... again? But... Helena made sure to read those muggle fairytales, so she knew this one now. HA! So... she raised her hand. "Well... It really does end with the True Love's Kiss." And it was just so adorable! "After Snow White... kind of died," kind of? Seriously? "The prince kissed her and awakened her." With the True Love's Kiss. "Oh, and the rest of the fairytale... Snow White's stepmother gives her a poisoned apple," because she didn't like the idea of Snow White being prettier than her, "and she takes a bite and... I already said this part earlier," Helena finished, blushing. She told a really quick plot-summary, beginning with the ending. Reeeeaaally intelligent. |

"Alright sir, so basically..there's this girl and her name is Snow White. And she like gets lost in the woods and meet these seven dwarfs, who have silly names like Dopey. And then there is this evil Witch I guess and she asks her mirror who is the best girl ever and she wants it to say her. But the mirror is all 'Snow White is' so she gets angry and goes and finds her. When she finds her she gives her this poison apple and Snow White takes a bite and like falls into this sleeping death thing. But then Prince comes and kisses her and he loved her all along and the kiss was like a true love kiss that saved her, and she woke up and everyone was happy and danced." He took a deep breath. Wow. Not that he retold it that story was more evil that it seemed. "Oh, and everyone lived happily ever after." |

But HEHEHEHE. He was talking about TRUE LOVE'S KISS. How freaking awesome was that. Of course she wasn't going to moon over Zookara with Salander in the room. THat was just rude and wrong. So she shifted in her seat and turned when she heard... Quote:

haha. SORRY. Can't be helped. Quote:
UGH. Legend Chosen was TALKING and ruining the moment. Neptune turned in her desk (she was DEFINITELY sitting front row) to look at him. "What do YOU know about princes and kissing? HMPH." she whispered accusingly at him. He was so.... HMPH-WORTHY. Quote:
...GIGGLE. GIGGGGGLE. GIGGLES FOR LIFE. See Lexi? SEE? Zookara > Tate. Tate would NEVER have them learn about true love's kiss. In addition to giggles, Neptune sent Lexi SMUG looks. She'd ALWAYS said Zoo was better. |
Ariadne liked Professor Zookara already. He was the first one to actually ask her to tell him her name and seemed he wasn't just doing that out of obligation and whatnot. The firstie smiled and introduced herself: 'I am Ariadne Marchbanks, sir. First year Gryffindor.' She sat down quickly as the class was about to start. Hmm...Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?!? What on Earth was that? 'Er-there's no similar story in The Tales of Beedle the Bard, is there?' the tiny brunette asked, almost sure the answer would be negative. Her only possibility was to sit back and listen what her colleagues were saying, and maybe take notes. She didn't grew up with Muggle fairytales. |

Legend winced as she began to whisper to him. Like HEEE didn't know what he was talking about. Which he did. Because he had read the book enough times to Robin to know what he was talking about. Bott was just being annoying. "I know a lot. Like if I was a Prince the world would be a better place." Yeah. Uhuh. One points for Legend. "And that in Muggle Fairy tales, there is always some type of kiss." That didn't really earn him a point. Legend didn't know much about kissing. BUT HE WOULD ACT LIKE IT. If it meant taking away Neptune's smug attitude. |
Quote:
Oh REALLY? Neptune laughed at him. LOL. LAUGHED. "Snow White would have DIED if you were the Prince. You wouldn't have kissed her. You wouldn't know how." Simple. "The world would be Snow White-less if YOU were a Prince." Hmph. |
Iris looked up from the page of her notebook As she listened to the students answer his question, she frowned. Yeah... the Head Girl was vaguely familiar with that Muggle Fairytale... but she'd just stay quiet for now. The other students seemed to remember/know it better than she did anyway. Looking towards Neptune and Legend, the blonde raised her eyebrow at the little bits of their whispered conversation that she caught. They were both REALLY odd... |

