Hecate was smiling while setting up the class... it was eerie. It wasn't a smirk... it was a real smile. She had an empty cauldron in the front of the class. And on the tables, there were little home made petit fours, made by the potions mistress that said "Eat Me."
Maybe it was a little Wonderland reminiscent, but it there didn't make you grow or shrink. She opened the door and waited for her students.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

After picking those snake fangs out, she had to crush them into powder before adding in. She used a pestle to crush them into powder, almost as fine as sand. Then she added four measures of the fangs in the cauldron.
That was kind of disgusting. Now it was the heating part. Alright just boil for a few minutes then.

Stella had taken to literally singing random songs in her head while she brewed, simply as a distraction from worrying over the idea of sprouting boils. Oddly, it helped her focus on brewing as well, simply because it kept her from thinking about the possibility she wouldn't be able to manage this potion since it hadn't specifically been demonstrated to herself. A similar potion had been taught at Beauxbatons a year or so ago, and she hadn't exactly managed it then. Of course, they hadn't had the possibility of actually needing to use their potions as a reason to succeed, either. So she was still hoping her newfound competency in the subject would continue.
Glancing at her notes as the crushed fang mixture heated, she noticed that the next step involved a spell and her spirits raised. She could do spells. Practice was a good idea, though, so she interrupted her silent singing in order to repeat the charm a few times in her head as she visualized the wand movement. Complex, but no more difficult than the movements they'd practiced in Charms class. So after a few seconds, she returned her attention to her cauldron and replicated the backwards X motion she'd visualized as she spoke. "Percurus." She wasn't going to think about the itching, and how it had gotten stronger. Even though it appeared now she had eighty minutes to just sit and not think about the concept of boils starting to appear. Hopefully she still had time.

And now it was time to take the cauldron off the fire. Still wearing her gloves from earlier, Sky grabbed hold of the handles on the side of her cauldron and lifted it off the flames. She set the cauldron on the table, far enough away so that the heat from the flames wouldn't affect it too much. She grabbed the two porcupine quills and added them, then started stirring clockwise. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. There! Now for the next step…

She knew that they were going to have boils soon. But she did not expect it to be so itchy in the process. Her skin becomes more itchy as minutes pass by. It was not good because she could not come into concentration.. Not to mention the awkwardness inside the dungeon as her classmates are afraid to talk to one another, or even to face each other in the possibility of seeing one already with boils. How she wished they were just playing with plants right now. Planting or even pruning would be more exciting than waiting for the boils to come out.
With a sigh, she looked at the crushed snake fangs in her mortar. Looks finely crushed to me, she said in her mind. Setting the pestle down beside the mortar, Beezus referred to her parchment for the next step she would undertake.
And the next step would be to add four measures of the snake fang into the cauldron. Beatrice took her gloves from her bag, scourgified it and quickly placed it on. Then she scooped four measures of it and poured it one by one into the cauldron.
Scoop. Scratch face with back of hand. Scoop. Scratch. Scoop. Scoop.
HURRY UP! Hurry up already! A voice kept yelling inside her mind. She knew that she ought to do that now but just imagine, she was pacing through that potion making that she was not even acquainted to and she needed to do it quickly. If she won't be careful enough, just what would the result be? She might not even get rid of that boils that's soon to come out, she might make them grow in number instead. And the mere thought of that happening wasn't any at all relaxing. That was why she needed to take extra precaution especially now that panic is running all over her veins.
After adding four measure of crushed snake fangs into her cauldron, Beezus peeked at her parchment to see what the next step would be. AND it was to.. "Heatthemixture." She muttered as she took out her wand from its holster. Then she pointed it to the burner. "Incendio!" A light emerged from it and hit the burner which immediately was filled with flames.
"G'awww.." Beezus mumbled, scratching her nape. Are the boils out already?
O___________O
She felt her whole nape and rounded her neck to check if there were already those pesky little things that are expected to come out. But there ain't any yet.
With a sigh of relief she carried her cauldron on top of the burner, adjusted the amount of flames so as not o destroy the mixture and turned back her attention into her notes. She found out that the next step consisted of a spell. A spell that she did not know. And of course, if you don't know a spell, better practice it first before conjuring it. With that, she grabbed her wand once again and started practicing the incantation with its proper wand movement.

