As you enter you notice how immaculate the classroom is. Every row is in perfect line and there is no dust to be found on the desk. Please stand behind a desk when you enter, DO NOT sit until the professor tells you to do so otherwise you'll have to go outside and do it again.
At the back of the classroom is an area that is sectioned off with a maroon curtain. Please do not go back there until the professor tells you to do so.
Mrs. Bellaire is standing by the front waiting to welcome you all in.

Glad that they could finally take a seat, Nora sat down and took out a few pieces of parchment and her quill in case she needed to take some notes. She was also glad that she passed the professor's creepy scanning. As for her question... she raised her hand. "I know that it has nothing to do with Transfiguration, as some might think at first, so we cannot conjure or change the form of anything. A charm can only change the colour of something, for example, or make it levitate."
Now, let's just hope that the professor would understand what Nora tried to say.
João thought about the words for a moment. She wasn't really asking about the rules, was she? It had to be the Charms in general... because every professor, as if it was a rule in the teacher's book or something, started off with the same question, whose answer pretty much everyone had memorised: What is blah blah? Thus, raising his hand up to answer, the boy said "Charms is one out of seven defined spell types. It focuses on changing what an object does and it can add to an object."

Alyssa was glad that she passed muster with regards to her appearance. She quickly too her seat before listening to the Professor's first question.
Alyssa was caught off guard by the Professor's question. What the Charms Discipline was? She was sure that it had to do with Charms and duh...of course discipline which usually was related to laws and what should and not be done. So she decided to hazard an hopefully educated guess. Alyssa raised her hand and gave her answer.
"Professor is the Charms Discipline like a Code of Conduct we need to observe when casting spells. It's like an unsaid law of do's and don'ts like for example not to cast a charm on someone that might end up harming them?. Alyssa hoped that she at least made sense.

What is Charm discipline? Blink. Umm...Hannah was not sure how to answer the question and was a little worried about what the professor would do if she said a wrong answer. She looked like the type to make her clean something without magic. Gross!
She decided to atleast attempt an answer...the professor would appreciate particpation right? Surely. With her hand in the air Hannah replied "Professor I think it is being careful when you are casting a spell. Focus and concentrate. With spellwork so many things could go wrong." She hoped she was on the right path.
Cornelius was glad that he hadn't taken a seat when he first entered the room, as was his normal instinct, and had instead glanced around himself to find that no one was daring to sit down. The last thing he wanted was to get in trouble first day with the new Professor. But just as he thought he was in the clear, she was mentioning their uniforms being neat and name tags. Light brown eyes widening slightly, Cornelius glanced down at himself only to find that his tie was slightly lopsided and one of his shoe laces wasn't tied. Not to mention his hair. His eyes widened further, obviously unable to see his hair but knowing it must have been a mess. He didn't have much time that morning, he woke up late!
And so, all in a matter of seconds as the Professor was on the other side of the room, Cornelius Rune ducked down to tie his shoe before quickly standing up, trying to adjust his tie as casually as possible so as to not draw attention to himself. And then, there was the matter of his hair. The best he could do was try to organize it a bit, running a hand through it a couple times before realizing that there really wasn't that much he could do to fix it entirely without a mirror. Luckily for him, it wasn't that bad, but it sure wasn't neat.
The 6th year took his seat as they were instructed to do so, simply listening to everyone answer the question as he became preoccupied with making his own name tag.
Cornelius Rune 6th Year
Ravenclaw
Satisfied with his name tag, he absentmindedly fastened it to his robes, his light brown eyes following the train of conversation about the room.
Nate wrote down his name, year, and house on a piece of parchment paper.

Then he sat down when the professor said that they could. He listened really closely to the question that the teacher asked. This one was kind of tricky for him. So Nate just gave it his best try. He raised his hand and said "Professor, is sort of like the charms code of conduct." He tried to answer to the best of his knowledge. That was what he really knew about it.
Oh dear look at the time, she was almost running behind time. After walking the rows and inspecting each student's attire and name tag, Sophia smiled. She was satisfied.
She returned to the front of the class and beamed brightly. Everything and everyone was perfect.

