Nigel walked into Potions expecting Lafay to be feeling better not worse. It looked like she should see a healer. But that was not for Nigel to decide. "Hello, Professor Lafay." He then turned to the board as he walked to his seat. So Truth Serum today. That sounded interesting.

Potions. Hannah walked into the classroom and looked around. No familiar faces so far. She nodded at the professor and gave her a polite smile. "Hello professor." Was it just her or did she look like death? Still she gave nothing away and pried her eyes away from her so she wouldn't be tempted to stare.

She chose a seat and pulled out some parchment. She wrote down what was on the board...Truth Serums. Don't look at her Hannah...she kept scolding herself quietly. She stared at her parchment and hoped that the lesson would start soon!

pooootions!

Last class had actually been somewhat enjoyable. SO potions was on Elliot's good side right now...it better not mess that up today! She saw Hannah and took a spot near her, smirking at her...eheheh. She liked sitting next to Hannah in classes...and being able to send her thoughts to just by GIVING her looks...hehe...

"Professor," she nodded...and Lafay...looked...awful. The poor...woman. What was WRONG with her?! Seriously...should she even be teaching? How could the school let her?! She needed to be in bed...at home...! She was never going to get better if not...? She frowned a bit before looking back at Hannah quizzically...

Kurumi had momentarily turned her attention to her parchment, just long enough to write her name, the date, her house, and then the subject matter of the lesson before Lewis pulled her away from her thoughts. She didn't greet him with the usual blushing smile - there was no way she could after the question he had asked and the quick glance she had taken towards Professor Lafay again.

Chewing on her lip for a moment, the Gryffindor thought back on the conversation she had had with Sierra. The Slytherin said that her mother was going to be fine, that she was getting better...but it was becoming clear now that she wasn't and was getting worse. Kurumi glanced over her shoulder at Sierra again and felt as though she were watching herself a few terms ago. Violet eyes back on Lewis now, Kurumi scooted her chair a little closer to him and lowered her voice. "She wouldn't accept any help last lesson," she whispered. Not to mention that the woman often assumed that such offers were people's way of brown nosing. "Maybe we should just be sure to keep an extra close eye on everyone while we brew a potion? Assuming we do that is. Make sure that something bad doesn't happen that could cause her stress?"

Minerva walked into potions. She stopped when she saw Professor Lafay, she looked horrible, but Minerva tried to stop looking so worried and placed a small smile on her face. If there was one thing Lafay didn't like it was questions about her personal life from students. "Good Day Professor." she said quietly and then turned to find a desk.

Once she found her seat she pulled her parchment out and got ready for the lesson to begin. That's when she saw it. The words on the board. TRUTH SERUM.. Was that even a good thing to teach students. Minerva's mind went back to the hate potion from first year. This class could get really interesting. Glancing at some of the students she grinned, yes there could be some good truths coming out of this room if they had to drink it.

Time for another Potions class already?

Ethan dragged himself along the dungeon corridor, doing his best to wake up. The morning coffee just wasn't doing it today. He hadn't been sleeping well.. ever since he took that Dreamer's Elixer they brewed in the last class and had the same disturbing dream every night for the past week. And his lack of sleep was quite apparent from the bags under his eyes.

"Morning Professor," he mumbled as he walked past, vaguely aware of her presence. He didn't really notice how awful she looked.. he felt much like a walking inferi as he trudged through the room. Also not really noticing if there were any familiar faces in the class as he was too exhausted to pay that much attention to that kind of thing, Ethan took the nearest empty seat, unaware of who he was sitting next to.

The boy really needed a good night's sleep.. and he was contemplating brewing another potion after class for that purpose. His eyes focused on some distant point at the edge of the classroom, not seeing what was written on the board. If he had seen it, he was sure he wouldn't have liked it.

