The beginning of term, new faces, old faces, new adventures... yeah Bentley was excited. As she stood in the entrance to Greenhouse Four, she rocked back and forth on the ball of her feet, her hands clasped in front of her.
"Good morning everyone! The lesson will begin shortly, in the meantime please take a seat." She motioned her hands to a few rows of benches that have been placed near the entrance to the greenhouse for the purpose of that lesson.
OOC: The lesson has officially started, DO NOT announce your character arriving from this point onward, as they will be late, and late = trouble. If you haven't done so already then please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules. All SS Board Rules apply. IC rule breaking will result in IC punishment, OOC rule breaking will result in OOC punishment. Please behave appropriately and most importantly... have fun. ‘Hmm?’, Gwendolyn mused as she drew her attention back towards Sarah. ‘It’s fine’, she mused. I am perfectly capable of finishing this myself. But some help would be good. ‘Could you work on this part?’, the fourth year said as she pointed towards the front- right part. That would definitely help.
‘Looks good’ Erm. As good as a flesh eating plant could look. Shiny. Smile now. Gwen went on brushing as she made a mental note of getting more information about this sort of plants after class was over. Why.was.she.acting.like.such.a.Ravenclaw? Ehem.
Sarah was watching the other team progresses when Gwen talked to her. "Hm?" she said, lazily. Gwen had asked her something, she was pointing to the front set of teeth. "Oh yeah yeah, I'll do that" she agreed, taking her brush back. "This plant has such a big mouth" she complained, "I wouldn't mind if it had come with removable ones" she said. They were still brushing it's teeth. Sarah scrubbed rather harder than she intended. She cleaned the inner parts, Bentley would probably see that too. She sighed, as she removed one particularly adamant set of plague. She rubbed and rubbed until the thing accepted defeat. Sweat dribbled from her forehead and she wiped it, as she brushed.
Post 5 ...hopefully it's ok *smiles with puppy eyes at Professor*

"I was just thinking that you were a bit like my boyfriend would be, if he'd been here," she continued, just to explain things a little more. At least he'd continued flossing, which made things easier. They hadn't stopped just to have an awkward conversation, and she'd be able to get the brushing over with quicker as well. Anything that meant she could step away from the plant was good, in her mind.
It didn't help that it seemed like even just the plant's breathing was making Isaac jump, since that only kept her on edge. Even if he'd assured her he was alright. She worried that the plant was going to be influenced by their fear, and not stay relaxed no matter how much sedation Professor Bentley had done. So far it seemed like her petting had at least kept the twitches down to normal breathing tics, although that didn't make her look forward to brushing any more. Of course, neither had seeing all the practically rotten pieces of meat and who knew what else that was stuck to the floss once that had been finished, and she looked away as it had been taken to the garbage. "I guess it's time for me to brush your teeth," she said quietly to the plant, even before her partner had returned. She figured he'd take over what she'd been doing for him once he got back, at least, so she stepped back slightly and positioned the toothbrush near the first tooth. Starting to brush, she tried not to focus on how disgusting things still were. Hopefully Isaac was going to get back soon.
Smiling softly as she said that he was a bit like her boyfriend would be. Nodding he understood now. At least she had a boyfriend, and just hoped she didn't think he was flirting or anything. Oi, if Amelia had she'd probably not be too happy with him at the moment. "I jus' wouldn't want anyone te be in danger, if I can help it. I'd do the same fer a guy even if they'd let me."
Dropping the floss into the garbage he returned realizing she'd already picked up the toothbrush and begun brushing. OI! Quietly but quickly he stepped up and began stroking the plant just as Stella had been doing, feeling the breathing tics under his hand as he stroked with stready strokes, he watched as she carefully went over each tooth. When the bottom was done he started relaxing a little. They were nearly done! Breathing a sigh out as she worked over the top ones he kept stroking the plant. "Nearly done." he murmured.
Wow if this hadn't been one of the more dangerous herbology jobs he'd ever done he didn't know what was!

