Hecate looked even worse for the wear. She was quite thin, and her breath could no longer be covered up with a mind. She was now taking a potion for it.
Still she was going to keep going in the way she knew. She wrote on the board "Truth Serums" and underlined it.
She returned at back of her desk and sat in her chair.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

That was easy enough. This whole potion was pretty easy... Theo stirred the potion counter-clockwise, making sure he had his directions correct first. Yep, ready to go. And with his free hand, he picked up the bottle of Jobberknoll blood and tipped it VERY slowly to begin with, cos he wasn't sure how quickly it would pour out. It was quite slow anyway, so he tipped it a bit further.
He smiled at the red circles forming in his cauldron, because that meant he was actually doing it right. Once the whole cup of blood was empty, Theo rested it on the desk and continued stirring.

Those wings and leaves, where were theeeeey? Theo's eyes danced around his batch of ingredients until he spotted them. One at a time would probably be safest. The second year pulled out four Billywig Wings and crushed them into one hand, then he pulled out 3 Belladonna leaves with his OTHER hand and did the same.
Violaaaaa - Theodore sprinkled the contents of both hands into the cauldron and watched it like a hawk. This was going well, he thought.

Cassia always wondered why did it matter how they stirred. Conterclock or not the idea is about stirring ,right? She thought of asking but she didn't want to risk in case the reason was obvious and it was only her that had no clue .So counter-clock she shall stir. Reaching for the spoon she started stirring. Though it took her a second to define the direction but she made sure after seeing the other students. And while her right hand stirred, she reached for the blood with her left one after having opened the cap earlier. She kept her eyes on the liquid watching how red circles were formed. So she was doing well.
When Lafay spoke again Cassia kept stirring absent-mindedly watching how the woman crushed the leaves. The second-year didn't like this step because she didn't like leaves or any other plants' parts. Putting the spoon aside she started looking for the leaves none too enthusiastically. And after finding them she brought them above the cauldron and started crushing them not caring what fell into the cauldron. Who cares!
The she reached for a handkerchief and wiped her hands after having touched the leaves. The look on her face only showed that she didn't enjoy the last step. The one which included interacting with the leaves.

Ingredients
Water
8 drops of Essence of Wormwood
One cup of Jobberknoll blood
4 Billywig Wings
3 Belladonna leaves
2 tablespoons of poppy seeds
7 Sprigs of Valerian
5 leeches
Directions
Clean your cauldron {scourgify}
Fill your cauldron with water {arguementi}
Start your burners {incendio}
Add in the 8 drops of wormwood essence, one at a time
Stir brew in anti-clockwise motion
while the motion is in motion, slowly add Jobberknoll blood (it should looks like a low and slow stream into potion. You will see the red making circles in the liquid)
Taking the four Billyeig wings and 3 Belladonna leaves, crush them loosely in your hands (over potion?) allowing the brittle bits to fall into potion
Sarah took the four billywig wings and the belladonna leaves in her hands and began to rub her hands vigoursly over the potion allowing the bits to fall into her potion. Sarah was used to the feeling of the crumpled leaves yet the Billywig wings gave her the shivers. One generally respecs animals more then plants and Sarah felt bad for the poor creatures whose wings she was crumbling.

Great they were finally moving on. She needed something else in her cauldron to get her mind of the blood that was circling in her cauldron right now. She looked at it and felt queasy. Her attention back on the professor, she listened to what was needed next.
She took the 4 Billywig Wings and the 3 Belladonna leaves, and crushed them loosely in her hands hands. This was definitely taking her mind off the blood and a good thing too. She let the crushed pieces fall into the cauldron. She looked at her potion and was glad that the newly added ingedients masked the whole blood thing. Gulp.

Minerva was glad that the blood was over and the smell was finally leaving. She took a few deep breaths trying to make sure she wasn't going to pass out or get sick and that's when she heard Ethan ask if she was alright. Well even feeling green didn't stop her from turning red. Oh Min, get it together, she thought. Whispering "I..I'm fi..I'll be fine, promise.." she gave a weak smile and turned back to her potion.
Lafay started to speak and Minerva tried to focus on her even though for a moment she felt like Lafay was speaking through a tunnel. Pushing herself to focus she heard the next step and looked back to her ingredients. Pulling up the Billywig Wings and the 3 Belladonna leaves. Crushing them in her hands, Minerva made sure they were crushed properly then she let them fall into the cauldron.
"Good," she said to the others. "Now begin stirring your potion in a counter-clock motion. As the motion is in motion, slowly add your Jobberknoll blood. It should be a low and slow stream into the moving potion. You will see the red making circles in the water."
Seri obeyed, stirring her potion, but leaving the bit about blood, she just pushed it a little nearer the edge of the desk, and futher away from her. She kept stirring, pretending she could see red swirls or something. Seri actually might have used it, but this Professor annoyed her.
Then Seri took the Billywig wings and Belladonna and crushed them over the potion, as the Professor had displayed.

