As you enter the Hogwarts library, what appears to be a cozy nook in one corner of the main area appears most appealing to the Hogwarts student interested in his or her reading. Upon further inspection, you see that this comfy area is larger than it had seemed on first sight. Spread throughout the room are clusters of armchairs, surrounding magical reading lamps giving off different levels of light, all of which are appropriate for reading. These clusters are perfect for study groups or group projects.
Here and there are a few lone armchairs for the student who enjoys quiet solitary reading, and a number of sofas for any that would rather stretch out and put their feet up. Be sure not to muddy them up though!
A soft glow of light is present throughout the room, with more magical lamps in each possible reading space. Be sure not to make much noise and respect some students' wishes to read in quiet.
One last note, no food or drink in the reading lounge.
Cody let go of Jade. "I'm pretty well", he answered Jade smiling. "What about you?", he asked. He needed to say something back. "I came looking for you", he said quietly so no one else could hear.
Jade smiled back. "Well I was a little bit bored and I decided to come to the library, you know read a book," she said showing the book to Cody. Jade still didn't like Hufflepuff that much even though she was in fifth year. Jade blushed she hadn't seen Cody for quite a long time now. "And why that? You need to tell me something?" she asked him.

Cody nodded while Jade was speaking to him. "What book is it?", he asked just trying to get a bit of a conversation. Cody raised his shoulders. "I just missed you over the break, that's all. Owl post is good but face to face is the best", he told Jade.

Did he have to view it in the technical way? Prefects' Compartment was the Head Girl's supposed residence in the Hogwarts Express as far as he knew. She was headed to there then gave out a completely different reason when he had asked about it. Did not she consider a lie? What was a lie in her dictionary then? Josh was curious know. Or not since it was apparently something worse if that was not considered a lie in that dictionary.
''But you fooled me anyway. And i take it as a lie.'' He was going to say and explain more about what he considered a lie yet her next words made him stop and think over them instead.
Well...yes. It was a well-known fact that he did favour no prefect or any other representative of authority in Hogwarts mainly because he thought the people of authority in Hogwarts did not know what was fair and what was unfair. Justice was never present within their deeds or decisions. There were many other minor reasons as well. So, being the person closest to him in Hogwarts, Evelyn wanted to hide that she was the head of those students who represented that corrupted authority because she knew he thought that way?
He did not if that idea was what she had in mind nevertheless it helped him to calm down.
First he put the unicorn book on a nearby shelf, then he walked to her and took her hand looking into her eyes. ''Rose. Regarless of what i think, i am aware of the importance of this and i might be able to understand what responsibilities it brings to you. So, i do appreciate it and want to congratulate you. I always knew you had what it takes to be a great leader.''
He leaned in, placed the badge back into her palm and closed it covering her hand with his both hands. ''But i am not happy that you felt the need to hide and lie in the process. Technically or not. I am sure you did not feel happy doing it either and it, to be honest, did hurt me more than finding this out. Do you know what it is like to find out that the most important person in your life has been hiding things from you? I am not angry that you are the Head Girl. You can even be the headmistress or something. I love you for who you are and will never stop doing so because of some little changes in our lives. I am just...''
He had to look away at this part because well...he felt awkwardly...shy.
''...afraid that it would ruin us.''
Staying silent, she couldn't help but hold her head in shame slightly. SLIGHTLY though since she was still trying to keep up the neutral posture and whatnot, even if she felt and looked rather defeated. She didn't like lying to him. It was hard to do, and it hurt.
She was a bit surprised when he walked away. He was walking away. That...he...
Taking a deep breath, her heart pounded both from thinking he was walking away from her and him taking her hand, making her realize that he really wasn't walking away. Staring back into his eyes as he spoke, she made sure she heard every word. Looking down to her hand as she felt the badge placed in it, only a split moment passed before her gaze was back staring into his eyes. Dark brown eyes.
Merlin, she felt AWFUL. She really did. To the point where she...she might have actually felt a little teary eyed. It was even worse when she couldn't help the little chuckle escaping her when he said that he was afraid this would ruin them. "Ruin us?" she asked, her voice a tad shaky. Looking down to his hands covering hers, she placed her free hand over his and turned her gaze back up to his face. "How..."

Goodness.
"How would this ruin us?"
He knew he was going to be supposed to answer that question.
How would it ruin them?
Well...the main reason and aource of the fear was the most obvious one for him which was that he considered prefects as enforcers of school rules and since it was a fact that, intentionally or unintentionally, he was not a great follower of the school rules so she might start to think he was much of an headache than anything resulting in the thought that he would not fit her as a boyfriend or even as just a friend, anymore.
Losing her, for whatever the reason was, was the only think he could think of that could frighten him. So, yes he had that fear.
And for some reason he could not talk about it. No words came to his mouth. He had other answers and reason whys for the question but he did not know if he could describe those properly either...
...therefore the question had dragged him into a deep, odd and maybe even shy silence.
Mybe it was after a moment or so, yet he also realised the change of tone in her voice which...did not sound like...as her usual tone?
''Are you alright?''
Yes. Her well-being was much more important than whatever thought he had.