"Say, Jonathan..." Xing calls, but still cleaning the tooth. "If the thing... Not numb anymore... Will it eat us?" scary question it is, but he needs to know.
Still finishing up with all the small particles on the upper jaw of this huge plant, Jonathan smiled when he and Xing started conversing. Being the new kid is not an easy thing. Xing asking a question about the plant was starting to give him another set of images. He shrugged at those thoughts though. No need to think about it. "Well, it's steady for a reason" he said tapping the head of the plant.
Now to move on to the lower part of the jaw. Jonathan started scrubbing the first 3 teeth. They seemed a bit yellow in color and the breath certainly does not help at all. However, Jonathan still managed to clean it. Brushing up and down, left and right until all those particles that are stuck in between the teeth would just go. He manage to brush all of the lower teeth in no time. They were easier because they're a bit smaller in size and shape compared to the ones on the upper jaw.
Phew.
Jonathan stopped to give himself a break. Flossing is next right?

Hm? Jump into it?
Evelyn would rather jump into the lake than tackle Piranha plants. Seriously, why did they have to brush their teeth? That was just..disgusting. Terribly disgusting.
She turned towards him again and gave a small smile. "Evelyn. Nice to meet you, Alex." Her eyes flickered towards the plant again and took a deep breath before putting on her gloves. Right. Might as well get it over with.
"So, how do you want to do this? Do you want me to hold it's mouth while you brush it's teeth or...?"
"Umm, sure, we can do that," Alex said with a nod, looking at the toothbrush in his hand again. This thing wasn't even a toothbrush, it more resembled something you'd use to brush a horse's mane or something...and he did NOT want to get any closer to that plant that necessary. He remembered wayyy back when he was a kid, he'd seen pictures of those plants on the TV...they were trying to eat a plumber or something...he had never thought they were REAL though!
"It's pretty knocked out," he said with a smile of relief as he took a step closer. "Shouldn't be too hard to deal with," he told her with a reassuring nod. The plant was drooping hardcore to the left, being weighed down by it's heavy red and white head. He carefully reached over and lifted one of it's lips gently and tested out the brush on the small bit of tooth he could see...no stirring from the plant. Good sign!

West did nooooot misunderstand that that boy was MEAN. He was squished up now against Aspen's side and thems looks that he was shooting at the seventh year? Were pretty dark. Promise of retribution of the firstie sort.... which was as yet unplanned aside from writing to certain people of POWER.
And he did want to work with Aspen. Or actually, he wanted to go back to his geranium and finish cleaning its teeth because it was cool, and he wouldn't even complain about the sore poking feeling in his chest because he would much much rather do stuff with flesh eating plants than get that sorted out.
Still, the look he turned up to the Professor was somewhat pitiful. Poor ickle firstie he was.

Aspen hadn't said anything about threats.
She was beginning to feel a little suspicious now. Were they down-playing the situation? Should she lock them in the dungeons to sort out their differences? ... and bond?
Probably not a wise idea. "If you are able to find another partner, you may do so."There was no point in forcing them to work together if there were going to be more issues.
Seren's eyebrows lifted. What did she just say?
"Are you implying Gryffindor's are loud... reckless and dumb?" she asked the Ravenclaw. Did Aspen realise she was speaking in the presence of Gryffindor's Head of House? Because if so then that was dumb.
She did however consider her proposition to help West and the first years. Which was acceptable, so she nodded her agreement.
Aspen didn't react to Professor Bentley's questioning on threats. Aspen hadn't ever ACTUALLY felt in danger. She knew how to take care of herself and would have buried Joao in that hole before she let him hex her little brother. It wasn't anything Aspen needed or wanted help sorting out.
Implying?
..
No, Aspen had said that outright, straightforward. She meant it, too, but she only said it OUT LOUD to get at Joao and Slytherin's forever rivalry with the red-clad Gryffindors. Aspen expected the Professor to know as much and also expected the Professor to know that Aspen knew that "loud and dumb" was not exclusive to Gryffindor. It had been a chide. Hmm.
But she didn't and was asking Aspen.
Aspen blinked BIG, LONG thoughtful blinks at her Professor, almost willing her to retract that question. It made Aspen make a mental note to speak to the Fisherlibrarian about getting into the Restricted Section of the library.
"Thanks, Professor." Aspen gently nudged West towards the geraniums. "Show me how much you have done, West." ANDAREYOUOKAY?? Aspen wasn't taking her hands off of him...possibly ever again.
Prepare for YOUR day of reckoning, João Marcelo Mendonça Nascimento Teixeira Neves.

