It was a long walk down from the Divination Tower to the lawns that sprawled out infront of Hogwarts Caslte and hopefully you didn't let your shaws drag or trip over your skirts. Professor Elwood is already waiting for you when you arrive, she too has dressed up as a stereotypical forune teller complete with about 5 shaws, a purple turban and about 10 pounds of necklaces.
When you arrive please line up close to her and wait for instructions.
OCC: Be sure you have posted in this thread before coming here.
** The thread will remain open so that you can continue to work on your carts and I've decided to keep it open until Noon (12pm EST) on Saturday, May 12th.
Climb inside to decorate the inside? If Selina's thoughts could be testified in a court of law, she knew she was would have ended up in Azkaban. Merlin, Kurumi had gotten so wrapped up in the decoration side of the assignment that she had forgotten that the two of them were racing to pass a finish line. This was no time to dottle she had always wanted to use that word, check that off her bucket list. So her face grew red when Kurumi even contemplated forefitting racing so that they could have a paint party. They could always do that LATER!
Grabbing onto the handle tightly, she turned around to her friend and said, "This is a race, not a decorating party. We can do that later! Merlin!" With that she was off and running down the grounds towards their divination Professor. This was a lot harder than she had originally anticipated. At first, she thought that the tough part was going to be assembling the mechanism, but running 30 yards while carrying Kurumi, although she was not heavy, was REALLY HARD. Perhaps she had a little more training to do than she had thought before Quidditch season had started.
As she ran the fist twenty yards, she coughed and breathed heavily trying to get air to her lungs. But once she hit the twenty-one yard mark she started to exclaim random words and phrases to help her reach her goal in a therapeutic way, "Merlin... CART... running... WHY?? Quidditch... not ready... cookies.... nap.... RUN!"
The last five yards, she ran them over a rock which made the cart hop a little, but then she saw the end in sight. Finding some energy deep within herself, she sprinted the last five yards and passed the finish line!
Then she released the handle and collapsed on the ground, "AHHHH!"
Professor Elwood stood up straighter as she saw that one group was finished and beginning to run directly at her. The Divination Professor clapped as they continued to make their way to the finish line and had to jump out of the way at the last minute--that Quidditch Captain was running fast, yet blindly.
Once she picked up her fallen turbin, the woman grinned happily and looked at the girls. "Congradulations Selina and Kurumi dears, you two will both get 5 bonus points."
"Everyone, we have our first winners! There is still time for one more team to cross and earn bonus points!" They had all done so well so far.
OCC: Even though these two won first, there is room for one more team. After them, continue to do it b/c you will still be earning regular house points for participation. Good work eeveryone!
I am heading off to sleep b/c I have a pretty bad cold and am not feeling the greatest but I WILL see who wins and such so no worries there. If another group wins just continue to post and get your group across.
"Ariana," she smiled. "Nice to meet you." Nerida and Butterfly were such pretty names! Ariana wished she was named something like that instead of being stuck with boring old Ariana. Bleh.
"And I think we're supposed to use the sticking and unsticking charms, right?" Adhaero, Avexis, Adhaero, Avexis. Must. Memorize.
"So maybe something like..." Ariana trailed off, imagining a wagon with five pieces of wood stuck together, then perhaps two axles through the sides and two wheels on either? But how to get the axles into the slabs of wood...
It took Ariana a moment to remember that neither Nerida nor Butterfly could understand her thoughts, so she accio'ed five large pieces of wood, two axles, and four wheels over to where she and her two partners were standing, and then she began to attempt to make the wagon.
She lined up two wood slabs and pulled out her wand. "Adhaero," she said, and then tugged on the two pieces. Firmly stuck together. Perfect. Oh wait, there were other people. She should probably explain.
"I was thinking just a simple topless box, then punch four holes in it and add wheels on axles. Any objections or suggestions?" Wait, since when was Ariana in charge? Since she was the oldest, she guessed. Shrug, whatever.

Minerva was still trying to get the wheel when she finally figure it out. She put it together and tied the knot. She hurried and did the forth and final one as well. She moved quickly to put them on parallel to the ones Damon had done she pointed at each knot "Ahd-high-row" making sure it was good and secure. "Okay now we need to get the wheels into the base." she put two wheels in the back of the cart and pointed her wand "Ahd-high-row" then she went and did the front wheels "Ahd-high-row" "Now the cart is made, what's the next step?" she said quickly trying to hurry.
Sierra stared at the professor in complete disbelief. This was a magical class, and they were building a fortune teller cart?! Blahh. Sierra hated lessons that dealt with non-magical topics. She was a pureblood witch raised in a pureblood world. Plus, she now had to find a partner...or at least a group. Hopefully somebody decent and not annoying still needed a partner. She peered around the room, looking for at least a good Slytherin to work with.
"Does anybody still need a partner?" she asked. "Or, can anybody use another group member?" Someone good, please.

