| | | The Old Ship The ancient schooner stands tall in the dark water, although there is a definite list to the mast and sails that belie its age. After all these years hidden in or around the lake, the ship is in remarkably good condition, although the lower decks drip with water and something rather green and slimy. If not for the age and apparent solitude of the ship, it would appear the crew had just departed, even going so far to leave the gangplank lowered to provide access to the main deck.
The main deck is cluttered in a way no captain would approve. Bits of knotted rope, lank strands of the shredded sail, and abandoned cannon balls that seem to have taken root to the deck would have tripped up a sailor in bygone days. They are the only artifacts left of those hearty men now. A rope ladder twists uselessly in the rigging - wonder if the crow's nest can still be reached?
Just a few steps above the main deck, the steering wheel is knotted into place with a moldy length of rope. It's impossible to know where these sailors were headed, but they've been sailing in one direction for a very long time indeed. Propped against the railing behind the wheel is a marlinespike, a nasty pointed thing that was someone's weapon or tool... or both.
Beneath the quarterdeck, a gaping doorway leads to the captain's quarters. Decrepit maps, a rusted quadrant, and a compass sit on the captain's desk, but the most interesting artifact is probably the old tricorne hat propped against the chair. Wherever the man went, his head is bare. The bed and wardrobe in the corner could give you more clues about the man who lived here, but the best clue is the log book folded closed on the chair - Captain's Log for the Dead Wizard's Trove.
Below the main deck, you will find the hold and sailor's quarters. Kegs of powder are scattered with a few ancient gold coins, Galleons by the look of them, but there is no further indication as to what the ship once carried. Was the ship a merchant ship? Privateers? Or pirates? |

Seriously, Destiny KNEW they hated her.
Shrugging her shoulders, because she could care less about those elves, she tip-toed her way closer to the steps and shined her light down them. Hmm.. "I don't know, Mia. If you fell down theses steps, you'd probably break all ten arms. Imagine the PAIN." Destiny shuddered just thinking about it. "And just because you have ten hands won't mean you would have ten lights, too." Just sayin'.
Mia received a LOOK. A LOOK that clearly, CLEARLY said, 'If you even think about locking me in a cell, I will drop a cannonball on your toe.' But there would be no need for that, thank Merlin. "Well, you know." she drawled, "It wouldn't be the first time someone thought that." Locking her in a cell that is. She would just stay away from the them..just in case. "It's not exciting because we are just standing here."
Grabbing her friend's hand, Destiny started moving slowly down the steps. "Think there are rats down here?" Marcus could use a girlfriend.
Destiny was being a wet blanket. Did she realise that? Maybe Mia should tell her. "Okay what is the likliehood that I would break ALL ten hands? Besides she might fall down the stairs on her bum and having ten hands would become redundant. She rolled her eyes at her friend's next comment. "I wasn't speaking literally, D. Geez." Merlin! She wanted those ten hands now so that she could hang the Slytherin off the side of the boat.
Mia totally IGNORED the look she was getting. Destiny did not scare her one little bit. Okay maybe just a little bit. Only because the girl was slightly wacky in her opinion. "I can't understand why?" she said with just a twinge of sarcasm in her tone. She wondered how Evelyn and Marie put up with her in the dorms?
Holding onto Destiny's hand somewhat tightly so that she didn't fall down the stairs, Mia laughed softly. "I'm most positive there are rats down here. Perhaps we should have brought the basket with us." She had heard about rats eating people before. "Destiny? she whispered. "Are you scared?" Because Mia was. It was even darker down here then the level they had just left.

It was even darker down here then the level they had just left. So, Mia was right. There was like a one in ten chance that she would break all her hands in the fall. But Destiny was sure that something would break and if it was the Hufflepuff's legs, she would not carry her all the way to the Hospital Wing. She wouldn't even be able to levitate her! How would they be able to see!? "Fine, fine!" She almost stomped her foot out of FRUSTRATION. But the boards were all creaky. "You wouldn't break ALL ten hands and you weren't speaking literally."
Pfft, just another language Destiny did not know. Right up there with muggle.
Destiny IGNORED the fact that Mia was IGNORING her look. She wasn't trying to scare her, after all. It wasn't like she even had the cannonball with her. She probably couldn't even pick one up. And that sarcasm..went right over her. "Well, people say I annoy them.." Did she understand now?
A grin spread across her face as Mia said she was positive about the rats and she quickened her pace down the steps some. Hehe, she was going to get Marcus a girlfriend! And it was too bad they hadn't brought the basket. "No, no. Why would I be scared?" Was Mia scared? "Don't worry! I won't let the rats bite you." Because that's what she was worrying about, right?
Getting bit?

