Fire and paper do not go well together. The library, therefore, features a reduced number of torches on the walls to minimize any danger to the books. A number of large stained glass windows, placed at regular intervals where the room is part of the outside wall of the castle, ensure that sufficient light gets in. Stretching all the way to the ceiling, these windows depict different famous witches and wizards, momentous historical occasions, and beautifully detailed magical creatures.
Relax on one of the cushioned window seats. Watch the floor and nearby shelves change subtly in color as the sunlight shines through the stained glass panels. Read a book under the calm gaze of Merlin or the fearsome scowl of a Manticore. Sometimes, it is difficult to stay focused here, but there are students who swear that, when sitting at the window of Rowena Ravenclaw, work gets completed faster.
All rules apply here, and although the glass can't be broken by simple spells or physical force, please be careful and respect the artwork on the windows. Remember to keep your voice down so as not to disturb those also visiting the library.
Rae's eyes went into confusion as Lexi shook her head.. What? "Oh... My dress? I- uh... Yeah sure I guess so." Her face was clueless.. Absolutely dumbfounded... "So... I know that I'm the bride, Fletcher is the groom... There are bridesmaids and groomsmen... I need to pick dresses and flowers. Other than that... I have NO IDEA what goes into a wedding so... What next?"
Geez! "Location, color scheme, music, the reception, seating charts, the person to do the ceremony itself... ummm... decorations, flowers... there is a lot of things to consider for a wedding. Have you decided on the location. That would be the most difficult, or the most important anyway," Lexi rattled off. Not to mention there was food and drink for the reception and all that stuff. My, oh my, Rae REALLY needed Lexi for this. It was clear.

o_O
Uhh..
Location..."What's wrong with the house? Can't it just be by the lake?"
"Seating.... Charts?" Everything sounded hard.. What was a seating chart for? Where would they find someone for the ceremony? "How do you know all this stuff? Do you have a secret identity or something... Lexi! ARE YOU LEADING A DOUBLE LIFE?!" She totally was, Rae knew it...

Lexi was lost in her own daydreams when Rae spoke again. "No the lake is fine. You will need a tent for it though... in case it rains or something. Those can be rented though. And... the seating chart is more of a just in case thing for the reception. If you want to have a formal dinner thing then you need to designate the seats for everyone so people that dislike one another aren't seated together and end up burning the tent down... or that one creepy uncle isn't sitting near kids. Or elves. Or whatever," she said off handed.
...
Double life? SHE WISHED!
Chuckling slightly she shook her head. "No my Aunt Dora got married a few years ago and before she decided to elope she had nearly planned the entire wedding. And I helped her with it as much as I could. She was unstable though... the stress got to her and she binned all the plans and got married on the beach with just she and her husband." And not to mention Lexi had planned her own fairytale wedding as a kid... didn't every girl.
Rae didn't think like a girl yet! That was what was wrong here.

Luke didn't understand that at all. So he decided to just ignore that part. "So...you have a boyfriend?" He smiled teasingly. It sounded like she did. "What's his name?" He cleverly avoided her statement, and previous question.

Maybelle smiled, she missed her talks with Luke. "Yes, Luke, I have a boyfriend." She said, smiling at the though of him. "His name is Jake Newman, Isobel's brother." She said, explaining who he was. "You never answered my question mister." She said poking him. "Who do you like?" She asked again, this time she was going to get an answer.

"Isobel has a brother?" Luke considered that. He thought he vaguely remembered her saying that..."What house is he in?" Was he in the best house? *cough*Gryffindor*cough* "I don't have to answer." He looked at her for a minute. "Fine, yes, I like Isobel. Happy now?"

Maybelle laughed. "Yes, Isobel has a brother." Maybelle laughed. She had hoped Jake was in the BEST house... (which was Hufflepuff) but sadly, no..he wasn't. "He's in Ravenclaw." She said. Giving the same look back to Luke she smiled evily. "I KNEW IT!!!" She said, a cheesy grin slapped onto her face. She bounced around in her seat, only to be welcomed with pain. "OW!" Maybelle said, holding her finger. "Stupid bludger."

So, he was right. Yeah, because Maybelle had just said that. Well, he was still right. So, he wasn't in the best house. Luke supposed Ravenclaw was cool too. Not as cool as Gryffindor, but, you know. Luke rolled his eyes. "Don't go telling her that now." It was probably some girl thing, and Maybelle would tell Isobel about their entire conversation.

