Hecate looked even worse for the wear. She was quite thin, and her breath could no longer be covered up with a mind. She was now taking a potion for it.
Still she was going to keep going in the way she knew. She wrote on the board "Truth Serums" and underlined it.
She returned at back of her desk and sat in her chair.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

GULP. Alright. At least once Ella added the Jobberknoll blood to the potion she wouldn't have to look at it anymore. Any hopefully she could stop thinking about those screams. Shiver. The third year reached for a stirrer and pointed her wand at it, cleaning it before dipping it into the water. She then began to stir in a counter-clockwise motion.
With her other hand, the blonde badger reached over and grabbed the cup of Jobberknoll blood, trying not to gag. She wasn't usually this squeamish about blood but having seen them before...Shudder. Taking a deep breath she slowly poured in the blood, making sure not to spill any. EEP. She definitely didn't want to touch it. She watched with a frown as the red of the blood began to circle around in the water. Right...good, then. No more blood to worry about. :|

Sierra began stirring her potion in a counter-clockwise motion. Since first year, when she'd starting brewing her own potions, she'd had this fascination with watching ingredients blend together. She never really thought about why, but she liked seeing all the mixing together and sometimes, the color changes.
Next was the Jobberknoll blood. Using the blood didn't really bother Sierra. Animal parts were used in a lot of Potions, and people brewed those everyday. So why was this one any different? She continued adding the blood, all the while watching how it mixed with the other ingredients. Finally, she'd added all of it, so she glanced up for a brief second to listen for the next step.
"Good," she said to the others. "Now begin stirring your potion in a counter-clock motion. As the motion is in motion, slowly add your Jobberknoll blood. It should be a low and slow stream into the moving potion. You will see the red making circles in the water."
Ok. Now before anything else she first grabbed the quill and parchment and added the next steps:
SPOILER!!: Befelda's notes
POTIONS: LESSON 2
Lingualaxus Truth Serum
Ingredients:
Water
8 drops of Essence of Wormwood
One cup of Jobberknoll blood
4 Billywig Wings
3 Belladonna leaves
2 tablespoons of poppy seeds
7 Sprigs of Valerian
5 leeches
Directions:
1. Clean the cauldron. Always the first step. (Scourgify)
2. Fill the cauldron with water. Set the fire burner.
3. Add in the 8 drops of wormwood essence, one at a time.
4. Begin stirring the potion in a counter-clock motion.
5. As the motion is in motion, slowly add the Jobberknoll blood. Must be a low and slow stream into the moving potion. Red making circles in the water.
Argh! Another slow-paced step.. Befelda really can't get away with her shaking nerves in her hands. She took her wand, and began stirring the potion in a counter-clock direction. Then as it was in it's state of motion, she took the Jobberknoll blood and added slowly in the potion. As the Jobberknoll blood mixed with the potion, red making circles slowly appearing in the water. Sigh. Befelda thought she's doing fine so far.

"Good," she said to the others. "Now begin stirring your potion in a counter-clock motion. As the motion is in motion, slowly add your Jobberknoll blood. It should be a low and slow stream into the moving potion. You will see the red making circles in the water."
As Belle was starring at her potion, she heard the professor saying the next part of the directions. She got her spoon out and started to stir counter-clockwise motion. She stirred for a while and then she found the Jobberknoll blood on her right. She uncapped the bottle and saw her potion was still in motion. It was still swirling.
Belle added the blood and saw it be a low and slow stream of blood into it. "Wooahh that looks so cool!" Belle thought. She saw the red circles in the water. At least she was doing the potion right.
As the Professor went on telling the next instructions, Nessie wanted to scream about and she wanted to have a clean freak fit. She knew it wouldn't help much, and instead decided she would attempt to continue with probably the worst part of her potion anyways. She scribbled her notes down first trying to prepare herself for what was coming.
Round and round the spoon went as she stirred it counter-clockwise. This she could do easily. It was what was next that was worrying her.
Trying not to smell with her nose as she did so, Ness opened up the bottle of Jobberknoll blood and lowered it towards the potion. She then began slowly pouring it in. She could taste the scent of the blood on her tongue and it almost at once made her go light headed. An odd sensation started in her stomach too. She was nauseous and she did not like this step at all. She wasn't a fan of blood and at times it had even made her faint, this wouldn't happen today though. She refused to let it happen. She could do this she encouraged herself. Almost all of it was in anyways.
Done! Well the worst part of that step that was. Trying not to worsen her nausea she put away the bottle and then tried to focus on stirring. She did keep her eyes off the potion though, knowing if she looked at the red she would only feel worse.
She could do this she sat and eagerly waited for next instructions.

