As Milton scrubbed the teeth of the plant, he saw something out of the corner of his eye fall to the ground. After a moment, he finally looked to see what it was. Oh. That was his pansy teammate who refused to do any work. Served him right.

Milton tipped his head to the side when Professor Bentley came over. What happened? "He's fainted professor. He's a bit weak in the gut, I'd say."

This was time to fool show Hogwarts that Milton was indeed a very nice boy. What a joke.

"Everyone, stay calm! I've got this!" Milton announced, spreading his arms out to give the sucker kid some space. Milton crouched down, scooped the kid in his strong, muscley arms, and lifted him up. "Shall I take him to the nurse, Professor?" Now that he was already holding him. 'Cause if not, he was just gonna dump him back down, soo....

Gideon was taken back, to be honest, by the young Ravenclaw's offer of help and willingness to do the extra, more dangerous work. This was a change from the others who seemed so involved in their own thing they weren't even interested in stepping forward themselves. He raised his eyebrow somewhat in reaction before turning to Professor Bentley to see her response. Would she even let Mika participate in the elder student's task and assist him?

It seemed she would seeing as she agreed to the option, leaving it up to the him to make the ultimate decision on whether he wanted to work with her or not. "Aye...alright," he replied offering Mika a polite smile. "Thanks," Gideon added as he turned to head back to his workstation and the Piranha plant that was to be their charge for the class.

"How about ye take the brushing while I handle the flossing?" the prefect suggested figuring with the toothbrush she wouldn't have to get too close. She might be brave and confident but Gideon wasn't about to let her get injured at his expense.

Alyssa held the plant's head with one hand holding the plant's lower jaw and the other holding open the upper jaw and keeping the plant's mouth open so that Milton could have better access to the plant's teeth. At least the plant's breath didn't smell so bad now. "Looks like we're finally getting there, Milton. I believe that this Piranha plant's teeth is actually beginning to look pretty good. Once you're done with the brushing, I'll finish off flossing up it's teeth and I believe that we'll be done. What do you think?"she asked the older boy.

Then something caught her attention. It was Oakey who had turned a whiter shade of pale.



Alyssa saw Oakey fall to the ground. Her first reaction was to run to help him but she realized that she couldn't do that as long as Milton was busy brushing the plant's teeth. She couldn't let go of the plant's mouth because it would end up snapping down on his hand. From her position, she called down to Oakey."Oakey....Oakey...Wake up. Someone!! We need help over here!!"

Then she saw that Professor Bentley had seen what had happened and was attending to him.



Then she realized that she didn't need to hold the plant's head at all since Milton was down on the ground helping Oakey. So she gently released the plant's head and moved over to stand next to Milton. "Is he okay? Oakey. Please wake up." Alyssa called out to him

Seren sighed. Poor Oakey ... though she had been expecting at least one person to take the plunge. Pity it had to be him, she had been hoping she could... fix... his fear of flesh eating plants. Whoops for trying?

"Yes.. that's probably best, he might have concussed himself or something." Yes. Kudos to Milton for standing up and taking charge of the situation.
"Are you all done here?" or more or less done?

Mika nodded brushing wasn't bad - the brush was ENORMOUS though but she didn't mind. Atleast this plant only had one giant head and not two small ones she had to clean? Brushing one head with multiple teeth seemed easier than two.

Picking up the brush she looked over to Gideon and took a step closer to the work station. Was it her or was the work station taller? No the plant was.

Putting down the brush she quickly dragged the stool she had used to sit on earlier over and placed it infront of the work station. Climbing onto it she made sure it wasn't too wobbly.

She was fine - taking the brush once more she began to attack the grimy tooth. Ugh this guy had bad plant breath - and that wasn't a good thing. "It has smelly breath I think no one wanted to partner because the breath knocked them out" she offered as a comical little line. Maybe it was too early but really - it was like the plant had eaten something...well disgusting?

Kennedy shrugged. He was more worried about the plant. John and his brute strength were capable of tearing the poor plant with that floss. Of course, Kennedy wasn't going to allow that to happen to Professor Bentley's plants. Uh-uh, he'd save them for her.

The Prefect caught John looking into the piranha's mouth just like he had. Unlike him though John would definitely try something if his curiosity got the best of him. Suddenly, Kennedy's thoughts were broken at the sound of a SNAP!

Oh Merlin. The boy hoped to all that was good that John had not snapped the plant's gums in half...or something. He looked down and released a breath of relief. It was the floss. PHEW! "Merlin, for a minute there I thought it was the plant," he said. John better lay off the peas. Kennedy nodded and took the floss. He stretched it to make the string go in a straight line and attempted to floss the teeth. Except there was one problem. Now that he wasn't holding the piranha's jaw open he didn't have a good angle to start flossing.

