The second Herbology lesson of the term was taking place in the relatively warm greenhouses—enchanted to shield the collection of striking plants from the frosty winter conditions. They were going to be working in Greenhouse Three today, and Seren had quite a bit in store for them. Seren stood just inside the entrance to the greenhouse, dressed in robes of teal, she eagerly awaited her students to arrive. Hopefully they would come prepared to get down and dirty.
As you enter Greenhouse Three you find that a long Oak table occupies a length of the central corridor, with stools positioned around the sides. To the immediate left the flower bed is completely empty. At the front of the Greenhouse, is the all too familiar black board and on it, it says....

Next, Eino returned to the front of class from where he took a bucket of dragon dung and a water can, and then returned to his spot. After placing the bucket and can beside him he proceeded to take very small amounts of the dung with his left hand, then with his right hand he took even smaller amounts, only using his fingers, and sprinkling the hole with it. He did this several times so ensure that the dung was well spread and equally distributed.
Then he pulled out his wand and filled the can with water. He thought it was be best this way because he still hadn't mastered the charm and was worried too much water would fill the whole and he would either have to begin anew or risk his plant drowning. After the can had sufficient water, he placed his wand away and carefully sprinkled the hole with some water. He slowly and cautiously tipped the water can around the spot rather than just fill the middle with water. He was so worried not to over-water the hole that he was even shaking, plus it didn't help that he was wearing the thick dragon hide gloves. At the same time, he really didn't want to touch poo, especially not wet poo so he wanted to keep the gloves. After that was done, the hole was all dungy and moisten.

Naw. Thea's plant look prrrrreeeetty! Grinning, she reached over her plant for the watering can for the second time. Pushing her bandana further up her head, she began sprinkling a little water over and in her potted plant.
Cocking her head to the side, the little lioness looked at her plant. Maybe theProfessor would let her plant another one to send to her mam? Flo loved flowers and plants.. the garden was like a jungle!
Popping her watering can back, Thea leant over the table to grab a tag.

Simon practiced the spell a few times before listening carefully to Professor Bentley as she moved on from the questions to their actually class assignment. Everything sounded fairly non-dangerous and non-smelly which was a change from previous classes and a plus.
"Flipnsnipwitit," he cast with a swish of his wand, trimming away one of the loose and dead branch on his plant. Satisfied with the action, he moved onto various leaves repeating the spell a few times careful to do so inbetween movements to avoid any mistakes.

"Got the case of the giggles dear?" asked Seren as she approached the Ravenclaw Seeker. She smiled, "I remember I had the same difficulty when I first learned it. Take a deep breath and have another go."
"Flip-n-snip-wit-it."
Well they appeared to have gotten the hang of it- on the most part. "Ok everyone, now today we will be caring for a Flutterby Bush... this will include trimming it, replanting it, feeding it, and watering it." She paused to let this all sink in.
Flicking her wand, the instructions appeared on the board. She flicked her wand once more and a small cart of Flutterby Bushes wheeled itself into the greenhouse stopping in front of the long table at the front.
"Now you need to be careful ... the Flutterby Bush will move around a fair bit, so take care when trimming it." She didn't want them looking ugly after all. "So what your going to do once you have trimmed your Flutterby Bush.. is your going to transplant it into the ground over here," she said gesturing to the empty flowerbed on the left hand side of the greenhouse. "You will need to fertilize the soil as well as the bush, so please follow the instructions carefully. Once you have planted your bush you will need to water it, this is very important and it should always be the first thing you do after planting something."
"Once you are done, take a coloured ribbon and a tag," Seren swished her wand and numerous coloured ribbons and tags appeared on the table, "... write your name and house on it and attatch it to your bush."
"All the materials you need, will be up here at the front of the greenhouse. Don't forget your dragon hide gloves... and are there any questions?"
OOC: To achieve full participation marks for the activity you need to complete the RP in no less than 7 posts (One for each of the instructions). Please LABEL each post with the instruction you are up to, e.g. Post #1
I'm going to allow somewhere between 36-48 hours to complete this activity-- see how we go.
Also please DO NOT double post, triple post, quadruple post... etc. If you do your posts will be merged and you will not recieve full participation marks.
Happy RPing!
Hehehehe.
Ellie couldn't speak, and only nodded at the Professor. Though, she was glad the Professor had also laughed at it.
Gwen checked out the instructions. So I have to sprinkle a little dragon dung around its base. That's not so bad, the girl decided, and did so, as it was indicated. Seems like I'm DONE!, she thought.