It was only a guess... a very far fetched guess. "What do you think?" So Raven thinking is as much as Nika "I think is about a hundred year older than Hogwarts" Raven say, whooah, analyzing with one look, iether magical or not, if this big vessel having surviving crew is fantastic. The deck on the other hand can handle this many people, maybe the inhabitant lived here has relationship with Hogwarts founder. "wowowwie, thinking this is amazing" Raven add.

She could clearly see the Old Ship, standing a few feet away from her. Well, she'd been there before and didn't find it nearly as exciting as people made it out to be.
Anyway..now, what? What was she to do? Walk back to the castle or explore the ship, even though it was really boring? It was very strange, because Jamie Keaton was an explorer, that he hadn't entered the mysterious old ship yet. Truthfully, ever since the History of Magic lesson about pirates, he assumed that Captain Hook would be in there, lurking about, looking for treasure. From what he recalled, pirates on a pirate ship was a bad thing to come across. Then again, why would Hogwarts put their students in any kind of danger?
Soo...... yea, he was safe. The third year walked closer to the ship, moving from his original halting position, but stopped once again as he got too close. What was he thinking??! He didn't have the guts for this! Eyeing the people around him, assuring himself that no one could see him being a chicken, he noticed someone familiar.
He tip-toed forwards to the girl, and tapped her on the shoulder. " Viola, are you too scared to go in, too?" That would give him a bit of comfort, knowing he wasn't the only one.

Viola decided that she would roam around the ship for a while, before heading back to school. She'd just started to walk when... someone tapped on her shoulder that made her nearly jump out of her skin. Eeeep! She turned around and looked at- "Jamie? Hey." Did he really have to scare her out of her wits? Anyway, she gave him a smile.
Uhh scared? Yeah, right. Anyway, she'd decided to play along. "Yeah. I guess I am." Her eyes darted back to the old ship, wondering why anyone would be scared of the weird old..Oh. OH! It was a really old ship right? "Are there any ghosts on that...thing?" If there were, she wasn't going in. That was final.

Jamie grinned at Viola, glad that she remembered him this time. "Hullooo." He said, elongating the 'O'.
Oh, good. For a moment there, Jamie thought that his comment would backfire and he would have just admitted that he was scared. GHOSTS? Merlin's Socks, he hadn't even thought of that possibility. "YEAH, probably. And I think pirates are on there, too." Why else would the HOM Professor do a lesson about them?
It was a SIGN.

"I think we should go in, though." Maybe they should link arms just in case something did decide to snatch them up upon entrance. The third year stared blankly at Viola, resting the decision on her. He wouldn't mind if she didn't want to, but he only asked because he was obviously looking rather wimpish right now. And we couldn't have THAT, now, could we?

GHOSTS AND PIRATES? Obviously, there had to be pirates. Being a ship and all. But, ghosts? She started to freak out. A little. But, she took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. "Okay, look. I'm really scared of ghosts, alright?" She looked up at the creepy ship. "I'm not sure I want to go in." Unless he dragged her inside or something. Abruptly, she turned towards him and asked curiously, "Why are you scared? You get freaked out about ghosts too?

o_O He had scared her for real now, hadn't he?
"PFFFT, ghosts are easy to deal with. S'not like they can throw a punch at you." Bwahaha, they have no physical quality that should scare a human being. Pirates, however... "Come on, don't be a frady cat." He pulled her arm and dashed towards the old ship. The closer he got, the slower his pace became. But he still kept going. Nothin' was gonna stop him now!
"I'm not scared! I was just... joking?" Jamie said, carrying on walking. He giggled nervously. Viola would not buy that response for a second. She was very much aware of his scardiness.

That's great." The last few days had been horrible for Viola. Except for the fact that.. "Huffies won. Against the Slytherins." Viola grinned. Yep. She was a very proud Huffie. "The quidditich game, I mean." If he still couldn't understand what she was trying to say. Gosh, she couldn't believe that they actually beat the Slytherins. Go Hufflepuff!
She looked at him, clearly exasperated. "The problem is we can't throw a punch at them, either." Ghosts are just way too..WHAT WAS HE DOING? "Jamie. Let go! I'm not going to enter a ship full of ghosts." She struggled to remove her arm from his grasp but turns out..he was stronger than her. Surprise, surprise. Pirates, she could deal with. But ghosts..eek!
She rolled her eyes. "You're a terrible liar. You know that, right?" She looked at the ship that kept getting bigger and bigger. They were really close to the spooky old ship now. "Jamie, this isn't a good idea."

