Airey arrived at the shore of the Black Lake before the rest of the class to make sure everything was as it should be. The wings for students were each in their respective colored tents, charmed to stay cool so that no premature melting could happen. Nodding approvingly, Airey glanced out at the lake just in time to see a tentacle waving back at him. EXCELLENT! His memo had been received.
He turned around and rocked back and forth while waiting for students to arrive. Once they had, Airey clapped his hands together and used Sonorus to amplify his voice so that there was no doubt his instructions could be heard.
"Alright, now that you all have your goggles on, wands prepared, jawbreakers eaten, and happy memories at your disposal, the last step is to grab a pair of wings and take flight!" he exclaimed. "You all will start out wearing the same colored wings as your house. Gryffindors in red. Hufflepuffs in yellow. Slytherins in green. Ravenclaws in blue. Once you are all airborne, the goal is to 'shoot down' people of your opposing house using Solis Focalis. Now, these wax wings are pretty resilient and it will take TWO hits before they will cease to work and...well...you'll make a big splash." And he gestured towards the lake. "For those of you who are not strong swimmers, have no fear, I asked Bartholomew Henry to assist anyone who seems to be struggling." So, no fear of ending up like Icarus, okay? "Once you have fallen into the lake and swam back to shore, you will need to retrieve a new pair of wings from the tents, but instead of your house color, you must pick wings of the color belonging to the house that just shot you down. For example, if.....Miss Wheatborn and I were dueling in the air," because he was pretty sure that she would just love to have a go at him. "And struck me twice, I would not put on another pair of red Gryffindor wings, but a pair of yellow Hufflepuff wings." Was that clear?
He then took a dramatic step to the side. "The winning house will reive a little something to help them on their quest for the House Cup," he said with some wiggly eyebrow action. "Well, what are you waiting for? Take to the skies!"

OOC Instructions ::
▸ each house is a team & it is each house's goal to convert members of the opposing houses to their team
▸ to do this, you will be using the spell Solis Focalis (which is just a jab with your wand & magnifying glass attachment towards a person)

▸ After you go splash splash, you change teams to the one who "shot you down". So if you are a Gryffindor and were "shot down" by a Ravenclaw, your character IC would grab a pair of blue wings and you OOC would wear the Ravenclaw avatar provided below *points down*

Vesper was trying to be helpful, probably, but Mo just heard NO from her. No, she wouldn't shoot his wing. No, she didn't think it was a big deal that he'd almost killed his mate. No... no. She was gone, her wings blown out while Mo was distracting her.
He was bad luck. He was a BAD LUCK FRIEND.
As if to prove the point, Mo watched Min flick her wand at him from relatively close quarters, and his wings shuddered and dropped him a few feet in the air. He sort of deserved it, though, and Mo saluted the Hufflepuff girl and unfurled his wings, making himself a big target and letting the wind pull him away.

Blue.
Ella was feeling blue so it was sort of fitting that she was shrugging on some blue wings. The blonde adjusted them a bit and then closed her eyes, trying to think of some happy thoughts. Thoughts of Alec seemed to do the trick because before she knew it, she was in the air again. In the air and approaching the girl who thought she was a b- well, you know.
The blonde sort of hesitated on her way by the first year, not knowing what to say. Did people who were bullied by you even want you to talk to them or? Ella didn't know the rules. Were there rules? Maybe she'd get a handbook or something. Frown.

The girl was hit and was falling and, from the look on her face, something told him that he was going to have to be careful. And probably sleep with one eye open. Out of nervous habit, he reached up a hand and ruffled his hair, a small, sheepish expression crossing his face. He could apologise later... maybe. Or maybe he could make both of them some hot chocolate. Or MAYBE he should stop staring at the girl? Yeah? Because staring could be creepy and his middle name was Blake, not Creepy.