With the Flutterby Bush looking well, Simon looked up at the board to check on the next step. Digging, he mused to himself slipping on his dragonhide gloves. He picked up a shovel and proceeded to dig a decent size hole in the bed. The captain gingerly lifting the pot once to check if it was big enough. When it wasn't, he carefully lowered the plant back down before going back to work in his digging eventually satisfied with the hole's size.
With extreme caution, Eino used a single finger to loosen the soil around the edges of the pot. All of the excess soil that fell out he gathered together so his workplace could look a little less messy. After he had made sufficient space around the edges for his fingers to fit, he dug both hands into the pot, trying to go as deep as possible to hold the plant by its roots, and pulled it out of the pot. Once out of the pot, he placed one hand under the plant and the other kept on its side, and shook off the excess soil. The plant seemed to be cooperating because all of the sudden it gave two violent shakes, ridding itself of all the excess soil. With enough space for the roots to breathe, Eino then put the Flutterby Bush in the ground.
When the plant was sitting nicely in the hole, he gathered all of the excess soil and empty the soil that was left in the pot, too. He would need all of this in the end to fill any empty spaces. even though too much soil would suffocate the plant, not enough could possibly lead to dehydration. He had to make sure there was sufficient soil to absorb some water for the plant.
Aurora loosened the soil in her hole and took a small gloved handful of dung, sprinkling a little into the hole. She picked up a watering can and tipped it to let a small patter of water moistening the fertilised soil.
Hello, Daddy! Hello, Mom! I'm your ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Lucas copied down the instructions quickly. It was easier to have them right there rather than having to look up at the board every five seconds.

3. Loosen the soil in the bottom of your hole and a spinkle of dragon dung followed by a light shower of water-- just enough to moisten the soil, it should NOT look like mud.
4. After loosening the soil around the edges of the pot, remove the Flutterby Bush, roots and all and shake off the excess soil from the roots-- this will allow it to breathe.
5. Place the Flutterby Bush into the hole and fill it in with the soil you dug out. Pat it down gently-- not too firm otherwise you may suffocate the roots.

7. Sprinkle a little dragon dung around its base. Tag your plant.
Alright, step one. He pulled on his gloves like a good herbology student and went to get a Flutterby bush from the front of the room. He brought it back to his spot and stared it down for a moment. The staring had seemed to work on the branch, so he figured it would work on the bush, too. It was moving a bit, so he said, "You're going to have to hold a bit more still than that," and gently took hold of it to stop it from moving so much. "Now I'm going to trim back all this dead stuff and... Whatnot." He figured if he told it what he was doing, maybe it would be less stressed and move about less. (Was that even why they did that?) He aimed his wand very carefully toward a dead area. "Flipnsnipwitit," he said, and swished his wand. He had done a pretty precise job. Not perfect, but pretty close to it for it only having been the second time he'd really done the spell well. "That's better, isn't it?" he asked the plant, moving on to another dead area. "Flipnsnipwitit," he said again, swishing his wand and pruning the plant more. He repeated the spell on a few more areas until the plant looked presentable. "You look sorta cute," he commented to it. "I think I'm going to call you George. You seem like a George to me." On to step 2!
1. Start by trimming back the leaves and dead twigs of your Flutterby Bush using the Trimming Charm.
Ariella stared at her Flutterby Bush for a few moments, meditating on the best way to trim back the leaves. She did NOT want to mess up. She took a deep breath and said the charm a few times to herself before trying it out with the wand movement.
"Flipnsnipwitit!" she said firmly, swishing her wand gracefully. The dead twigs disappeared, while the leaves slowly trimmed themselves backwards.
Victoria got her wand out and took a deep breath and then said "flipnsnipwitit" and nothing happened so she tried again, she smiled as she watched the bush started to trim itself.
Aurora gently pulled the Flutterby bush from it's pot and shook the excess soil loose from the roots. The bush shivered and fluttered, almost as if it was shivering.
2. Dig a whole in the flowerbed large enough for the pot to fit into the soil-- and leave a little extra room.
With a shovel in hand, Ariella got to work on step 2. She studied her flowerbed, trying as best as possible to estimate how big the whole needed to be. She dug for a few minutes before picking up her pot to examine it again. A little too small, she thought to herself. She began to dig again before being satisfied. Step 2 complete!

Reaching down into the pot with one gloved hand, Simon gently dug a little at the bottom. Just enough to loosen it up like it said in the directions. With his opposite hand he retrieved a bit of the dragon dung he had picked up earlier and sprinkled it within. He then brushed off both gloved hands and picked up his wand, casting a quick but gentle "Aquamenti," to moisten the soil.
3. Loosen the soil in the bottom of your hole and a spinkle of dragon dung followed by a light shower of water-- just enough to moisten the soil, it should NOT look like mud.
Ariella tilted her head to check the board for step 3. Should be easy enough. She put on her gloves and ran her hands through the soil, loosening it gently. She was careful not to over work it and make it too grainy. She clapped her hands together to shake off any excess soil. Now for the dragon dung. She sprinkled an ample amount into her pot and a little bit of water with an "Aguamenti!" Perfect! The soil soaked it up easily. 3 down, 4 to go.!
Victoria loosened the earth with her fingers and then she put on her gloves so she could put some dragon dung in the bottom, she grabbed her wand and said "Aguamenti" until the bottom of her hole looked ready for the next step.