Fee listened to the professor intensly and smiled at the mention of last years muggle studies lesson. It really got interrupted to early and the blonde was happy that the professor had decided to continue with it now.Snow White was such a beautiful fairytale."Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is a fairytale about a princess with really black hair, really pale skin and really red lips. She is send away to be safe from her wicked step mother who is jealous of her beauty. The step mother was only jealous because her magical mirror told her that Snow White was waaay more beautiful",the girl started to tell the story of one of her fave muggle fairytales," Anyways, the huntsman couldn't kill the princess so he told her to run away into the woods and he took back the heart of a deer and said it was Snow White's heart. In the deepest forest she finds a little cottage who belonged to seven dwarves who worked as miners. The queen later found out that Snow White was living there and still more beautiful so she made up a plan to get rid of the girl. When to of her plans failed the queen poisoned an apple and dressed up as an old woman and offered the apple to snow white who fell for it, bit it and died.At least that was what it looked lile. The dwarves found her and put her in a glass coffin in the middle of the forest because they said she was too beautiful to bury and still looked like she was sleeping." So far with the sad part of the story,as kid the blonde had always hated it uptil the next part.Hehe." One day a prince found her and thought how beautiful she looked and kissed her laying there in the coffinand that was when the piece of poisoned apple was dislodged from her throat and she woke up.She woke up due to the princes true love kiss." Sooooo romantic.Siiigh. |
Ella listened to the older girls' answer. Snow White & the Seven Dwarves.. she had read that.. maybe. Quite possibly.. Merh. It sounded familiar anyways. Suddenly she giggled softly as she caught snatches of a conversation a couple of other older students were having. Drifting off into a day dream, Ella began to draw her very on dwarf on a scrap bit of parchment... |
"I'm Katharos , Sir. Daichi Katharos" The first year introduced himself when the Professor asked for his name. He gave him a smile and proceeded to sit down. After some moments more students started to show up and class started. They were going further where they had ended last year? He was really curious about what happened last year when it got interupted... Maybe he could ask Evan or ... what's his name...he couldn't remember the guy's name but he KNEW he had met him in the train. Snapping his attention back to the class, Daichi listened as the Professor asked them about Snow white. "Snow white was a girl who had skin white as snow, blood red lips, and hair black as ebony." .........that's it.....that's all he could remember. Was that weird? It is a cool story though... He knows that much. Luckily for him his mother would have told him muggle fairtales before he went to sleep and his father did the wizarding ones. Ah he missed that time... Focus Daichi. But what he did NOT like was the kissing part. He made a face when older students mentioned the kissing thing. "BLegh! Kissing.." he muttered to himself. |

Ian sat up just a bit as the teacher spoke and was listening to the responses. He was familiar with the story of course but the most entertaining part was listening to the two students nearby discuss what was important about kissing and whether or not the boy would have caused the death of Snow White with his inadequate kiss. He did find some more humor in the boys bravado. |
Kyle sat there, furrowing her brow wondering what to write about true loves kiss - or to think for a story. This was going to be interesting. |

"Snow White was a princess, but after her mum died, her father married a evil step-mother. Um, in the muggle story she's called a witch." Presley felt unsure of whether or not she should have added that, but this class was about wizards interacting with muggles, right? "The step-mother had a mirror that told her she was the fairest in the land, but one day it said that Snow White was the fairest, so the step-mother tried to have her killed, but Snow White ran away, and lived in a house with seven dwarfs. Well, the step-mother found out she was still alive, and continued to try to kill her under several different disguises. For the last one, she poisoned an apple, which Snow White ate. The dwarfs thought she was dead, so they put her in a glass coffin, and a Prince came and saw her. He kissed her, and she came back to life. But my mother always used to tell me that the prince was carrying the coffin to his palace, and the bit of apple came loose, and she came back to life." That was actually the shortest summing-up Presley could give. She felt like she'd been talking for hours. |