"I'll try feeling sad, see what that does to my magic." Jez concentrated on the feather above her, thinking of her brothers Keegan and Than, at home, having a great time without her. How Keegan didn't come to tell her goodnight anymore. How Than didn't annoy her with his endless questions. Yes, she missed even that about them. Tears welled up in her eyes as, for the first time since coming to Hogwarts, she felt really homesick.
The feather slowly began to drop altitude. No matter how hard Jez tried to keep it up, it just kept floating down until it gently landed on the table. Jez stopped trying the charm, and wiped her eyes with her sleeve, feeling sheepish about crying in public.
Sarah frowned, "You okay?"
Hum. It seemed that sadness decreased magic. Interesting. Well, if anger made it jolt, and sadness made it decline... what about happiness?

Amethyst walked gently and softly to the reading lounge. She hummed softly as she carried her favorite book, Things Unseen. She sat down quiet near the window and began reading.

"Y-yeah," mumbled Jez, furious at herself. "I'm good. Why don't you try the happy one? I've had my fair share!" She smiled at Sarah encouragingly.
Sarah's mouth twitched up into a smile, "Alright."
Happiness... happiness...
Hmm, yeah, sure. She imagined getting her Hogwarts letter. She'd been ecstatic. Her? Plain Sarah Oliver? A witch? She'd been about as happy as an eleven year old girl could get.
"Wingardium Leviosa." she said calmly, still thinking about the letter.
The feather floated in loop-de-loops and spirals, steadily climbing up, but certainly not as fast as the anger had made it do. Sarah grinned, even though she wasn't really paying attention, the feather hadn't dropped. happiness and magic apparently mixed really well.

Amethyst looked up from her book as she watched Sarah softly. She whimpered softly hoping Sarah didn't hear her. Jealousy was it? No one knew. She hadn't talked to her friend for ages. She looked down softly and continued reading her book.

Cael entered the lounge, quickly scuttling over to one of the chairs that wasn't being occupied while protecting the thick, heavy tome in his arms. It had taken him ages to find it hidden among the shelves. Setting it down on the arm of the chair he lightly traced his fingers over the worn, leather cover of Beast and Man: Notable Interactions Across the Ages by Augustus Vortooli.
Flipping to the index he quickly ran his finger down the list until he reached 'Magical Creatures of the Light Persuasion'. Flipping open to page 852, he scanned the chapter until he located the entry regarding unicorns. This was going to take a while...
"Lord, I finally caved in," Stephen whispered to himself as he entered the library and gathered all the books he needed to pass with NEWTs with exceeds expectation this year. Or at least the important ones he needed to get E's in. Which were Potions, Transfiguration, Charms, Herbology, and Defense Against the dark Arts. Carrying a load of books, he quickly made his way to the lounge section and took an empty seat. Setting the books down on a desk and turning on the lamp, Stephen took a book about Herbology and began reading it through. This was going to take him years to pass.
"I sure hope Aimee doesn't find me here," he murmured, knowing she'd be completely surprised to find him here. As would anyone else.

Pass my NEWTs. Pass my NEWTs. Pass my NEWTs. That was all that was running through poor little Kitty's mind. Since she was graduating Hogwarts soon that meant that she would have to go back to living with her father and his wife instead of living with her grandparents. Unless of course she passed all her NEWTs. Sadly she was Katlyn Way and Katlyn Way could never pass most of her exams. So what better way to break that habit but to study?
Walking into the lounge she took a seat nearby until she spotted Stephen. Grinning she walked over to him and sat down. "Haiiiiiiiii Stephy" she hushed whispered.

Stephen was actually into the book his was reading, that he didn't notice someone behind him. But when they spoke to him, he jumped a bit. Putting his head up, he noticed Kat, grinning at him. "Hey Kat. Come to cram up some knowledge so we won't have miserable lives after Hogwarts with me?" he asked, with a laugh. If he didn't pass these NEWTs with exceeds expectation, he'd probably end up working in an ice cream shop or something. Not that t was bad or anything, it's just not what he wanted.
"So if you don't pass these, what's going to happen to you?" he asked, turning the page in his book.

