There was a crisp, cool breeze outside, indicating that the holidays weren't too far away now. The leaves blow across the ground, racing you down to the greenhouses where Professor Bentley is waiting in Greenhouse Three.
Inside, Professor Bentley is standing beside two long rows of puffapod plants, each with pods bursting with seeds, just waiting to be harvested. Most of the students would recognise them from the previous year ... how time has flown! Stools are arranged along the perimeter of the raised flower bed, waiting for the students to be seated.

Granted, she was nervous herself, but that was just because of some of the other things that had happened to her last term in this class. She was determined to prove she could manage the snargaluff, to the professor and more accurately herself. She was still worried about getting injured, but so far things didn't look that bad. Scrapes, scratches... nothing that much different from the pixies, and as far as she could tell the snargaluff wasn't about to try and tangle her hair up. That gave it points in her eyes. Not many, but at least it made her feel better about the activity.
And she nodded as Vickers spoke again, offering to wrestle with the vines if she was alright with retrieving the pod. She smiled as he tentatively gave her the opening to get out of it, though. "Honestly? I'd rather not do either, but I think I can handle the pod better than the vines," she replied, glancing at the students who were currently struggling with said branches after speaking. She was strong, but that looked like a bit more than she wanted to deal with. Ducking and reaching seemed the better option, and besides, she'd have her gloves on.
So Stella will take care of the pod while he will test his luck with the branches. Just as he turned the vines dropped and hid themselves from view. He neared the plant sloooowly....
.... And the stump just sat there.
He was right by the snargaluff now and it seemed like it was just ignoring them. Puzzled, he turned to his fellow Claw and shrugged "Maybe it got tired?" It sure looked it. Thinking of saving Stella the trouble Vickers reached into the fissure that keeps the pod.....
.... And suddenly the sinewy branches came to life and attacked him full force!
The vines seized both his hands and the third one twisted itself around his torso. Vickers struggled with the plant, trying to pull the vines away so it would create even a small clearing for Stella to sneak her arm in. "Now Stella!" he yelped, gritting his jaw as he braced his own bones from getting crushed.

still holding the Pod in the air Oakey back away quickly when he saw the ropes undo themselves on the other vines. He looked at Kurumi who was still holing the one vine. Once he was a safe distance he hugged the pod to his chest and sat on his but breathing heavily. It didn't take to long after he sat that Oakey found himself laying down on his back. I-I can't believe I just did that! Oakey wanted to sleep right there and then but he took a good look at his right arm. The sleeve was ripped all the way to the cuffs and he had cuts and blood going all the way from his elbow to the palm of his hand. No time for sleeping He thought I just need to get this bandaged up He then turned his attention to Kurumi lifting his head slightly off the ground. How's your eye? He asked.
Kurumi continued to tickle with every ounce of energy left in her body as Oakey continued to fuss with the pod. The muscles in her arms were tightening and burning from exhaustion and she really needed Oakey to get the pod soon or else...
HE HAD IT?!
"Brilliant!" she chirped, ceasing her tickling for just a moment. But a moment was all it took. The vine wrapped itself around Kurumi's arm and attempted to pin her to the table. Almost too week to move, Kurumi struggled with the vine, eventually pulled herself free and making a dive towards the vines she had tied to the table earlier with the conjuring spell. "You at a safe distance?" she asked, looking over her shoulder. Good. He was. Kurumi pointed her wand at the ropes. "Finite."
All vines now free, Kurumi jogged over towards Oakey and wiped her brow. "Hmmm?" she asked, glancing at him and only now realizing that her one eye was still shut and throbbing slightly. "Oh, um, it's fine. I've had worse injuries before. Just need to put some ice on it and all will be fine," she reassured him. Kurumi then looked at the grapefruit sized pod in his arms and couldn't help but applaud him. "You were brilliant. Really, well done."
See? Made his own luck!