Alec BLINKED and turned around to look at-- "AARGH!" EYE! He had been attacked by an EYE? ... No. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a girl. That same girl he had hit before! GULP. Was this revenge? Or had he hit one of her closest friends and now she was getting revenge on her behalf? OR, she could just be ruthless like that. You know, wanting to see the boys go down and gaining Woman Power, or whatever it was.
But this meant one hit and one more and he was going to go plummeting into the lake! He made the two fingers eye-to-eye gesture at the girl, as if he was telling her that he was watching her, before flying away. Backwards. Would she follow? WOULD SHE?
Now that she was back up in the air (with yellow wings), she needed to find a way to get those blue ones back on. She spotted Adrienne and flew up right next to her. "Hey I need your help becoming a Ravvie again!" She shouted a bit over the noise of the activity going on around them. "I'm going to shoot my wings once, then you shoot me the second time so I can become blue again. But first let's go down near the water so it's not as big of a drop." She continued as she slowly lowered herself. Once she had those blue wings back on she could get revenge. But for now... "Solis focalis!" she said carefully pointing at her own wings. "Ok Adrienne! Do it!"
After (successfully) shooting down the attacking Hufflepuff [TakemetotheBurrow] and making her a Ravenclaw, Tora went after the poor Ravvie first year who had to become a puffer. "Hey," she said pulling up next to her. "I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to help make you blue again! Solis Focalis!" She gave a huge smile and then soared away. Best not stay in one place too long or people will shoot at you!
While waiting for Ella to come around, Sophie did look out for people who were donning blue wings and a delighted smile crossed her face as Tora approached. "I'd be honored," she said, turning slightly so the girl could get a better shot of her wings. She closed her eyes instinctively, bracing herself to potentially feel the sunlight graze against her robes, but it was a direct hit on her wings! "Thanks!" And... then the girl was gone. What a nice one, though. Sophie needed to remember to properly introduce herself later.

When Ella did rise into the air, Sophie tried to make eye contact now, steering toward the girl and giving her a light, playful nudge in the side. "Hey. Ella. Don't sweat it. Bully is a term of endearment. I call Mo a bully, too, and he's my house's captain and he's been stickin' up for me all game. I don't really think you're a bully. I doubt you have a mean bone in your body." Pause. Had that actually been encouraging? Was Ella listening to her? Sophie looked away and shrugged, "Y'just startled me. I didn't think you'd target me, is all. I thought we were new besties but if being besties doesn't mean immunity in games like this, I want a rematch." Sophie grinned, her tone light and teasing as she looked up at Ella once more, checking her facial features for signs of... clarity. Did Ella get it? That Sophie wasn't actually mad?
Would they get to hug it out and continue along now?

Adrienne narrowed her eyes. She should probably go get Tora back on their team (especially since she'd gotten to the point of shooting her own wing), but... THIS guy was getting on her nerves. First offering hugs, now trying to act menacing? Was he TRYING to push all of her buttons? Eugh. No way he was getting off the line now. And he was flying backwards...
She cast an apologetic glance back at Tora and her partially-melted wing, and then glared. "SOLIS FOCALIS!" she yelled, pointing her wand directly... at... his... HEAD. Well, the magnifying glass part was closer to his wing. But still.
There were an awful lot of blue AND yellow wings up here, and Tobias didn't want to hit either. If he hit people with blue wings, all he would be doing was dropping them in the lake for them to put blue wings on again. If he hit yellow wings, he'd be converting them to blue and Ravenclaws didn't need any extra people!
FINALLY getting the steering under control, Tobias looked around for someone to shoot a sun beam at but couldn't really pick. He didn't REALLY want to dunk anyone he didn't know, either. Just because. That left only one option. Well. It left a lot of options but only one that he was gonna go with.
"Solis Focalis!" Tobias cast, pointing his wand-and-magnifying glass over his shoulder and aiming at his OWN wing. It worked perfectly, except now he was flying around in circles.
Um.
Okay.
NOW WE WAIT.
And hope for Hufflepuff.

Then again it was understandable. Revenge was a good enough reason for ditching Tora in that particular moment. As long as she became a Ravvie now, it would all be good.

So Sophie wasn't mad. That was good. It didn't mean Ella agreed with her reasoning though and she still sort of felt bad, if only because the younger girl had yelled out that she was a bully for all to hear. Ells had a rep to protect, okay? She also didn't like the word and she had her reasons.
"Please don't call me that again, okay?" She said seriously, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. As for a rematch, the blonde smiled faintly. "I'm up for a rematch if you are." So yeah, they were okay. And to prove it, the blonde awkwardly wrapped an arm around the younger girl in a sort of side-hug. Hugging with wings was hard, okay? She then let go and headed off into the chaos. "See you up there."
Tobias was starting to get a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit dizzy. He didn't really want to try shouting while he was in the predicament so he fired off a spell randomly as he span. That should get someone's attention.

Tora realized just how high up she was a second before Adrienne cast the spell. "Waaaaaaaaaiitt!" she fell all that long way down before landing once again in the lake. Lovely.
But now she was back on BLUE! Score! She laughed with delight as she ran over to the blue wings and pulled a set on. She was so happy she leapt off the ground ready and rearing to go shoot down some puffers!
She swooped by Adrienne and grinned. "Thanks!" she yelled over the wind in her ears.
A potential target that wasn't in the middle of all the chaos! Adrienne had been wondering when she'd hit another Ravenclaw on accident, which would be pretty bad. She leaned around and pointed her wand in his direction, though below her torso she was still facing the Snake she'd just shot at.
"Solis Focalis!" she called, hoping that it would hit.
Suddenly he noticed that he had someones attention. He did his best to dodge the spell, but it was not good. He was hit. "Umph" he moaned as he was hit. Not that it hurt him, but it was his first hit. Trying to retaliate, Asher shouted "Solis Focalis!"