"Now who can tell me what the Charms discipline is?"
The way the professor inspected the way they were dressed reminded him of his mother, and the way she nitpicked his dress when important people were coming over. But now he was glad he knew how to clean himself up. looking untidy was not how he wanted to get on this lady's bad side.
When it was finally time to sit, he pulled his chair out, letting is scrape on the floor. Then he took his seat, and sat up straight while to professor talked. After thinking about what a charm could be, he raised his hand and hazard a guess. "Isn't a charm like a little phrase that is supposed to do something. like 'rain, rain, go away' actually making it stop raining, or something."
Ameliah raised her hand. "The Charms discipline is similar to a code of conduct. We need to know it to be safe, such as in school, where we only perform magic upon request of the Professor." she answered.
Daisy looked up blankly, not taking in the question. But it was her first lesson of the year, she couldn't really be expected to answer, right? Hoping she wouldn't get picked on or anything, Daisy scribbled her name on the corner of the parchment and doodled absently, half looking at the Professor. Charms had been so fun last year... It had better be this year.

HHHMMMMMMMMM. This Professor was a bit strict and very intimidating... Elle almost hadn't made it past the uniform check and how embarassing would that be, having to leave the room while everyone stares at you fixing your shirttails, NOOOOOOoOooOoooo.
But she passed, and now she had to answer. She raised her hand. "Charms discipline is... a strict way of studying Charms? Cetrain rules and regulations you have to follow, I think..." Pleasedon'tbethewronganswer
I may have missed the start of class, but Nate certainly didn't!
Firestarter
Nate was resisting the natural response of his to gape at the new professor. Who was this woman, who had to have everything so strict, so proper? And what had happened to Professor Schirmer? Maybe charms wasn't going to be his favorite subject this year. At least Schirmer had allowed them some slack (not much, but some) when it came down to manners, uniforms, simply sitting in her class, tidiness, 'properness', and the like. Nate carefully kept himself from sighing as he stared down at his rather ornate name tag, which read 'Nathaniel Zacharias Stone, Ravenclaw, 3rd Year' in Nate's signature handwriting style, and of course in blue. This year was going to be a long one, he just knew it.
When the first question was asked, Nate slowly raised his hand (so as not to allow his cuff to move at all on his wrist, as he was sure that the new professor would notice that slight irregularity and unceremoniously subtract house points) and answered in a soft, yet dignified and strong voice that had a mixed American and British tone to it, a product of him spending the last year in the company of British-speaking folk. "Professor, Charms is a branch of magic that involves spells that are intended to be helpful and useful to us, and charms tend to alter how an object acts or behaves without altering the object itself."
There. He allowed his hand to slip down and rest, folded with his other, on top of the desk, careful not to let his elbows touch the table. At least he could play teacher's pet.

Right, the lesson. Oh man, the first question completely boggled Theodore's brain. So he just analysed it thoroughly, then raised his hand. "Is it where... you get into trouble for messing up in Charms class...?"
Discipline, ya know...
It meant getting into trouble, RIGHT? He was right. Oh goodness, was this teacher going to discipline them for their errors? Was he going to end up hung from the ceiling by his toes?
Meep.
Sophia frowned. Absolutely not. The boy could not be more wrong. Honestly there was such a thing as wizard prep, parents should look into it.
"No Mr.Kinsley, that is not what the Charms discipline is..or rather the discipline of Charms."

Once again a misinterpretation. It was not there fault however, she would know to not phrase anything like that to this particular set of students again.
"No Mr.McIntyre. I'm afraid you're wrong." Her frown intensified ten folds.

Because he had a specific face for that.
His head swivelled slowwwly, like a creepy puppet, to look at Theodore when the other firstie answered. West found himself nodding a bit and wondered about adding that it was probably using CHARMS to DO the disciplining?
Or like, do something horrible like CHORES or something.
But no, there were other meanings of discipline, right? So the charms... area of .... expertise and study?
West put his hand up, eyes front again. "What about like, the stuff that is charms as opposed to other kinds of spells? Thinks that aren't transfiguring and aren't defense..." He trailed off, confusing himself, "But sometimes those things are charms too right? They're... its.... enchantments for GOOD." Yeah. That. He blurted that last part, pleased. "You do good things with charms. But you could probably punish people too, if you wanted, or if you were creative, or if you like, made them do stuff they didn't like, even if other people liked that stuff cos not everyone likes or doesn't like the same thing?" Just to cover the other meaning of discipline?
He sort of waved his hand about, like he was fingerpainting in the air. "Curse breakers have to be good at charms!" Yeah! That was everything he knew. Or everything he could be bothered repeating back. Now he was bored of giving an answer. He put his hand down. West looked around and began imagining that people's eyebrows were caterpillars and they were all in an army under his control.

