Ariella smiled. "My great-grandmother was named Matilda. Oh, and I'm Ariella Adler."

"I'm a first year also! This is great! We'll be in the same dormitory!" Elle couldn't wait to hang out with Ariella. Growing up with four brothers was okay, if you wanted to rough house all day, but she couldn't wait to see what it would be like living with girls. "So, where are you from?" asked Elle. "That is going to be so cool!" Ariella was starting to love Elle...she seemed so nice! "I'm from boring old London, of course. What about you?"

'Oh, you couldn't have been a Squib even if you wished for it, being part of such a family, Though I can't see why anyone would wish to be a Squib.' Ariadne chuckled.

'Sienna...such a beautiful name! And the kitten is just as pretty as the name.' the girl replied, in awe. She loved animals, and especially cats. She felt she could relate to them, as a girl who loved independence. 'I've also got a cat, but mine's a male, I named him Pluto.' she commented.

'Do you think it'll take long till we can go to our common room? I feel very tired all of a sudden, and it's been such a long day.' Ari said, trying to suppress a yawn.



'I'm still going to be competitive about the Cup, I want it for Gryffindor, as much as I love my friends from other Houses.' the girl replied, dead-serious. She would take it as a personal failure if Gryffindor didn't win. 'The Sorting Hat knows best, but it did hesitate for a while.' Ari confessed.

'Oh, come on, you don't have enough friends? I think you're very popular.' Ariadne observed. 'And you're far from boring. You're not like everyone else, and that clearly caught my attention.' she added.

Why were boys so oblivious sometimes? 'Yes, you are good looking, but I'm saying this for the final time so you'd better let it sink in. However, I'm sure you'll hear it again from someone else pretty soon. Who do you resemble most, your mum or your dad?' the girl asked.

Ariadne was so happy the boy finally felt a little more comfortable in her presence and enyoyed their shared laugh. The girl started to think that maybe she was good at making friends after all, although she wasn't what you'd call sociable. But she was likeable.

'As much as I like cheese, I must admit it's not an option to have it as a life-long meal. ' she continued laughing. 'Cooking shows? So you grew up in the Muggle world?' Ari asked. 'Wait- before you say anything, please don't take it as an offense. I was just curious, there's nothing wrong with living in the Muggle world, like there's nothing wrong with being a Muggle. I've got many Muggle friends, in fact.' the girl felt the need to clarify that.

'Your sister'll be coming to Hogwarts in two years time, I guess it's going to be nice having her around. Probably she'll be in Gryffindor too. Have your brothers already graduated?' Ari asked. Only after a while did she realise that her hesitation must've seemed really awkward to Matt. And now he was apologizing? 'There's nothing you should be sorry for. It's just...my family situation is a bit...problematic. I'll explain it to you one day, but the start of tearm feast is hardly the place for such a discussion.' Ariadne tried to rectify the situation.

Ariadne already considered Fee the older sister she never had. Okay, maybe that's too dramatic, but anyway, Fee was definitely more than just an ordinary friend. 'Hey! How was the train ride? I looked for you for a while, but it got so crowded, so I gave up. But I'm happy to see you now.' she smiled widely.

'Thank you, I hope I can live up to the expectations people have for Gryffindors.' Those expectations were a lot higher than what people expected of, say, Hufflepuffs. 'I'm a bit sad we're not in the same House, but we'll see each other often, right? Promise?' she asked, hopefully. 'Thank you, I bought some glitter too.' Ari confessed that she was following the blonde's steps.

'To New York? How come? What did you do there?' Ari asked, surprised. 'I just spent my rest of the holiday at home, but it was pleasant.' she replied. 'Oh, Pluto? He's in my dormitory, I don't think he would've appreciated all the noise in here.' the girl explained.

Lexi smiled bright as she could and nodded her head. "It sounds beautiful! Name him something epic... Prometheus or something awesome... Flame... Smoke... " she started to giggle.

Awwww. "It's still a colt. How precious!!"

Melina nearly fell on her backside laughing at the sight of Ari's reaction to her tasty Sorting Hat. She'd made it up on the spot as she was approaching her sweet friend- but usually that's when the best ideas are formed- when you're not actually thinking at all.