That's when she heard and noticed Ethan lean towards her to tell her nothing was wrong she gave a small smile and looked at him for a quick second. "I'm glad" is all she said not wanting to get in any trouble.
Turning back to her potion she looked at the Jobberknoll blood. Without touching it she didn't want to be near it. Taking a deep breath and picking it up she measured out a cup and slowly let it stream into the cauldron. She felt her stomach turning at the sight of blood. She felt as if she could smell it as well. Her face had to be turning a bit green from this one. Was it because it was blood, or was it because of the rumors she had heard about the recent Jobberknolls at school that were making her feel this way. She had never had problems in potions before.
Once the blood was all in and the red circles were being seen in her cauldron (which was a horror movie scene if she could think of one) Minerva cleaned the measure cup and placed it away from her. Taking some deep breaths she tried to steady her stomach. She did not want to throw up in class, especially this class...
Focus, McCarthy!
Potions was one class Ethan knew he should not be exhausted for. Precision and accuracy were essential and his tired mind was having trouble concentrating. He briefly rubbed his temples and took a few deep breaths to muster enough focus to complete the lesson.
Scourgify, Aguamenti, and Incendio were cast to prepare the cauldron for brewing. Eight drops of wormwood essence, one at a time, were added next. As he picked up the cup full of blood, Ethan glanced over at his tablemate. She did not look well at all.. she looked downright queasy. "Minnie.." he whispered, leaning towards her. "Are you alright?" Perhaps the blood was making her ill, he thought as he peered down distastefully at it. He began stirring his potion counter-clockwise and slowly poured the blood into the cauldron, keeping one eye on his potion and one eye on Minerva.

Sarah stirred the potion, and by the watch on her non-wand hand she coud see that she was stirring in the opposite direction to that her watch was going.
While it was still spinning she uncapped the bottle of the scarlet blood and began to slowly pour it in. Yes it was doing what it was meant to.. as in making circles in the liquid.

At least there didn't seem to be too many ingredients for this potion. It didn't seem like a lot to her, anyway, for whatever reason. Penelope wrote the list down in her notes quickly before getting up and gathering the needed items. Once she got back to her table, she set them down and got back into her place in front of her cauldron to listen for the first instructions.
And of course, the first step was to fill the cauldron with water. And for once, this step didn't bother her because this year she'd finally managed to successfully cast that spell, along with these other beginning spells she'd had trouble with that no one else seemed to have. So with a quick Scourgify - and grin - she made sure her cauldron was clean before casting Aguamenti to fill up the cauldron. Starting the fire gave her a brief moment of trouble, but after only two failed attempts, she managed to start it with Incendio. Then she started adding the drops of wormwood essence, watching as they dropped one at a time into the cauldron untill all eight were in.
Putting that to the side, she started stirring her potion after eyeing a couple others to making sure she got the counter-clockwise direction right. It confused her sometimes, though she wasn't sure why. But she made sure she was doing it right, and then started adding the Jobberknoll blood in what she hoped was "a low and slow stream". It seemed to be making the red-colored circles, so she supposed she was doing it right.

Was it just her, or was Lafay strangely pleased to watch and describe the blood in the potion? Yuck, just yuck. She stirred her potion and did her best not to gag as she slowly poured the thick, crimson liquid into her potion. Holding her breath, she stirred and stirred until the blood was completely mixed in and her cup was empty, all except the sickening slick syrup that had glazed the surface of the cup, refusing to drip out. She let out her air and quickly sat the cup out of sight once she was done. At least she hadn't thrown up. What kind of potion would that have made? she wondered as she tried to lighten the mood for herself.