Nigel was a little behind. So he began to stir his potion slowly in a counter clockwise motion. Following what Lafay was doing. He slowly added his Jobberknoll blood. It looked just like Lafay's with the red making circles in the water. Immediately after the last instruction he took the 4 Billywig Wings and the 3 Belladonna leaves, and crushed them loosely in his hands. While letting the brittled pieces fall in the cauldron. Once he was sure he did it correctly. He sat patiently for what was to come next.

Sophie was neervooous. She didn't know whether she had gotten the number of wormwood drops right and she feared professor Lafay's reaction if she told her she might have messed up already.
After thinking for a while, she decided to just go on with the brewing. Maybe if she got everything right from now on she could still save the Potion? Or maybee she had gotten the 8 drops and didn't have to worry... she just hoped for the best.
Deep breath. So onto the next step.
The badger cleaned the wooden stirrer and placed it inside her cauldron, staring at it for a second. Counter-clock motion. She pictured a clock in her mind to make sure which way was counter-clockwise and started stirring the Potion in that direction with her left hand.
Grabbing the Jobberknoll blood pot thingy with her right hand, Sophie slooowly added its content in her Potion, watching the red circles in the water. It actually looked quite pretty, even though it was blood. The red colour was really beautiful.
So far so good! Hopefully...
Now the Billywig Wings and Belladonna leaves. The thirteen year-old held them all together above her cauldron and started crushing them loosely, as the Slytherin Head of House had demonstrated, letting the pieces fall in her Potion.
Gulp. Would she get the Potion right?? She was still feeling nervous about this...

Ella scribbled down the next set of instructions, watching carefully as Professor Lafay demonstrated how to crush the ingredients in one's hands. She then picked out 4 billywig wings, working on crushing those first. She rubbed her hands together over the cauldron, watching as the crushed bits fell into it rather easily. Next came the Belladonna leaves, which Ella grabbed 3 of. She placed them in her hands and began to crush those as well, letting them fall into the cauldron too. When she was done, she crossed those steps off her list and looked up at the Professor again, waiting for further instructions.

She heard the woman mention the discovery of mixing Belladonna and Poppies by muggles? The Ravenclaw's ears perked up. Muggles discovered it? How exactly? She was about to ask the Professor when the woman told them to get their ingredients. Okay, she can just ask her about that later then.
With the cue, Beezus went and grabbed the necessary ingredients from the closet before carefully making her way back to her workplace and ever painstakingly settling them down. Good. Nothing broken yet. That was a good sign.
Narrowing her eyes at Dylan (Seriously? She knew she was clumsy with cauldrons, but to constantly give her THE LOOK? ..Pfft..), the brunette then pointed her wand at the cauldron. Deep breaths first before doing anything though. Cauldrons were her hazard zone. Cautiously, she took note of the 5C's then filled the vessel with water, "Aguamenti." After so, muttering a quick 'Finite' to stop the spate of water before lighting the burner underneath as they were told to do so.
Hmm. Her ingredient came first, they need to drop the essence into the cauldron. Gulping somewhat, she uncovered the bottle of Wormwood essence and brought it above the cauldron. Then with a slightly shaky hand, she watched and counted as drops fell into the water.
Successful with the first step, Beezus exhaled laboriously and looked at the Slytherin Captain in hope of getting a stamp of approval or encouragement from him.
Next was to stir the potion and add the Jobberknoll blood.
Following the instructions, the Ravenclaw began to stir the mixture in a counterclockwise motion. However, the next part didn't came off easy. She went a little pale and even gagged as she added in the Jobberknoll blood. It was making her stomach retch into knots. Shaking her head slightly, she indeed saw the blood creating circles in the water and she covered her mouth again.
At least that step was done.
Yes, he seen Bee giving him the same pointed looks in return. Dylan couldn't have cared less, though. She'd complained on several occasions about being awful at Potions...So, he was doing her a service. Winks for you, Bee.
Moving on.
They were adding the Jobberknoll blood now. It was amusing that they were using this particular ingredient...considering the entire Hogwarts population of Jobberknolls had died/been killed. Dylan wasn't too clear on the details...Meh.
Picking up the crystal stirring rod he'd laid to the side earlier (it had gotten scourgified), the Captain slowly dipped it down into the concoction. Slowly because he didn't want to disturb it too much before he actually began stirring. In the next moment, he began the motion of counter-clockwise, watching the liquid funnel a bit in the center. Continuing to do so, he reached to grab the cup of deep red fluid with his other hand, carefully moving it towards the top of the cauldron. Tipping it just a bit, the blood began to seep down, mixing with the potion in an interesting way. It seemed to move with the funneling potion, maybe the circles his Head of House had mentioned. Yep, this looked correct according to her directions.
More eyes for Bee...Was she understanding all of this?