Which...begged the question in her mind as to just how orange was orange? Pink and orange could be confused at times, especially salmon color. Was that more of a pink or was it an orange? Sure, the name of the color was salmon pink, but Kurumi had always thought that the color was more orange than pink.
Kurumi peered into her cauldron and her eyes widened. OH NO! It was the dreaded salmon pink color! Was that enough? Did that mean that she could move on to the next step or did she need to wait for it to turn a more obvious orange color? Holding her breath, Kurumi decided to wait a few more moments to see if the color changed to a deeper orange. About the time her head was becoming fuzzy due to a lack of oxygen, she saw that the contents of her cauldron was no longer salmon pink but a lovely shade of pumpkin orange. Okay...NOW she felt it was safe to add the next ingredient.
Kurumi picked up the dried needles with her gloved hands and dropped them into the cauldron one at a time, making sure that the mixture didn't turn green prematurely. After the eighth needle was in, the potion turned a vibrant green color and Kurumi smiled. Phew, so far so good...but now her cheek was REALLY starting to throb.
Seeing that she only had to wait now, Kurumi removed her gloves and scooted a bit back from her cauldron where she hesitantly touched her cheek and felt...something that she really didn't want to feel.
She felt sick again and began to sway in place.
Kurumi caught herself on the table before she could potentially fall on the floor. How many more steps did she have left? Hopefully not that many now that her skin was tightening in areas all over her body. The worst had to be her cheek, which was feeling a bit tender now and...sort of squishy. Bad idea...really bad idea...
One hand covering her mouth, she peeked into her cauldron and saw that it had finally turned red. Good, that meant she was done, right? One hand still covering her mouth, Kurumi picked up her wand to summon two vials to her work station. "Scourgify," she slightly gagged, waving her wand over her ladle to make sure that it was nice and clean before dipping it into her cauldron. Hopfeully this stuff was going to taste better than it smelled. After filling up both vials, Kurumi set them aside and then gathered up her things, placing her parchment in her bag last.

Her bag now hanging over her shoulder, Kurumi made her way towards Professor Lafay and offered her the vial, her name written on a piece of parchment attached to it. "Here you are, professor," she said without too much of a hint of fear in her voice. "Thank you for another year." Could she...do and take the rest of her potion now? The tightness and throbbing was starting to make her dizzy.
Having handed in her vial, Kurumi turned around and made her way out of the classroom before she saw her breakfast again.

The idea of putting porcupine quills isn't really assuring. As Janice put the two porcupine quills inside the cauldron, she thought of the poor porcupines and the pain it had suffered because of the pullings and such. She then stirred the solution 5 times clockwise, like what the instructions had said.

"Per.." Take a breath. "Percur..Percurus." Beezus muttered as she practiced the proper wand movement for that certain incantation which was to form a seemingly backward x. Starting from top-right to bottom-left to bottom-right to top-left. That movement was an itty bitty difficult for her because it was supposed to be forming a backward x. And her wrist in accordance to her getting slightly panicky isn't at all following what her brain is instructing it to do.
After a little while though, she managed to do the spell with the correct pronunciation of the incantation together with its proper wand movement.
Then she waved her wand over her cauldron of the boiling mixture, saying the spell at the same time doing the backward x wand motion. Hmmmm.. now she gets to wonder. What exactly was that spell for? There wasn't any description given to them as to what that spell does. Maybe it makes brewing faster? Or makes the potion more effective in curing boils rather? Whatever the effects of it are, she made it a mental note to personally ask Lafay about that.
Pulling her thoughts back into the current task at hand, she referred to her notebook. Next to do was wait to let it brew and wait for 80 minutes..
O_______O WHUUUUT? Wait for 80 minutes? No? Seriously? 80? As in EIGHTY?!
"Oh, Merlin." She said as she nonchalantly let her head fall. 80 minutes was such a long time and by the time its finished brewing then...then...then maybe she'd be having the boils already!
Steps 1. Add 6 Snake Fangs to the mortar. 2. Crush into a fine powder using the pestle. 3. Add 4 measures of the crushed fangs to your cauldron. 4. Heat the mixture. 5. Wave your wand in a backwards "x" over the cauldron, starting top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right to top-left, casting "Percurus"