Awar began stirring her potion and scrunched up her nose as she picked up the cup of blood. Blood has never really bothered her, or at least in like a cut or scrape, but this was a cup of straight blood and it was sort of unsettling. She steadied her hand and poured the liquid in, watching as the circles of red started to form.
Tay sighed and stirred her potion counterclockwise. She picked up the jobberknoll blood and poured slowly into the moving poton. Taylor looked at the blood making cirles in the water and frowned. It was doing what it was suppose to but why isnt she having fun? Tay enjoys Potions so why isnt she happy?

Back in her seat - and with a smile that could only spell relief all over her face at Lafay not eating Alexa for the water - Kurumi began to stir her potion as instructed an then...looked at the blood again.
Poor jobberknolls...
Picking up the cup - which did not make Kurumi sick of feel like fainting at all - she began to pour it into the cauldron. The Gryffindor really was only squirmish around human blood, so no risk of passing out here. Sure enough, those red circle began to form...but all she could think about was what had caused all of the jobberknolls to suddenly die and how she was wearing a SAVE THE JOBBERKNOLL shirt underneath her robes.

This. Was. Harder. Than. It. Look.
It always looked so much easier in the movies but getting all this water into a spinning motion after so much repititive movement was making her arms hurt. She wasn't cut out for this kind of manual labour!!! Stir. Ow. Stir. Ow. SCOWL. The things she did for a good potion. Once the water was swirling in a way that pleased her she took up the cup of Jobberknoll blood and began steadily pouring it.
Some people were pretty hung up about the use of Jobberknoll blood but really they were all dead. If they didn't use the blood then it would just dry up and no one would benefit from the little guys kicking the bucket. There was just no point in that. No. They might as well had used it so that some good could come out of a bad situation--really she just wanted the potion. Quite the opportunist she was. Lex found herself being fascinated by the swirling motion of the red in the water...it was actually kinda...cool...

When it was time to grab the blood and add it, she actually felt her throat close up. She gagged. She actually gagged, she of the iron Healer-esque stomach. That was even more upsetting than the blood, and Vivi poured the blood into her cauldron completely distracted with thoughts about her gag reflex.
Fortunately, her instincts were fairly good, and she didn't end up making an enormous mess that Lafay would throw out. A glance into the cauldron showed the red making concentric circles. She gagged again... it looked like a target.

She heard the woman mention the discovery of mixing Belladonna and Poppies by muggles? The Ravenclaw's ears perked up. Muggles discovered it? How exactly? She was about to ask the Professor when the woman told them to get their ingredients. Okay, she can just ask her about that later then.
With the cue, Beezus went and grabbed the necessary ingredients from the closet before carefully making her way back to her workplace and ever painstakingly settling them down. Good. Nothing broken yet. That was a good sign.
Narrowing her eyes at Dylan (Seriously? She knew she was clumsy with cauldrons, but to constantly give her THE LOOK? ..Pfft..), the brunette then pointed her wand at the cauldron. Deep breaths first before doing anything though. Cauldrons were her hazard zone. Cautiously, she took note of the 5C's then filled the vessel with water, "Aguamenti." After so, muttering a quick 'Finite' to stop the spate of water before lighting the burner underneath as they were told to do so.
Hmm. Her ingredient came first, they need to drop the essence into the cauldron. Gulping somewhat, she uncovered the bottle of Wormwood essence and brought it above the cauldron. Then with a slightly shaky hand, she watched and counted as drops fell into the water.
Successful with the first step, Beezus exhaled laboriously and looked at the Slytherin Captain in hope of getting a stamp of approval or encouragement from him.
Next was to stir the potion and add the Jobberknoll blood.
Following the instructions, the Ravenclaw began to stir the mixture in a counterclockwise motion. However, the next part didn't came off easy. She went a little pale and even gagged as she added in the Jobberknoll blood. It was making her stomach retch into knots. Shaking her head slightly, she indeed saw the blood creating circles in the water and she covered her mouth again.
At least that step was done.