It took her a moment to sieve through everything Mr. Odessa had said but good Merlin! The boy actually understood what she had asked and answered the question...correctly..kind of, give an take a few things, or a lot of things really.
"Correct.Three points Mr.Odessa for understanding context." With a twirl of her wand, a gold star pinned itself to the front of his robe. She eyed the rest of them before moving on.

"I'm afraid you're off Miss McIntyre."
Well that was interesting. She best clarify things.
"The discipline of Charms students focuses on incantations or enchantments that adds or changes the properties of an object.. to put it simply." They needed simple, she NEEDED everyone on the same page, right now, they were not.
"Now I need everyone to follow me to the back of the classroom." She led the way down the corridor to the back and stood infront of the classroom to wait on everyone to gather. "First to third years on the right, fourth to seventh years on the left."

Sophie felt a bit better when the professor seemed brighter. She sat down when she was told to and finally smiled.
Raising her hand, she spoke in a polite tone. "This discipline is where we learn some useful spells that will help us in our day-to-day life!" Right? Right!

Okay. Theodore lowered his head slightly in shame. And as soon as she started praising West for his in-depth answer, his eyes narrowed a bit. Noooooooot fair. And what was that?! A gold star. Nope, not on. Next question, he'd beat that West.
He listened carefully to the professor's explanation, and it seemed simple enough. Wow, he was extremely wrong.
Standing up, Theodore quickly followed the professor to the back of the classroom and stood to the right.
What was thiiiiiiiis?

A... wait a minute! The charms professor put a HOLE in his new robes! No, West wasn't outraged, he was PLEASED. Besides having a nifty gold star for some reason, he also now had excuses to get holes in his uniform by accident himself. He could just say that the professor did it first so he wasn't actually spoiling his new robes at all. They were now officially old robes! And that was COOL!
Oh and three points?
... that was good, right?
West stood up like a rocket, eager to be allowed to move, but he had to stop and hold his hands up in front of him to double check which side was right and which was left. Errr... her right or his right? He waited a second and then followed after the other 1st to 3rd years that were already moving.
Of course, West bounced.

Nigel thought about the simplified answer she gave and he started to understand it. it was not about actual discipline but changing objects using words. He starts to follow her to the back of the room and went to the right with the rest of the first, second, and third years.

Jade Skidmoore listened as Professor Bellaire finally clarified the whole ordeal of everyone's answers. She thought to best be quiet as she didn't know the answer but she could lie to herself right? So yes, she did know the answer, not. However, she hoped she would be at least able to figure out the next question. Hopefully.
Professor Bellaire gave a new instruction and she followed her to the back of the classroom. She did as she was told; standing on the left, apart from everyone younger than she was. Oh goodness, what was going to happen now?
Jordan hadn't raised his hand to answer the question, he'd sat down and patiently waited for the answer to be given. He never really spoke that often anymore, not since the summer. He jotted down the answer to the question on his parchment and then followed the Professor and took his place on the right of the classroom. He nodded to Nate when he saw him, but didn't say anything mostly out of fear of being told off by the new Professor.

Lily watched the professor as the class proceeded to get answers wrong. That was just unfortunate and it seemed to make the professor upset. The little claw just sat there with wide open eyes and a face of shock. Never before had there been a professor that had been like this.
As the class moved on, Lily got up and followed the rest of the students to the back. How had a first year answered before she got a chance to and get the question right... and it wasn't even a Ravenclaw firstie... The redhead was just shell-shocked as to what had happened. Quickly, she made it over to the right side with the rest of the first to third years.
João smiled to himself when only the Slytherins seemed to have got it correct. That was all thanks to the previous professors, of course, who wouldn't just start a lesson without defining it first.
Getting up from his seat, he followed the professor and stood on the left side, wondering what would come next.
Well that was interesting. She best clarify things.

Without a word of complaint for Nate himself not receiving a gold star (even though he was entirely correct), he stood up from his desk, pushed in his chair, and moved over to the back of the room, following the way that the professor had gestured for each age group. As he filed in with the other students, Nate leaned over and whispered stealthily to the student next to him--who had a gold star, mind you--"This new professor is very different from the last. My favorite teacher, just gone, and none of us know where she went! She can be expecting an owl from me... I just hope this year goes well. Enjoying Hogwarts so far?" The kid looked like a first year, so it was just plain polite to ask what he thought of the school. Nate, for one, loved it in all its splendor... and secret passageways... and potential deathtraps... Okay, so there was quite a bit to be afraid of, if one didn't have any larger worries. Which Nate, unfortunately, did. This wasn't the time to fret on that, though. This was time for charms.