He looked up. "John, um, a little help," he said. Open it's mouth so he can get flossing.

Milton nodded gravely. Concussed. Yes. Very bad. Mhm. "It would be my honor to take him to the nurse." Honor? Maybe he was talking this hero stuff to seriously... Would he get house points for this? Because that would be super cool. If not... Well, that would just suck. But at least he looked nice, right?

"Yeah, we're pretty much done here." Milton said, gesturing to their piranha plant. No thanks to the scrawny kid who passed out.

Good thing Milton was strong. "Shall we go then?" That question was half-directed to Bentley and half-directed toward Oakey who obviously could not respond. But whatever.

With Mika taking up the toothbrush, Gideon took up the supplied minty flossing twine from the station himself after making sure his gloves were securely on. The older boy preparing for the task at hand, glad that the plants were in fact sedated. Less chance of getting fanged that way and loosing a limb that way.

He watched as his partner adjusted to the taller plant herself, taking the stool from her own workstation and stepping on it to be higher up herself. Making sure she was steady, he wrapped a piece of the twine around his fingers so he had a good grip and went to work starting with the middle top teeth of the Piranha plant.

He couldn't help chuckling at her comment as he worked, shrugging one shoulder before moving on to the next gap. "Who knows...that could very well be," he mused, having to agree on the whole smelly breath. She sounded like a mother scolding its child - but she was a girl scolding a plant that was nearly twice her size. "This guy sure has a lot of gunk in its mouth" she commented at the plant and Gideon at the same time as she continued to clean the teeth.

It took a moment for the 14 year old to understand what was being said. At the moment the Piranha plant was attempting to close it's mouth. Even sedated and half asleep the thing had some strength in it's jaws. After a few tense seconds of maneuvering she felt her grip was back to where it should be. After all she didn't just have her own fingers to thing about.

Penny glanced at Kurumi as her words finally penetrated her brain. That seemed like a plausible design flaw in the plant though given that it was a plant it didn't follow the same rules that the animal kingdom did. She gave a mental shrug though and trained her grey eyes back on the task at hand.

Finally it seemed that the brushing portion was over. When she was sure Kurumi's hand was out of biting range the Ravenclaw removed her own and let the poor thing relax it's mouth for a moment. Well, this lesson wasn't SO bad.

Wait?....What?.....

Penny's eye flashed between the floss and the plant. She filled her lungs with several gulps of fresh air and then reached for the floss. Time to Cowboy up! She certainly wasn't going to loose face with a Gryffindor, especially since she was there Prefect. Efficiently she cut off a huge section of the mint smelling floss and twirled the two ends around her index fingers leaving a taut section suspended between them.

"Okay nurse," she drawled, "Open 'er up." She smiled at her partner and waited for Kurumi to open it's mouth back up. Idly she found it strange that her southern accent got thicker (didn't think that was possible) when she was nervous.

Alyssa was torn. "Uh...Professor I am only halfway through flossing the teeth but if Milton is going to taking Oakey to the Hospital wing, I won't have anyone to help me to hold the head open. At the same time I also want to see how Oakey but I guess I can do that once I'm done with the plant. I'm confused, Professor. Right now I don't know what to do. " Alyssa confessed.

Inspecting the plants fangs, Seren shrugged. "I'd say given the circumstances, it's fine. You're both free to go. I assure you the plant won't die of tooth decay."
And fainting Badgers were more important. Were they not?

Alyssa was glad that the Professor had helped her make the decision for her. "Thank you for giving me permission to leave. I promise to return and help clean up once I know that Oakey is okay." Alyssa said as she removed the floss from her gloved hands and threw it in a nearby bin before removing her dragon hide gloves, grabbing her backpack and ran after Milton.

Gideon had to admit he was a little apprehensive as Mika stuck her hand into the plant's actual mouth to apparently work on the backside of the teeth she had been brushing. There had been a reason that the younger students hadn't been given work on the plant in question after all...right? And she did look a bit nervous as the whole situation.

"Um...how about ye stick to just brushing the outsides of this guy's teeth for now," he suggested as a seemingly better idea. Then both the Ravenclaw and he himself didn't have to be so worried about something wrong happening. A win-win situation. He could certainly do the backsides himself later on when he was done with the flossing.

Done with the top middle sets of teeth, Gideon switched to the bottom set. He adjusted the twine in his grasp a little to regain a hold and began weeving it between the next pair of teeth. "Makes ye wonder a little about what caused the gunk," he returned. A little Floss floss here and a little floss floss there.

Zack was pretty sure that he did a good job with the front teethes. He wasn't sure if he could do that with the end ones as well. He opened the mouth of the plant and with the brush in his right arm and trying to hold it still from his left he moved his brush to the inner part of the plant.