What pleased Melina the most was that Ari, typically more reserved than she, fully exploded into laughter for several minutes. Melina loved Ari's quieter nature-it was a much-needed balance to her own hyper one. But when she succeeded in getting her friend to laugh like that, she knew she had really made her happy. Which made Melina even more happy. And so on.

"Yeah, Ravenclaw", she sighed dreamily. "We're nerds and we're proud!" Then her face fell a bit. "I had a feeling you were going to get Gryffindor-and I'm sooooo happy for you- but I was really hoping we'd be roomies too." She shook off her gloom quickly, though; tonight was a night for celebrating!

"But you're right- we'll see each other every day!" she declared emphatically, grabbing hold of both of Ari's hands. "Our common rooms are in the towers, so perhaps we'll be close to yours. Oh," she lowered her voice, "did you hear that the Slytherin common rooms are in the dungeons? UNDERNEATH the lake?!" She grimaced and gave a small shudder.

"Everything's completely surreal right now, like I'm living in a dream. Only this time, when I wake up, I'll still be in the dream! I'm a little nervous-ok that's a lie- a lot nervous about our first day of classes, and if I'm going to get any sleep tonight. I tend to be an insomniac sometimes, especially if it's the night before something big. I think that tonight qualifies spot-on!"

"But why on earth are you worried you're going to lose house points?! Are you planning to sneak into Dumbledore's office and cover it in cheese? If anything, you're going to earn points for them. I know you will! So stop worrying silly!!" she grinned. Taking Ari's hands in hers once more, Melina pulled them close. "It's really begun, hasn't it?" she breathed. "I'm going to make every moment memorable here; I'm ready for the adventure to begin. Are you with me?" she grinned, a gleam of excitement twinkling in her eyes.

Prometheus? Flame? Smoke?

Even if she'd never name her horse any of those, they were better then what she would come up with! "Smoke..." she muttered, weighing the name in her mind. Eh, that wasn't so bad. "I'll think about it later."

Teehee. "Kinda wish I took pictures of him though." Hmmm yeeaaaa, well, she could see him during the holidays perhaps. Maybe. Anyways....

Alliana didn't eat. She had lost her appetite since that say in Knockturn Alley. Something about having her mouth sewn shut for an hour ruined her apatite. She gave her usual glance at the scar on her arm and briefly wondered of she should have never transferred here. She'd only been in England for a week and a half, and she was already running into trouble. "Maybe I shouldn't have come," she sighed deeply. Too late now Alli. She thought to herself and wrinkled her nose at the meal before her.

"You're on." Mordred returned the serious look Ari gave him. He too will try his very best to get the House Cup. The Sorting Hat hesitated? "Maybe you doubted yourself. I'm sure you'll do well here." he said as he looked around the Gryffindor table.

"Popular?" Mordred repeated. "I don't think so." he shook his head and grinned. "I'm really not the friendly type. I'm just glad people come up to me and start the conversation, but I don't consider that as being popular." he said.

"A lot of people say I look more of my mother, but the personality is a lot like my dad." he said. "I know that for sure, because Mother was the sociable one, and I'm not." Mordred chuckled and said "Thank you" for Ari's compliment. He, however did not dare let the compliment sink in. It was really weird to get such compliment for a boy who never cared about his looks. He doubted he'll get the compliment a lot.

Matilda: Really?What a coinsidence.I hope we get to the Gryffindor tower soon because I have this stomachache and I am a bit tired already and if I go to bed I hope this my stomachache is gone when it is morning.Actually I am not in London at all I am from Manchester.Nice name you have Ariella. I like your name.

Simon unconsciously relaxed as Kyle assured them that she was fine, the Gryffindor thinking that perhaps being used to it, she just bounced back most times. "Maybe..." he mused not saying yes or know to whether he agreed with her mother or not about the feistyness of herself and her kitchen. He's hold that opinion for a later date.

"I think you're right," he said, chuckling as the feline in question nudged into the hold of his hand as he petted. The captain could almost imagine her little voice telling him to keep petting him because he found her spot as the kitten started to purr even louder.



"Its nice to meet you Katra," Simon greeted back in return to Kyle's introduction of her cousin. A polite smile across his face as he noted her accent and how the Ravenclaw's seemed to strengthen when around a fellow french speaker. "My summer was good. How about yours?"