"Watch out!" he warned but Daichi saw that the boy had already seen the vine and had ducked under the vine.
Seeing him sticking his hand in the hole, Daichi tried to catch the freed vine as Jory searched but stopped when he heard Jory shouting that he got the pod. "Great!" Daichi shouted back and went back to trying to capture the vine that was whooshing back at Jory. "Jory! Jump left! but don't let the pod drop" he said for if the Hufflepuff moved to the left he wouldn't get hit and Daichi could grab the vine.
Jory, feeling triumphant and relieved they were almost done with this plant, suddenly heard Daichi's shout telling him to jump left. Closing his fist tightly around the pod, Jory hurriedly darted to his left. He barely made it for he could feel a bit of breeze as the vine snapped by close to his face.
"Daichi, watch out! Its heading for you!'' Jory shouted at the loose vine now headed in Daichi's direction. If it hit Daichi, he would probably have to go to the Hospital Wing.
"Yes. The same." he nodded curtly. Then he heard the boy answered his question. Okay then so that mean he was the one who will holding the vines. He just hoped that he was strong enough to hold it while Ryan plunges his arm into the hole. Messer waited patiently until its their time to extract a pod from a Snargaluff. "Are you ready?" he asked Ryan while made sure that his gloves were on.
Ryan made his way to his bag and quickly put on his gloves and returning to thepot. He listened and gave a small nod.''Ready.''He said then quickly plunged his arm into the pot.

Vickers struggled with the plant, trying to pull the vines away so it would create even a small clearing for Stella to sneak her arm in. "Now Stella!" he yelped, gritting his jaw as he braced his own bones from getting crushed.
It seemed like almost as soon as they'd agreed as to who would do which part of the activity, a snargaluff had become available. Stella really wasn't sure if she was ready, but Vickers had already started edging closer. Apparently she didn't have much choice, so she followed him, keeping a good foot or so distance between them as she made sure her gloves were secure. And there was absolutely no chance of the plant getting hold of her wand in its holster. That would be just what she needed, to stick her hand inside the snargaluff and end up snapping her wand in half. Everything seemed alright, though. Except for the fact the plant itself was being strangely docile.
"I... doubt that," she said tentatively, keeping clear as he made the choice to try and retrieve the pod himself. Something told her she wasn't getting out of this so easily, and as she watched, her prediction seemed to come true. Darting backward again as the branches whipped into action, her eyes widened as she suddenly thought about the Willow. More accurately, the damage those branches could cause, and she flinched as the vines had wrapped around her fellow 'Claw. She needed to do something, before he got crushed, and she thought about trying to grab a branch herself. He'd told her to try and get the pod before she could move, however, so she darted forward as she saw the small opening.
Reaching an arm forward, she managed to slide it through and into the opening. Searching blindly, she ducked to avoid being smacked in the head by what she hoped wasn't Vickers himself. "Where is it?," she blurted out, frustrated. Stupid pod was hiding or something, but she tried to move her arm around again to locate it.

Elise shuddered, as she stared at the vines that kept thrashing about. Walking towards it quickly, she nodded at Glenn to be careful. Grasping as many of the vines as she could, she held them as far away from Glenn as she could. But seemingly before Glenn could reach in, a vine slapped her arm and caused it to bleed.
Having a healer for a mother meant that the Healer instincts were passed down through loads of experience. Ripping off her sleeve, she made a makeshift bandage for Glenn's arm. Wrapping the white cloth around the small wound, she smiled. "Until you get a real bandage for that."
She had 2 extra sets of uniform anyway, so it didn't matter if one of them was ripped up for bandages. "Sure. Wait a moment, though."
Stepping away from the vicious plant, she wiped her slightly sweaty hands on her skirt before tackling it again, holding the vines away for Glenn. "Go!" she mouthed, nodding towards the open hole in the center. She'd better go before Elise lost her grip again.
Before Glenn could do anything to help herself with her cut, Elise had already ripped her sleeve and wrapped the make-shift bandage around her arm. Glenn stared open mouthed, "Your uniform..." She said, her mother would kill her if she had ripped one of her sets of her uniform.
She felt a bit better not having the blood in front of her any more. Glenn could never be a Healer like her older brother was, too much blood and all that icky gory stuff.
Glenn nodded and thrust her not bandaged hand into the hole in the center and snagged a pod. Yus! Success! Her hands were a little scratched but weren't even bleeding so she didn't worry about them. The point was that she had succeeded in snagging one!
Ryan made his way to his bag and quickly put on his gloves and returning to thepot. He listened and gave a small nod.''Ready.''He said then quickly plunged his arm into the pot.
"Okay then lets do this." Messer said while rolling up his sleeve so it won;t get dirty but he was sure it'll get dirty when he's done with the Snargaluff. He slowly made his way toward the plant, he didn't want to scare that plant. Who know what it'll do if he manage to scare it. The Snargaluff immediately lashed out with its spiky vines once he got a little closer with it. The young badger ducked in time before the vines hit him in his face. Quickly he reached as many vines he could hold with both of his hands. After a few failure attempts, Messer finally managed to tie the vine into a knot. "Now Ryan!" he told his partner. Or it might free itself from the knot and his grip.

