It was such a nice day outside, the weather was mild, not quite warm but not cold either. Just the way Seren liked it. Unfortunately the lesson wasn’t being held outdoors, no, it was being held in Greenhouse One, where the air was cooler, and the smell of damp soil filled the air.
As you enter the greenhouse the first thing you notice are the stools arranged to the side of the greenhouse by the door, and directly opposite these are stools of a different variety. That’s right, toadstools! While they may look harmless from a distance it’s not wise to get too close to them just yet, after all you wouldn’t want to be sent to the Hospital Wing before the lesson has even started.
Waiting patiently for the students to arrive, Professor Bentley stood by the door to welcome them as they entered; Though she was careful to position herself near the seating area so that she can keep an eye on any mischief making. Standing slightly to the side of the toadstools, was Professor Bentley’s old blackboard, neat and tidy cursive writing slowly appearing on its surface- as if by magic!

He was late he was late he was sooooo late!
After having read the lesson notice on the notice board, Daichi dashed out of the common room and towards the greenhouses. He knew he shouldn't have slept a few hours , he was tired and above all he had a headache again but that didn't stop him from coming to class. Passing the fields, Daichi saw the greenhouses in the distance and saw that students were already filing inside. Oh no. Picking up his pace he reached his destination with alot of gasps for air and his side hurt.
"He..hello, Prof......." He held his hand up as if to say , one second, and inhaled deeply as was bend over slightly , trying to catch his breath. Straightening back up, Daichi's red face from the running looked at the professor and he smiled. "Hello Professor Bentley, i'm not late right?." He asked in a worried voice as he looked around to find an empty seat.

Jez smiled at the teacher as she went in. "Hello, Professor." It didn't look like she was late, because people were still arriving. Jez sat near the blackboard, and took out her books. Right, time for a quick skim over the subject again before the lesson began.

Aurora was scrutinising the toad stools in front of her, trying to identify them, then someone almost ran into the room... Ahhh, it was the crazy little second year. "Daichi? Are you okay?" she asked, trying her hardest not to smile and failing... a little bit.
Ariella skipped happily into the greenhouses, super excited for their first herbology lesson. She was glad to be outside enjoying the fresh air. "Good day, Professor Bentley," she greeted the teacher with a smile.
Erin walked into the Greenhouses and there really were unfamiliar plants. She was advised not to be too easy on them since she was not sure what they could do to her. She stayed away as much as possible.
As she held her head high, there, there was Professor Bentley. Erin hurried toward her wearing her most beautiful smile. "Professor!" she was just so excited to see her and forgot to pay her manners. She then bowed and said, "Good day, Professor."

Thank goodness Faven had been able to join behind a group of students heading out onto the Hogwarts grounds, or she may never had known where the Greenhouse with Herbology class was. With her first step into the Greenhouse Faven was met with a warm heat that seemed to radiate from the many types of plants and the house itself.
Addressing the Professor, "Hello Professor. I am quite excited for your class. My name is Faven Dragomir and I'm a first year," she said politely. Not a suck-up, but not disrespectful...right?????
She looked around in amazement of all the different plants, some of which she had already seen within the Hufflepuff Common room. With two classes already with mean and impatient teachers, Faven hoped this Professor was kinder. Faven stopped gawking at the amazingly vegetation all around her just in time to see that many other students where already taking a seat. Slightly embarassed, Faven hurried to the opposite side of the classroom, and saw what looked like mushrooms. Yet, in a school of magic, Faven doubted they were mearly harmless mushrooms and strolled back over to where the rest of the students were sitting, faking nonchalence to hide her utter embarassment. She took a seat near the front, was there a reason why students weren't sitting there?

Daichi sat down next to Aurora and eyed the toadstools for a second before turning his attention back to her. "Of course i want Slytherin out of the negatives, it's my house too right?" he chuckled softly. Not to mention that he HATED loosing. He rubbed his forehead as his headache started again but he ignored it. "But honestly , i think 30 points was too much, 5 would have been reasonable though" Daichi then turned his attention back towards the class and waited until the Professor began the class. He didn't want to loose points for talking to much or something.
How can people lose points for being late? Or not wearing their robes...?, the second year thought while rushing to the greenhouses. Why do they even think they had to buy robes? To put them in a trolley and stare at them? Merlin... Those first years are so lost in the mist!, she thought, trying not to roll her eyes. 'Good day, Professor', Gwendolyn said as she entered the greenhouses. She then scanned the place, looking for a seat as far as possible from dumb people.
Let's see... UGH! This place is full of first years!, she thought, still looking around. YES!, she almost screamed when she spotted Ari. The young Ravenclaw rushed towards her like a tornado, hoping that no one would get there before she did. MY PLACE! My PLACE!, she thought while approaching her bestie rapidly. 'Hi!', the girl said, looking relieved. Not even bothering to ask if she could stay there, she took a seat and smirked. Of course Ariadne wouldn't mind me sitting here. After all, she would hate it if she had to stay with someone annoying...

