It was a bitter-cold morning. The wind whirled and howled, rustling the leaves on the trees violently. Admittedly it probably wasn't the best day to have a lesson on the Schooner, in fact it would have been more appropriate in the spring time. But... the students would survive.
As you board the main deck of the Schooner you are confronted with an unexpected sight. It had been transformed to look like a makeshift classroom. Small desks and chairs had been arranged in rows across the deck, facing the front where Professor Bentley was standing, writing on the small blackboard there. Surrounding her was a row of ominous looking ...fish tanks? covered with sheets. An eerie bluish-green light emanated out from behind the sheets, casting a strange glow across the first two rows of desks.
Situated slightly off to the side was the largest tank. It was tall and tubular.
Once she had finished writing her message on the blackboard Professor Bentley stood off to the side of the deck waiting to greet the students as they arrived. She was full of energy and excitement, but contained this in order not to scare the students away.

If that wasn't enough incentive to attend the lesson, she didn't know what was. Actually she could think of a few other things that would get her to a lesson. Heh. The Huffie prefect boarded the ship, letting her eyes roam about before picking one by the freaky looking fish tanks. Couldn't be worse than anything in the creature lessons, right? She didn't think so.
"Good morning, Professor." She tugged at her beanie as she dropped her belongings beside her seat, pulling out some parchment and quill once she was settled.

Professor Bentley certainly seemed to be a giant ball of sunshine herself - which was very refreshing after the frightening adventures being thrust upon them by Professor Vindictus. Smiling back at the woman, Kurumi's eyes flicked back to the tanks. A lesson on water plants perhaps.

Oh? This was an interesting choice. Josh sitting in the front row of desks. Kurumi wouldn't help but notice that the usual and almost obnoxious confidence exuding from the older lion was seriously lacking. He could use a cookie...or several dozen.
Seeing that he had taken a seat not too far away from herself, Kurumi smiled and waved in his direction. He DID say that she made him happy, right?

Doodling? Her friend was doodling?
Gah, that was such a good idea. "Hey." she replied back, taking out her notebook, quill, and ink before placing her bag down...on her lap. Were this floor on the ship sanitary? However, the little 'hey' she gave Marie made her realize she forgot to greet the professor. Aw well.
Looking up to the front, her eyes narrowed slightly when she saw Mariaed. Meh.

Ah a card....
Although her expression completely changed when she saw Josh. While things have been a bit...different lately...she was still completely bummed when he sat in the front. The front was...close to Mariaed. More importantly, the front was nowhere near where she was sitting.
Caroline ran down to the ship for the Herbology lesson. This should really count as part of the DADA assignment. She was running late. Why she even bothered to come to class she hated herbology. Nor did she care to be around anyone at this moment. She even skipped breakfast this morning. Why the heck was herbology lessson being held on the ship anyway. What were they going to do turn the ship into a greenhouse?
She wasn't in a good mood, after what happen in the courtyard yesterday with Carter had put her in a terrible mood. She had cried half the night before she finally went to sleep. That was why she was running late. She walked onto ship were the lesson was being held. She didn't even speak to the professor. That was a first. All she wanted to was slide into a seat at the back of the room...... or not. Marie was sitting in the back.
Great. Now where was she going to sit. She didn't even want to sit with her friends. Since her eyes were still puffy from crying, not even the make up could cover the puffyness. She went to the back of the room on the oppsite side that Marie sit on. She plopped into the seat, pulled out the a quill and notebook and wrote:

Well, here she was--back on the ship and this time for a class, not an exploration. Sierra sat in her desk and worked on completing her name card. She always sort of hated name cards. They seemed silly, and she always had to fight the urge to give a fake name just to give a new professor a hard time. She never did, of course, though.

She slid her name card...or attendance card...or whatever it was called to the front of her desk and then took the remaining few minutes before class to look around the ship. Tanks--hmm, plants, no doubt. This was Herbology after all, and at least they were likely learning something this time. Not like last year, when all they did was clean out the greenhouses. Hmm--Vindictus.