"Of course I have! You want to help me study because I don't know if you know this but... I'm not the brightest witch around" She whispered the last part so no one else in the lounge could hear her. Opening her book to the first page she stared at it like if it was in a different language. "Hey are you sure they taught us this?"
Who invented these exams!? And why are they so difficult! Gosh at least make it easy for the students since it is their last year here. Looking up at Stephen she said " Oh you know... Just going to be shipped back to good 'ol dad's house..." She forced a grin on her face. Hopefully he wouldn't notice that it was forced. "Psh why do I even need to pass these? I'm going to be a rockstar!"
"So what's going to happen to you?"

"Really? I could've sworn you were one," Stephen answered sarcastically. Kat was just lazy most of the time so she never studied or might not even have picked up a book. But hopefully that would change since these so called exams were so difficult, people were losing sleep already. And it was only October. Taking a look at the book she had, Stephen just looked back at her. "They thought us that in our fifth year. Don't you remember anything?" Well, he was one to talk since he couldn't even remember what he ate for breakfast this morning, or if he even ate.
"Wow, punishment is that bad? Thought they would've shipped you to your grandma's house for that. You know, continue the modeling and rockstar streak," he said, turning another page in his book and taking down notes. Hi poor left hand is going to be so sore after all this is finally done. Maybe Stephen should learn how to become ambidextrous so his left hand won't suffer as much as is it now.
"Might be sent to my grandmother's for an entire summer. Love her, but I can't be around that woman all the time saying when I'm going to get married to Lexi already. She's a raging lunatic," he said, looking up at Kat from behind his books and back down to the black printed words that were making his eyes hurt already. Putting on his glasses, which he had been neglecting for some time now, the small letter became bigger and hopefully reading would be easier.

Jez just wanted some thinking time, away from everyone else, so she headed to the library. There was nothing like a good book to calm the nerves and lull one into a innocent false sense of security.
Only today, it wasn't working like it should have. Jez couldn't concentrate on the words, much less what they meant. All she could think about was her friends, her currently screwed life, and what Scott had said in the Ravenclaw common room ...
Sometimes, she regretted the painful fact that her only real friends were books.

After things had finally settled down back home, Matt knew that he had had a lot of work to do from classes which only meant one thing.. he had to hide out in the library for awhile; not that that was something he minded to begin with however this time was not going to be as entertaining as it usually was. He took a seat at an empty desk and turned the lamp on before carefully setting down a large, teetering pile of books filled with loose pieces of parchment; this seemed like one of those old muggle games when if you moved a block the wrong way it would topple to the ground and he really hoped that hadn't happened. That would have been quite the spectacle too, maybe you should stop being distracted and start on the school work. Slowly grabbing one of the books from the pile, he opened it and started reading; this was definitely going to be a long day.

Between studying for the exams at the end of term, and the homework that was understandably starting to pile up as classes got underway, Stella was finding she didn't have much time to herself. Not to mention she hadn't really spoken to Matt after he'd gotten back, even though she'd said she would. Maybe it was the fact that most of the mysteries she'd spoken with him about earlier in term had been supplanted by actual classwork, even though there were still others that hadn't gotten answered. Either way, she hadn't really thought much about not having seen him yet. Keeping Ravenclaw in the lead was too distracting, and there was always the egg for Charms and all the other assignments.
Walking into the library with a few books and her school bag, as the common room had been just a bit too loud to concentrate in with what she was trying to work on right now, she headed straight for the reading area. At least that should be quiet, as it was part of the library. Libraries were always supposed to be quiet, as far as she knew. It seemed she was going to be able to accomplish two things at once, though, as she saw who was already in there. "You mean I'm not the only one buried in studying?," she asked quietly as she settled into a chair near Matt and his tower of books and took out her Charms notes. Maybe starting with that would be good, since it was one of her better subjects.

Jez looked out between her fingers and saw another first-year in a similar position to herself at this point. "You okay?" she said sympathetically.
Rubiey felt... alone. That was the only way she could describe it. She had known a lot of things would change leaving for a whole year, but she hadn't realised just how much. All of her friends had evaporated into thin air, and she was back at Hogwarts - the place that she was meant to feel safest at - and yet all she could think about was leaving again. She had no-one here. And that thought pierced through her more than anything.
The fourth year had grabbed a book of the shelf and flicked it open to any old page, hoping that she'd find something to grab her interest and remove all thought of loneliness before she went round the twist.
Jez looked out between her fingers and saw another first-year in a similar position to herself at this point. "You okay?" she said sympathetically.
Willow looked up from her hands and saw another first-year girl looking at her. She was wearing Ravenclaw robes and looking at her sympathetically. "Yeah, I'm ok." she gave the girl a small smile. She didn't really want to tell this girl her problems, but was to polite to tell her otherwise. "How about yourself? I'm Willow by the way!" she said, holding out her hand.