Voila!
Jonathan moved onto the flossing part. Now that he is done with the brushing, the flossing part is just worse isn't it? Jonathan looked at it for awhile before taking a strip of floss. YEAH, it needs to be done and so it shall be. At least he was talking to Xing, that way he could be distracted from all of these.
Shrugs.
Jonathan flossed the upper part first and it was a bit harder because you need to bend and you know have to stick your head near it. You really want to just clean it so well and all that. Thankfully, Jonathan just thoroughly cleaned the teeth while he was still on the brushing part so now that he is flossing them, it wasn't as hard as he thought it would be.
Xing mentioning a few Slytherin names gave him another smile on the face. He knows them both that's for sure. Especially Daichi. He's like a little brother to Jonathan. "It's good that you made some friends" he grinned and as for the other houses part "Naaah, I'm sure in no time you'll have plenty of friends in other houses too" he nodded. Give it a few more months or so. "You just need to be more out there, i guess" people at Hogwarts are really friendly.
After finishing with the flossing of the upper teeth, Jonathan now took another strip of floss and continued with the lower teeth. He gave out a laugh when Xing just suddenly reacted to him patting the plant. It's not going to eat him..... yet. "Don't worry. We're almost done aren't we?" he chuckled some more.
He was making sure that every inch of the teeth was thoroughly cleaned because obviously, his OCD is acting up despite the fact that he has been secretly complaining about this activity. He did a pretty good job with cleaning the teeth, to him that is. A few more of the lower teeth to floss and then he is done with this.

Elise kept on flossing and as she did, the pieces of rotting meat that came out from between the plant's teeth were just getting disgusting. Swaying a bit, she assured herself that she'd finish this off quickly.
Gross, she thought as she changed the twine and began going again. Totally and utterly gross.
Inhaling the stench of piranha plant burp, she staggered backwards and coughed a little before holding her breath. Eyeing the Fanged Geranuim, she looked for signs of more toothcare needed. Nada.
So, picking up her wand, she scourgified all the equipment (the toothbrush and flossing twine) and threw the used twine away. No point keeping that. Putting the brush back in the stores cupboard, she returned to her workstation.
"Yes, flower?" she asked when the plant seemed to want her attention. "I'm not going to do any more, so you can relax." Yeah. Maybe this wasn't really her forte...