At first, Sierra hadn't realized she'd been addressed. She was still so focused on scanning the room for anyone still needing a group that she nearly missed the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw who were talking to her. Finally turning around, she noticed that yes, she was actually the very girl being spoken to. Ehh, a Gryffindor. Sierra had never had much luck getting along with the Lions, but at least this one was offering a group.
"Mmkay, cool," she said, giving a nonchalant shrug. Err...she should thank them now, right? Argh. "Thanks," she added. She looked at both, silent for a moment, then said, "Sierra Greingoth. Fourth year Slytherin."
Spotting the Gryffindor checking to see that her gloves were on, Sierra did the same. Yup. They were there. "Okay, I'll help you tie the knots," she said, speaking up before the Ravenclaw could say anything. No way would Sierra sticking her hand into that plant. "Well, we're up," she said, noticing it was their turn for one of the plants. "Off we go."
Tayla nodded and on a whim decided to add, "Tayla Barnhill. Third year Gryffindor," although she had mentioned her first name already. The Snargaluff felt provoked as they approached, so Tayla could see the thorn-covered vines whipping through the air. She tried grabbing one but every time she did, she had to snap her arms back, the thorns narrowly missing them. "We need to...get it to...stop moving too much!" Tayla said as she tried to grab a vine. But she knew they couldn't stun the Snargaluff yet. Maybe a Freezing Charm? "Yikes!" she jumped, as she felt one vine spank her hand. Good think the gloves protected them well.
"Get ready to stick your hand in, Silvia," Tayla said. "You're alright with that, right?"
Without waiting for Silvia's answer and hoping the young Ravenclaw wasn't freaked out by the idea of her hand inside this plant thing, Tayla took her chance to pin down a couple vines. "Knot!" Was all she could manage to say to Sierra.

Silvia wasn't looking forward to sticking her hand into the gooey insides of such a dangerous plant, but it was probably the better role for her; she was very petite and wasn't sure if she would be strong enough the hold down the branches for very long. So she said, "I'm alright with it," and stepped in front of the plant, just outside of its reach. "I'm ready, I think," she said. She waited for the older girls to finish knotting the vines, her wand within reach in case she needed it.

Turning around she headed towards professor Bentely and was ready to hand her the pod. To he her attention she cough and said, "Professor? My group is done and I just came to give you the pod,"
"Ahh thank you dear," she said smiling, accepting the beautiful Snargaluff pod. Amazing things they were... simply amazing.

Elise shrugged nonchalantly, it didn't matter. She'd helped Glenn, who obviously couldn't stand the sight of blood and so it wasn't an issue for El anyway. "I have extra sets, I'll just change after class," she smiled. "I don't exactly have a mother to yell at me if I ruin any of these, either. Well... there's father, but he yells at me all the time..."
Shaking her head, she smiled at the kinda large-ish pod thingy in Glenn's hands. "How many do we have to get?" she asked, releasing the snargaluff vines and stepping away from them before they could do anything to her, but she moved a little too late.
A vine wrapped itself tightly around one ivory wrist and nearly tightened its grip. A very petite Elise was nearly flung across the room thanks to the plant. Wrestling with it, she prised the vine off her wrist with her fingers.
"That was my writing hand," she whispered, cradling her left hand. Glaring at the pant just barely, she stepped as far away from it as possible without bang-crash-booming into anything.

