Oh!

Look at those comics! Peyton recognized those. Her daddy used to read them to her when she was younger and her and her dad were on the road 'cause of his professional Quidditch career. Ah. The memories.

She raised her hand and said, "One of them is Martin Miggs from Adventures of Martin Miggs, the Mad Muggle," she said, then continues. "The other is Loony Nonby from Loony Nonby v.s. Cornish Pixie."

Laura looked at the boy and smiled, he was kind of cute, but she wasn't going to say that to anyone, not since she went out with Mick but she could think it right, anyway back to the lesson and whatever the boy was talking about, she didn't really read Wizard comic books. "Is it Fighter Ben and his amazing wand?" Laura decided that she would have a guess.

Obviously West knew the answer to THAT question, since he owned all of the comics in both of those series.

And it was a big part of why he was disparaging of the Librarian, who DIDN'T know who they were.

"Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby, but they aren't superheros." West pointed out, hand up.

Muggle superheros. And wasn't the name of the class History of Magic. The stuff that the professor had, hopefully, instructed his son to teach was material worthy of a Muggle Studies class not History of Magic. And the point that the son was teaching just made the teaching even lower. How was she supposed to evaluate a teacher that didn't even teach?

Then the little boy finally said that he was finished and rolled away. Now the teacher was actually teaching. Amelia sat up a little further in her seat and listened closely so that she could hear what the actual teacher had to say. And it was finally Magic related not Muggle.

Well, wizard comics were a bit easier to Kat. She didn't need Muggle Studies to teach her these stuff. She was a pureblood witch and when she was still ickle, she loved to read books. Comics, actually. They were more interesting than books, says the brain of eight year old Katrina. That was the past, and with those experiences she learnt some stuff that were actually useful now.

BUT AWWW, KYROH WAS GONNA STOP BEING CUTE TALKING.

And now they had Scabior. That meant serious business already, yes. He showed wizard comic books. They were the same ones Kat used to like reading when she was a baby witch. Since she knew them without even thinking, Kat raised her hand. "That's Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby," she answered. It was obvious though. It's not like they couldn't read it on the front cover.

Oakey kept himself quiet as hard as he could when Everyone started talking about Batman. He knew that he started about the Dark Knight he would not shut up. So he just had this huge smile on his face.

Once Kyroh was done, and he went back to spinning in his chair Professor Scabior took over and held up two more comics. "The characters in those comics are in the titles of them, Martin Miggs, and Loony Nonby." Oakey nodded as he looked over the covers of the comics. A lot of comics were named after their main characters, it seemed common place.

Well Nigel would not be a very good wizard if he just read miggle comics. He would of course have to read wizard comics.

"That is Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby".

Martin was a pretty funny muggle. But he still liked muggle comics better.

After an eternity of just staring blankly at Kyroh and not knowing the answer, Elise was relieved when Professor Scabior Senior walked up to the front of the class. And then he held up two comics that Elise KNEW. Elise knew Wizarding comics, mainly because she hadn't been raised by Muggles. Nope. Her parents were both Magical and her father was somewhat Muggle-phobic.

Grinning, Elise waved her hand all around for a moment before stilling it. She looked silly like that, anyway. "They're Martin Miggs and Loony Nooby!" Obviously, she was still excited about knowing something. Yup.

She was PUMPED! In History of Magic?

Rachel smiled as Kyroh sat down, looking really tired of talking and drinking water from a bottle like it was the last amount of water he would ever drink. Ever.

The girl was still taking notes of what he had said when Professor Scabior started talking again. And the question he made was quite... obvious. It was like asking about Babbitty Rabitty -> every single kid in the wizarding world knew their names.

- The first one is Martin Miggs... - said the girl after raising her hand - ... and the other one is Loony Nonby!

Rachel was so happy she finally knew the answer to a question!

Sarah knew these, having lots of brothers and being a readaholic had its great points. She raised her hand. "The main character in Martin Miggs the mad muggle is Martin Miggs himself, while in Loony Nonby v.s. Cornish Pixie, the main character- the one that is bothered by the pixies is Loony Nonby" Sarah said.

Susan enjoyed the professors son teaching...he was so full of energy you just kept getting sucked in. Even though Susan had no idea about the comics or the Superheros she enjoyed learning about them.