"Professsor Zookara," Kurumi chirped with her hand up in the air. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of the many stories collected by the Brothers Grimm." Kurumi paused seeing that some other students had already given rather lengthy summaries of the plot. "In the story, jealous and vain queen attempts to get rid of her beautiful step-daughter, Snow White, who takes refuge with seven dwarfs in their forest home. The queen changes into a witch and tempts Snow White with a poisoned apple which puts her into an everlasting sleep, until a prince finds her in a glass coffin and awakens her with True Love's Kiss. Actually it was their first kiss, so I suppose the correct wording would be Love's First Kiss." Kurumi's cheeks flushed a bit and she tugged on her hair. "True Love's Kiss is the most powerful thing in the world." At least, that is what the stories always implied. "Professor Zookara," Kurumi asked tilting her head to the side. "Do you know why in non-magical fairy tales it seems to always come down to a kiss? In the Little Mermaid, she had to receive True Love's Kiss if she didn't want to turn into sea foam. There are many others as well..." Not that Kurumi was complaining. She liked the idea of a kiss being very powerful, though she would never say it outloud. |
Ahhhh fairy tales. It brought back so many memories of his childhood, but of course Alex didn't know many MUGGLE fairy tales. Half of them were really disgusting too, if you stumbled upon a certain version. He raised his hand to answer the question, hoping that he was currently thinking of the right tale as he began to summarize it. "Well, this evil queen is like, stupidly jealous of her step-daughter and tries to have her killed so she can be the prettiest person in the kingdom, or something. But the hunter couldn't kill her and instead he let her run away, and she stumbled upon this house with 7 tiny little guys living inside," he explained with a nod. "But the queen found out that Snow White was still alive, so she dresses up like a banshee or somthing and gives her a poisoned...pear? Watermelon? A poison fruit of some sort. Instead of killing her, however, she basically falls into a coma, and the dwarves can't bring themselves to bury her and just leave her lying in a glass coffin somewhere," THAT part was weird. Who'd want to see a DEAD lady just laying there in the middle of nowhere? "But then the prince comes and for some reason decides to kiss the dead girl, but since she was just sleeping, 'true loves kiss' wakes her up and they live happily ever after!" he said with a smile. THERE, he'd done it! "Oh, and the queen dies at some point too." he added. And he was pretty sure the 7 dwarves had something to do with that. Ah well, he couldn't remember, that'd been all the way back to LAST YEAR. |
Fairy tales!? UHHHHH WHAT. Elise was a bit...lost. Her father had never told her these stories when she was a child but she had heard the whole nonsense about 'true love's first kiss' from her friends growing up. This Snow White girl sounded very pretty, but obviously not as pretty as Elise of course. She was trying to remember the things her friends said about this story. Was this the one with the beast? Or was that a different one? Her classmates seemed to know more about this than her. That made her a bit nervous. Why did her father never tell her stories!? The two students bickering back and forth were making this class amusing though. Maybe they'd get themselves thrown out of class eventually. That'd be a laugh. "Isn't that the one where the queen gives Snow White some sort of fruit or vegetable and it puts her to sleep then the prince has to kiss her and she wakes up? I guess that was 'true love's first kiss' even though I think there was another explanation for it." At least there had to be in her mind. |
:: Ganymede raised her hand and announced "Snow White, I was told she was a vampire... or maybe that was the Queen. Well, I know for sure the Queen wanted to have Snow White's heart." Then Ganymede added with a horrible grin, "The Queen is later punished by Snow White. She is forced to wear hot iron shoes and dances til she drops." :: |
Penny was almost beside herself with glee... "I know this story, I grew up listening to it, my mum would read it to me at bedtime.."...she thought... Then raising her hand.."Snow White lived in a far away land, and she was the prettiest and fairest in all the land... An evil witch had a mirror, which she asked every day 'who is the fairest in all the land' and normally it would reply that she was... But one day it replied that another was more pretty than she... so the evil witch sent an assassin to kill Snow White - but he couldn't and let her go free... next day, the witch asked the mirror again, and he gave the same reply that another was fairer than she.. Snow White had gone into hiding, living with the 7 dwarves... the witch found her and tricked her into eating a poisoned apple - which should have killed her - the dwarves believing she was dead, put her in a glass coffin.. Then a Prince charming came to visit, seen snow white in the coffin and kissed her - and Snow White woke up to her Prince Charming - they married and lived happily ever after.... " Aww she'd always loved that story... |