So, boil cure potion? Like a potion that cured boils?
And this directly meant he was going to have boils EVERYWHERE very soon. Then if he ever was to fail brewing this properly maybe he was going to be forced to live with the boils for the rest of his life and that meant...no fishes. No fish would have a second look at him if he had boils everywhere.
Of course, whining about such stuff was not really like him but this was his last ever potion class and if he happened to be left with his boils, he was not going to be able to get them cured because the nurse was Merlin-knew-where and he was directly going to a muggle living place with no wizards around once the school ended.
*sigh*
''Professor...when we complete the potion, are we to drink it to cure the boils or apply it on the skin? I mean...if we are supposed to apply it on the skin?''
That information was important. It was going to be very hard to use it on skin, if he had boils at where it was very hard to apply it on skin anyway...like his back. Whatever...turning back to his cauldron, Josh unholstered hiz hazel wood wand and pointed it at the inside of the cauldron ''Scourgify'' then outside of it ''Scourgify'' then to the mortar and pestle ''Scourgify'' and once he was done with scourgifying everything he saw on the brewing station, the Gryffindor boy looked up to have a look around...

So, how much mucus we must need until it became pink? And why must PINK??

One drop.. Two drops.. Three drops.. four drops...
VOILA
Her potion changed the color became pink after she add 5 drops of mucus. Hot PINK actually.

Aurora watched the fire, waiting until the mixture inside her cauldron was heated. Then she took her wand and drew the X - right, down to the left, right, up to the left. "Percurus."
Well... that was done now. Best to leave it to brew. Aurora cast a final cleaning spell on her mortar and pestle and work area then, after glancing to see that the potion was alright, left it to brew, making a note of the time so that she could be back in less than eighty minutes to prepare to add her slugs.

Harvey looked at the board and started what he was supposed to be brewing. He took out his wand and pointed it at his cauldron "Scourgify!" and then his mortar "Scourgify!" he said as he cleaned both his insruments.
He looked at his parchment which had the instructions on it and started. He put on his gloves just in case these fangs were dangerous or sharp or something. He then got his 6 Snake Fangs and added them to the mortar and crossed this off his list.

Placing her ingredients in order that she'd be using them, Evelyn quickly wrote down the steps in her notebook, making sure that it was at least still easy to read. There was no way she was going to be straining her eyes trying to see the instructions on the board every other minute when she could have them right here on hand.
About to lift up her cauldron and place it on the burner, she paused halfway there and looked to her side. Hmmm?
Blink.
Staring at Josh, the Slytherin girl raised a brow and shrugged her shoulders. "I suppose so." she muttered, placing her cauldron on the burner before filling it with water with a simple 'Aguamenti' spell. There was no reason they couldn't work together. It was just a potion they were creating. Then again, he was the one that had to drink his. Evelyn just had to turn hers in; if Lafay didn't force her to eat another petit four that is.

Seventy six minutes later Aurora went back to her potion, horned slugs in hand. She placed them in a clean dish on her work surface and sat down, eyes alternating from the clock to her cauldron. The seconds passed slowly until the eighty minutes was up and Aurora could add the horned slugs.

"4, 3, 2, 1..Done!" Beezus exclaimed as she stood up from the stool she was seating on and approached her cauldron once more. She had just finished the 6th step in making that Boil Cure Potion which was to wait for 80 minutes in order to let the mixture inside it brew. With lifeless glances at her watch and irritable countdown, she managed to make it through the 89 minute span without any boils yet on her body.
But in that long span of 80 minutes which in fact was over an hour and a half, she felt that her skin had started to tighten. As if it was preparing for the outburst that may later take place on her unpin-pointed body parts. That was why, she badly wanted to finish the Potion now. Quickly, she looked at the parchment for the next step.
And eww..horned slugs. Beezus wasn't the type of person who was exaggerated and too sensitive when it comes to disgusting and eccentric things. But just seeing the slugs makes her imagine what she would look like after the boils would come out. It would be a terrifying sight to behold for sure. Grrrr..shake that things off your head now, a voice inside her head asserted. And it was right, she better get a move on and have a positive outlook on their Potions Finals if she wanted to finish that task swiftly and successfully.
So, with her gloved hands, she picked up the horned slugs one by one and added it to the cauldron. She also adjusted the flames a little so as to accommodate the arrival of the horned slugs into the mixture. It created a low popping noise as she placed the horned slugs inside the cauldron, she didn't know if it was supposed to happen but it was happening already so Beezus assumed that it was part of it.