The Professor held up some comic books she actually knew a little bit about. It was still only a small amount since she didn't really read comics at all. They just weren't her thing.

Susan raised her hand, "Those comics are about Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby." Susan couldn't really go into to much more detail than that since she never really did read the comics. But she did read the cover of them just now, so did that count for something?

Ella actually didn't know too much about wizard comics. She mostly read her Dad's old ones and he was a muggle so...she wasn't exactly sure who those characters were. Strange really, as most of her classmates seemed to. Meh.

Instead of offering a guess or repeating answers, the blonde simply scribbled down notes, starring things she didn't know. Which...would be a lot because yeah, she wasn't a wizard comic expert or anything.

Alice scribbled down what the boy said about Batman. HE was kinda boring, and she would much prefer learning about the Hulk. But apparently, they had moved on to wizarding comics now? And she wasn't familiar with any of those. Loony Nonby? What kind of name WAS that? Martin Miggs sounded a bit familiar, but she still had no idea what it was. So she just sat.

And listened.

And wrote.

And stared.

Sierra stared at the two comic books. Truth be told, she really couldn't see them from where she was sitting. She squinted her eyes and tried not to hear too many of the comments coming from her classmates. Finally, she managed to pick up a word or two that struck realization in her. Oh, yeah! "Martin Miggs," she said, raising her hand. She wasn't really a fan, though. Come to think of it, she wasn't really a fan of any comic book characters. The professors sure seemed to love them, though.

Yeah...

Superman, Spiderman, Batman, comic books...whatever.

Rich had had enough of them for the rest of this day. Apparently the History of Magic was boring even when it was not about the history. Scabior was a cool man, no doubt, he was just unlucky that his fate brought him to this subject and gave him a son. Not that he thought having a son was a bad thing but having son that spoke too much was a trouble. Richard yawned as he eyed the kid. Why was he not playing with his toys in a corner and remain silent? Was not that what kids usually did? No wait...kids usually were loud and kinda caused trouble. What he thought was actually what kids were supposed to do.

Meh...whatever.

Looking up lazily, the Slytherin eyed the comic books the professor showed to the class. Well...no doubt they were familiar but he could not call any names right now. Not to mention everyone had already gave the answers anyway. Yawning a bit...he focused his interest on his quill instead and started to play with it.

Minerva was so over this lesson.. Comic books were so dumb and boring. Now they should be talking about something more interesting, like where the heck did this kid come from all of the sudden. Who would have guess Professor Scabiors would even have a child. The kid was a cutie pie though Min would at least say that. He must get it from his mother.

Now Scabs was finally standing up, oh good they were going to actually start a lesson. MORE BOOKS.... rolling her eyes at her parchment she leaned back in her chair, she had no clue what comics those were so she looked around the room. Now there was another more interesting topic, these board people. She wondered what they thought of this lesson of comic books. Looking back up front, Minerva jotted the name people were saying on her parchment, so these were wizard comic books... Still not really interested.

Awww, was Kyroh done now? That was too bad. She was actually enjoying the super hero talk.

She eyed Professor Scabior as he took Kyroh's spot. She braced herself for some long history lecture but was pleasantly surprized to see him pull out MORE comic books. He was even asking about their heroes. Eeeeep! Did this mean this was how the class would continue?? She liked the sound of that very much!!!

After taking a careful look she raised her hand. "Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby, right?" Will had a whole bunch of their comics...she wasn't sure whether or not he still read them though; now a days he just kept saying how grown up he was, bleh.

Nina didn't find the point of all this comic books conversation with History of Magic but something must be related between them, Scabior wouldn't be talking about this otherwise.

After Kyroh was done with his questions, the professor showed them another two comic books, to be true she preferred the muggle comic books. The Slytherin raised her hand "Loony Nonby" she answered.

OH OH! Alex knew who that was! He raised his hand in the air in excitement. "Those guys are Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby! I used to read them all the time," he said with a grin.

Nolan perked up in his chair a bit. Ok, now they were getting in to the history bit of the lesson. About time. He glanced around the room and noticed a young brown haired girl staring at his bowtie.

What? Bowties were COOL!

"No, it's not." Scabior shook his head.

Of course West would add that little tidbit. But He had been hoping someone would. "Thank Mr. Odessa for pointing that out." It was true.

Martin was so much better than Nonby. Kyroh lowered his water bottle and looked at the class before sneaking one of the wizard comics from the desk and starting to real. Hehe.