Isobel liked Herbology. Well...she thought she did. She had met the Professor at the end of last year, and she thought she was friendly. At that lesson though, she just wanted Hufflepuff to get some points. Hence why she was there. And because she needed to take it so she could learn and not fail her OWLs. "Hello Professor," she said cheerfully. "How was your summer?"
Ronnie checked the clock before she walked into the greenhouse. SHE HAD MADE IT ON TIME!! She did her own celebration and smiled and walked in. Now school was starting to get into the swing of things Ronnie was started to feel a little better. She still didn't want it to be true, she couldn't live with out her dad, but the pain was starting to get easier with every day.
She was ready for class to begin. She liked Herbology, she wasn't very good at it, but she at least liked it!
Everett was running slightly late, but he really was hoping he'd make it on time. Slytherin didn't need more points taken. He might have to stop playing his guitar before classes so he paid more attention to the time. Reaching the greenhouse, he was relieved to see he was there just on time. The curly-haired teen grinned at the professor. "Hey professor," He said, before thinking it might be a good idea for him to introduce himself, "I'm Everett Sutherland, fifth year Slytherin."
Everett strolled over to where the other students were, seating himself down in the first empty seat he saw.
HOLY CHIMAERA! She's so late! So, so, LATE! Aiden is panting heavily at the greenhouse door since she had been sprinting from the common room. As she looks up into the greenhouse, she sees the typical cheerful looking Professor Bentley standing next to...toadstools? Looks like it.
"Nice to see you again, professor," she says smiling lightly. Then, she sees Everett who's probably just arrived too. "Oh! Hi there, Everett! Good to see you."
After getting a bit lost in all those Greenhouses, Kynthia arrived in Greenhouse 1 and entered the class. She was really excited. Herbology was one of the lessons she was looking forward to from the day she found out the classes she was supposed to take as a first year. Her mother had a huge garden back home and she used to help her with it all the time.
"Good morning Proffesor!" She said as she passed her Herbology teacher. Glancing at the blackboard she mentally noted to herself to write the Proffessor's name down. She was so forgetful. Oh this is going to be more interesting than I thought! She had just sat down on a stool, getting some parchment and her quill out when she noticed them. Are those toadstools? I wonder what we'll be learning about them today...
Rose walked confidently into the greenhouse. Having two lessons behind her already she was starting to feel a little bit better. She looked around and took in all of the different kinds of plants. She noticed the professor. "Good Morning Professor"she said. Rose found a seat and waited for the lesson to begin.

Checking her pendant watch again she figured she should get the class started. After closing the door to the greenhouse she walked to the front of the.... well in front of the area where the students were crowded on their stools.
"Good morning everyone! Welcome to the first Herbology lesson of the term," she started, smiling at all the fresh faces. She pulled her robes a little tighter around her. Unlike the other greenhouses this one was enchanted to stay at a crisp cool temperature, perfect for toadstools. "As you have all gathered, today we are looking at toadstools, now before we start looking at the ones behind me..." she indicated to the patches of toadstools behind her, "... who can tell me what a toadstool is?"
"Hands up please... and if I don't already know you're name just introduce yourself first please." They would know if she knew them or not... right?
With a swift swish of her wand the Blackboard rubbed out the previous message, and a new one appeared on its surface.

"As you have all gathered, today we are looking at toadstools, now before we start looking at the ones behind me..." she indicated to the patches of toadstools behind her, "... who can tell me what a toadstool is?"
"Hands up please... and if I don't already know you're name just introduce yourself first please." They would know if she knew them or not... right?
With a swift swish of her wand the Blackboard rubbed out the previous message, and a new one appeared on its surface.
Daichi listened as the Professor started the class. He was glad that she was atleast smiling to them, something he couldn't see Professor Glass do. Trying to take a glimps where she had pointed to behind herself, Daichi re-seated in his chair again when they were asked what a toadstool was.
Raising his hand slowly in the air. "Toadstools are...mushrooms right?" He eyed the red and white toadstool as he lowered his hand back down.

Carter had a big head. Sitting behind him was NOT a good idea. Destiny had to keep shifting in her seat just to get a good look at the Professor. Luckily, though, there was no one sitting next to her, so she finally had the brilliant idea of scooting her chair over some. That way, she was still sitting behind Carter and Caroline, but she was sitting right in the middle. A perfect view.
Toadstools.
Well.. she didn't want to give away the most obvious answer and point to the ones that were all around the Greenhouse. So, she raised her hand high. "Professor! Toadstool is the name of a Princess!" Yup, Bentley just had to ask all the muggleborns in the class. Destiny was sure they would know.

Olivia raised her hand, slightly more confidently than she had in her other classes. "I'm Olivia Evans, Professor." She introduced herself. "Toadstools are poisonous fungi that look similar to mushrooms." She hoped she'd got it right, that's what they were in the Muggle world anyway.