Her eyes didn't stay close for long because the darkness behind her lids only contributed to allowing her imagination run wide with imagines of her evil snargaluff, forcing her eyes to fly back open.
Kacie tugged at the pod, trying to pull it loose. Please don't eat me. Please don't eat me. Please don't eat me. She thought, all of her concentration shifting to getting the pod that she was no long worrying about the vines since it was Giddy's job to hold them. So she didn't notice the first two vines that Giddy had tied, slowly coming undone the more they wiggled.
"I GOT IT!!!" She yelled to Giddy, the moment the pod popped free and she pulled her arm out of the stump before it really did eat her. She was actually quite pleased with herself that she had faced a snargaluff and won... well almost won. As Kacie turned to quickly get away with her prize only to come face to face with the first two vine who had just freed themselves of the knot. Uh oh!!!
She stood there petrified to the spot. Her mind running wild on her again and she didn't even need to close her eyes. The world seemed to be spinning with evil eyes and that mouth from the snargaluff in dream... ready to devour her if only the vines caught her.
I'm DOOMED! DOOMED!! DOOMED!!!
Was the only thing going through her head as she stood there, as one vine started to wrap around her. Kacie eyes looked ready to roll up into her head on the verge of fainting from the shock, unable to conquer this fear of hers.

Kacie barely acknowledged that someone had come to her rescue, but even after the girl had helped unwrap the vine she was still unable to move, her feet rooted to the spot. If this happened whenever she's faced with something she fears, then she would be in big trouble. She didn't know how everything will be alright when she was facing the only thing that ever frightens her half to death... cursed snargaluff. She wish this was a nightmare that way should could just wake up and have it come to in end, but it wasn't. She was stuck in the middle or wiggling vines, trying to free themselves of the knot Giddy had tied them in. Their pod still clutched in her hand.

He felt the touch of his charmed rabbit's foot resting on his chest and Harvey's Quidditch goggles pressed against his forehead holding beads of sweat from dripping in his eyes. Could you show me how you did that Rope-thing some time? That would be a very useful one in Oakey's ever expanding list of spells.
Still lying with his back on the ground holding the the pod to his chest, Oakey spoke up Professor? Oakey turned his attention to Bentley who had observed their battle with the Snargaluff. I don't mean to be a bother but do we have any bandages nearby? Oakey's right arm was bloody and cut up from his elbow to the palm of his hand. I don't think I need to see the Healer. It doesn't hurt to much. Oakey grinned I might need a good tailor too pointing out that his school shirt's right sleeve was slightly stained with his blood and torn up pretty badly.

Introductions all around. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sierra just wanted to get on with this, so they could finish the task then hopefully be dismissed. Sierra turned back to the plant and grew wide-eyed as she took in the sight of its swaying vines. Merlin... In true Gryffindor style, the Barnhill girl reached out to grab one of them, but Sierra wasn't so quick to act. She wanted to assess things first and see if she could beat the plant at its own game.
Finally, a group of vines were pinned down, and on the work 'knot!', Sierra dashed forward and grabbed a hold of the vines. She acted as quickly as she could and formed what she hoped was a nice knot. Then she helped hold down the vines. "Alright, push your hand in," she said to the Ravenclaw. "This thing may not stay knotted up for long."

Was he allowed to make a classmate a lucky charm? Oakey considered it, he might have lost his right arm if Kurumi wasn't there.
Panting, Kurumi waited until her breathing had eased and she wasn't so short of breath before speaking. "Sure, it's a sort of advanced conjuration spell we learned in Transfiguration last term. We can go to the practice room sometime and try it out," she nodded. Transfiguration was one of her favorite subjects and one that she excelled in more than others. Charms was not bad, but there was just something about Transfiguration that resonated with her more. Maybe because of what she was. Her wand seemed to be best suited for Transfiguration as well.
Dusting herself off now, Kurumi looked at Oakey. "Here, let me," she said as she took his right arm in her own, swooping her wand over the area. "Inurio Bani," she said, conjuring some bandages from her wand and adjusting them properly around the area. "You should probably apply some pressure to that with your other hand and raise it a bit," she instructed. "Here, I can hold the pod for you."