Sweet Merlin!
Destiny had been looking forward to the Herbology lesson on the ship for DAYS. It was just too bad they weren't asked to dress up, that would have made her trip to the ship that much more enjoyable. It probably would have made the trip longer, though. It was hard to walk with a peg leg on.
She knew.
Skipping her way on board, she spotted the Professor and gave the woman an enthusiastic salute. "Hello, Professor!" she greeted before glancing around for a seat. Meh. She saw Marie in the back, but she wasn't about to go and sit next to her. Not with Evelyn so close.
Shrugging to herself, she walked down a random row of desks and threw herself in the first empty seat she found. Oh, hello Prefect Raccoon Girl. Destiny bet she ate a good breakfast.. out of the trash.
Nessie got really excited for her Herbology lesson, as it was going to be on the ship. So it was probably going to be interesting. She walked in surprised to see how the ship had been transformed into a class. "Morning Proffessor!" she said smiling then started walking over to a seat near the middle. She sat down then noticed the tanks, which seemed to be covered with sheets. She also saw a blueish greenish glow coming from the tanks. Ness wondered what it could be. She took her form and wrote her details.

Nessie took out the rest of her stuff then waited for the lesson to begin.
What in Merlin's soggy socks could they be doing on the creepy boat for Herbology?!
Riley had woken up and headed all the way down to the Herbology greenhouses, ready for his first class of that subject, and was disappointed to see where it was going to be held. He trudged along the Grounds and boarded the ship, angrier than usual. He had met Professor Bently at the beginning of term and had thought she would have done better. She was back to neutral with him. Hopefully she had something to make up for the cold.
More peppermint tea would be nice!
He sat at a desk in the center of the 'room' where the rocking was less and quilled in his information on the attendace sheet and waited for the lesson to begin.

He boarded the sihp, glancing at the tanks. Hmm. Weird. "Hello Professor..." Finlay nodded, as he glanced to the back of the class, staring longingly at Jimmy for a few seconds. He really did miss him so much. Marie was there too, but he deicded to ignore her. He sat down on his own, on the third row back, and filled the little card out.
And so the headboy decided to make an appearence. Oh Seren was pleased. "Morning Master Carmichael", she greeted nodding in his direction.

He didn't have a lot to say about Herbology but that would probably change, with the new professor and all. Dun, dun, dunnn.
"Good day professor..." he took a sneak peek at the board where her name was written "Bentley." he finished with a sheepish grin before he plopped down and took a seat. Oh a card, pretty! With his pen he started filling it out, trying not to doodle on it too much.
Hhhmm were the students really that cold? Seren cocked her head to the sky, she supposed it was a bit ... fresh. "Morning", she greeted. Hopefully once the lesson started and tey got onto the activity they'd warm up a bit.

Sneaking up behind James he grabbed his best friend and laughed, "Hey bud!" He turned to Sal and gave him a slap on the back. "Hey!" He sat down behind his best friend only so he could throw stuff at him, and looked down at the card on the desk.
As soon as he finished that he looked at Lexi and frowned, "You look how I feel today? Are you okay?" Yeah he thought he was going to lose his breakfast earlier but hadn't and ended up eating more.
Well that was rude... not greeting her or acknowledging her presence. "Good morning", she said to the student nonetheless.

There was Marie sitting on her own. And then there was Finn sitting on his own. Um...who should she sit with?
Sweet Merlin!
Her friends certainly made it hard for her when they weren't talking to each other. Mia decided to just sit on her own. She took out a quill and wrote on the place card.
"Morning dear", greeted Seren as a particularly bright and bubbly Hufflepuff came onboard. She seemed delightful. Enthusiasm... brilliant!

She didn't like her either.
Ignoring the eerie blueish-green glowing tank things since she really didn't want to know right now, Evelyn glanced around to the seats available. Hmm, Stalker-Dude? No. Lexi? No. Finn? Probably not. Salander? Too close to Stalker-Dude. Ohhh but there was Mia and Marie who...were not sitting anywhere near eachother, darnit. But, Marie was sitting at the back and really, that was the best place to sit if you didn't like a professor. Walking to the back, she gave Mia a smile and slid into the seat next to Marie. Hmmm, name tags.
Another reason she didn't like the professor already.
Oohhh frosty reception from the Slytherin. Seren couldn't help but feel shunned.... "Good morning", she said cheerfully regardless of the students manners.

