The second Herbology lesson of the term was taking place in the relatively warm greenhouses—enchanted to shield the collection of striking plants from the frosty winter conditions. They were going to be working in Greenhouse Three today, and Seren had quite a bit in store for them. Seren stood just inside the entrance to the greenhouse, dressed in robes of teal, she eagerly awaited her students to arrive. Hopefully they would come prepared to get down and dirty.
As you enter Greenhouse Three you find that a long Oak table occupies a length of the central corridor, with stools positioned around the sides. To the immediate left the flower bed is completely empty. At the front of the Greenhouse, is the all too familiar black board and on it, it says....

She was...not late. She was not late? Was she late?
Late or not, the Slytherin still slowly made her way to the greenhouses, trying to rub the sleep from her eyes and keep the cold away from her skin. Unlike the quidditch game, she was rather bundled up at the moment yet she could still feel the chilly weather.
It was annoying.
Yet, she finally arrived. Alive. "Good day, Professor." she muttered, not really giving much a greeting but at least she remembered this time. Not really noticing where she was sitting, Evelyn just...sat...somewhere at the long table. Sat and shivered. It was warm in here, but she still felt the effects of the coldness OUTSIDE. Close the dooooooor!
Dude. The Pensevies aint got nothing on you. Aslan is the God
Amy made her way lazily to the Herbology lesson, shivering most of the way there, bloody cold winters *glare*, she shuddered and pulled her jumper around even closer to her body. She longed for her sweatshirt hoody, to sit in the common room with the fire on full and a blanket wrapped around her legs.
But nooooo. No. Instead it had to be minuts 1 billion. Typical British crappy cold weather.
She pushed the door open with a shaky hand and made her way to a desk, hee-he-hhelloo pr-pr-pr-professor she chattered, smile slightly frozen in her jaw, before she sat down, still wearing her scarf and pulled on her wooly gloves

Stella walked quickly towards the greenhouse hoping she wasn't late, she entered the room and looked around, it seemed to be rather full but the lesson didn't yet. "Morning Professor," she smiling walking towards an empty seat. The Ravenclaw took out of her bag a few parchments, ink and quill and placed them on the desk. She sighed, beginning to twirl her hair around her finger, she waited for the lesson to begin.
Selina swore that she had set that darn alarm clock again! But once again this morning it didn't go off. She was starting to think that the girls in the Common Room were playing a prank on her. 'Course that would make sense because Selina was usually the one who played tricks on everyone. And revenge was an ideal Selina could fully understand. So she was running like a bat out of hell to get to the Greenhouses wrapped up in her puffy jacket that made her look like a marshmallow.
Finally she ran in and announced, "I'M HERE!" Suddenly she was met with silence and awkward stares by the rest of her class. So Selina scratched the back of her head and scoffed a little, "I mean, um... good morning Professor Bentley."

Penny walked into Greenhouse Three... seeing Professor Bentley at the door, greeted her "Good day Professor"...then quickly taking her seat and removing her quill, parchment and ink from her bag...
Victoria saw Stella and walked towards her carrying her heavy bag and said "Hey Stella, can I sit with you?"
As she waited for the lesson to begin someone spoke to her, the voice was rather familiar she raised her head and saw a girl. She knew her from somewhere but she didn't remember from where exactly. The blond moved her bag from the chair, and said to the girl with a sigh, "Have a seat." She flicked her hair over her shoulder and waited silently for the lesson to begin.
She saw that Stella was trying to recognise her "I am Victoria, Rex's sister!" She sat down on the seat and started to get her books, quills and parchment out.
While waiting for the lesson to start, the prefect had taken to doodling on the edges of her journal. It was only when her huffie friend had taken a seat beside her that she realized others had joined the class. "Hey Mia." She returned the girl's smile with a sheepish one of her own. "Sorry. It's been really stuffy in the castle, so I've been spending a lot of time outdoors." And apparently hiding from her friends.... like all of them. Odd.
Mia was in the middle of pulling out some parchment and her quills when she noticed the look on Arya's face and her eyes widened a little. "You don't need to apologise to me Arya. I know you're busy with your Prefect duties and stuff." And it wasn't like Mia was around in the Common Room that much either.