It was not a stretch to say that Rae was ENTIRELY lost. It was like her eyes glazed over as Lexi spoke... NO IDEA WHAT SHE SAID.... "Should I be taking notes or something? Cause I didn't know I was supposed to bring parchment and a quill... Not to mention I haven't had any ink all year... " She always sat next to someone with ink then would dip in her quill when they weren't looking. That's how you bum it your seventh year. "Do they have books in this library on weddings? Or can you make me a list? And I'll just split the list into me and the bridesmaids.... Sound good? Now you can all plan it!"

Lexi heaved a sigh and shook her head at Rae. Digging in her bag she pulled out one of the many inkwells she kept in there. "Here you can have this one. I have many more," she said. "And yes, you should write it all down and be organized."
After a moment she shook her head again. "I am sure there isn't any book on it here. Muggle bookstores would have something I reckon. But the maid of honor is supposed to help the bride. I will do whatever I can, but Evelyn is technically supposed to be doing. And I will loan you something to wear in the wedding so you will have your borrowed bit. You know... Some old, something new, something borrowed and something blue." She was sure she didn't know.

"Gee. Thanks." he said with a smirk. "I don't mind it so much from you though." he said giving her a little playful nudge in the arm. Eek. So she had heard something. He chuckled nervously. "So how bad are the rumors?" he asked. The one downside of being at Hogwarts was that since the school was so small and enclosed that rumors seemed like the only source of entertainment.
Mina smiled as she closed her book as well and placed it with her other things. She figured she wasn't about to get much reading done at the moment. "Welcome love," she replied as she shook her head slightly. "Not really, just reading up on some things and getting a start on some assignments." Homework could wait for the moment, there were more pressing things and it was rare she did get alone time with her bestie.
"Anything," she smirked. "It's part of our bestie pact, so there isn't much you can really do about it now," she laughed as she returned his nudge with her own playful one. They had really gone through a lot with each other and taking the mickey out of each other was expected after being friends for the past six years. "Just as bad as they always are," she shrugged. "Word gets out and you know how they are. People make a HUGE deal over little things. I know I'm guilty of it myself, but you take it all with a grain of salt." Students liked to talk and there really wasn't much they could do about it. Speaking up either just added fuel to their fires or just didn't help at all. "I mean what can we do about it now? Seriously, all the rumours we have been part of. We should be used to them by now. I'm sure the one about me being one of your fangirls is going around still, even though I'm with someone and very happy."
Oh yes, she was VERY aware of that rumour from her past.

"Oh. Homework. I should really work on some sometime..." Carter said trying to sneak a peek at Mina's. Maybe she had some already done... and her answer may just give him the inspiration to start his. But her papers looked pretty blank. She must have gotten there just before he did.
"Oh yes. The 'best friend pact'." he said with a nod. "One of those books I should have probably read before I agreed to it but never got around to..." he said with a chuckle. "So as my oldest and closest friend you have a right to tease me... always." he said holding up a finger as if making a list. "Anything else I should know about?" he said in a teasing voice. "I'd hate for there to be a surprise somewhere down the line because I didn't do my 'friend homework'." he said with a smirk.
"That's what I was afraid of." he said running a hand through his hair. "I've tried talking to her... a few times..." he sighed. "For the life of me I can't figure her out." he said with a shake of his head. He shook his head again. "She's just so infuriating. Has she always been that way?"
He chuckled softly at the 'fangirl' statement. "You mean... you're not my fangirl anymore?" he asked in a mock hurt voice. It would be crazy if that rumor was still around seeing as it started in their first year thanks to his ever-so-lovely first girlfriend Marilyn.

"Yeah, it's usually a good idea to do some of it," Mina teased. She always knew she was the studious on in their friendship and that suited her fine. "It isn't all as bad as it seems. It can be a little but fun at the same time," she added as she noticed his glance at her journal. "You know if you ever want to study together, we can." They hadn't studied together in ages and it would give them another excuse to hang out.
"You didn't read it? For shame Carter Phillips!" she laughed as she shook her head. "We will have to find you a copy of it for you to read now. There are guidelines to the pact after all and a little refresher wouldn't hurt." In actuality there really wasn't much to their pact, but she did love to tease him. "I will forgive you this time, because we are such old and close friends. Let me think, I'm not sure what else I can tell you. The rules are different between besties if they are both girls and if one is a boy." Bestie girls had the Girl code and she knew boys had a Boy Code as well. "We have to be honest with each other and that kind of stuff, but that doesn't really need to be said." Really, they did have a great friendship and very little could come between them after all they had gone through in the past few years.
Patting his arm, she offered him a small smile. "You know it will calm down after some time, but you knew it wasn't going to be easy." she shrugged. Yes, she was friends with Marie as well and it had taken some time for that to happen. So she was aware what it was like to talk to her when she was upset and all. "It's Marie we are talking about Carter. She has her moments, we all do but you have to think about things in her eyes sometimes." A lot had happened over the years and they weren't the innocent third years they used to be. "You know we have all grown up a little bit and we change too. You have to remember that the kids we were before aren't us any more, even if we wish we were them again." Things were so much more easier when they were first and second years, but growing up was about change. "You shouldn't try to figure out, I mean you just have to accept that's who she is and yes, I think she has always been like that. I've just accepted that's who she is and I don't let it affect me. I can't change who she is or how she'll react to things, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to her her friend still." It took too much energy to change someone.
Again, she reached over and patted his hand. "Sorry, but my little fangirl heart belongs to another." she replied with puppy eyes and a tiny smirk. She could understand where and why the rumour started, but she was no longer that little girl and it wasn't like the secret wasn't out now. She told Carter herself how she felt about them and in her mind it was all out there now and water under the bridge.