Kurumi had stopped it before things had even gotten too bad, and Professor Lafay hadn't even commented. Maybe that meant this lesson would go okay. Well, except for the fact they were using blood and poisons, but the belladonna hadn't done too much damage in the last potion and she could always pretend there was no way the jobberknoll blood was from the school jobberknolls. Odds were it wasn't, but if the people who had questioned it were going along with the potion, she would. Anything to keep the professor's attention off of herself, and she looked up from her notes as the next instruction was given.
The jobberknoll blood. Of course it was the blood. That was the next ingredient on the list, after all, and she reached for the container carefully after noting the new steps into her journal. Stir first, and then add it, she remin ded herself, setting the cup down to reach for her stirrer. Which she then made sure to Scourgify to be safe, then she slipped it into her cauldron and started stirring counter-clockwise. Before she realized that somehow she was supposed to pour the blood while keeping the potion moving, which meant using both hands. And she wasn't about to try to stir with her left, so she'd have to pour. Carefully lifting the cup again, she brought it over to the cauldron, still stirring with her right hand. Slow, she thought, tipping the cup gently until it started dripping over the edge, then growing to a steady but small stream of redness. This really wasn't what she wanted to be doing, but she glanced into her cauldron to make sure it was all doing what it was supposed to. Definitely red circles, and she made sure to keep stirring. They hadn't been told to stop, after all.

He stared at the cup of blood sitting on his desk-- was that where it came from? The poor Jobberknolls annihilated and instead of a proper burial their parts were used for Potions class. It was like the Plimpies all over again. Woe is he!
As the Potions Mistress started to demo the steps and Vickers' gaze kept drifting towards the blood-filled cup, mindlessly going through the motions of filling up the cauldron with water and setting the burner alight. What in Gaia's good earth happen to the Jobberknolls to be obliterated like that in one go? Taking the wormwood essence bottle he uncorked the top off and slipped the dropper in, taking it out and hovering it over the cauldron... is it justifiable that they use the Jobberknoll blood in this class given that they were found dead instead of being killed for parts like what they did to the poor Plimpies? Well that still didnt sit well with this Ravenclaw....
.... oh worm wood essence in his hand. With all his preoccupation with the Jobberknolls he's forgotten to drip-drop the ingredient in. He started counting silently and then set the dropper aside on the 8th drop.
Now it was time to stir. Scourgifying the stirrer for good measure he slipped it in and started turning it counter clockwise all around the pot. He paused when the Professor instructed to use the Jobberknoll blood next...
It was like a moment of crisis. Seriously he doesnt want to use it, but the he knew that the Jobberknoll part of the potion was essential to the Truth Serum. So begrudgingly he reached out for the cup and, obviously frowning and totally not-OK with the possible source of this item he slowly tipped the cup's contents into the pot, stirring it in, looking away with the redness started to swirl in the water.
The least he can do is make sure this turns out well so he can use to interrogate find out the truth about who or what killed the Jobberknolls...

She eyed the lion prefect. Merlin she was annoying! Did she always question everything? The answer very clearly was a yes. Still she wondered how she had not been hexed yet. She might want to watch her tongue because her head of house was just the one to do it. Putting her attention back on the task at hand she cleaned her cauldron with a quick "Scourgify."
She added some water. "Aguamenti." When she had reached the desired amount of water she ended the spell. "Finite." She started her burner and stared for a minute. It was time for the wormwood essence. She added the eight drops one at a time. Drop, drop, drop...until she had eight in there.
SPOILER!!: 2nd step
"Good," she said to the others. "Now begin stirring your potion in a counter-clock motion. As the motion is in motion, slowly add your Jobberknoll blood. It should be a low and slow stream into the moving potion. You will see the red making circles in the water."
She got right to stirring her potion in a counter-clockwise motion. Once she was good and moving she slowly added the Jobberknoll blood which was very icky btw! She hated that she had to go at it slowly. If she had a choice she would have dumped the whole thing in as fast as she could and stirred it until it didn't resemble blood anymore. Her stomach rolled as she watched the red blood making circles in the water. She was ready for the next step all right!