Potions... Sarah came into the room rather curious to see how bad the teacher looked. And she did look bad. Sarah said "Good Day Professor" and found a seat. She then took out her note book and titled the page Truth Serum. She wondered what they were to learn that day... would they really make a truth potion... is it not like illegal. And then she remembered something... the jobberknolls that had been found dead in barn.... jobberknoll feathers were used in memory and truth potions. Had Lafay... oh no, Sarah was freaking out. She had done last yours harvesting assignment on jobberknolls, had she given Lafay the idea? Lafay was the kind of person to do that

Belle was excited to go to potions. She loved going to this class. She especially enjoyed last lesson. She wondered what they were going to make this time. She looked at the board and saw Truth Serum. Hmmm now that was interesting..

As Belle entered the dungeons, she felt so cold. Her hands felt like icicles. She fished in her backpack for some gloves and found some. Then after she put on her warm gloves, Belle greeted the professor, "Good Day Professor, how are you doing?"

As Belle found her seat, she sat down on the cold chair. Her teeth was chattering but she just have to go get used to the temperature. Oh she wished she was in the common room near the fireplace right now.

Richard seemed to be in a good mood as he walked into the Potions Classroom. He had been in a need of good night's rest and playing his guitar some before going to sleep that night had apparently done him good. He felt prepared for the class, so he was.

''Hello, professor.'' he said to the woman before looking at the board. Truth serums. Well...well...well. This was the kind of potions that should not be in wrong hands. Actually, the last thing he wanted was to be a victim of its use so he hoped the potions mistress would not want the students to try it once it was done. Especially not in the class. That could be a huge disaster.

After he managed to take his mind away from the possible disasters that kind of a potion could cause, he looked at the whole class to choose himself a good enough place to get seated. And he saw Ariana. Yes, perfect place to sit. Directly he walked to her ''Miss Logan.'' he said with a smirk and sat down next to her.

As always whatever mood Gideon might happen to be in one of his favorite classes being held tended to work on improving it. So the seventh year was glad to see the notice for the next potions lesson go up. Nothing like drowning one's thoughts, unpleasant or otherwise in the brewing of a potion.

He made his way down to the dungeons, the only downfall of the class and walked down the corridor to the classroom. Stepping inside, Gideon took note of his surroundings including the professor there. The Gryffindor might have paid more attention to the topic of the lesson had Professor Lafay not looked downright terrible. Whatever was wrong was doing a number on her and he couldn't help but feel bad about it.

"Um...good day Professor," he greeted knowing to be polite regardless of things. Gideon then made his way over to a free workstation which happened to be beside Vivi. "Hey."

Was Lafay even allowed to teach in the condition she was in?

As Renesmee entered the Potions classroom she couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor Professor. She didn't look very well and it was highly likely she didn't feel well either. If Nessie had the guts she would have given Lafay a hug, but she sort of remembered Lafay not being one for hugs anyways.

Instead she just gave the Professor a nod. "Hello, Professor. I hope you're getting better." Maybe that wasn't the brightest thing to say, because she clearly Lafay didn't look much better, but then being positive was good no? Ness thought it was.

After talking to the Professor Nessie headed towards an empty seat and pouted as she read the board.

Truth Serums.

Interesting.

After that Herbology class, Dylan was SO HAPPY to see Potions open up. He needed balance...and precise measurements. NEEDED them...

Entering the classroom, he surveyed those already assembled and found who he was looking for. Making his way over, the Slytherin set his bag down quietly, moving to sit. Nothing was said at first...until he laid eyes on his Head of House.

Eyes darting to those present in the room, Dylan wondered what they thought was happening to the woman...and why she was still teaching looking the way she did. Seriously. She was scaring him people. "Professor Lafay." His voice held his confusion. "It's nice to see you."

Ariana was setting out her parchment and her quill and anything else she might have needed for the lesson at her station. while a smile still plastered on her face she wrote on her parchment



Setting her quill down she glanced around the classroom 'good no Turner' she thought to herself. good good good. this would be a splendid lesso...

She spoke too soon Looking up at the Door as she heard someone walk in it was no one other then Turner.. ugh ugh guh No no no.. she didn't need this.. not today not for this lesson.. and he's walking towards her..

she turned her head to look the opposite way of where he was and closed her eyes and just begged quietly that he wouldn't sit nest to her before... he spoke to her.. she looked over... great he was sitting next to her..