After finishing with the brushing and the flossing, Jonathan finally smiled and looked at what he did. He's just happy of what he did really. So does this mean they're done right? Xing seems to finish with his work as well too. Jonathan took his gloves off and wiped his sweaty arms and hands with a towel. It has been rather a hard day today.
Throwing all the rubbish into the trash bins, Jonathan cleaned his area. All the used floss into the bins and as for the brush, he took out his wand "scourgify" he cleaned it as well. These were Professor Bentley's things, so it was best if he helped her clean it.
When Jonathan was done, he finally packed up his things and went to say his goodbye to the Professor "Goodbye Professor" he said with a big smile "Have a nice day" he added as he walked out of the Greenhouse.
Pyrsephonie walked up to her Fanged Geranium. "Hey there, Mr. Plant," she said. "I'm gonna clean your teeth." She grabbed the toothbrush and began scrubbing the first of the Geranium's teeth. "Scrub, scrub, scrub," she sang.
Ira had been distracted! Too distracted actually! She had been just staring at others, watching them floss and clean the teeth. And now it was almost time for the class to get over with, and she hadn't even started her own work.
Then making sure her gloves were all nice and fit, she proceeded to pick up the required equipment. And what was this smelly thing? The girl or the plant? Apparently the plant it was! Wrinkling up her nose a bit, she started to work.
Picking up her toothbrush, she began cleaning the first row.
Pyrsephonie finally finished the top teeth, and moved to the bottom. She rinsed off the toothbrush first, and then continued to brush the plant's teeth. "You're teeth are gonna be nice and clean," she said, still conversing with the plant. "Food is going to come to you. They'll be so amazed by your teeth, you can just go 'NOM!'"
It sure took a lot of time to just brush the front row! And there was still many more teeth left. And each teeth was so big! And then she had yet to floss them. All this was sure gonna take time. Lots of time!
It actually felt weird to brush teeth which weren't hers. She wondered how the dentists did that. Because, right now, even though she was brushing teeth of a plant, she felt dirty. No, she was not liking it.
Brush... brush... brush...
Ah! Finally the brushing part was done with! Top done, bottom done, sides... Oops! Ira hadn't done the sides! Frowning a little, Ira picked up the toothbrush again, and resumed her brushing.
Louisa glanced around as casually as her nerves allowed her to be. Her right hand slipped into her side and the wand was clutched tightly, although the dragonhide gloves made it a bit hard for the girl to move the wand freely. "Tilt it a bit to the right," she tilted her head to the right and left to make sure it was the right decision. Yeah, it needed a split millimeter of tilting.
Once Lewis stationed his hands on the tooth, Louisa waved her wand while it was lowered and "Adhero," quickly tucking the wand in her side and striding forward to check on the plant. "Is it fixed? Does it need another dosage of sticking spell?" Was it even a proper concept? Cast the spell over and over again to make it stick more? It wasn't like a glue or anything... right?
"Is Bentley watching us?" The girl then asked Lewis, her back face the professor who was hopefully still busy with Joao and the havoc he'd just caused. Louisa made a mental note to congratulate the little boy for surviving the encounter.
It was kind of hard to hold on to the tooth with his gloves on in general but tilting it a tiny bit to the right? That was just basically impossible. But he kind of had to. Or else Bentley would probably notice if one of the plant's teeth was suddenly crooked. Oh, and the plant would know too. And maybe find them at night to get its revenge. Ugh.
Once he'd put the tilted the tooth in a way that it was in a straight line with all the other teeth - or he tried to anyway - Lewis watched as Louisa waved her wand. Right. This should do it. Hopefully. Somehow he still didn't want to let go of the tooth. It wasn't that he didn't trust Louisa's abilities but it was just...he wasn't sure if that spell would work on a tooth. On a piranha plant tooth.
There was only one way to find out though.
So, with a deep breath, Lewis even closed his eyes tightly as he slowly very slowly let go of the tooth and listened for any noise that might have indicated that the tooth had fallen right out of the plant's mouth again. Only there was none. Opening one eye, he squinted at the plant hesitantly only to open both eyes and actually smile happily once he saw that it was there, right next to the other teeth. "You did it!" For now anyway. Who knew how long the effects of the spell would last.
At her next question, his smile fell right away as his eyes started darting around frantically searching for Professor Bentley. Who was still busy dealing with other students. Phew. "N-no. Doesn't look like it." Lewis whispered back, still eying the professor nervously. "We should probably start cleaning up though." So they could leave! Leave before the tooth fell off again.
Reaching for the brush and the clean part of the flossing twine he moved to give the latter to Louisa. "C-could you take that back?" He was on his way to actually turn around to so he could see where the girl's hands were so he could put the twine in them when he was distracted half-way through. Kurumi was just standing there, staring at them. Blushing slightly he narrowed his eyes a little in confusion. She looked a little...odd.
Without thinking about it - or turning around - he just let go of the twine, hoping that Louisa was close enough to catch it.
Wow! Her plant really had nice sparkly white teeth! It certainly looked way better than before. Ira smiled wide, happy to see that. So no yellow teeth, no bad breath.. in short, no bad things!
Feeling bored and lonely, Ira decided to have a conversation with her newly & cleanly brushed Geranium plant. Sure, it would be one sided of course, but then so what? Since a Herbology assignment last term, Ira had developed a new taste. It was talking to plant.. She now really liked it.
"Hey.. Fanged Geranium!" Ira whispered softly, "No.. not Geranium.. a new name for you, okay?" Ira asked. Smiling, she thought about it.. "How about Mina? Huh? Or.. Vine? Its a nice name! So you are now Vine.. for me at least!" Ira smiled.
"And now.. I'm gonna floss your beautiful shiny white teeth!" Ira said to Vine. So, picking up her floss, she resumed her work. yep, she needed to move fast.
Pysephonie finished brushing the plant's bottom row of teeth. She did a quick re-brush of the plant's teeth. The she set down the toothbrush and smiled. "There you go, Mr. Plant," she said to the plant. "Your teeth are all brushed." Pyrsephonie picked up the floss. "Now it's time to floss." She began to floss in-between the plant's teeth.
Pyrsephonie smiled at her work. "All done!" She said happily. She looked at the plant, who looked rather proud. "You know what?" She said to the plant. "You look so good, that I think you need a name. Well, you know, besides Mr. Plant." Pyrsephonie looked the plant over, trying to figure out a name. "How about Ladon?" She knew that the plant didn't hold much resemblance to the multi-headed guardian dragon of the Golden Apples, but it was the first thing that came to her mind. The plant seemed to like it. "Hehe! Ladon it is, then." She pulled a note card and pen out of her bag, and wrote the Geranium's new name on it. She stuck the card on the pot. "There you go," she said to Ladon. "Now everyone will know your name." Pyrsephonie smiled happily.