Just across from her was a Hufflepuff boy. She'd seen him around a few times too, this made it perfectly okay. Everything was okay, friend and stranger alike would be aimed at by her. He was going awfully far though, drifting all the way over theeeeere. Would the squid catch him if he was so far away? Maybe he just wouldn't bother, think 'eh, I'll get the next one' or something along those lines. There were certainly enough puffers, they could afford to lose a few.
Locking on him as her new target she drifted over but didn't get very close. This all had to be done real sneaky like or it wouldn't work.
"Solis Focalis!" The casting was perhaps the least sneaky part seeing as the spell had to be said. One day, she would try focusing on some silent casting. It come in handy and in future she'd be less likely to get caught.
Heh, she liked the sound of that.
It was luck and luck alone that allowed Asher to dodge the spell cast his way. He was still off balance from the first hit when the second came at him. Trying to avoid further damage, he started to make his way in a new direction.

"Noooo!" he groaned as he was hit, yet again. This time by blue wings. He felt his body falling towards the water, then SPLASH! He was drenched. Quickly, Asher put on his new BLUE wings and headed out to hopefully be hit by some fellow Hufflepuffs.
Minerva was flying to look for her next target when a huge smile formed. Claudette was back in site. Giggling to herself it had seemed she had been the only one to hit her.. hmm this needed something to happen. The girl should have been a puff anyway so why not.
Minerva flew closer and took aim. "Solis Focalis" She said quickly as close as she could. Crossing her fingers she waited to see if she would hit her target or not. She was ready to see her in some yellow anyway.
Looking around she had to make sure she wasn't hit again now. No she didn't want any other color on her back , well unless it was blue.. She could handle blue

Green eyes darting around, Claudette looked for her next target - someone not wearing blue wings - while she kept her guard up, knowing nonblues were out to get her. And only one more shot was needed to send her plunging into the lake. Catching a movement out of the corner of her eye, she saw Minerva coming up on her side, wand raised. Eeep! She quickly flew forward, dodging the spell, and giggling at the near miss.
"Better luck next time!" she laughed as she circled around, aiming her wand. Though she had to admit it would be fun if they were in the same house, even if only for a game. And her friend was close.. so maybe she could be blue and they would be on the same side. She raised her wand and aimed for the Puff.. but before she could open her mouth to say anything, the French girl felt someone else's spell hit her in the back.
Immediately, she lost her loft and began spiraling downwards, letting out a little scream on her descent. As she headed towards the water, she looked up at her adversary watching the Hufflepuff boy grow smaller and smaller as she neared the lake. "Brooodieee.. whyyyyy.." she called out in mock drama, then laughed at the fun of it all before she hit the lake with a SPLASH!

Nerida had been flying with her blue wings...Hiding from everyone...Until she decided she should probably get out there otherwise she would get noticed...Yeap...Her weird thinking...She stopped suddenly watching someone falling into the water...Funny! She pointed her wand out just out not really trying to get anybody just pointed hopefully straight at someone but if it missed someone oh well at least she could say she shot it. "SOLIS FOCALIS," She looked wondering if she had hit somebody!

Asher took flight with his new blue wings and headed to the middle of the chaos. He had been hit by a fellow puff who used a rather interesting technique. Asher believed he could be successful using the same.
"Here we go" he said as he began to spin around and around. When he had build up enough speed, he started shouting " Solis Focalis" over and over again, hoping to make a hit.
Not knowing what was going on around him and starting to become excessively dizzy, he slowly came to a stop.

Yeah, Penelope was here. She took her time getting her red wings on to watch the others flying around and going crazy. It was really kinda amusing to watch them all trying to knock each other out of the air and fall into the water. Except for Ascanius. Him, she felt bad for. And she wanted to go check on him and make sure he was okay but...she figured it might upset him more to have her fussing over him in front of everyone. So she'd save it for later when they were both on the ground and out of class.
With her wings on and a happy memory in mind, she felt herself floating up with everyone else. Ooo, this was kinda fun, flying without a broom. Could they try this for Quidditch sometime? That would be awesome. She'd suggest it to Alice.
But right, class. This. Focus...

Okay, she had used the spell, and it had worked, so now she NEEDED to get away of this place! So she landed in a few shrubs near the lake and hide there, she now knew that it was better to just wait for the lest to end before she could leave, BUT she would not fall in the lake end get wet! She had already hurt her butt when she had fallen and she didn't wanted to fall again and especially NOT in the lake! There were fishes in the lake and more dirty things, so she decided to stay where she was, hiding and waiting. She had done her part, she had tried to fly, to escape, but she had tried it, and she had used the spell, so she was done now!!! She folded her arms and looked at her two rats who were still hiding inside her pocket. They were also afraid, she was sure of that!!!

