| | | Stained Glass Windows Fire and paper do not go well together. The library, therefore, features a reduced number of torches on the walls to minimize any danger to the books. A number of large stained glass windows, placed at regular intervals where the room is part of the outside wall of the castle, ensure that sufficient light gets in. Stretching all the way to the ceiling, these windows depict different famous witches and wizards, momentous historical occasions, and beautifully detailed magical creatures.
Relax on one of the cushioned window seats. Watch the floor and nearby shelves change subtly in color as the sunlight shines through the stained glass panels. Read a book under the calm gaze of Merlin or the fearsome scowl of a Manticore. Sometimes, it is difficult to stay focused here, but there are students who swear that, when sitting at the window of Rowena Ravenclaw, work gets completed faster.
All rules apply here, and although the glass can't be broken by simple spells or physical force, please be careful and respect the artwork on the windows. Remember to keep your voice down so as not to disturb those also visiting the library. |

Snow was frozen drops of water. It was something she missed a lot at the moment, no matter how much she disliked home.
The girl realize she would have to return at some point. The later, the better. Freedom at Hogwarts was better than she could have imagined. Right now she found the library peaceful. Picking up the Herbology book beside her, the brunette softly flipped through the pages until she found an interesting looking picture. That's what she would start reading. Sebastian clutched onto the rough, reddened book in his hand as he walked over to the stained glass windows to take a read. However, he was being quite sneaky, for no one; no one knew that he loved liked to read, well except for Anakin. So he walked over, taking a seat on one of the cushioned-chairs, and opening his book. He began to read, flipping page and page over again as he became more interested into the adventure of the book.
Suddenly, the sun hit his eye, seeming to blind him as the light reflected off of the girl's Herbology book. Seb sighed, putting a hand to block the sunlight from his eyes so he could see. "Oi, you, do you mind positioning your book somehow else? It's blinding my eyesight and I would like to re- I mean continue hating this awful book. Heh..." He retorted, trailing off at the last minute. Whew, hopefully she didn't catch that.

Gwendolyn walked to the nicest part of the library…or at least…which she thought it was. She sat down on one of the cushioned window seats and wanted to start reading. Then, suddenly, she noticed the window of Rowena Ravenclaw. Magnificent, she thought. Moreover, she also started looking at the windows depicting different famous witches and wizards.
Without even noticing, Gwen had not read one page since she arrived…she kept staring at the windows. All right, this is clearly not the best place to study…,she thought.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jeremy Bradford Fifth Year | For Erin <3 "It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."
Alice was so excited to see Lexi that she could hardly control her limbs. It had been so long since she had seen or talked to her favorite Gryffie that it could almost be considered blasphemous...yes, it was definitely blasphemous. Tapping her foot somewhat impatiently, Alice looked up and down the hallway she was in, shooting her gaze every now and then outside the stained glass window in front of her. She was a bit early after all...

Hehe.
Skidding to a stop nearby she beamed at Alice and bounced a little bit as she said, " I'm back!" DUH.
But yeah. She IS back and she felt the need to express that.

But yeah. She IS back and she felt the need to express that. "LEXI!!!!!!!!!!!!" Alice yelled, far too loudly for what was considered appropriate for a library. Without a second thought Alice flung her arms around Lexi's waist, giving her a little squeeze before letting go and taking a step back. "How are you?! I feel like it has been ages since we've talked!! How was your summer? How was the trip out with your parents?"

It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. And yes, Salander and I went. We hitched a ride with Patroclus and his family from the UK to Athens, and then went on their boat from Athens to Thira. The capital of Santorini. It was just amazing. The whole trip," she said with a happy little sigh. " And Salander is doing very well. I will tell him you asked about him."
Reaching across the table she took Alice's hand in hers and gave it a little squeeze. " I am so happy to hear that, Alice. So very happy. Perhaps next summer he will be well enough that you can come visit with me?" she suggested with a big smile.
" I didn't think I wanted to come back. I really didn't. When I got here I was miserable. And then when I left I was even more miserable. I toyed with the idea of not coming back at all. Just leaving for France and staying away from here. But... when I came back in the gates after being gone I felt much differently." Mhm.

Alice responded thoughtfully with a warm smile. It had been ages since she had seen or spoken to Salander, which was almost as blasphemous as how long it had been since she'd talked to Lexi. "I've never met Patroclus, but he seems nice enough from what I've heard," Alice said with a nonchalant wave of the hand.
Alice appreciated the little squeeze that Lexi gave her. She had been such a strong support system for her at Hogwarts last year, and it was something that Alice would never forget. Her smile widened even larger as Lexi suggested the idea of coming to stay with her. "That would be great!!" Alice exclaimed with a little bounce in her chair. "If you don't mind me asking, and forgive me if you've already mentioned at some point, but where do you live?" Alice was honestly drawing a blank and could not remember for the life of her whether Lexi lived in Europe or the states...faulty memory already at such a young age.
Alice's lips and brows furrowed downwards when Lexi said she was thinking about not coming back. "But why wouldn't you come back?" Alice asked, hoping she wasn't prodding too much. "I would miss you too much if you hadn't come back!"