She was actually hoping that they were dealing with a dangerous and DEADLY plant that would be able to swallow her. She wouldn't mention that, though.
Making her way into the greenhouse, her eyes quickly scanned the room. She didn't see anything dangerous or deadly, but that could come later. RIGHT!? Hopefully. "Hello, Professor." she gave the woman a small smile before making her way over to a seat.
Both Mia AND Arya received a wave..right before she connected her head with the table.
Looking away from Arya for a moment, Mia spotted Destiny waving to her and she immediately returned the wave before almost standing up on her chair and giving her friend a concerned look. "Are you alright?'
Nessie walked in excited, their last herbology lesson was really fun and she hoped today would be too. She had all her stuff packed in her bag. "Morning Proffessor!" said Ness gretting her Herbology Professor then, read what was on the board and took a seat at the table hoping her friends would come sit with her soon. In the meantime she started taking out the things she needed.

Penny saw her room-mate enter the greenhouse, she waited until Nessie was within hearing distance before saying, "Hi Nessie, would you care to join me?", shifting her bag and stuff over a bit to make more room..

Oh Merlin... this poor girl was half frozen. "Morning dear", Seren smiled at her sympathetically. "Don't worry, you'll warm us soon enough."After all it was quite warm inside.

Right... that was about it was it? Seren checked her pendant watch once more. Yep, that would have to do. If anyone was late then that would be their own problem. "Right, good morning everyone, so glad you could all make it for our second lesson." She peered down the long table at the smiling... and not so smiling faces. "I trust you all had a good weekend".. statement not a question.
"Now before I get started I just wanted to bring something to your attention. For those of you who were here for our first lesson, and participated in the main activity, there is a little something on the Herbology Notice Board for you. The Stubby Purple Corals we took cuttings from where all sent to Australia to the Satus group-- the organisation responsible for the rehabiliation of some of the worlds most endangered wildlife. Aron Ashburry-Hawthorne, the President of the organisation sent us a certificate of appreciation, so if you have not seen it yet, I suggest you stop by on your way back to the castle to take a look. You should all be extremely proud of your achievements."
It was a remarkable thing that they did. Each of them contributed to the survival and rehabilitation of the Stubby Purple Coral... if only they could do more.
"Now today we will be looking at Magical Plant Care and Maintenence... so now my first question to you, is what do you think this entails?"

Selina slunk into her seat with further embarrassment. She must have been the bright red color of her hair at this point. Next time she would be sure to have a back-up alarm clock if the girls decided that they would turn hers off again. Yes, that would be her plan. As of now though she was red in the face and was sure that the awkward churning in her stomach would take a few minutes to calm down.
At the start of the lesson Selina perked up and listened to Professor Bentley. She drew out her phoenix feather quill and some parchment and prepared to begin. At the first question Selina was... stumped. She was never really one for Magical Plants, that was her mother who loved to garden- hence the extreme garden they had at Whitley Hall. Raising her hand timidly she said, "I guess that means we will be learning how to keep ourselves and the plants safe because we are working with varying levels of dangerous plants that have the ability to be lethal. Maybe we will be also learning how to preserve plants that are growing extinct like the coral we used in the previous lesson?" She was just throwing it out there.

Kurumi giggled and rolled her eyes when Selina made her presence known. The second year seemed to always be sprinting to Herbology classes. Maybe, the she had a fear of plants that Kurumi didn't know about?
Her thoughts turned away from all this when Professor Bentley began class. Hmm, well that certainly was a broad subject, but Kurumi went with the first thing that came to mind. "One of the things I think of, professor," Kurumi began with her hand raised up high in the air. "Is how to protect magical plants from non-magical beings. Or, depending on the plant, the other way around." After all, there were some magical plants that non-magical people should never be around NOT because of what they would do to the plant, but what the plant would do to them.