Simon leaning on his hand with his elbow on the table, trying not to roll his eyes at his friend's antics and words over his own behavior. He raised an eyebrow as Josh broke off, slightly curious as to what he had actually been going to say. "Well I'll try and you keep insisting that I do when I only act natural so..." he said with a shrug breaking off for Josh to fill in if he felt the need to in his mind.

Caroline moved over to where she others were. and sit across from Kyle. She waved and gave a smile to both Selina and Simon. "Hey Selina, Simon." They were two of the people she had meet threw Kyle over she summer. She noticed Katra's accent. "From France?" she asked. She also noticed Kyle's accent for the first time, she was aware of Kyle being french, but she could really tell compared to her cousins. "How was everyone's summer?"



Caroline's eyes wondered around the table when she seen a fellow Slytherin. She moved over since she was sitting alone. "Mind if I sit with a fellow Snake at the lions table." She chuckled. "I'm Caroline Scott" She said with a smile.

Carter glanced up and down the Gryffindor table before spotting Caroline.

"Caroline!" he practically yelled before rushing over to her. He couldn't believe that he could see her everyday again. During the summer he was lucky enough to catch her during his few trips to Diagon Alley.

But now... now she'd only be just a hallway (and a few flights of stairs) away.

Then he noticed the people around Caroline. He didn't know most of them... but he did see a few familiar faces.

"Simon!" he greeted happily. "Ready for another season?" he asked the quidditch captain.

"Josh! How are you mate?" he asked giving his friend a nice friendly shove.

He looked around once more wondering where Patroclus and Rafe were. Maybe they were at the Slytherin table enjoying the company of their lady friends.

Not spotting them he plopped down in an empty seat.

Ahh... it was so nice to be back at school.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Maybe when we get back to the common room, Eirwen's waiting for me." Zara agreed. Maybe she would sneak in a few food from the feast to feed her... Nah, owls would probably prefer mice, which Zara already has, packed inside her luggage. "Sleep is the best idea I've had so far. Then again, food's good too." Zara said as she started to get lasagna and placed it on her place. She took her fork and dug up, eating to her heart's content...AGAIN.

"Oh. What does he usually eat?" Zara asked, curious about the eating habits of other animals. She had finished eating her ice cream and sandwich. Okay, now she was full...for the second time during the feast. "Ah, but if ever it's delayed, maybe you could use Eirwen to surprise them with a letter. That is, if it's delayed. But if it's not, that's cool, 'ts okay." Zara winked.

Zara looked up at the boy who had just shouted. She raised her eyebrows, 'Now, this must be interesting. A guy shouting his name all across the table, speaking to someone beside me. Oh, it's Ella he's talking to.' Zara thought. She supposed he was getting someone to notice him. Or not. Probably not. Definitely not. Why? Because he looked soaked, and well, he was wet. I guess no one in the proper mind would try to attract attention when he himself is a mess.

Zara nudged Ella. "Who's that guy you've been messing with?" She asked, with her eyebrows raised. Obviously, Zara was curious. Very curious.

Caroline grinned and looked away from the people she was talking with when she heard a voice calling her name that made stop everything that she was doing. It was Carter, who rushing over to her."Carter! How are you doing?" She smiled and started making a bit more room at the table. She didnt't get to see him much this summer, but now they would be able to see each other as often as they want to.

She smiled more it was great being back at Hogwarts, surrounded by her boyfriend and some of her friends. Now there was no dout in her mind that it would be a great term.

Ginny almost missed the wave the lovely girl gave her, as she stumbled down the endless rows of tables.
She finally made it to the girl who looked confident and said shyly, "Uhm, hi. My name's Ginny. What's yours?"

WHAT IN THE WHO NOW? Zack wondered as he stumbled to what would henceforth be his House Table in something of a daze.

He didn't get it. Gryffindor?

Moments Earlier

"Do I look like a man of action to you?" Zack had hissed at the offending psychic accessory currently perched on his head.

"The Sorting Hat doesn't see with its eyes," It taunted him, "It listens, inside your heart and head; that's where your true self lies."

"How poetic," Zack returned, annoyed. "But I clearly have the agile mind of a Ravenclaw, or maybe the cunning and determined heart of a Slytherin. But a Gryffindor?"