Seeing the girl had asked two more people to come into the group. She just stared and the the ground for a split second and then looked at both of them. One girl was the Slytherin prefect and one was a younger Ravenclaw. That sounded like a good group.
Yeah, why don't you join?" she said with a small smile at them both. Hopefully they weren't as cluless as herself.
Beezus was startled. They were going to build a wagon and race? What was happening to Divination? Gaah, really...there was no time to think about that anymore. All she needed now was a team mate. And danng! She couldn't pair up with Indy because they were both third years. Now, she gotta find another one.
Oh, lookieeee. Their Head Boy was looking for someone to work with. She unlatched the shawl on her neck, and tied it to her waist as she walked to where the Head Boy was. "Heyyyyyyyy.....you're older than me so we can team up, I think." NO. THEY SHOULD TEAM UP. Because the other teams were already working and...racing.

"Its nice to meet you Paulie, I'm Kaiden." he told the other two. As the older boy gave them instructions, Kaiden nodded. "Sounds good, Lets do this."
The boy ran over to the lumber, and tried picking a few pieces up. They were too awkward to run with so he walked as fast as he could to where they had been standing. Hurrying back to the lumber, he grabbed a few more pieces and made it back to their pile. They just had to get this thing put together. "Now what?"

"Yes head Boy. I already know your name." Who didn't? He was the one Louisa with when she was sent to detention and he was Paulie Juice as her fellow eagle liked to call him. "Oh..and Beezus," she introduced herself with a wave, in case they didn't know.
MERLIN! And why was she still waving there? Paulie was right. This was a race and they needed to work fast. "Yes, yes. Fetch wheels. I'm on it." And she dashed off to the large pile of wood, wheels and errr..the things they needed.
"Wheels..wheels..There!" Yeah..the pretty round ones. "And I need...errr..four?" She was grabbing 'em now. "Ugh..better just get six to make sure.." And she did, her hands VERY full with what she was carrying. Good thing she had transferred her shawl round her waist, because it would've been quite a great distraction.

Glad that Liesel had agreed they would be a good addition, Zhenya walked off to get a long piece of wood. She carried it back over to the group and plonked it on the ground and kneeled next to it. This could be the floor, obviously. She looked at the members and asked "Who wants to ride in it?" because, obviously a lighter member would be best. They wouldn't have to secure it so much, but she wasn't going to say that out loud.
She looked around to see what other people were doing, and got up again. "So... we need walls and stuff. How did we want to style it?" she asked. She gathered some more wood and layed it on the ground in a line as to make a wall. Hmm... now they needed to stick the logs together...

Harvey watched with amazement as Minnie quickly got all 4 wheels onto the cart with the sticking charm.. she had worked really quickly to get those wheels up onto the cart.. it now looked more like a cart than it did before.. ok so the base was done.. the 4 wheels were on and so were his walls now to put on the handle or puller or whatever it was called.. he went and got the handle that they needed and positioned it so that it would stick just right to the cart.. "Ahd-high-row" he said as he tried to get the handle stuck to the cart.. but it looked a tiny bit off.. "A-Wek-sis" he quickly re-postioned the handle "Ahd-high-row" and he re-stuck it and tested it to make sure that it didnt fall off the cart and was strong enough for them to pull across the line. "Mins handle is on!" he told her quickly as soon as he was done.. what was next?

So now that they had a team of three members they could finish their work faster, yeah?
'So lets fetch all the things we'll require okay?" Saying so, Ira dashed to the pile, to pick up the wheels, some wood.. and everything else they needed. They three needed to work fast.
Carrying all that wood was hard work. And her arms already had few scratches. That skirt that Ira was wearing wasn't at all comfortable for doing this work!
He glanced over Selena. Duh. They could use magic.
Kennedy shook his head at himself. He was a wizard, now, time to use the magic running in his veins.
The prefect studied the board Selena had hovering. Okay, how should they start this. There were several ways, but since they had a full group he wanted to make sure everyone fit in there. Well, minus him since he was going to be pulling the cart. "I think we should stick the walls on the floor board and see how much space there is before sticking the wheels on," he said.
Kennedy nodded. "Here." He took out his wand and pointed it at another wood board and positioned it over what would be the base. "Someone do the sticking charm," he said. It was a good idea to start with the base and walls first.
Mika almost felt like screaming and hiding when she saw the Slytherin Prefect boy. He was after all the one who recognized her as the cauldron cake launcher during the feast.
Maybe projectiles wasn't the best idea? Yeah.
No it wasn't the best but it was fun.
Walls to the floorboards - that sounded smart. She just looked BIG-eyed at he boy as he was helping her out. She almost felt like SQUUEing when she realized he was being helpful. Helpful was good. Good. No it was GREAT!
Mika nearly jumped pointed her wand at the walls of the ALMOST wagon and cast the sticking charm. Now to see if the magic worked.

Nerida flipped out her wand and said Adhaero and sticked one of the loose pieces of wood. She thought if she should just go ahead and start on the wood, or if this would be a bad idea or not, but she decided it would be good to see if it would work, right? Or should she just stick the wheel on... She thought it would be better to just ask instead of ruining it!!
She said Should we make a hole or should we just stick on the wheel to the wood?