"Turner." she said with a nod. ehh maybe this could be good. she'll make him take the potion then ask him everything she wants to know.. maybe this could be good.

"Hai Professor!" Seri said cheerfully, not bothering to even make eye contact with her as she slid into a stool at a desk near her cauldron. She got out pretty purple parchment, colour-change ink and fake snidget feather quill. Seri had got the hang of this now since Miss Prefect-y girl had shown her. Or so she liked to think. Seri started humming as she doodled on her page pictures of cauldrons exploding. She wouldn't want to read her notes later inless they looked nice OKAY?!

Minerva was getting out her parchment and was thinking about the words on the board. Would they really be making this potion. Then she noticed someone sitting down near her. She looked up to smile, but her smile got bigger when she realized who it was. Looking at the front of the room students were still coming in to the class, so maybe she could say a quick Hi, but then she noticed Ethan looked upset or exhausted.

Was he sick? Maybe something was wrong. She bit her lip trying to figure out what could be wrong or if she should say anything. Finally she leaned over and whispered, "You okay Ethan?" she sat up and just looked over at him hoping he was okay.

"Hey Lafay" said Olivia, she was sure the professer had heard that kind of saying before; but Olivia hadn't said it yet, so she just had to make the rhyme.

Truth serums, Olivia hoped the class would be making potions today and not only doing notes like in some classes. She always wished she could keep some of the potions they made in class.

Angelina walked into the potions class room excited. She has missed this class a lot! Taking a set in the first place she found she got settled. "Hello Professor Lafay," Angelina called out to the potions professor, with a smile on her face.

As Emmanuelle walked into Potions class, she nearly let out a 'meep!'. Professor Lafay looked worse than she had the first lesson instead of better. How was she even being allowed to teach?!

Stepping further into the class, Em uttered a quick "Hello, professor," before finding herself a seat in the back of the classroom. After all, she didn't really want to be nearby if the professor started oozing again....

Once again Eliza found herself confused by the concern she felt for Lafay. She seriously hoped she would get some rest and be well, but she knew better to mention it again. The professor was a bit touchy about admitting her weaknesses, it seemed. She restrained herself and only said a brief and courteous, "Hello Professor," and went to her seat.

After she arranged her bag under the desk, she looked up at the board, ready to start taking notes. Truth Serum?? Now all the strange energy in the room made sense. Surely there were some students who were excited by the prospects of this potion, while others seemed...nervous. She didn't really have anything to hide, or anything interesting to say for that matter - but she didn't think it was right to make anyone take it who didn't want to. She would've liked to have been able to say that she doubted anyone would be forced to take it, but from the slightly cold-hearted nature she'd seen Lafay show towards certain students, she regretfully couldn't rule this out.

"'Ello Professor," Mick smiled as he skipped into the room. He almost wanted to say that she looked nice today but decided against it, thinking that she might not be in the mood.

He stopped at the front for a second to look for a good seat, then chose a nice spot in the middle section. As Mick headed to his seat, he grinned and nodded to some of the students he passed along his way. After setting his books on the desk, he sat down comfortably and awaited for class to officially start. Truth serum? he thought. How exciting...

"Hello Miss Bishop," She said to the girl.

"I'm fine Miss Cambridge, thank you, the healer is for the students... not me." She said.

She acknowledged the boy back with a nod of her own. "Master Mordaunt."

"Good Day Miss Branxton." She said looking to see where the girl sat.

"Hello Miss Greingoth." She said and gave her a weak smile.

"Hello Miss Campbell," She said politely.

"Hello Miss Tanner" She greeted.

"Good Day Miss Fairfield" she told the child.

"Good day Miss Logan" she said.

"Good Day Master Stonewall" she told the boy.

She nodded back to the girl.

"Hello Miss Ryans," She told her.

"Good day Master Vanderbilt, and I'll keep you in mind should I need something..." The thought of sitting at the desk and raising her feet on the desk and having the boy rub them was quite an appealing thought... though... no.

"Hello Miss Eventide." She said to her.

"Master McCorkell, I expect my students to greet me when they enter my classroom" She said glaring at the boy. "It'd be rude not to."

"Hello Miss Quinn" she greeted.