She tried to poke her face out of her scarf. It was really too big and long for her even, but it kept her warm; still, there was a possibility she could suffocate with it. She strode on board and saw Professor Bentley, busy about, but greeting the students who had come to class. As a polite gesture, like in all classes, she went to greet the professor, also to let them know of her presence.
"G-good day..Pro-" she pulled down her scarf so that her mouth wouldn't be covered; it was getting in the way of her speech anyways. "Good d-day professor Bentley..." she said, giving a smile, her cheeks a little pink realizing she still stuttered. She bowed her head and went to look for a seat.
When she did, she noticed the blackboard-and the tanks. Tanks? Did she even notice those when she got on the ship? She might have missed that, but they were clearly visible. Oh well, she read the message on the board and took her attendance card, obediently following the instructions.
after filling in the needed details, she sat still and quiet, anticipating the start of a seemingly interesting lesson.
"And a good morning to you", replied Seren smiling as the girl adjusted her scarf to speak.

Yet remembering the new professor at the feast Josh had decided to participate anyway for she had seemed to be a nice lady. And that was why now the boy had another single white flower in his hand while walking to the class territory on the ship.
The flower was oddly reminding him his...kinda broken heart so he paid extra attention to look away from it. And when he could see the professor, Josh stopped and greeted her with a kind of little forced smile. ''Good morning, professor.'' Of course the lack of warmth on the smile had nothing to do with the professor, it was only a reflection of the broken heart he tried to keep inside. Anyhow...after making sure that he managed that smile, the Gryffindor backed and placed the flower on the blackboard before looking around to choose where to sit.
No...there was no need to choose. He didn't want anyone to ask about the lack of his usual cheerful self anyway so taking a few steps forward the lion boy decided to occupy one of the desks at the the front row.
Ah a card....
"Morning Master Carter", replied Seren as she watched the boy enter their makeshift classroom. He looked a bit blue... such a shame, he seemed to be such a nice boy at the feast. Oh what was that? Another flower? That was trully lovely. "Thank you for the flower Carter, it's lovely."

Ahhh... Riley?... no greeting? Seren was a little disheartened, the boy had seemed so pleasant that day they had met in her office. She shrugged it off, thinking it may have been something out of her control... perhaps he got up on the wrong side of bed.
And with that Seren took another look down at her pendant watch... seemed as though it was time to get the lesson started. Some students were getting a bit restless by the looks of it. Striding briskly to the centre of the front of the deck, Seren took a stand in front of one of the tanks, the light glowing around her. "Good morning everybody, welcome to the first Herbology lesson of the term, I am so glad you could all make it."She gazed out at the sea of faces before her. Students... they were the future and here she was facilitating their learning. It was such a privelegde. "First of all I should formally introduce myself, my name is Professor Seren Bentley and I will be your Herbology teacher for the term. I have a wealth of experience in the area of Herbology, having spent a great deal of my professional life out in the wilderness studying a variety of magical and mundane plants. I have to goals for this term... the first is to provide you all with exciting and interrsting learning experiences and secondly to inspire you and help you to reach for your goals." Whatever they may be.
"Before we get started I must stress one key rule to you all...." Seren paused, taking the time to make eye contact with a number of students. "Safety... is first and foremost the most important thing you need to remember in this class. I trust you all brang your dragon hide gloves?... if not I have a few spares up the front."
And now on with the second most important part... the lesson.
Seren gestured around her at the ship they were on. "Now you're probably wondering why I've decided to hold the fist Herbology lesson on this ship.... and the reason for that is, its not every day we have this opportunity, and secondly it ties in quite neatly with out topic today."Gesturing at the sheet covered fish tanks behind her Seren moved onto the next feature of the lesson. The contents... "Now what do you think we might be looking at today?" she asked. Though really it was pretty obvious.
OOC: The lesson has now started, please to not post arriving to class from this point onwards- just pretend as though you were here all along. Any late comers will lose house points. Also chatting will not be tollerated during the lesson- please treat your Professor with respect.