"The majority of you are correct. The two main characters of these comics happen to be Martin Miggs and Loony Nonby. The comics themselves are titled The Adventures of Martin Miggs, the Mad Muggle, and Loony Nonby vs. Cornish Pixie. The most popular ones in the Wizarding World. "One is about a crazy Muggle an the other a guy facing off against a pixie, and losing the majority of the time." Scabior paused for a few seconds to throw one of the books back on his desk. "And just like Mr. Odessa said, they are not superheroes." So WHY were they talking about them?

"Despite that fact. The number of people who actually read these comics in the Wizarding world are almost identical to the number of Muggles who read those-" He motioned to the board. "-comics. And yet they are not about people who can fly, or who have heat vision or who can climb walls, or who have a lot of money."

"Using the same medium-" i.e comics "-Yet in a completely different way." He was speaking slowly, just so they could get everything he was saying. "Now any guesses as to why both are able to sell in their respective communities? Why don't Muggles have comics about crazy Muggles? And why don't we have comics about men that can fly?"

Alyssa took her time to figure out the answer to Professor Scabior's question. When she thought of a possible answer, she raised her hand. "Professor, I believe that the reason why both types of comics are popular in their respective communities is because people like to be entertained by the impossible." Alyssa stopped for awhile in order to figure out how to make her answer more logical and understandable

"Muggles want to read about things that won't possibly happen to them. Like really, the possibility of a muggle acquiring any super powers is totally nil."

"Likewise for us wizarding folk. We don't want to read about the things that we can do in comics. We can read about it in the newspapers. We want to read about the funny things that Muggles would do, that we wouldn't do."

Did she make sense? Alyssa hoped she did.

Minerva sighed and put up her hand. "Professor why would muggles want to write about crazy muggles, with all the violence and crazy real life muggles you don't need books. Muggles want something different, something to save them. Wizards see people flying all the time on brooms, so there is no need to write about flying people. They don't see crazy muggles, so it all comes down to both wanting entertained." Minerva put her hand down and went back to drawing hearts and initials on her parchment.

Ella thought over Professor Scabior's point for a while, trying to formulate a good answer. People liked to read about things they weren't used to happening in their own life, yeah? It made for interesting reading and allowed readers to escape from their lives for a while? At least that's what Ella liked to do when she would read certain stories or comics.

"Professor, I think there is something really erm intriguing about reading about a character who is unlike yourself. It grabs your attention because you're introduced to worlds you don't know a lot about. I guess that's why Muggles enjoy tales of superheroes with powers and wizards enjoy reading about Muggles?" Did that... make any sense at all? Ella hoped so.

And there the Professor went giving those long speech thingies again. Luckily she was able to keep up with what he was saying!

She thought about his question...quite an odd question if she did say so herself. Slowly she raised her hand but then she quickly lowered it. The answer in her head wasn't done yet. She needed to give it a but more thooooought. No need to go giving a dumb answer now was there? Nope.

She rocked back in her chair and gave it a bit more thought. Finally she had the answer!!

"I got it! So, you see, Muggles have very boring lives. They can't do magic and nothing epic ever really happens to them! See, because they realized this they had to go and make up people who can do cool stuff to fill that empty void or whatever it's called. On the other hand WE already have a lot of epic stuff so we don't need to go writing about stuff that doesn't exist!"

Logic right there.

Was he supposed to be taking notes in this class? Ethan hoped not, because he had been spending the majority of the class doodling on his parchment.. and not really doodles of superheroes either. The sixth year knew a little bit about comic book heroes, thanks to Cerulean's lesson's last term, but the interest hadn't gone much further than that. Besides, most of his classmates had been more than eager to answer and he didn't feel like echoing them. Though the prospect of earning a chocolate frog was a bit enticing..

..but that seemed to have stopped now and the doodling continued. He glanced up at the mention of the wizarding comics. He knew of those but didn't really care about them. Ethan thought they were pretty dumb the first time he read one and he wasn't much of a reader anyway. Thinking about the question for a moment, Ethan raised his hand. "I guess it's about wanting to be entertained by what each respective community considers to be fantasy.. something different than their ordinary lives. Or else it feels more like non-fiction." Which was okay in its own right.. depending on the subject, but that's not really what they were talking about it.