They got a certificate? Did they all...individually get one?
Probably not. Not that it mattered to her much. Taking out her notebook, she placed it on her lap before glancing back over to the professor. Hearing about what they were doing today and the question, she couldn't help but be reminded of her first years of herbology. Eh. Not the greatest. "Learning how to make sure your plant doesn't die?"
Sure, it came out as a question but...well yea. That's what it meant, right?
Jeanne took out her quill and parchment when the lesson started. She was still sleepy because of the bloody weather. Why can't winter just give it a rest so that spring could come already?
So what is Magical Plant Care and Maintenance? Jeanne looked confused. Is that some kind of department in the ministry? Do they have that now? Nonetheless, she still raised her hand to answer "Is it about taking care of magical plants and making sure they are properly well maintained?" Well she's not sure if that is the correct answer to the Professor's question.
♣ Heejin here | Did somebody say coffee & cakes? | cat lover ♣
Magical Plant Care and Maintenance? Jonathan hasn't hear of that yet. But the answer could be of pure common sense right? "well from the words itself, care and maintenance." he spoke. "is it how to take care of your magical plant and maintaining that it won't die or ................................something like that" he smiled.

Amy put her hand up, it still shook ever so slightly but the professor was right, it was starting to warm up...or maybe she was just becoming delirious with the cold. Very possible. Is it keeping your plant alive and making sure it reaches its full potential? She suggested, taking out her notebook and quil and writing down the date and title, her handwriting ever so slightly shaky from her coldness

Spike tugged at his Ravenclaw scarf as he felt the warmth of the Greenhouse. He pulled off his hat too, though it was anyone's guess how it'd managed to hold onto his curls whilst he'd run and rolled (yes, rolled...James Bond style) and skipped the way down from the Common Room. But there it still was, and he held it in his hands as he walked further in.
"Hi Professor," he greeted happily. Herbology was usually a lesson he could have fun in, mud and dirt and stuffs. He hoped today would be no different. Heading up the table, he stopped close to his favourite Seeker. "Hey Ellie," he greeted. "Mind if I sit?"

"Of course not, Spike." So, by all means, little Claw...sit.
Ellie turned back to the Professor...Heh. BEAM. She didn't have much to say back...she didn't have anything to say back...just...she just BEAMED.
Hopefully, though, she meant high expectations in Quidditch...Ellie wasn't exactly good at Herbology.
Maintenance? "Like...feeding? And...repotting...and trimming and such?" Those types of things.

Thea raised her hand almost straight away. 'Is it about taking care of whatever magical plant you have planted?' Thea paused.. then: 'And also maintaining its' health so it will stay alive!'
Glancing around the greenhouse, she found everyone had basically given the same answer.
Fanning herself with her hand Thea blew up at her fringe. Phew, it was so warm!

Maintenance and care. Easy enough. Mia raised her hand. "I'm guessing that we would be learning on how to prune the plant. What kind of fertilizer it requires. How much water and sunlight it needs. Stuff like that."
That sounded about right to her but sometimes the most obvious answers weren't the right ones.

Care and Maintenence?
Helena should start praying that they were not going to take care of some super dangerous plants, because she didn't have very pleasant memories of her past Herbology lessons, with professor Vindictus. Nooo no no.
Anyway, for the woman's question, Helena was pretty much sure that she was going to say something stupid, but she wanted at least to try. "Professor? I know that muggles use to say that plants need someone to talk to them, is it the same for the magical plants?" Well, that was what she thought important when it came to care.
Simon looked at the Professor and smiled before raising his hands. "I think it means that some people have to look after the plants you know like a gardner that muggles use, though of course they wouldn't have any deadly plants they have to make sure is safe." Simon said before continuing. "It must be a hard job for them to do, maintaining dangerous plants.

Penny was glad class had started... Oh a question she knew the answer to.. her hand shot into the air.. "Professor I think it's about learning to care for the plants such as watering & feeding & fertilizing, and learn about their magical properties, and what they are used for...like in medicines and potions.."