Riley shivered again and crossed his arms infront of his chest. The Gryffindor was glad he had worn a sweater under his robes that morning and was equally glad that he had tucked his Gryffindor scarf in a pocket of his robes sometime before that.
Well duh, he was wondering why they were ont he bloody boat. He was pretty sure she had to confirm that though...there were some Puffs on the seventh year presumed. Now what could they study in the water for Herbology?
"Ummm Professor Bently, is it possible we are studying Gillyweed?" it was a good guess seeing that they were on water. At least Riley thought it was a good guess.
Luna walked in a bit late she was never late before she felt a bit embarresed ''Morning proffeser'' said Luna smiling and then puting the attendence card on the desk

Jim listened to the professor, frowning slightly. See why didn't she say something about her expertise when he'd gone to see her? And why wasnt' she giving more detail now? Still he paid attention and when she spoke he eyed the tanks and raised his hand.
"Maybe Blue Lace, professor?"
Keep it away from HIM please.

Chloe was thinking that gillyweed must be right. It was the only plant she knew to be magical that grew in the deep water. But wasn't it only produced in the Maditeranean? Can we really find it here? COOL. Chloe raised her hand and responed, "I think the gillyweed idea is right cause I don't know of ther magical plants grow in deep water.
And so the headboy decided to make an appearence. Oh Seren was pleased. "Morning Master Carmichael", she greeted nodding in his direction.
Hhhmm were the students really that cold? Seren cocked her head to the sky, she supposed it was a bit ... fresh. "Morning", she greeted. Hopefully once the lesson started and tey got onto the activity they'd warm up a bit.
Well that was rude... not greeting her or acknowledging her presence. "Good morning", she said to the student nonetheless.
"Morning dear", greeted Seren as a particularly bright and bubbly Hufflepuff came onboard. She seemed delightful. Enthusiasm... brilliant!
And the students just kept coming. Seren was thrilled! "Morning", she greeted the young man.
Oohhh frosty reception from the Slytherin. Seren couldn't help but feel shunned.... "Good morning", she said cheerfully regardless of the students manners.
"And a good morning to you", replied Seren smiling as the girl adjusted her scarf to speak.
Seren nodded polietly and offered the Slytherin girl a smile. "Morning"
MMmm it was good to see the students curiously starring at the tanks. Hopefully they would find its contents as exciting as she did. "Good morning dear".
Ahh another enthusiastic student. This was lovely. "And a good morning to you too", she replied with a controled level of enthusiasm.
Oh how disappointing, no greeting?... manners seemed to be a weak point for some students. "Morning", greeted Seren in hopes of modelling appropriate behaviour. The girl did have a lovely flower in her hair.
Nodding as she greeted the students onto the main deck Seren smiled politely, "Good morning."
"Morning, welcome aboard" said Seren as she watched the student find a seat and fill out her card.
And this girl seemed to be a little out of breath... something about an alarm clock? Well yes that would help. "Morning, glad you could make it."
"Good morning dear", replied Seren as she observed the student take a seat... she didn't look too good. Sea-sickness perhaps?
"And a good morning to you", replied Seren brightly. It was nice to see fresh curious eyes bright with excitement.
Hhhmm Seren observed as a girl hurried onto the ship- clearly not in a good mood, and clearly forgetting her manners. "Morning", she said... a little bored of greeting students that didn't greet her back.
And another rude student... Slytherin... hhmm this was a trend by the looks of it. Perhaps she should have a word with Lafay...
Seren didn't even bother trying this time.
Ahh this was more like it, an enthusiastic Slytherin, clearly enjoying being out of doors. "Morning dear", chimmed Seren grinning at the girl and her salute.
"Good morning", replied Seren, pleased with how this girl ahd manners and greeted her... unlike some others..
Ahhh... Riley?... no greeting? Seren was a little disheartened, the boy had seemed so pleasant that day they had met in her office. She shrugged it off, thinking it may have been something out of her control... perhaps he got up on the wrong side of bed.
And with that Seren took another look down at her pendant watch... seemed as though it was time to get the lesson started. Some students were getting a bit restless by the looks of it. LLucy looked around the students who were there. Hmm, Herbology first class. This had to be real interesting. She took a quick look at the ship wondering what they would study here, as the professor called out the first question in the class. As it was the herbology class it was obvious that they would definitely be studying about the greeny things in around the ship.
She rose her hand to answer and said "Professor, are we going to study about the plants here." she felt it was more of a question then the answer and gave a silly smile, and looked down at her books. She couldn't think of anything else other then plants and trees in the herbology class, so that was very sure that; this class would be more related to nature.