"Ahh thank you dear," she said smiling, accepting the beautiful Snargaluff pod. Amazing things they were... simply amazing.
Seren pursed her lips. Little students were rather keen to hand around with the Snargaluffs.. this was a good thing yes? "Of course you may... though it's best not to interfere unless someone asks you to. After all, you've had your moment in the spot light." Best to let the others have their chance.
Seren continued to watch as the students successfully -- though with some difficulty, extracted the pods. "Great work everyone, keep calm and focused!" After all they weren't going to die or anything. Not today at least.
OOC: At this stage I WILL be closing the thread Saturday morning my time/ Friday night GMT. Good luck!

"Yeah, we'll both wait here for you while you give the pod to the professor. and then we can walk back up to the castle together." Lily waited next to Taylor, while subconsciously she kept feeling her scrape on her cheek to make sure that it had stopped bleeding.

The older Gert however didn't see the first two vines come undone until it was too late and one was already wrapping around to hold onto Kacie. And just like clockwork, the younger Gryffindor froze in fear looking quite pale in response. Gideon sighed trying to think how to rectify things while handling his own problems. "Kacie....its alright...it'll be alright," he replied trying to assure the clearly frightened girl as he tied off a few more vines and moved towards the ones that had gotten free.
He was almost there when a hufflepuff jumped in getting in the way. Gideon knew her, had dealt with her actions before. "Nae....back away," he instructed Alyssa, both of them not needed to let Kacie free. Besides this was a group project to learn about themselves and others and she wasn't in their group...had already proven herself. "Yer only gonna make things more complicated and we dinna ask for help." The 5th year grabbing for the vine that hadn't gone after Kacie like its twin and was currently going after the hufflepuff. "See...yer even distracted," he added, managing halfway decently on his own.
Alyssa was surprised by the Gryffindor's comments, but backed away as requested. If they didn't want her help, then it was fine with her. They said they could handle it and she would leave them alone. Hurt by his rebuff, she decided that she'd just leave the greenhouse. It seemed that everyone had managed to find partners and didn't need any assistance. So she picked up her bag and left the greenhouse.

Lily walked up to Professor Bentley after Angelina handed over the pod. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor. I hope you have a great rest of the day." Lily grinned widely. Yes, she was scraped up, mainly from the last task and yes, she was dirty but she had learned that she could be a leader too, so she was happy. Turning and walking back to her friends. "Let's head up to the castle. I need a shower and I need to take care of these scrapes." Lily said grinning from ear to ear.

Gideon might have paid a bit more attention to the Hufflepuff girl and her reaction to his stern words but he was a little preoccupied. What with working with a snargaluff and a petrified sister close to freaking out even more. One thing at a time and family both blood and fellow housemate was more important at the moment. Realizing the only way to get Kacie to move was to physically move her himself, he took a deep breath before rushing towards her and away from the plant bringing her with him.
He had just gotten Kacie free when he felt a tug at his ankle causing him to fall to the ground. Gideon managed to catch himself by his hands on the ground of the greenhouse but the impact caused his wrist to buckle and the Gryffindor to winch.
Okay bad move.
The 5th year twisted around ready to deal with the snargaluff once and for all. Still trying not to use magic, he raised his leg a little and brought it down to the ground banging the vine into the floor in the process. It recoiled thankfully, letting go of him and he scooted backwards as quickly as he could with three limbs working painfree.
"Whew...that was close," he mused looking up at his sister before gradually getting back to his feet. "Kac...ye okay?" Gideon asked concerned, resting a hand lightly on her shoulder.

Silvia took a deep breath and plunged her hand into the plant. She felt around for a pod. The young Ravenclaw didn't want to keep her group waiting; she really didn't know how long they could hold on and didn't want to get hit by those very dangerous looking vines.
In a few moments her fingers brushed against something. "I think I found one," Silvia managed to say as she stretched her fingers out, trying to grasp it. "Almost there...got it!"
She yanked her hand out, the pod between her fingers, and quickly backed up. With her cleaner left hand, she pulled out her wand and pointed it at the snargaluff just in case; not that she really knew any spells that could be used against it. "Okay, you can let go now and get away," she said.