Rose having been raised in the magical world had never heard of fairy tales... so this 'Snow White' girl was all strange and new.... but listening to the story that her classmates told, thought that she seemed like a very pretty girl, who the evil witch was jealous of.... So she contented herself in listening to the others and making notes...deciding that that was why she was here - to learn all about Muggles !! |
She'd missed the lesson on fairy tales? Eh. Well, at least she was here for part two NOW. Hehe. Arya listened with interest as other provided answers, not providing any herself since SO MANY answers were given. She didn't doddle too much either, she wanted to see where this lesson would lead to. |
Oooh, oooh, oooh, I know! I know!!! Melina refrained from actually saying it out loud as she raised her hand. Muggle fairy tales? Merlin's polka-dot socks, that's brilliant!!!! "Yes, professor," she beamed. "Snow White was a beautiful princess raised outside the Dark Forest of Germany. Her Stepmother was an evil queen- you see, both Snow White's real parents had died, which happens a lot in Muggle fairy tales- oh, but anyway. The evil queen was quite vain and wished to be the fairest woman in the land. She consulted with her "magic mirror", as the Muggles call it, which told her everyday that she indeed was the fairest. Until one fateful day." Here she paused for effect. "Going about her daily trip to the mirror, the queen was horrified to hear that she was most certainly not the fairest anymore. To add insult to injury, the mirror showed her that it was her own step-daughter, Snow White, who had kicked her out of first place. She was furious! She called a local huntsman to her and told him to take Snow White into the forest and kill her. She even provided the bloke with a small box in which to put the poor girl's heart so that the queen could see that she was really dead. Sick woman," she shook her head. "The huntsman takes Snow White to the forest, but can't bring himself to kill such a sweet, innocent girl. He tells her of the queen's plot and warns her to run away. He then kills a pig and puts its heart in the box. The queen was either nearsighted or had never actually seen a real human heart, because she bought his lie hook, line, and sinker." "Meanwhile, Snow White runs through the forest, terrified, and happens upon a little cottage. She goes inside and finds no one home. She sees 7 little chairs and 7 little beds and assumes that the cottage is full of children. She also assumes they have no mother because the place is a disaster. So she cleans up the whole house and falls asleep across their beds that night, completely exhausted. That's when the 7 dwarves- the real occupents of the cottage- return from their work in the mines." "First they freak out that their house is clean, and then that some strange human girl is sprawled out across their beds. Snow White is equally freaked out when they wake her up. But when she tells them of the queen's plot to kill her, they take pity upon her and allow her to stay, offering their protection. She in turn offers to cook and clean for them- kind of like a reverse-house elf thing. Well, it was a win-win for all of them." "Unfortunately, the nasty queen went to her mirror to hear him tell her she was all fabulous again, when he says 'Nope- Snow White's still more beautiful than you are!' Well, now she's livid. She uses a potion to transfigure herself into the image of an old beggar woman and finds Snow White at the cottage when the dwarves are at work. The 'beggar woman' offers Snow White a shiny red apple, which she'd secretly poisoned. Snow White accepts what she believes to be the kind gesture and takes a nice juicy bite. Seconds later, she falls to the floor in a death-like dream state." Melina sighed with a dreamy sadness. "So the dwarves come home and find Snow White, and they're heartbroken. They create a coffin out of glass and gold and set it on a dias, so that her beauty would never decay in the earth. It sat there until one day, when a prince from a neighboring kingdom happened upon it. He stopped to gaze at the girl. Overwhelmed with sadness at such a beautiful life cut short, he opens the lid of the coffin and places a single kiss on her red lips. His act of pure unselfish love breaks the death-spell on Snow White, and her eyes flutter open. The prince lifts her up and returns her to the overjoyed dwarves, and promises to return after he'd slain the wicked queen. And when he does, he comes back for her and takes her back to his kingdom where they both lived happily ever after." Sigh. What a beautiful story. The 11-year old was so caught up in her reverie that she didn't even hear any of the upperclassmen snickering, rolling their eyes, and gagging themselves. |
:: Ganymede face palmed herself at the long winded explanation from the Ravenclaw (Melina). She was astounded at all the different versions she was hearing from the other students in class. On the scale of annoyance.. 10 being utterly gag inducing, Ganymede felt, Ravenclaw was at the top at a 10, followed by Hufflepuff at about a 7 and then the Gryffindors at around a 4. She was so relived to be a Slytherin today. She rolled her eyes and place her head into her hands. :: |