Heaving a sigh once the lesson started, Evelyn tore her gaze away from the back of Josh's head and stared at the Professor instead. Professor...Bentley. Goodness, she couldn't even think of a nickname right now for the woman. Ugh, that was not cool.
Shifting her gaze over to the glowing tanks, the Slytherin girl sighed quietly once again before raising her hand. "Some type of mushroom?" she asked. Some of them glowed...ish.
Hmmm, mushrooms. Actually, that sounded good right now. Food sounded good.
Simon looked at the Professor and then smiled. "Are we going to learn something to do with Herbology." Simon thought that if they wasn't then he was in the wrong lesson but he couldn't understand the question the Professor gave so he just said the first thing that came into his head.
No...there was no need to choose. He didn't want anyone to ask about the lack of his usual cheerful self anyway so taking a few steps forward the lion boy decided to occupy one of the desks at the the front row.
Ah a card....
"Hey Josh," Tayla greeted the boy she had a big crush on. Tayla was surprised that Josh had taken a seat in the front row. There was something odd about him today, though. Wondering what it was, she gave him a smile.

Tayla looked away from Josh and turned to Professor Bentley. She took out her dragon hide gloves and put them on the table.
Tayla squinted at the tanks and really didn't know what it was. But she figured a good guess would do. "Professor..I guess it may be a kind of underwater weed."

Yup, she brought her dargon hide gloves alright. Janet wouldn't dare to go to herbology without it. "But wait, did the professor just said brang ?", she thought. "Oh, never mind that".
Looking at the tank, Janet thought that it obviously is a water plant. Whoa, it could be anything. Aqua chomp, brain coral, Gillyweed. So, Janet went with the most obvious thing that she could think of. She raised her hand and said, "Professor, I think it's gillyweed inside that tank".

Turning her attention back to the lesson she raised her hand. 'um.. I'm guessing an underwater plant?' She smiled. Thea had been looking forward to this lesson and the only underwater plant she knew about was gilly weed...

Zara's attention was caught as Professor Bentley officially began the class. Dragon hide gloves? What was that? She was about to raise her hand up to ask for the spare, but decided that she'd do that later on. And ooh a question.
Her hand shot up and she answered, "Plants under water?" She answered, unsure of it though. Well, it was Herbology, right? Though they were in a ship, Zara was sure that this class was Herbology class. And they had fish tanks. And they were in a ship. All connected to water. So, plants under water. Maybe.

Cassie tried to ignore all the awkwardness abound on board the ship and focus on what the professor was teaching today. She figured things would be a lot more simple if she just kept to herself today, especially after all the trouble she was already in. Thanks a lot Jaylon Summers.
She looked at James as he spoke up and tried her best to not have her gaze linger on him, instead she fixed them on the ugly dragon hide gloves they had to wear.

"Yes I did get everything I needed thank you" She smiled up to Professor Bentley before she had started the class. When Proffessor Bentley moved to look at her pendent she caught on class would be starting soon.

When Professor Bentley said she wanted to inspire the students she couldn't help but feel a little bit of happiness growing inside of her as well as a slight hunger. After class she was going to eat everything in the enitre school...she was just still that hungry. Yes indeed this was going to be an experience, she agreed as Professor Bentley said it wasn't everyday that a ship was used for Herbology and really she'd never seen that before in her life really...she'd never really been to Herbology the term prior...what with the fear of that man eating plant and everything. She blinked when she said it tied in with the lesson plan - how did a ship and plants tie together? She thought confused for a moment there. Her head was swimming with ideas - or it might have just been swimming.
"We could be looking at mold and mildews that grow on boats" Kyle offered her tone soft, sweet, and a little bit more fiery than normal.

What might they be looking at? Helena raised her hand. "Maybe some aquatic plants?" She suggested, even though it sounded pretty stupid. But it made sense, at least. Well... there were fish tanks, or whatever those could be.
So... yes. Something aquatic. Besides, they were on a ship.