It was all very gross from the start of the activity he was so full of irritation that now it was hard for him to control. Anyhow he managed to reach the left side of the mouth first to start cleaning them first before the right ones. He moved his brush up and down and side by side trying to have a clearer view he bend a little and a smell grew that he couldn't tolerate.

He moved back a little and took a deep breath before make any further movements. He tried to hold his breath as he moved forward towards the plant again. He tried cleaning them as quickly as possible but they seemed to take much longer time the front ones.

Damn! what do the eat to get so dirty? he wondered but the he already knew the answer for that one. He started rubbing the brush again against the teeth and cleaned them till it looked a bit brighter then before. Slowly slowly they were getting to the point to shine. He was impressed with his work as he saw them shining a bit. He smiled and looked at the right side this time and the smile faded as quickly as it appeared. Things just get worse and worse!. Time to move on with the right side.

Kurumi rolled her shoulders for a few moments and slowly opened and closed her hands to let the blood flow return to her fingers. She hadn't realized just HOW hard she had been gripping the brush until now and it was almost as if her hands were permanently stuck on the gripping position. Not good.

Thankfully, this wasn't the case and Kurumi's hands were free and still had their dexterity. SAFE!

Looking over her shoulder as the Ravenclaw cut herself some of the floss, Kurumi nodded and was just about to tickle the plant under its chin to have it open its mouth when....she was being called nurse? Hmm? Kurumi couldn't help but cock her head to the side in mild confusion. She wasn't a nurse...in fact, Kurumi fainted at the sight of blood. So no, she was not nurse material at all.

Shrugging her shoulders, and not entirely catching the sudden change in speaking pattern with the Ravenclaw, Kurumi tickled under the piranha plant's chin with one hand and stroked its nose with her other which immediately caused the plant's mouth to hang open in delight. "Sweet spot," Kurumi giggled. Almost exactly like Xavier.

Kurumi continued to pet and stroke the plant when... "Ew...look out for your shoes..." Kurumi whispered as she noted the rather large glob of drool forming in the corner of its mouth.

Mika nodded right - not sticking her hand inside the plants mouth was probably a good idea. If the sedated plant suddenly were to become un-sedated she'd have lost all the way up to her shoulder. That would not have been good at all.

"Right. front sides - good idea" Mika nodded as she moved on to brush the front side of the middle tooth. There - this plant was ironically very familiar looking to her. "You know...I think i've seen a plant like this before - but in a muggle school play - at least I think they were muggle...the musical 'Little Shop of Horrors'" she added with a little nod "it was about a giant flesh eating plant" yeah thats all she got from the meaning of the story. Be wary of flesh eating plants.

"well...it was an alien - and yeah...its not it but it looks like it same colors as the one in the play i saw...what has he been eating to get this gunky?" She asked questioningly after babbling a bit. She only babbled because she was excited to be cleaning a BIG plant she was so going to tlel her housemates about this one later.

Moving her brush in a circular pattern she couldn't help but notice how easy it was to move the brush now - the tooth was almost clean. Not squeaking clean but almost there.

Come back? Later? ... Was there much point?
"The class will be finishing up soon, so there's not much point in returning. Otherwise you'll likely be on your own. Just see to it that Oakey is fine.." she replied with a nod. The others could handle cleaning up.

NO SENSE OF HUMOR ALERT!!!!

Penny gave a wry smile to no one in particular as Kurumi gave her an odd look. It had only just dawned on her that the Prefect hadn't gotten her joke at all.

Awkweeerrrddddd.

Kurumi's shrug jogged Penny out of her astonishment and back to the task at hand. Right. So no more joking. Gotcha. Though her astonishment came right back and cranked up a few more notches as she watched her partner tickle the plant into opening it's mouth! Seriously?! The Ravenclaw decided to hide her incredulity behind her work so she set to flossing the blasted plants teeth, albeit gently. Her curiosity got the better of her though.

"Where did you learn to do that?" She had spoken at the same time Kurumi spoke so it took a moment to absorb what she said. Penny jerked her foot but she hadn't been fast enough. A large glob of drool landed on the toe of her left shoe. Penny looked down at her shoe and frowned.

Fabulous.

As Isaac spoke again, Stella gave him an odd look. If she wasn't interpreting things wrong, it sounded like he was saying that he'd decided to let her do the brushing because it would keep her safer. While that didn't really bother her, it just wasn't exactly something she'd expected. Even if she still used Matt as her idea of what a Slytherin was like, and she knew he'd want her safe no matter what. That was an entirely different case, and she'd just met Isaac. She wasn't about to let him approach the plant without backup, though. He was right on another thing. The piranha plant definitely had sharp teeth.