Sweet Merlin!! Was Destiny being thick on purpose or did the girl really not get what Mia was saying. She was pretty sure that she was talking in english. "Well you can be annoying." If the girl wasn't going to get sarcasm perhaps honesty was the best policy.
Eeep!! "Destiny slow down or let go of my hand." She didn't have the luxury of eight extra hands so she needed the two she had. The stairs were slippery and she could see herself falling down them any moment now. "It's not the rats I am worried about."
It was Destiny's annoying behaviour getting them into trouble that had her so worried. Crud.
Mia was good. Usually, if Destiny whined and threw a tantrum, she would get what she wanted. Especially from Evelyn. Although, now that she thought about it, she couldn't even remember what it was that she had wanted in the first place. But she wasn't going to mention that, instead, she gave a simple shrug of her shoulders. As if nothing happened.
She KNEW she could be annoying, and it wasn't really her fault. Yes, Destiny was going to blame it all on Mia. She was the one who gave her those chocolate frogs after all. It didn't even matter that she had some of her own on her. Those, she didn't eat. "Am I annoying YOU?"
Was she? Was she?
The answer was probably yes, considering she was practically dragging her down the creaky steps. Slowing her pace, because she was a little too scared to let go of her friend's hand, Destiny stole a quick glance over her shoulder. Not worried about the rats? "Do you know that, in some places, there are rats as big as GOATS!? Would you be worried about them then?"

Seriously the girl didnt realise that she was being annoying? Mia looked at her friend for a moment trying to see whether she really didn't know that she was being annoying or whether she was just pulling her leg. She shrugged her shoulders. "A little. I have only thought about throwing you off the boat just the once." Of course she didn't mention that she had been thinking about strangling her, hitting her over the head with something and shoving a sock in her mouth. Mia gave her a sweet smile. "I'm getting used to it."
NOT!!!
Oh thank Merlin!! Destiny was slowing down. Mia breathed a small sigh of relief that they were going to live to see another day. But then the Slytherin had to go and tell her THAT!! "What? Of course I would be worried." She started pulling her hand back towards her. "Dude, I am not going any further if there are giant rats down there." Yes she was freaking out.

Of course she didn't mention that she had been thinking about strangling her, hitting her over the head with something and shoving a sock in her mouth.
Only a little?
Perhaps Destiny didn't eat enough chocolate frogs then. Unless, of course, Mia was just lying, but she was a Hufflepuff; they weren't supposed to do that. She could understand the thought of throwing her off the ship, though. Only because she had the same thought. She just wanted to see how big of a splash Mia would make, that was all. Returning the smile, she eyed up her friends pockets. "So..do you have anymore chocolate frogs?"
Although, it would probably just be easier to eat the ones that were in her own pockets.
But she needed to save them for their never ending trek to the lower levels. How many levels were on a ship anyway? They were going to be there all day.
Or not.
Flinching as Mia began to pull her hand away, Destiny let go and stopped in her tracks to fully turn to look at her. Why was she freaking out!? It was making her want to freak out and freaking out on the creaky steps was not good. "How are we supposed to know if there are giant rats down there if we don't go down there!? And if there are, they're probably friendly!"

She was sure the Slytherin had asked her that very same question about half an hour ago. Of course she couldn't remember what she had told her. Truth of the matter was that she did have some chocolate frogs on her. But there was no way that she was giving the girl any. It was just far too dangerous . "I don't want to know if there are giant rats down there." The girl was mental. Wild rats were not friendly. The small ones would gnaw your fingers off. The giant ones would probably eat them whole. No. She was not going to look for rats. "I would rather go swim with the giant squid." Which was saying something because the thought of those tentacles wrapping around her, freaked her out as well. "We're supposed to be looking for pirates and or vikings." Not bloody rats.

Mia was good. Too good. And yes, she had asked that same question not too long ago, but Destiny was more than POSITIVE that she did not answer her that time. She was just trying again, and it seemed she had failed. Fine. She was not going to eat Mia's chocolate frogs, so, pulling out one from her own pocket, she unwrapped it and stuffed it in her mouth.
Her friend received a smug grin. HA! "But what if they are friendly, Mia!?" Why were so many people afraid of the thought of meeting a giant rat? Destiny found them amazingly cool, and she wanted to keep one as a pet. Of course, she had no idea where she would keep it. And she was going to need a whole lot of cheese. Meh. "Really? The giant squid?" First Josh wanting to kiss it, now Mia wanting to swim with it. People were crazy. "What if the pirates and or vikings are down there with the giant rats? We must venture downwards!"