"A Gryffindor," the hat had insisted, "Or perhaps you would prefer to return where you were before?"

Okay Gryffindor wasn't that bad, Zack admitted as he took a seat near the end of the table. Just unexpected. He really saw himself... well anywhere else. But then his cousin had been a Gryffindor, and Tobi wasn't exactly a typical Gryffindor either.

It could work out.. right?

"Just nobody better ask me to sedate a dragon," he muttered, leaning toward the middle of the table to serve himself a large piece of steak and kidney pie.

"Awww, that stinks. I hope you feel better soon!" Ariella replied. "That's great! I know a lot of people who are from Manchester....and thank you! I'm glad you like my name."

Heather smiled as she sat down beside Katrina. She sure seemed so nice. "A pleasure to meet you too, Katrina." she said politely and Katrina accepted her chocolate frog offer. Katrina had a very unique accent, making Heather wonder where Katrina came form, but she didn't ask that. Katrina asked her first if she was new. She shopk her head.

"N-No. I've been here in Hogwarts for three years now." she blushed a hue of light pink. Had Katrina been thinking she was a freshman? An honest mistake, yeah. After all, people always mistake Heather for a freshman if it was the first time they ever saw her. "I'm in my third year." she explained.

"A pleasure Zara." Heather said and shook Zara's hand. This girl seems quite nice, really. "Welcome to Hogwarts." she added, figuring Zara is a freshman after all. "ah....and it's nice to know you're in Gryffindor." silly little Heather, always with the broken sentences.

*Matilda started to get even more tired by every minute*

Matilda: I hope we leave soon to the Gryffindor tower.

" Yes, the fish is good, too" Willaim told Rosemary. " You are kind of shy, aren't you?" William asked Rosemary.

" Everything will be good in a few hours, I mean minutes" Willaim teased Matilda. " You will be happy to see the bes, that is very good" William said to Matilda. I will see you in the common room" Willaim told Matilda.

" Meeting people is very good" Willaim told Chris. You are a lot of fun" Wiliam said to Chris." Which professional Quidditch team do you like?" William asked Chria.

" Yes, it is me" Willaim told Fee. I guess Hugo being protective is a good thing" William said to Fee. Who finally got Hugo to admit he loves you?" Willaim asked Fee. " I really like Hugo, but I do get under his skin" Willaim explained to Fee.

" You will have your owl with you in the girls dorm" Willaim said to Zara. Food and sleep are great ideas" William agreed with Zara. " You have very pretty eyes" William said to Zara. " Of course, you are pretty, too" William smiled.

"Come on, I'm not that good. I just practice a lot. I'm sure if you practiced as much as me you'd be on the team without even blinking. And you should try out. Nothing is better than the feeling of flying. You feel like you can do anything. Like you have wings and when you touch the ground after your moment of perfect peace everything shatters, because you really are only yourself when you are in the air. Everything else comes second best to the feeling you get- the thrill," Selina said with her eyes dazing. Maybe that was not how he felt, but it was how she did.

Snapping out of her trance she looked at Hugo and blushed, "Sorry... so you had a good summer it seems. At least you have conquered that spell, most kids our age can't even attempt it."



Selina just smiled at everyone who was talking. She sat back and ate her food a little. Finding a good place to chime in Selina said, "My summer was good Caroline. A lot of Quidditch, getting ready for tryouts and stuff. What about you?"

Christopher wandered into the Great Hall, his stomach growling. He was so glad to be back, but he didn't have too many friends to look out for. He sat down by himself at the end of the table and put some salad on the plate before. He stirred it around idly, his head in the clouds. He was overjoyed to be back to his real home, but right now, he just kept finding himself to be quite distracted.

Matilda: Thanks William. You are so nice person but I guess I wait when the speech is over because I don't know the password to the fat lady and I mean the Gryffindor's common room's portrait.

As Jordan continued eating, he began to feel really tired. He was ready for bed. He began to be impatient and a little bit groggy. Tired + Impatient + Groggy = Jordan Needs Sleep. "Hope it's not long before they show us a bed." Jordan thought to himself.

Selina looked up from her group to see Chris sitting alone. She pulled herself out of the ameba of kids and called down to Chris, "Oi, Chris come down here and stop being a loner."