Harvey then looked at his parchment it said that they had to crush the fangs into a fine powder. Haha that was the best part crushing stuff, but the worst part was getting the potion wrong and having it tipped over your head. He thought to himself as he remembered the last lesson. Anyways back to the lesson I had better concentrate or risk getting this potion tipped over my head he thought to himself. He had already cleaned his mortar so he added the fangs and started to crush them. He was enjoying this crushing.

That meant yes, right?
Staring at her after that answer, he felt like going back to his station and mind his own business himself there...for a moment yet when was the last time the Slytherin girl had even given an enthusiastic yes anyway? The answer was very Evelyn and he knew she could easily turn him away without hesitating if it was a 'no' in her book anyway.
''Thank you.'' so he replied and walked back to the other station to carry his cauldron and brewing stuff to the one next to hers. Once he placed the cauldron safely on the burner and the rest of the brewing tools on the station, the lion boy stopped for a moment to look at her her again. She seemed...busy. Okay...it was his time to go and collect the ingredients anyway.
Making about three tours around the station and the shelves, Josh finally came back to the station having completed collecting all the necessary ingredients. Now all he had to do was to follow the Slytherin's steps so taking his wand again, he directed it at the cauldron. ''Aguamenti''
It was impossible not to frown at the thin line of water he could create. ''Why do you think i cannot cast this...right?''

After adding the horned slugs into her cauldron, Beatrice moved it away from the fire as it was said in the directions. Of course, she had her gloves on and surprisingly it protected her hand from any hotness that the cauldron produced because she didn't feel any sting on her hands as she transferred the cauldron into another area while she put out the fire on the burner.
Referring to her parchment again, the next step to add 2 porcupine quills into the cauldron.
Beezus took off her gloves for a moment, scourgified it just to make sure it was clean before she used it for the other ingredients, placed it back on and carefully took two Porcupine Quills from the pile of her needed ingredients into the cauldron. As she did this, there was a sizzling sound inside the cauldron and as she took a small peek above it, she witnessed how the Porcupine Quills were burned into combination with the mixture. Next was to stir the mixture.
Getting a ladle, and scourgifying it too, Beezus stirred the mixture five times.

Louisa admired how professional professor Lafay could be while explaining to a bunch of teenagers that they're going to be covered in boils within minutes. She lived to tell the tales and that only told how pathetic her classmates were, no personal offense to anyone though.
Swallowing, she grabbed her quill and wrote down the ingredients and instructions, trying SO hard to be as nonchalantly professional as Lafay.

The Ravenclaw went over to the counter where all the ingredients laid, put on her gloves just because she didn't like any of the ingredients... and she didn't trust the professor anymore, one of them could take a chuck of her skin and the Lafay lady might go like "Riiight, pay attention." HMPH. She packed all the stuff in a pile in her arms and quickly dodged her way through students back to her place.
Laying down the precise measurements of ingredients on the table, the girl took her wand out, scourgified the cauldron and the mortar with the pestle and then returned it to the bag. Hmm. Now first step was due, she looked down at her parchment for reference.

She heat the potion until it became red. While she waited, she cleaned her workspace.
"Scourgify." She put the mortar, pestle, the ingredients etc to the right place. Raven took two vials from her bag.
She looked at her cauldron. The potion was red enough. Then she put the potion into the vials. One vial will be collected to Professor Lafay. She named the vial and put it to Professor Lafay's desk.

Ira referred to her notes for furthur instructions:
Quote:
9 - Add 2 Porcupine Quills to your cauldron.
10 - Stir 5 times, clockwise.
So Ira took 2 porcupine quills from the rest of the required ingredients and added them to the cauldron. They seemed to sort of immediately dissolve in the mixture.
Now she had to stir the mixture. So Ira took a ladle, cleaned it thoroughly, not wanting anything to go wrong especially this time. "Scourgify" and.. the ladle was sparkling clean. She then stirred the mixture five times as specified. Oh! Was it clockwise or anticlockwise? Oh yeah! Clockwise! So she stirred it..
Stir Once..
Stir Twice..
Stir Thrice..
Stir Fourth time..
Stir Fifth time..
Then again she had to cast the Percurus spell... Before that Ira updated her procedure