She still wasn't entirely certain of the advisability of flossing before brushing, but in the same respect, Professor Bentley hadn't stopped them. Therefore, it must not be completely wrong, and as long as the plant's teeth got cleaned, she figured it didn't matter how it happened. Shifting the brush to one hand, she reached out gingerly and stroked the head of the plant as it looked like the Slytherin was preparing for reaching into its mouth with the floss. All she had to do was pretend she was petting her sister's dog, and hopefully it wouldn't bite anyone's hand off. She held her breath as he'd started flossing, though. She wouldn't be comfortable until they were finished, and she was half tempted to suggest she just follow right behind him. Brush the teeth he'd just flossed and then maybe they'd be done quicker.

Until the plant shuddered under her hand, and she jumped along with Isaac, nearly dropping the toothbrush on the ground. "Are you alright?," she asked the boy. He hadn't gotten bitten or anything, had he?, she thought. It didn't seem so, as he had reached forward again to continue flossing. It only made her more determined to finish this once and for all, though. No matter how teerified she was, she wasn't going to back down, and she reached over again to resume stroking the plant's head Stay calm, stay calm, she kept repeating silently. Not sure if she was talking to the plant or herself.

Was Kennedy seriously concerned about the plant? Nope! To John, Kennedy was concerned about the lion's safety but used the plant as an excuse...yup, that's exactly what it was. "Oh don't worry so much about me Kennedy, I'm just fine." John teased as he chuckled.

He drove his attention away from his notes and onto Kennedy. "Oh snap, my bad" John said as he held the piranha's mouth open, with his right hand as he was much more agile with his left hand. Yeah as you can imagine, his mind wandered off.

I wonder what would happen, if I let go the plant? Will his hand be chopped off or will he make a James Bond move and get out of the way? the seventh year lion thought to himself.

He began to use the savvy skill of multitasking, by preparing the tooth brush with his left hand. Aside from having the amazing skill of photographic memory, he was also a great at multitasking! It came in handy when dealing with projects like these.

Derrick looked around.''Yeah sure.''He said smiling.''Well I Guess we better start then.''He looked around and grabbed a tooth brush.''I'll start with the brushing,we don't have long left.''He said and got to work.

Kennedy raised an eyebrow at John and was about to correct him that his worry was toward the plant, but didn't have the heart to tell him that. "Right," he said, slowly. But it wasn't like he was going to let the piranha bite his head off or anything. Plus, the plant was still sedated.

Finally, time to floss these sharp looking teeth. Kennedy took a more firm hold on the floss and carefully pulled it back and forth between each tooth and made sure he didn't over do it. No bloody gums for his plant. He repeated that on the bottom teeth and made sure that he didn't miss any spot. After he was done with that he took another piece of floss and began doing the top. This was actually very calming. Maybe he would volunteer to help floss plants' teeth.

The boy looked up and caught John thinking. Hard. That was bad. John only thought REAL hard when he was up to something. Kennedy stepped closer to the piranha, ready to become a plant shield if needed be. He was obviously oblivious to John's real thoughts. Kennedy set the worn out floss on the table and looked over at the instructions.

Brushing. Interesting.

He turned to John and said, "You want to give it a go?" Kennedy said, grinning with a hint of mischief in his eyes, and gestured

That made the little Gryffindor blink a few times while staring back at the fanged geranium. ''Ooooh!'' she exclaimed then...a large smirk appeared on her face. ''That's very interesting!'' she turned to the professor. ''Thanks for the info, professor!!''

Then she turned back to her plant, it was time to continue cleaning. She had brushed the whole line of upper teeth and they all seemed clean and good. So it was time to brush the lower line of the teeth. Adjusting the brush in her hand, Lea was thinking if the name Gera fit a plant that was both a he and a she while brushing the teeth.

Hmmm...

Gera did not sound boyish or too girly so she decided it was good.

Phewwww! what a mess he was muttering under his breath unable to control his feeling towards the plant. He was going to get sick any moment now but before that he needed to complete his work. He had never thought in his life tha he would be here cleaning a flesh eating plant's teeth. This is horrible! he continued muttering.

As he was almost completed with his work only one part was left that was the right side of the mouth. He quickly grabbed the toothbrush and took a firm grip on the brush moving it inside the mouth towards the right of the mouth. He started brushing the teeth with whatever energy he had left after all that cleaning. He moved the brush upside and downwards in order to clean it properly, so that they started giving out shining results.

He still wasn't satisfied with this work sohe kept on brushing a bit more and finnally he gave up wht the were bright and clea. So now the whole moth was shining and bright! he was all done eith the brushihgn part on the teeth now. There wan't much left to clean. He was smiling now.