Well, that didn't take long. "Yeah, cool. Thanks," Sierra said, walking over and joining the group of three. Now four, since she was joining. She looked away long enough to see Hollingberry and the Gryffindor Quidditch captain win the race. Of course they won. Hollingberry always had to win everything, didn't she?
"Ugh," she mumbled. "Well, I don't think we have much time to discuss what type of cart we should make. It looks like winners are already being announced," she said. They might not have much time left. "I think we should just start building the shape of a cart and see what we end up with." As long as it got them across the finish line and scored them the points, she didn't care what they ended up with.

As long as they had the required parts, the look of the wagon didn't matter to her. "So those pieces," she said, pointing to the two pieces the fourth year (aaetha) had fixed together, are what part?"
"What if we make that the floor?" she suggested, pointing to the pieces the girl had stuck together. "Then this could be the left wall." Sierra picked up two boards and lined them up side by side. "Adhaero!" she said, swishing her wand. The two pieces stuck together. Then she took them and lined them up just next to the piece she'd suggested be used as the floor. If this didn't work, they could always unstick it. "Adhaero!" she said again, and stuck her piece to Ariana's piece.
OOC: I'm not sure what part you were building there, but I went ahead and assumed it was the floor. So I just had her add the left wall. Maybe the next to post can add the right wall? Then we'd have floor, left wall, and right wall. If this worked, the cart now looks like this: L

"Hey Ronnie, awesome now we've got 4!" They should get it all done in no time now, right? "Nice te meet the both of ye. This is Ronnie." Chewing on his lip he grabbed some of the wood as he thought glancing at Pyrsephonie and Nigel "Well I think thet one of ye younger te should be in the wagon. Yer smaller and lighter, making it easier te pull ye in the wagon. "What ye think?" he asked the other 3 in his team. He wasn't gonna tell them what to do, they needed to work this together!
Let's see they needed a base for the wagon...Laying a bunch of boards side by side the length of each one against each side. Then picked up two shorter boards for each end. Laying one board on one end of the boards he tapped it saying "adhaero."
Looking up "One end done."
Nigel show what Issac was doing and went to help on the other end of the cart and started using the adhaero charm to make the other boards stick to together. Nigel started to say "Umm if its alright with you maybe i should be in the cart since i am the shortest and lightest, if its alright". He then went to get the wheels they needed as fast he could
because it was a race after all. When he got back he used the adhaero charm again to try and make the wheels stay on but he was having a little trouble doing it for some reason. He then asked a teammate to help him. "Can anybody help me with these wheels"

Harvey watched as Minnie quickly decorated the cart from the outside an orangey color?! ok whatever she liked.. once this was done she proceeded to get into the cart to do the inside of it.. and did it the same color.. well you wouldnt know what was inside and what was outside like that.. but it was her choice and there was no time to argue over the color right now.. once she asked what everyone thought Harvey knew she was done.. he quickly grabbed the handle.. time to freak her out he thought with a grin on his face "Damon, Taylor.. she is in!!!.. push the cart from the back and I will pull it across the line .. come on we can do this!!!" he said as he proceeded to start the pulling of the cart hoping they would help by pushing from behind.. they had nearly done it.. just needed to get it across the line.

Once they had all gotten their proper wood and wheels, Paulie gave a nod. "Right. So, it looks like we can get away with putting three pieces of lumber together to make the base - where one of you will sit," because Paulie's lanky frame wasn't gonna cut it, "So, let's start by using the 'Adhaero' spell to attach the pieces of wood together for the 'floor,' so to speak. After that, we'll move on to the walls."
After slipping his wand out of his back pocket, he swished his wand and spoke, "Ahd-high-row!" And so attached two of the wooden boards.

Glancing over towards Nigel as he headed for the wheels, Isaac looked over at the boards he'd stuck together. Well the kid learned quickly! That was definitely a benefit. If he needed help though he hoped he'd ask for it!

Carrying all that wood was hard work. And her arms already had few scratches. That skirt that Ira was wearing wasn't at all comfortable for doing this work!

Following the one whose name she didn't know, she looked at the pile of... stuff they needed, and turned around to her other team mates. "Let's all try and move these together, it'll probably be much easier." Or levitating them is considered cheating?

As Sierra waited for her group to add some more input, she picked up a few pieces of word and rearranged them on the ground, trying to get a good feel for how their wagon should look. How were they supposed to add holes in them? Weren't there other charms for that? Her eyebrows narrowed inward as she tried to picture what Ariana had suggested.
She moved two pieces together to form the floor. Then she took one board and moved it around the sides, imagining four walls being there. Then she looked down at the floor as a thought crossed her mind for the second time. "So if she only wants us to use the sticking and unsticking charms, how are we meant to make the holes for the wheels?" she asked. "I think we'd just have to stick those on, too."
She let the wood she'd been experimenting with fall to the ground. "Okay, so we've got a floor and a left wall now. Right wall, anyone?" she asked.