Taking a deep breath she slowly poured in the blood, making sure not to spill any. EEP. She definitely didn't want to touch it.

One cup of Jobberknoll blood

Sarah was not the sqeamish type... one couldn't growing up in a house of brothers. Yet the thought that it was jobberknoll blood haunted her. Perhaps it was her essay that brought its end

Then Belle found the 3 Belladonna leaves and started to loosely crush them loosely. The potion was all coming together nicely.

Gideon picked up his stirring rod, giving it a quick "scourgify," to insure nothing off was added to his potion. He then slowly dunked it into the cauldron and began stiring it in a counter-clockwise motion using his wand and writing hand. Gingerly picking up the cup of jobberknoll blood, not willing to accidentally drop and waste a single drop, he made sure to balance it in his grasp. Then, the prefect slowly turned it on its side to allow a careful, slow flow into his cauldron.
A twirl of red present within the potion.
Now for the next step. Holding out one hand, Gideon first took the billywig wings from where he had collected with his other hand. He then placed it in his outstretched hand before reaching for the belladonna leaves. Adding them to the hand held horizontal, the seventh year then joined both hands together, moving them over his cauldron. With a few rubs and moves of his hands together loosely , the differing ingrediants crushed against his skin and once he was satisfied, Gideon added them all to his cauldron as directed.

Should they continue stirring, or could they stop now that they were adding a new ingredient? Vivi studied her potion for changes before deciding to continue stirring until otherwise instructed.
She donned her gloves for the next step. From her neatly ordered potion ingredients, Vivi retrieved the billywig wings and belladonna leaves. They were both dry and very nearly the same texture, so it was easy work to crumble the leaves and wings between her hands. Not too finely, as indicated by the professor. She let the pieces fall from in between her fingers into the cauldron.

There. Now the back breaking labour was over and she could relax again for a while.
Lex took the 4 Billywig Wings and the 3 Belladonna leaves and began crushing them in her hands. This wasn't nearly as bad as the stirring so she wouldn't complain...that and she didn't want to start complaining after the look she saw the Professor have earlier.
Once that was done she let them fall into the cauldron and watched them going around in the spiral of the still spinning water. After the last piece fell she looked to the Professor again.
What now?

Well, at least they could stop stirring. Kendall didn't quite see how they were supposed to be using both hands to crush ingredients while still stirring, at least, even though that instruction hadn't exactly been given specifically. She still took her stirrer out of the potion for the time being, Scourgifying it before she set it aside to pick up the billywig wings. Should we be wearing gloves?, she wondered, just looking down at the delicate wings for a second. It was kind of too late for that now, unless she wanted to put the wings down again to slip her gloves on, and that might contaminate them. If she'd learned anything from Potions lessons, it was that contamination was the last thing she wanted to risk. Therefore, she was just going to have to make sure to try and get as much of the crumbly materials off her hands an into the potion, and then maybe clean her hands before moving on. It sort of depended on if she had time before the next step was introduced, and if it needed clean hands.
Either way, she added the belladonna leaves to the wings in the palm of her hand, getting that much more nervous since it was that ingredient that had made her more worried than the billywig wings. She definitely wasn't going to eat anything until she'd washed her hands a lot now, but she pushed her nervousness back long enough to curl her fingers together around both wings and leaves before holding the fist over her cauldron. Clasping her other hand around her fist, she crushed the ingredients a tiny bit more before opening her hands to tip the crumbs into the liquid. Trying to not look to see if there was still visible blood in the potion, too. Brushing her hands together to get as many remnants as she could, she sat back again finally to add to her notes. At least there weren't too many more ingredients to worry about.

Good they're finally moving on from the Jobberknoll blood. Still not looking at his cauldron Vickers slipped on his gloves for the next task. With or without the stingers it was best practice if he didnt hold the billywig with bare hands. He took his wand and scourgified the palms and fingers of the gloves before taking the right amount of Billywig wings and belladona leaves into one glove, then crushing them together, and turning his hand to scatter the pieces into his pot.