Dylan couldn't help but to grin. No guess work. Not with Professor Lafay. Yes, he was sighing in relief.
Picking up the wings and leaves he'd collected earlier, the Slytherin set about crumbling them up over his cauldron. It was fun for the Captain...because it was something he used to do back home when the leaves were changing for winter. His father would rake them together...and he'd go and break them up. Nostalgia.
Once the step was completed to the best of his ability, Dylan pulled his notebook and began writing things down.

In her HANDS?! Sierra blinked as she looked at the Billywig wings. Everytime she thought of Billywigs, she thought of getting stung and becoming giddy and levitated, but these...these were just the wings. Sierra scooped them up along with the Belladonna leaves and began to crush them in her hands. She watched as the brittle pieces fell into the cauldron.

Eliza looked at her table and counted the wings and leaves to double check she had the right amount. She wasn't too keen on mashing them up in her bare hands though, so she checked her bag to see if she had thought to pack any gloves. Maybe I left some in from last time... she hoped as she dug through the sack. I really need to clean this out again... Why was it that no matter what size the bag was, she was always able to fill it? Aha! She had finally found a pair of gloves, but they were a bit linty. She held them up and gave them a quick cleaning. "Scourgify, she said almost in a whisper. The classroom had grown very quiet now that everyone was busy brewing. She didn't want to be a distraction. Now that she felt ready to move on, she picked up the pieces and crumbled them in her hands. The crunching sound of the leaves was one that she'd always loved. Fall was one of her favorite times of the year and now that Winter was upon them, she missed the sound of dry leaves underfoot. The crunching of the billywig wings on the other hand was a bit disturbing. She'd much rather they were alive and buzzing around, going about their business, than dismembered in her potion. But that was the way of it, so she went on crushing and watched the thin pieces flutter down into the potion as she brushed her hands together.

A twirl of red present within the potion.
Now for the next step. Holding out one hand, Gideon first took the billywig wings from where he had collected with his other hand. He then placed it in his outstretched hand before reaching for the belladonna leaves. Adding them to the hand held horizontal, the seventh year then joined both hands together, moving them over his cauldron. Should we be wearing gloves?, she wondered, just looking down at the delicate wings for a second. It was kind of too late for that now, unless she wanted to put the wings down again to slip her gloves on, and that might contaminate them. If she'd learned anything from Potions lessons, it was that contamination was the last thing she wanted to risk. Therefore, she was just going to have to make sure to try and get as much of the crumbly materials off her hands an into the potion, and then maybe clean her hands before moving on. It sort of depended on if she had time before the next step was introduced, and if it needed clean hands.
Either way, she added the belladonna leaves to the wings in the palm of her hand, getting that much more nervous since it was that ingredient that had made her more worried than the billywig wings. She definitely wasn't going to eat anything until she'd washed her hands a lot now, but she pushed her nervousness back long enough to curl her fingers together around both wings and leaves before holding the fist over her cauldron. Clasping her other hand around her fist, she crushed the ingredients a tiny bit more before opening her hands to tip the crumbs into the liquid. Trying to not look to see if there was still visible blood in the potion, too. Brushing her hands together to get as many remnants as she could, she sat back again finally to add to her notes. At least there weren't too many more ingredients to worry about.

5 leeches
Directions
Clean your cauldron {scourgify}
Fill your cauldron with water {arguementi}
Start your burners {incendio}

Gulp.