"I would miss you too much if you hadn't come back!" Lexi nodded and put on her whimsical smile as she thought back to those days spent on the beach. Mmm. It had been glorious. " Patroclus is quite lovely. A great friend." She would be sad when he left... very sad indeed.
" I would love that, really. Well as it were, I am in the process of moving to the South of France over Christmas holiday. I was living in London for a while with my older brother, but not anymore. So over the summer that will likely be where I am as well," she said with a smile. The beach. Oh yes, the beach.
Sighing slightly Lexi looked out the stained glass window and chewed her lip. " Sometimes things around here make me so crazy. It gets to be a lot to handle. And as it is... next term will be my last one here," she said with a hint of sadness in her tone.

With my father running the library for the whole town, it doesn't give us much opportunity to travel places together. Either way, whether your in London or France it would be lovely to see you over the holidays."
Alice gave a little nod of understanding, chewing on her own lip for a moment. "I kind of know what you mean...except I feel like it's easier here than it is at home for me. I mean, I will never abandon my dad, but sometimes I feel like he needs to figure things out for himself, you know? Eventually someone has to find their own way." Reaching out her tiny little hand, Alice took Lexi's into her own. "It's sad to think of coming to Hogwarts without you here. You must promise that we'll keep in touch...even after you've graduated?"

I can look out for you and show you some of France and all that," she said with a smile.
" I never really have felt that I fit in here. It's silly I know. Where else would I fit in if not a school of magic? It's really silly of me actually. I think it's just house prejudice more than anything and letting the things that people say and do to me get to me the way they have in the past." She gave a little shrug and let Alice take her hand.
SMiling softly she nodded her head reassuringly. " Of course we will. I wouldn't dream of not keeping in touch, Alice. I will be so lost without this place when I leave it I will want every detail of what is going on. And don't be sad. You are getting older... it's time for you lot to get ready to be role models and support systems within the school and most importantly in Gryffindor. I know you will do just fine without me. You are much stronger than you give yourself credit for, kiddo."

" Yes, please do inform him before I show up at your doorstep to whisk you away to France for a while," she said with a chuckle. She would hate to see the look on his face if she showed up in all her... Lexiness without his prior knowledge.
Shrugging a little bit she pushed her fringe out of her face and sighed. " Well I am not really sure how *I* became a mentor either. Sometimes it really baffles me, to be honest." Truth. " As long as you can freely share your experiences with someone else and give them hope that everything will be alright... I think that is all that matters, really." Oh the moments of clarity were making her all... poetic and whatnot. Hehe.
Turning her nose up a little as Alice mentioned that boat she leaned in a little closer. " I think it's a death trap. Have you been on it? It's disgusting. Totally disgusting. Someone is going to catch their death down there," she said in a scandalized tone. Seriously. Scurvy was a real thing...

Turning her nose up a little as Alice mentioned that boat she leaned in a little closer. "I think it's a death trap. Have you been on it? It's disgusting. Totally disgusting. Someone is going to catch their death down there," she said in a scandalized tone. Seriously. Scurvy was a real thing... Alice couldn't help but let out a little chuckle at Lexi's gesture, implying that a fair warning was needed before meeting her. "I am sure my father will love you! In fact, I think he'd be quite excited about meeting my friends from Hogwarts."
Alice was never really one to jump at the opportunity to be a leader, but when desperate times called for desperate measures she was usually willing to step up to the plate. "I suppose just letting someone know your there usually goes a long way. After all it's awfully frightening to try and face the world alone...especially the magical one."
Alice shot another look out the window, this time wondering if you could see the boat from here. Her head was instantly turned back when Lexi asked if she had been aboard it yet. "Wait...people are allowed to go on it?" Alice asked, utterly perplexed. "Well I think I'll pass on that adventure," she said with a look of digust. Scurvy was one thing, but who knows where that thing came from or who was on it before them. For all they knew it could be cursed or something. "I just have a horrible feeling that something bad is going to come from it. I know they cleared it and said that it was alright, but still...it's just so..." Alice said, pausing in thought for a moment before concluding with, "strange."

