Once he'd put the tilted the tooth in a way that it was in a straight line with all the other teeth - or he tried to anyway - Lewis watched as Louisa waved her wand. Right. This should do it. Hopefully. Somehow he still didn't want to let go of the tooth. It wasn't that he didn't trust Louisa's abilities but it was just...he wasn't sure if that spell would work on a tooth. On a piranha plant tooth.
There was only one way to find out though.
So, with a deep breath, Lewis even closed his eyes tightly as he slowly very slowly let go of the tooth and listened for any noise that might have indicated that the tooth had fallen right out of the plant's mouth again. Only there was none. Opening one eye, he squinted at the plant hesitantly only to open both eyes and actually smile happily once he saw that it was there, right next to the other teeth. "You did it!" For now anyway. Who knew how long the effects of the spell would last.
At her next question, his smile fell right away as his eyes started darting around frantically searching for Professor Bentley. Who was still busy dealing with other students. Phew. "N-no. Doesn't look like it." Lewis whispered back, still eying the professor nervously. "We should probably start cleaning up though." So they could leave! Leave before the tooth fell off again.
Reaching for the brush and the clean part of the flossing twine he moved to give the latter to Louisa. "C-could you take that back?" He was on his way to actually turn around to so he could see where the girl's hands were so he could put the twine in them when he was distracted half-way through. Kurumi was just standing there, staring at them. Blushing slightly he narrowed his eyes a little in confusion. She looked a little...odd.
Without thinking about it - or turning around - he just let go of the twine, hoping that Louisa was close enough to catch it.
Louisa saw the boy remove his hand in slow motion. Her fingers quickly crossed the second he left the tooth. While he closed his eyes, Louisa's remained wide open. EEEK! The girl's face couldn't go any brighter, "
I did!" Duuh, she didn't have any doubts about
her skills but she kind of didn't expect the spell working on a tooth.
Once Lewis started working on getting everything tied up, Louisa glanced around hastily trying to help. She used 'scourgify' on the floor around the plant in case of any drool, or the mess the brush left when she threw it on the ground and Lewis picked it up like a paranoid neat person. And then he asked for her to take something--
O__o
Louisa didn't get time to approach him and take the twine line away like a normal person instead she stumbled a few steps her arm almost a foot stretched before her and her fingers eventually grasped the tool. "
Geez, Lewis!" She looked up at him to see that he was... staring off somewhere. Huh. Did he black out? Her eyes followed his gaze and she found a bunch of students working on their plants. Pretty normal in a Herbology class, actually. "
W-what's wro-"
Until Kurumi's frozen figure came to focus. She was staring at them, too. Or at
him so to speak. "
Merlin.." Louisa's eyes moved from the boy next to her to the Gryffindor Prefect. That brought her back to the question she'd asked him before he got all flustered and plucked the plant's tooth out.
Now, she shot the Prefect standing next to her a look. What was he doing? Didn't he know that Kurumi had a boyfriend? This look, that hand-holding, and his nervous and over-the-edge reaction all indicated that he had
something for the girl.
"
Come on. We need to get going before the tooth falls out," she stated sternly nudging him to move. Too bad she had no control over the boy.. or the right to pry anything out of him. But her curiosity started simmering inside...