Start grinding them down to a dust and then breaking up with your hand the seven sprigs of Valerian, put them in the morter. Then crush it together with the poppy dust. Be sure to then add the contents to your potions." And she demonstrated it all.
Tay took out the mortar and pestle from her potions kit and scourified them both. She measured out two tablespoons of poppyseeds and poured it into it. Taylor grinded the poppyseeds until they were fine dust then she brought up seven springs of Valerian. Tay placed them in the mortar as well then crusted it with the poppy dust. She poured it all in the potions and glanced up at the professor. She sighed, waiting on the next set of instructions. Taylor was starting to tune the professor out and make a drawing on her parchment that had her ingredient list on it.
Angelina took out the mortar and pestle and cleaned to anyways just to make sure. She then started measuring the two tablespoons of poppyseed. Once she got the two tablespoons she poured it into the the mortar. She took the pestle and started to crush them into fine dust. When the fine dust was there insides of the two tablespoons of poppyseed she got the seven springs of Valerian. With the seven springs of Valerian she crushed it down with the dust of poppyseed. After that was completed Angelina placed the dust into the cauldron. She cleaned a little of her area up while she waited for Professor Lafay to continue.

That done, he took the valerian roots in hand hands and broke them into pieces then added them to the mortar. He crushed the two together then added the mixture to his potion.

Hmm alright more crushing of stuff.
He drew the mortar and pestle closer to himself and started scourgifying them, then set his wand aside to reach out for the next ingredients. It was then that he realized that if they were to crush these things into fine dust then there would be particles of this floating in the air...
..... Poppy dust... danger of inhaling? Yeah he knows what to do....
He set the ingredients aside for a moment and went looking for his mask. Securing it over the lower half of his face he made sure it was nice and snug. He even went ahead and slipped his lab goggles over his glasses.
Now that he was pretty secured from the possible effects of dust particles he reached for the poppy seeds and started measuring it out, tipping it into the mortar and started grinding it with the pestle. After a while he scourgified his gloves again to pick apart the Valerian sprigs then adding them all into the mortar, grinding them down even further.
Peering into the mortar he can see the fine particles catching the faint light of the Potions classroom. He lifted it and carefully tipped the contents over the cauldron, watching the powder melt into the liquid...

Things were almost too quiet. After the water incident, it seemed like everyone was too scared to do anything wrong. Kendall didn't mind, since it meant she could continue to not acknowledge the scariness of Professor Lafay's current appearance, and how zombie-like it was becoming. She'd been a little afraid of the woman since first year, but this was too much. And if they kept working with poisonous stuff, that feeling wouldn't go away soon. She could hope the zombie part did, and that was the only reason she was so determined to try and ignore it. Besides, so far the brewing process hadn't really been that difficult, other than having to use blood. She was past that, and she carefully cleaned her hands of belladonna as the next steps were explained. At least she could do that without worrying about missing anything.
Once they'd been instructed on the steps, she slid her mortar and pestle over in front of herself. Scourgifying both before she measured out two tablespoons of poppy seeds into the mortar. Time to crush, she said silently, picking up the pestle and grinding the seeds down. It didn't take long, since the seeds hadn't been very big to begin with, so before long she'd moved to the valerian sprigs. Breaking them apart, she added the bits into the mortar, then crushed them as well before just looking at the oddly pretty dust that had been created. At least something looked interesting, but she picked up the mortar and let the dust fall into the potion. It didn't seem like stirring was needed, so once that was done she Scourgified her mortar and pestle again before moving back to her notes. Time for more active ignoring of theories while she waited for leeches.

The lioness took her mortar and pestle along and cleaned them with specific care so that they would be shining in their right place. Thanks to her. Smiles. Then she put two tablespoons of seeds into it and started grinding them till they have all become dust. Putting some of them and mix them with Valerian, she put them safely in the morter and crushed it hard.
Right. It was easy to follow up till now and it seemed like everyone else was still working on their potions so Tiffany would just take this time being to fill in her Potion journal then as she was waiting for a further demonstration from the professor.

Kat took out her mortar and pestle. They were supposed to go pounding on the poppy seeds and Valerian sprigs. Cool. First of all, she casted Scourgify on the mortar just in case Lafay's inner neat freak bursts. She took the two tablespoons of poppy seeds and placed them inside her clean mortar and crushed it into dust.
Crush. Crush. Crush. CRUSH.
After crushing the seed into dust, Kat then broke apart the Valerian Sprigs and added it into the mortar. More crushing this time. Except with thr dust + sprigs.
Crush. Crush. Crush. CRUSH.
Finally, Kat placed inside her cauldron the crushed ingredients. Well... That's it for now. While waiting for thr next set of ingredients, Kat scribbled more notes in her parchment.