" If you think so, I will be sure to bring Salander along as well. Perhaps he would like to meet him as well? Two of age wizards is better than one, yes?" she said with a little smirk. Really she wasn't so sure about that, but you know, it stood to logic, maybe.
Nodding her head and her finger at the same time she smiled. " That's all it takes, indeed. I mean... I had a hard time readjusting when I came back after my second year, but there were older kids that let me know I was not alone and that was all it took. Those few people helped me piece myself back together," she explained softly.
Nodding her head again she turned her nose up slightly and scoffed. " It's a bloody death trap, it is. Creaky floorboards and foul smells. It's dreadful." ANd it was. She said so.
" That boat is the least of my worries where Hogwarts is concerned. I am more worried about Lord Borr and the Ministry approved professors that we have waltzing around here. I mean, has anyone read Hogwarts, A History? This is like Dolores Umbridge all over again. Only worse. Far worse, if you ask me," she said in that same conspiratorial tone.

"Ooh I'm sure he'd love to meet Salander! And yes, two overage wizards would definitely stand to help me and my clumsiness," Alice said with a little chuckle, admiring the bruise she got on her arm from walking into the wardrobe one too many times so far this term.
The new professors were ministry improved? How had Alice been missing these things?! "That is a frightening thought...it would be scary to think about having another Umbridge at Hogwarts since we know how well that went the first time. I wonder why the Ministry is interfering though...I mean, what's the need? Other than that boat nothing about Hogwarts has really changed." Alice shot another look out the window, this time a feeling of uncertainty rising in her. "Do you think the Ministry knows where Professor Welton is and they're just not saying?"

Alice shot another look out the window, this time a feeling of uncertainty rising in her. "Do you think the Ministry knows where Professor Welton is and they're just not saying?" Wait... that was ALL that need improving? " Alice, since the Ministry started getting involved last term... what has needed the most change around here is our lack of magical education. We spent an entire term learning about Muggles. And if that is what we wanted, we would have all attended Muggle schools. Really. I mean, it's useless to spend a DADA class period talking about Muggles, is it not? Lord Borr... MINISTER Borr, is now our DADA professor and has chosen not to even show up at the school to do what he calls teaching. He owled in a list of physical exercises for us to do all term long," she explained in hushed tones as she took on a more serious look.
" We are not being taught properly. At all. It's outrageous. We should have been learning to cast a Patronus charm or something as opposed to listening to talk about a cult and having an entire class period interrupted by a Ministry Liason." She was not so keen on Mr. Ikenna now that she had a bigger view of things. It was disgusting to her that she had not seen the bigger picture earlier.

Alice bit her lower lip as she listened to Lexi somewhat rant about what was wrong with Hogwarts. "I wasn't really attending classes much last term for reasons you know," said Alice with an apologetic grimace. "I do find it horrible that our so-called DADA professor is just sending us a list of things to do rather than showing up, but honestly that sends more of a sign that the Ministry is hurting our education rather than helping it. I honestly can't say why our class last term dealt with so much muggle talking, especially since we have a muggle studies class, but I'll agree that that's not right either. Has the ministry said exactly what changes they want to bring to Hogwarts?"
Alice understood that since she grew up as a muggle child she was out of the loop on a lot of the inner workings of the magical world. Sure, Hogwarts had helped her to gain knowledge that she needed, but ultimately when she left Hogwarts Alice went home to a muggle father, in a muggle town, completely cut off from all things magical. "What has Headmaster Tate been saying about all of this?" Alice leaned forward in her chair slightly, hoping that she could absorb everything that she had clearly missed from Lexi.

Lexi gave a little snort and crossed her arms over her chest. " It's all ridiculous. That is what it is," she said crossly. " If I wanted a shoddy education, like I said, I could have gone to Muggle school and never learnt about magic," she said. Uncrossing her arms to brush some hair from her face she grimaced for a moment. " It seems to me that the Ministry wants us to be learned in Muggle everything... that our magical education is less important for some reason. What that reason is, I have no idea."
Tate. SIGH. " He can't say anything can he? The Ministry already did away with the Department of Magical Education... what's to stop them from doing away with the school governors or the Headmaster? I think Headmaster Tate is between the proverbial rock and a hard place, so to speak." She felt sorry for him... it was not in his nature to be this... laid back about things at his school. But, he can't seem to fight them without putting the students in more danger.

"Well the only reason I can think of is that they want us doing less magic. If they have us spending all of our time learning about muggles, then that's less time spent doing actual magic. Kind of sounds like the Ministry is concerned but I don't really know why. I mean, unless the ministry knows something I don't, there's not really a reason for them to be concerned about us learning magic, right? I mean it's not like You-Know-Who is back and kicking, and raising an army again..." said Alice, the thought of a dark wizard of that stature returning sending a chill down her spine...so much death and destruction. "Poor Headmaster Tate," Alice said with a little frown. "It must be frustrating watching something you care about so much taken completely out of your hands."