Dylan felt like he might throw up. The stench from the burp was still lingering around him and to his horror, was not showing any signs of vanishing.
So, he was holding his breath...In fact, he was holding his breath so hard that tiny spots were starting to appear before his eyes. But this didn't effect his hands or his determination. The Slytherin's fingers worked diligently, moving the rope-like floss between the things teeth. He'd started from the back, slowly making his way towards the front...
...In doing this, he absentmindedly wonder if the Piranha's teeth also had names like theirs. Incisors...and what were the other ones? Dylan couldn't remember...

Kurumi was just standing there, staring at them. Blushing slightly he narrowed his eyes a little in confusion. She looked a little...odd.
Without thinking about it - or turning around - he just let go of the twine, hoping that Louisa was close enough to catch it.
Louisa saw the boy remove his hand in slow motion. Her fingers quickly crossed the second he left the tooth. While he closed his eyes, Louisa's remained wide open. EEEK! The girl's face couldn't go any brighter, "I did!" Duuh, she didn't have any doubts about her skills but she kind of didn't expect the spell working on a tooth.
Once Lewis started working on getting everything tied up, Louisa glanced around hastily trying to help. She used 'scourgify' on the floor around the plant in case of any drool, or the mess the brush left when she threw it on the ground and Lewis picked it up like a paranoid neat person. And then he asked for her to take something--
O__o
Louisa didn't get time to approach him and take the twine line away like a normal person instead she stumbled a few steps her arm almost a foot stretched before her and her fingers eventually grasped the tool. "Geez, Lewis!" She looked up at him to see that he was... staring off somewhere. Huh. Did he black out? Her eyes followed his gaze and she found a bunch of students working on their plants. Pretty normal in a Herbology class, actually. "W-what's wro-"
Until Kurumi's frozen figure came to focus. She was staring at them, too. Or at him so to speak. "Merlin.." Louisa's eyes moved from the boy next to her to the Gryffindor Prefect. That brought her back to the question she'd asked him before he got all flustered and plucked the plant's tooth out. Now, she shot the Prefect standing next to her a look. What was he doing? Didn't he know that Kurumi had a boyfriend? This look, that hand-holding, and his nervous and over-the-edge reaction all indicated that he had something for the girl.
"Come on. We need to get going before the tooth falls out," she stated sternly nudging him to move. Too bad she had no control over the boy.. or the right to pry anything out of him. But her curiosity started simmering inside...
Hydra placed the brush on the table then picked up the floss and started flossing the back teeth of it then quickly removed her hands every time it was about to snap back at her.
"Now Vine... its time to floss!" Ira said to the plant.
Picking up the floss which she wound around her fingers, she started flossing. Thank Merlins that the plant was still sedated enough. But it would have been kinda exciting to tackle and brush and floss a half-sedated Fanged Geranium plant, right? Or maybe not. Whatever it was, this present situation was much more easy and comfortable for sure!
She slowly moved the floss towards the teeth and as softly as possible, started to floss in between them. In between the gaps of teeth. These teeth were so very similar to the humans right? It was a bit surprising. "There you are Vine! Its done!" Ira exclaimed and smiled wide. "Happy right?"
And yup, the plant was still smelling a bit. So that meant that all bad breath hadn't been gone away by all her brushing. So she had to do it again it seemed.