"Jamie, this isn't a good idea." Hah. Yeah, really great. It would be even better if he was being serious and he actually was feeling good. Meh. Jamie suddenly frowned when she mentioned the Quidditch Match. Yes, since his last get together with Viola, the boy had grown in Slytherin pride. Not lots, but it had definitely improved. "Hey, don't rub it in! Doesn't mean that Hufflepuff will win the cup, though." Noooooo, it already had Slytherin's name carved on it, hehe.
Hmm.... Jamie was really starting to go off Hufflepuff. Even though it used to be his faaaavourite house!
"I don't see any problem with that." He shrugged. Both species couldn't throw punches at each other only meant that there were no fights! Everyone could just get along swimmingly. WOOAH, she mad! "Come on, we have just established that ghosts can't hurt us." He continued to pull her towards the ship. Mwahahahahaaa.
He was being accused of lying?! "Dunno what you mean." Jamie Keaton wasn't scared of pirates and ghosts. Jamie wasn't scared of ANYTHING. Finally, they got to the entrance of the ship and the third year jumped on deck. On the daaaaaark deck. Lost in thought for a moment or two, he turned to Viola. "Come on, there's no ghosts in here." It was actually pretty cool. Pfffft. Why was he even scared? He was a man.

Freya thought its a good idea to come out and breath some fresh air but she didn't realize how wrong she was. Its freezing. She wrapped her coat tightly around her. Oh how she hoped that she didn't come out with that stupid idea to go outside maybe now she'd be laying in her warm and cozy bed in the dorm.
She walked and walked until she saw an old ship in front of her. WOW! She knew that the ship already here in Hogwarts since the school started but she didn't has a chance to visit it. Its really big ship. Maybe its used to be a pirate ship. Hmm..

Its really big ship. Maybe its used to be a pirate ship. Hmm.. Lara was bored of staying in the common room, she loves this freezing weather! So she wore her coat and scarf and headed out to the grounds. She noticed that only students were out and they all seemed freezing like herself. But despite the coldness she kept walking until she reached the old ship.
She always loves coming here, it's interesting to come and watch it. It makes her feel excited she hopes that someday she'll find a ghost who's been in the ship for long time and she'll be the first to discover it.
While Lara was standing there staring at the ship, she glimpsed someone familiar. She walked towards this person and yup It was Freya! She recognized her even though Freya was curled in her coat, she quickened her pace she reached her and cheered "Hey! Freya!" she was so glad to find her, she tried to look for her in the common room but she couldn't find her.

Its a marvelous ship and she couldn't take her eyes from it even though its already old. She wondered if they allowed to explored inside the ship because she's pretty curious what's inside the ship. Maybe they're a treasure. Hmmm...Who know, right?
Then she heard someone called her name. She turned around and saw Lara standing next to her. "LARA!" quickly she hugged her friend. "Where have you been?" she asked because she rarely seen the Slytherin around. Its funny that they're in same year and the same house but they rarely saw each others.

The chances of them winning the House cup were not very good at the moment. But, she still had hope. "Anyway, we might win, you know. Even if we don't, I'd rather the Gryffindors win." Or the Ravenclaws. But, definitely NOT the Slytherins. Yep. "Of course, there's a problem. We can't even throw spells at them!" That was the worst part. Viola knew that she was acting stupid. Like, really really stupid. But, when it came to ghosts, she did tend to freak out. A lot. o_O He started to pull her again. Anyway, she was glad that she had her wand. You know. Just in case. If there were any pirates or ghosts haunting the ship.
OH. She nearly screamed when Jamie jumped onto the deck. Ugh. No ghosts? "How can that be? It's so dark." Ghosts always roam around when it's dark, right? Anyway, she jumped onto the deck. Just to show him that she wasn't a coward. Her eyes quickly scanned the deck but she couldn't see anything. No pirate or ghost. Uhh. Did they go for a snack break or something?

Oh!! So the girl had her own supply of chocolate frogs yet she had been eating all of Mia's. That wasn't fair at all. No wonder the girl was a Slytherin. Sneaky little thing that she was.
She poked her tongue out at Destiny's smug face! "Destiny." Mia did her best to keep the exasperation out of her voice. "This ship looks deserted. Not a single soul on board. If there are rats on here." Which she seriously doubted. "How friendly do you think they will be? With no food to be seen anywhere and in walks two rather...er...ripe looking pieces of meat or cheese or whatever their favourite food is."
Ugh...she did not want to go any further. Mia didn't fancy being some beady eyed, furry animal's dinner. "How about you go first and tell me if it's safe." And that is why she wasn't a Gryffindor.

Lara and Freya had had lots of conversation about this ship lately and they were both curious about it " Did anyone know anything about it?" she asked her friend "I really hope we can go inside it!" she beamed " come on let's sit there!" she said pointing to a spot under a tree near the ship.
