytherin's supposed to be mean? I'm never mean, and I don't want to be mean I just want to make friends and...stuff!!!" Jesus, that girl must have been holding in all her air since she was sorted and had just decided to unleash it onto all of those sitting close to her.

THE SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH.
Ugh, washing their own clothes? And paper plates? Of all the years she could have decided to transfer, Ariel was glad she had picked this one. She couldn't even imagine the struggles this school had gone through last term. Especially considering the lack of equipment the Headmistress had just mentioned they had in the infirmary. That was just plain unsafe.
And Ariel probably would have continued to pity the students that went to this school last term if FOOD had not just appeared on the table in front of her. GOSH, FINALLY. Waiting had to be karma for skipping lunch.
The girl filled her glass to the brim with ice-cold water and began carefully separating spooning food onto her plate. Mashed potatoes, bread rolls, steamed vegetables, and just about every food imaginable lined the table. This was a feast! The back to term feasts at Beauxbatons had been magnifique to say the least, but a girl does grow tired of seafood and snails.
But she would never forget those ice sculptures.

OH THAT.
Ariel forced herself not to roll her eyes at the child. Obviously the hat had sorted her into this house for a reason; whining about it wasn't going to do her any good. "It's not a house for mean people," she said with a stab in her veggies and a flourish of the fork, "it's a place for people with exceptional ambition and cunning, a place for those with determination and brains." Ariel chewed her food and set her fork down next to her plate. "Please, I didn't even go here last term and I managed to learn that much in the past twenty minutes." That hat's song was catchy.
"And don't worry," she said with a smile, "you'll make friends just as easily in this house as in any other." Assuming the child accepted the house she was in and shut her mouth about it.

"Good evening, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, staff and students." She spoke loudly and crisply, her magically amplified voice echoing across the impressive Hall.
Yay, finally! The speech! Also, the elves were back? How had that happened? Did whoever had the deed give it back? Oh well, who really cared? They weren't going to have wash their own dishes or clothes. Nor cook for themselves (since Toodles wasn't doing the cooking anymore). Her seventh year was looking up already. Just as long those blasted dementors don't show up again.
Sky joined in the clapping once Bunz finished her speech and started loading up her plate with the now back to it's usual delicious standard food. Hopefully, Captain Derry wasn't about to continue Dylan's ridiculous team diet, because she fully planned on enjoying the food this term.

Just as Sonea said "soon" the woman in the important-looking chair stood up -- Lucian figured that must be the Headmistress. He grinned at Sonea, like: How'd you know?! She must have seer blood in her or something. That was a lucky guess.
"Food!" he exclaimed after the Headmistress finished her speech. "You don't have to steal anymore." He beamed and gestured at the food in front of them with his hands, as if it wasn't obvious enough.
For a minute after he asked her the deadly question about last term, Lucian thought he was in trouble. Sonea didn't look too happy. That look on her face said more than enough. Now that his goblet was filled he took a swig from it. "Yeah, I bet it was terrible." Lucian agreed. Washing stuff. That just wasn't something that was in his nature -- with the exception of paintbrushes. Those had to be carefully washed. He thought about a line the Headmistress said. He gazed at the staff table then back at Sonea. "I wonder what she meant by what we might encounter this year. Sounds strange." Like something was bound to happen...
... Naaaah. Hogwarts may be poor sometimes, but it must be safe. Right?
After watching her Lucian assumed Sonea liked pink. She was a girl, and she seemed enthused about the color. Hold it. WHOA! She had a pink rat. AND A BLUE ONE. "RATS! That is cool!" he gushed, studying them. "I like the blue. It's the color of the sky and water. I like painting those," he added randomly. "You're so lucky. My parent's don't let me have small pets." Because he'd lose them. Whatever. "Can I pet one?" Oh pleeease?
Wait. The lake? Ohoohoo! "Really?! You'd show me the lake?" If it were up to him he'd go right now, but it was dark out and he was hungry. "I hope the Giant Squid makes an appearance," he said. Meeting Bartholomew would be like meeting someone famous. Totes.

"That's a great idea!" Why hadn't he thought of that first? His dad would totally freak out. Or at least play along to scare his mom. He laughed a little, then nudged Faylinn's arm and wiggled his eyebrows at the table. "Foooood," he cooed. F.I.N.N.A.L.L.Y.
Lucian nodded at what she said. Yep. Faylinn was definitely a Slytherin to the bone. It was obvious by the confidence on her voice. "Oh! The Ballycastle Bats are cool. I like the Falmouth Falcons." So did his dad and Lucian tended to like anything his dad likes. And word was his mother's cousin was dating one of their players. Which was cool. The knowing a Falmouth Falcon player part. "Does that mean you're trying out for the team this term?" he asked.
Placing a biscuit on his plate, Lucian nodded. "Both my parents are. My mom's like, this famous painter." Which is where he inherited his artistic skills from. "My dad's a professor at Wizarding University." He smirked a little. "My family is well known, can't deny that." There was a hint of pride in his voice. What? The Blackwells were awesome. "What about yours?" he asked. One of them had to be magical...unless she was a muggleborn.
Well there was the headmistress' speech, and thankfully house elves were back, which meant tasty food!!!
But then the Slytherin was surprised by how many changes there were going to be regarding the staff in Hogwarts... though at least it now clarified the reason for so many unknown people being up at the staff table...