HA! That was a hit, just one more until they had another Claw- although, likely, she'd just fly into a group of Slytherins and ask to be hit. Adrienne shrugged. Better to have her for a little while, at least.
She followed the Snake, diving down and then swooping back up (and she'd said this was a dumb activity, and it was, but she had to admit that the flying part was kind of fun). "Solis Focalis!" As if she would let the other girl have even a minute to recover! If she was off-balance, she was more likely to be hit.
Adelaide was so focused on trying to find some Snakes to change her back to green, that she didn't even notice the little Ravenclaw girl from before had snuck back up. Next thing she knew, her wings had been hit and she was falling towards the lake. Again.
Adelaide hit the water hard. She swam up to the surface fast so that she wouldn't lose her breath. This time she was going to take her time getting back to shore. Swimming was a lot of work and she was still exhausted from the first time.
Once on the shore, Adelaide disposed of her yellow wings and went and picked up a pair of blue ones. Blue was one of her favorite colors, but she needed to be green again. The first time was fun, but now, she just wanted her house to win.
Adelaide floated back into the air. "If any Slytherins wanna take a shot: have at it."
NOW she had on the right pair of wings. Not really but come ON, who would complain about flying in blue wings?? She took off again, enjoying every minute of the blue wing flapping, noticing that Alice still wasn't flapping and overall trying to avoid anyone that might try to take her pretty blue wings. Did NO ONE else see how nice they looked????

Kace saw Alexa's look. He shrugged and went on. He missed but he would work on that soon! He was scanning for his next target and gave Alexa a wink and went onto flying. He loved the aspect of having wings. He was flying....flying...and doing some cool tricks mind you.

Then he heard someone casting a spell. He noticed a fellow ravenclaw casting a spell. He had his eyes wide O____O and then he dodged it just by a second. Huh....i guess his quidditch skills worked after all. HA! He did it and went onto flying.

Ughhh the ravenclaw got him. He did get him fair and square. He gave him a curt nod. He swam to shore. He was a decent swimmer and then he got a pair of Blue wings to wear.

After seeing Claudette sneak away from her paint just to get hit by Brodie, Minerva couldn't help but glare at him a bit even if they were on the same team. She watched Claudette hit the lake and hoped she could swim alright and stuff. Once it seemed the younger girl was alright Min got a bit excited to see her in yellow. Which made her totally want to see more blue in yellow.
Not waiting around to see if she got Mo, Min soon found her next target. Another seventh year and another blue. She quietly hummed the jaws theme song as she stalked quietly over towards the girl. Her wings flapping quickly but not letting to much sound go. As she neared the girl she aimed "Solis Focalis" Hopefully that took her by surprise..

Marigold rose up a bit and was immediately confused by all of the different colors. Flying was definitely confusing. She pointed her wand at a random clump of students.
"Solis Focalis!" she shouted, floated closer to them to see if she had hit.
Missed again! Tora growled frustrated balled her free hand into a fist. Why couldn't she hit anyone?! Not only did her shot miss the person she was aiming at, but it also missed the person behind it too!
Suddenly she was jerked out of her rage by a "Hey!". "Wha-" She half turned toward the shout just in time to see a bolt of light coming right at her. She tried to dodge, but it was too late. Luckily it was her first hit and only sent her spinning instead of plunging into the lake.
Boy was that guy going to pay though! She looked for the green wings her attacker. There. She flew way up high and positioned herself directly above him before slowly lowering herself to she was only a couple feet above his head. There was no way she would miss this time. "Solis Focalis," she whispered, no need to give him a heads up and a chance to dodge this one. Heh. Payback.
Lucian smirked as the girl realized it was too late to dodge his spell. It hit and unfortunately she didn't plunge into the lake. He was going to go for another jab when she started circling him. Come on. He was like a snake. Eyes on the prey at all times...but...
What...was...she...doing?
Blue eyes glued on her, Lucian watched as she flew above him. "What are you doing?" he asked, curious. Oh. Uh-uh! She was pointing her wand at him. He wasn't going to stay here like a sitting duck. They were evil and dumb, and he wasn't. "Peace!" He flashed her two fingers, making the peace sign and zoomed off somewhere else.

She felt one of the wings shudder a little from being hit, and she quickly looked around to see if she could spot the culprit. Especially now that she knew the spell...
Aha! That boy with the blue wings. Aiming her magnifying glass wand, she cast, "Solis Focalis!" She waited to see whether it would hit but also tried to keep an eye out for anyone else who tried to attack.