Merlin's beard, this was hard work.
Dylan wasn't complaining, though. There was really no point. Everyone had to do this...So, it wasn't like he was going to receive any special treatment...
Even if he was more awesome than most of his peers working in the room around him...but that was a different story altogether.
Pushing the floss between the plants two front teeth, the Slytherin smirked. "Okay, let's switch. I'm finished with this side." Moving back so his 'Claw partner could slide over, Dylan threw the floss out, pulling some new for the other side. Holding it tight in his hand, like he had the other, he began at the back...working his way towards the front.
Pyrsephonie cleaned up the plant a bit. She wipped of the sides of it's mouth and did another quick check of it's teeth. They're all clean. She put the plant with the others and went back to her station. "Well," she thought out loud. "Guess it's time to clean up."
There.. she was now almost done. Almost because, the plant still had some bad odor left. Even after she had brushed and flossed so much! Ira furrowed her brows and started to again do it.
Brush.. brush.. brush...
floss.. floss.. floss..
There, now Vine looked better. And smelled better too. But Ira had no doubt that the bad odor would be back as soon as the plant would start to revive again. So all her hard work gone into water!
Anyways, the important thing was that she had finished her work. And that too, in time. Ira sighed with relief.
But Vine was moving. Not actually moving about, but a little sideways and forwards.. Oops! That meant Vine was waking up? Ira looked on in fascination as the plant slowly woke up..
Jezzabelle nodded, "I can do that." She moved around the greenhouse looking for someone to help when...
"I could help." Jezzabelle smiled at the older student. She was sure that Professor Bentley wouldn't mind her helping out with Piranha Plant. She did say to find someone to help plus she wanted to work with the plant. Now it was just a matter of whether or not the older student wanted and would accept her help.

João was annoyed by the girl the second he'd heard her offering help. Those plants were DANGEROUS. How could she want to work with one? Throwing her a look of DISapproval, he neither denied nor accepted the help and just went over to the same plant he and that crazy Ravenclaw had been working for. He wasn't going to start on a new one. Nope. He'd just go on with flossing this one. And if the girl wanted to help, she'd better keep silent. He wasn't in the mood for talking. He was busy planning a revenge for that duo. Not so much for the girl, but that West-something was in his black list.
Ira looked on as her plant, her Vine, slowly became unsedated and woke up. One twig shake, then the other, then another. And the mouth was closed.
Ira grinned. She wanted to touch the plant. She wanted to see how it would react. She wanted to see if it would attack her, who had cleaned it's teeth. Surely, plants must have some gratitude, yeah?
And as if it could read her mind, the plant opened its mouth wiiiide, showing all its sets of pearly white sparkling clean teeth. If only it could speak! And whoa! Those teeth looked deadly. "Aww! Vine! You saying thank you to me huh?" Ira smiled and asked sweetly. "In that case, you're welcome!"
Anyways, she had to clean her work station. "Scourgify!" And it was done! And she was now free to go, right?
Seeing others leaving, Ira removed her globes, and kept them in her bag. Hoisting her bag up on the shoulder, she turned to leave the class, "Thanks Professor Bentley!" she said, much more cheerful than she had been at the beginning of class, "I hope Vine.. I mean, the plant likes my brushing and flossing!" she grinned. And it should. Because she had taken a bit of hard work over it. And endured bad smell. "And you too!"