Carter chuckled. "Study together?" he asked. "There's a reason we stopped doing that..." he said with a smirk. "It was because you actually made me do my homework. Where's the fun in that?"
He chuckled again. "I know. I know. I'm horrible." he joked. "Perhaps they keep a copy here..." he said casually glancing at a nearby bookshelf. "Actually... I bet it's kept in the restricted section. They wouldn't want to make it too easy for slackers like me who should have read it years ago." He nodded. "Naturally." he said. "But we've never had problems with that sort of thing."
"Yeah. True. But you would think that after all Marilyn put her through she'd lay off a bit, you know?" he said. Really. It was beginning to become a curse. His ex would taunt his current. "Yeah, I know that. Wouldn't that be more of a reason for her to just let it go?" he asked. "You know... I've tried not to let it get to me. I really have. And Caroline has been great about it..." He sighed. He just wanted to fix it. He couldn't accept that Marie was just being Marie with Caroline. There just had to be an underlying reason. And he was positive it had something to do with him.
He smiled. "My girl is growing up." he said giving her a little playful shove. "She's moved on." He wiped an invisible tear from his eye.

Mina had to laugh and shook her head. "Homework is kind of important, you know." Well, it was very important to her and she knew she was a bit obsessed with it at time. Okay, maybe it was more than just a bit. She was just an overachiever. "Well, if you want you can just watch me do my homework and not do yours." she added after sticking her tongue out at him in jest. They could tell everyone they were doing homework with each other but as long as one of them was doing homework it would count.
Shaking her head again, she laughed. "I don't know what I ever ever do with you, Carter." He was really something, but she wouldn't change that for the world. "I'm sure it's hidden away somewhere, or maybe it's hidden in plain sight. You know the best place to hide things are in the open." There wasn't any real reason they would need such a book, but it was nice to joke about it. In her opinion, their friendship seemed to just make its own rules. That's what was kind of special about it. "Nope, not really at least. i mean eventually we always do tell each other the truth." There weren't that many secrets between the two of them and even when there was, they still did manage to get over it and came out of it as strong as before. Seriously, their biggest fights were rather angst-driven and look at where they were now.
"Hello! Carter you have this thing for dating girls that are related and with that you need to know that no matter what, they are going to fight. They will say it's because of you, but it could be a family things too." It was rather odd that he did have this thing for blonde Slytherins, but to each their own and all that jazz. "She's just being Marie, you and I know that. Plus it sounds like Caroline is taking it in stride and all too. You know it's like a rite of passage for all your girlfriends. Only the strong ones will survive being harassed by your exs. Maybe it's the Slytherin way or something." Kind of warped, but it could be true. "I say you just keep doing what you do and let things work themselves out. Things aren't always what they seem and maybe in the end everything will make sense." Okay, she was starting to sound like her Divination textbook again.
Mina giggles and shoved him back playfully. "Well it was about time she got herself someone to treat her like a princess from time to time," she replied. Yes, she really was growing up and so was her boy. "Besides, my boy seemed to grow up without me and I needed to catch up a bit."
Nika decided to go visit the library again. Not for books, but for the window. She liked the stained glass window, more than the books. Besides last time she was here she had to do her DADA homework so why not come here again to get some more of it done. She found a nice place to sit in front of it and was getting ready to take out her assignment sheet when she spotted an unfamiliar face. "Hiya!" The cheerful gryffindor said beaming at the girl. She hadn't seen this girl around before so maybe that means she's a first year? Wouldn't be surprised, Hogwarts swimming in them this year.
Layla realized this girl noticed her. Seriously? She looked behind her to make sure that she wasn't talking to someone else. She then became very happy. "Hi!" She said. This was her chance to meet someone from another House. Layla noticed her hair was streaked with red! She must have been a Gryffindor! "Are you a Gryffindor? I've been wanting to meet a one!" Layla asked excitedly. But she then remembered that people usually get creeped out when she does that. "Oops..." She muttered under her breath.