"Hello Miss Castell," She said with a nod back.

"Good day Miss Kim." She said.

She bowed her head towards the Gryffindor Prefect.

"Good Day Prefect Rasting." She said.

"Hello Master Katharos," She said watching the boy.

"Miss McIntyre, it is rude not to greet your professor when you enter her classroom." Ravenclaws...

"Good Day Miss Hudson" She said to the girl.

"Hello Master Kinsley" she said to the boy.

"Hello Master Barrington" she said to him.

"Hello Miss Lockwell," She said.

"Miss Morganzo," She said returning the nod.

"Prefect Hollingberry, it is impolite to whisper and mutter..." She said to the girl.

"Good Day Miss Wheatborn," she told the girl.

"Morning, Master McCarthy." She said to the boy.

"Good Day, Miss Edwards," She greeted.

"Good Day Miss Lecium, I am well." She said and nodded.

"Hello Master Turner," She said to the boy. And her gaze went to the girl he greeted. She smirked.

"Prefect Gert, good day to you." She said and noticed the boy sitting by the Branxton girl.

"I am Miss Dixon, and hello to you." She said returning her nod.

"Likewise Captain Montmorency," She said and nodded.

Hai?

Ok.

"Hello Miss Wheeler" She said narrowing her eyes at her.

"Wenesco! Five points." She said narrowing her eyes. "You will respect me enough to address me as Professor or Potions Mistress. I've earned those titles."

"Hello Miss Andrews," She said.

"Hello Miss Moreau," she nodded.

"Hello Miss Dawnsel," she greeted.

"Hello to you, Master DeLarge" She said and then turned to the class closing the door to the room.

"Who can tell me what a Truth Serum does?" She asked very matter-of-fact.

Tay glanced up at the professor, "My apologies, Professor Lafay. I guess I am a bit out of it..." Taylor sighed and glanced down, not wanting to say why she was a bit out of it. After she asked the question, Tay raised her hand, "It makes people who drink it tell the truth." Duh, easy question, right?

Oh...so they were starting. Cool. Ella was a bit surprised by question because really, the title of the potion pretty much gave away what it was used for. She raised her hand anyway though, wanting to participate. "Professor, a Truth Serum is a potion that can get the truth out of whoever takes it..." Whether they liked it or not, yeah? Kind of dicey stuff, depending on who was using it and for what. Ella couldn't be that scared, though. She made it a point to tell the truth. Always had.

Her eyes took in every inch of the room while she waited on the class to begin. When they rested on Vivi she saw her wink at her. This, of course, made the 11 year old beam right back at her in response to her greeting. She got a wave too.

Mmm...well if she was suuuuure. Not everyone liked going to the Healer anyway. Did this mean the Healer could scare even Professor Lafay?! She knew there was something wrong with that woman!!!

And now the class has started which was pretty obvious when the Professor closed the door. She felt sorry for anyone who was late and had to open it then walk in. Yeah...it wouldn't go well for them, she just knew it.

The first question.

"It's a potion that forces you to tell the truth." She'd heard of it before and really wanted to get her hands on some. Now seemed like the best chance because with some luck they'd be brewing it! Now who would she try it out on first?

Her eyes began scanning the class once more for future victims.

Kurumi froze in her seat for a moment, eyes still on Lewis when Professor Lafay called her out. She didn't say anything, instead mostly speaking with her eyes to Lewis and blushing just a bit before turning her attention back towards the front. "Sorry, professor," she said as she took her textbook out and set it at the upper right corner of her desk.

And then the lesson began which meant that Kurumi had her quill in hand and set to her parchment for any note taking. Truth Serums...those required jobberknoll feathers and...all the jobberknolls had just died. ALL of them at Hogwarts. Her and Professor Newlin had T-shirts made that she wore under her robes from time to time to try and rally support to save them actually. Not that she would show that off right now...

"Truth Serums are potions that allow someone to get the truth out of the drinker. They have no choice but to tell the truth or reveal their deepest and darkest of secrets if asked to," she said after raising her hand. "The only way to counter the effects is with the antidote to the specific serum or with Occlumency."