"Well, including this year I 'ave 6 years left at Hogwarts" she replied with a smile, quite happy about the fact that she had that long left. Truthfully she didn't ever want to leave!!!

Most all my family played, but I think Caleb and I are going to wait until maybe next year to try out. We're just not into a team thing this year." At least, that's how it was on her part. She narrowed her eyebrows into a look of confusion. "Why would it be so different with Liam?" Was that her brother?
"Hmmm... I understand the waiting to try out, and though I love Quidditch I don't think that I'll be trying out this year either..." she told the younger girl with a small shrug about the entire thing, considering it was something her entire family did why should she bother?
Maybe she was just trying to get her mum annoyed and make a point.
Why would it be so different for Liam? Kahlan let out a small, humourless laugh as she shook her head slightly. "Liams the golden boy" the blonde said, an almost bitter tone in her voice. "The pride and joy of me mother, perfect in school, perfect manners and a professional Quidditch player..."
And who could compare to that?

"That's cool," he said, snapping out of his little day dream. "Is the professor nice, the one in Care of Magical Creatures?" He needed a heads up. If he wanted to get to the Hippogriffs he first needed to go through the caretaker. He looked at the staff table. Hmmm...which of all of those professor could be the COMC one?
What was the CoMC teacher like? Thinking back to the headmistress' announcement the Irish girl had to shrug her shoulders, crinkling her nose in annoyance as she looked up at the staff table.
"There's a visiting Professor, honestly I never met her... the girl replied, turning to face the younger boy, though she was happy for him that he finally had something that he was looking forward to while he was at Hogwarts. [B]"So anything else your looking forward to or just being able to pet a Hippogriff?" Se asked teasingly, though it was still only a maybe.

"So... you have a muggle in you family"Sonea didn't knew what to say about it, she disliked them, and almost everybody knew that, but Kahlan was her friend, so she didn't knew how to respond to the girl about this...
Did she have a muggle in her family? She grinned at the question, shaking her head as she looked up at the other girl. "No, Liam's datin' a muggle though" she answered, a smile on her face as she explained it. Early on in their relationship Kahlan had never liked the idea that he was dating a muggle, but now she'd not just gotten used to the idea, but she also liked learning about the muggle world and how it was all different.
"For me I was lucky I guess, we sort of live in a relatively small place which doesn't have any muggles so we never had to worry about them seeing people flying on brooms or something like that" she mused, thinking about her own home and family life, and all the toys that she had. "It's really good for me family cause all of em like Quidditch and flying in general... I mean I got my first broom when I was... maybe three?"
Her rats listened to her? The idea of a pet listening made Kahlan smile, almost laughing a bit. "Well then your obviously better with animals than I am if I can't even get my cat to listen to me!"
You have bewitched me body and soul, And I love- I love- I love you

"Coma and sit while we're talking!" grinned Sonea. "I'm fine, thanks for asking" lied Sonea again, for the tenth time that day. "My summer was... also... eh, interesting." She hoped that Mack didn't would ask more about her summer so she tried to distract the other girl by asking the same question in return. "And.... How was you summer? You're living with you Gran, right?" she didn't knew it for sure, but she remembered that Mack had told her once that she was living with her grandma, but she didn't remembered more so she guessed.
nod
"Yes, with my gran... Wishing I could live elsewhere..." but hopefully that's all she would have to say.
The blonde Gryffindor could tell that her friend didn't want to speak about summer, so she would skip the questions all together. On to the next subject.
"Are you excited to be back in the castle?" Mack was bouncing in her seat, honestly she was just ready to see the rest of the castle.. And be back in her bed
Adeline looked up as she heard a somewhat familiar voice from across the table. Faylinn! Oh, god, now people were staring! And ouch! Some funny-talking girl beside her just POKED her, ugh!! Faylinn giggled quietly to herself, not trying to be mean, but this girl's idea of the Slytherin house was bit funny. "Adeline... It is Adeline, right?" She asked, making sure she got the girls name right before plunging into speech, "It's not the mean house, and you can make plenty of friends!" Faylinn exclaimed "I mean, I'm in Slytherin and we're friends..." They were friends right? Kind of... perhaps they could become good friends...

Faylinn tried not to attack the piles of food as they appeared on the table like an animal, but she was SOOOOO hungry and everything looked perfect. She immediately piled her plate, then took a sip from her cup with was now full of soda mixed with cherry syrup.
"The Falmouth Falcons? Yeah, they're pretty good! Stepped up their game from a few years ago, used be worse that the Chudely Canons!" She had thought about trying out... "I'm not quite sure, I mean there will be loads of good players...maybe I should just wait till next year, but there is no harm in trying out I guess." Faylinn didn't want to completely embarrass herself is what her overall point is.
The small blonde took a bite of her mashed potatoes and held back a moan. "A painter really? That's cool! I wanted to be a painter once when I was little but I possess not one artistic bone in my body," It was true, sadly. Almost all of Faylinn past works resembled something like a blob... but her father said it was the thought that counts. Whatever. Ahh! A Wizarding Professor! Yes, that would make sense, "My father was briefly the head of the Department of Magical Education before he was switched over to the Department of International Magical Cooperation. And my mother um..." Faylinn took a deep breath before quickly spitting out, "My mother is dead." She then quickly look another bit of mashed potatoes so she wouldn't have the chance to speak.