Carter chuckled. "But if you do your homework what am I supposed to do?" he asked. He chuckled again. "Maybe I'll just agree to your original offer of doing homework together. That is... if you think you can stand watching me attempt it."
He smirked. "Oh. You're just going to have to love me for who I am." he said with a bright smile. "Hidden in plain sight eh?" he asked. He walked over to a nearby stack of books and shifted through them. "No luck. I might just have to figure out where my copy went." he said joining her again. He smiled as she said there were no secrets between the two of them. "And that's one of the reasons we make such a good team."
"It is not my fault that everyone in the wizarding world is related in some way." he said running a hand through his hair. Okay, so Caroline, Marie, and Marilyn were more than 'related in some way', they were cousins... "Actually... Marie said that it didn't have anything to do with me." he said quietly. This bit left him completely confused. If it had nothing to do with him then why was Marie taunting Caroline about him? Girls made no sense. "Yeah... I was just hoping it would have worked itself out already..." he said with a little shake of his head.
He smiled. "Well I guess I can be okay with that then." He was glad Evan was treating her so well. And even though he wasn't on the best of terms with Evan... he learned to deal with it because Evan made Mina happy.

Nika couldn't help but laugh at the girl's enthusiasm. Is this what she sounds like!? "Yeah. I am a Gryffindor." she said smiling. Gryffindor, the awesome-house-that-is-going-to-win-the-house-cup-again Yes, Gryffindor it is. "What house are you in?" Mina shrugged and smiled innocently. "I'm sure you could think of things to do." It wasn't like she actually got much homework done when she did study with Carter, but it was still fun to try. "You know, I'd help you if you wanted." she laughed. "It would be a group effort of sorts. I'm not great in all subjects and I'm sure you could help me in those."
Shaking her head, Mina laughed softly and smiled. "Silly, you already know I lover you for how you are already. I mean I'm still here, aren't I?" she replied as she watched him look for the book. "Maybe someone actually checked it out. It's possible that there are other besties out there that need a little refresher course." she laughed. "We really do make a good team, don't we?" Thinking back, they did jsut seem to get each other and what not. She really lucked out with this one but she was so happy to call him her bestie.
"Yeah, but you seriously need to stop dating in the same family," she shrugged. "It's not healthy at all and it's kind of creepy." Seriously, what were the odds that all three of his last girlfriends were all cousins. He did have a point that in their world everyone was related in one way or another, but he was keeping all in one family. "Well, if that's what she says then there isn't much you can really do about it." Hearing that part kind of confused her, but she wasn't one to really ask questions when it came to Marie. She learned a long time ago that somethings were just left in question. "I'm sure it will and everything will be back to normal, or as close to normal as we can expect." There was never going to be normal for them when it came to matters of the heart, but she wanted to be a bit optimistic for her bestie's sake.
"Well, I'm happy you are okay that," she beamed. The likely chance that the two of them could be friends wasn't very likely and she could accept that for now. At least her bestie and her boyfriend didn't openly fight with each other and were civil. She didn't want to have to pick between them. That would just break her heart after all.

Nika beamed at Layla. She could just tell that this girl was a first year. It was obvious, but then again people could probably assume the same thing about Nika last term. Nika wasn't taken by surprise when the girl told her she was in hufflepuff. Well it's not like the tie gave it away or anything... Hehe. "I'm in my second year!" She said proudly as she held up the number two with her hands. She was so proud of being old. Yes, 12 is old. At least in Nika's book it is. "I'm guessing you're in your first?"

"Aw that's so sweet! My owl's called Sunny because... well, I just liked that name!" Plus, she liked to fly when it was sunny? Hmm.
"My favourite lesson is Charms! I'm only a second year but I seem to have a talent for it! I even tutored my friends to help them pass the exam last year!" Not that she was bragging or anything. She scratched the back of her neck and continued to read. "But care of magical creatures probably comes in second for me. It's just so interesting!"
"Sunny is a really cute name for an owl," Xandi smiled as she flicked to the next page of her book. "I wanted an owl but my parents are a bit freaked out by the whole concept of the post being delivered that way so there was no point. I still got a cat though." She sighed and looked over to Emily.
"I don't know much about charm work so at least now I know where to go if I need help."

"I'm allergic to cats." she commented "But yeah, I see why they might be a bit freaked out. But I'm sure over time they'll get more used to it." She smiled kindly as she looked up from her book. "I'm always happy to help." she said putting her book down and taking out her wand. "Watch this."
She cleared her throat and pointed her wand at her book. Tapping it she said "Epoximise!" and smiled at Xandi. "Try to move it! It'll be stuck to the floor like glue!"
