Where The Quidditch Pitch
Who Can Attend Hogwarts students of all ages are welcome to attend
What to Bring Broomsticks are needed for the practical portion of the lesson.
Goggles and gloves are optional.
Anti-cheating quills will be available for the theoretical (located in the Bludgers and Broomsticks thread)
School broomsticks will be provided for First Years and for those who do not own their own broomsticks.
The Quidditch Stadium was the location for the practical portion of the Flying Final Exam. The broom rack containing the school brooms was located next to the main entrance to the field. But for those who knew the Flying Professor, it was rather odd for him to use the stadium in the days leading up to the championship game - in the past, he always kept the students off the grass and opted to use the school grounds for the finals.
It wasn't hard to find Professor Vindictus - he was leaning against the stands and was wearing the pirate hat. From his body language, it appeared that he was waiting for the pupils to arrive and to be seated on the grass before him.
Whaaaaooo... you go absent ten hours and THIS happens :O*catching up*

"I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation. Just remain calm and try to focus on the game. Someone has already gone to fetch some professor's. All will be solved in due time." Or at least that was what the lioness prefect hoped.
Louisa nodded, still frowning and swallowing tears, and decided to keep her close distance with the Prefect. She'd know what to do when those crazy people start attack them and eat 'em up. Becasue she was sure that was what it is about.. she did her research about certain tragedies in the world..
.. Madam Donovan was racing towards Professor Vee and the Groundskeeper appeared from nowhere- he was just as perplexed as the students. Louisa's fear increased. If one of the staff had no idea what was going on, then they were doomed! For real! She started sniffling.. the shouts from other crazy people were rising as well building the tension within the girl and she was tempted to close her eyes and just run away..
One step backward when she saw it happen. The racing Librarian was in Professor Vee's arms.. KISSSING! "Wha-" Louisa's eyes were base balls size and she didn't know what to think...
..only to see the blue mist engulf the locked couple and several others. "They're transforming?" the only explanation that escaped her lips. And then everything went back to normal..kind of. People falling on their knees, coughing, and the Groundskeeper hit the Professor after Donovan slapped him. Louisa gasped and snickered at the same time.. her wet eyes drying out quickly and the shakes leaving her body.
Looking around, she saw the Slytherin girl from Herbology, and the Huffie Prefect... the Gryffindor Prefect (macavity)sitting down looking confused. She kept her distance but couldn't help but ask him, "You're...you?"

It had all happened so fast, one minute she had been stood there with her wand held out to the stupid woman and then suddenly she had gone, or rather her spirit had gone. It was clear the Librarian was back. Amelia snarled under her breath, furious at what had just gone on. Despite being distracted by some fool skipping around her singing about wolves, she had watched every scene unfold before her eyes.
"You mean I have spent a YEAR in some DISGUSTING childs body just to find out that there IS NO treasure?!" she snapped, pure anger in her eyes. That would not do, she wanted treasure and she wanted it NOW!
She glanced around at the staring students. "You're all nutcases, every single last one of you" she hissed, and that included the strange professors, and that especially included the child singing about wolves, where was the relevance in that?! "Stupid snotty little children," she muttered to herself glaring and then glancing back up at the professors.

That was when a professor had approached her. Her lips fell into a sneer, her eyebrows shooting up and her head tilting to one side. "Guess this is when I should be going" she stated, trying apparition at first but failing. Oh dear. She was pretty much surrounded and the only other way out would be through the school gates, judging by the huge amount of students that were currently in the lesson and the various other Professors, although they seemed to be occupied, that task would be near on impossible. "That is none of your business" she spat, folding her arms, anger got to her.

'Yeah...' Rose brought down her shield. Everyone had turned back to normal. 'OMGOSH! Ronnie! Vindictus is KISSING Donovan!' Rose laughed. 'Well, might as well get on with the task!' Rose picked up her broomstick still chuckling.
She put it in the damaged beyond repair pile. It had worked fine in the first task, but then she had discovered the tail had bent 90 degrees, and the body of the broomstick was going to fall apart any minute. Then she had fallen to the ground, which had been to much for the broomstick. It was now split in two, the end had fallen off, and now most of the sticks at the end had fallen out... 'Stupid broomstick!' Rose cursed under her breath
Simon suddenly had an idea of how to get down and he didn't have to leave the lesson which he was sure would get him into trouble with the Professor, he tinkered with his broom himself, he was glad that he had read how to fix a broom and before long he had it fixed which was a good thing since if he didn't then who knew what could happen.
Simon flew towards the ground, he was not very happy and didn't want to talk to Professor Vindictus or whoever the crazy guy was, suddenly he realised that Professor Vindictus was speaking in his normal voice.
Simon put his broom in the undamage pile, though he didn't really trust the Professor with it expecially after what had happened in the air, he put it in the undamage pile because he had fixed it himself, maybe if he didn't become a Quidditch Player he could mend broomsticks, after a quick look at all the Professor's he left.

The professors had stopped kissing and where now punching each other. And there was some strange woman on the field, who she KNEW wasn't a professor, yelling about some treasure.
She needed to sit down.
Flopping back to the ground, legs splayed out in front of her, she shut her eyes and tried to clear her mind enough to make sense. What just happened, and what was all this talk of treasure?? She'd spotted her best friend with the little Slytherin, and in a minute she'd head over to him, cause he would know what was going on, but right now she needed the world to stop spinning.
Just for a minute.

After the Hufflepuff prefect had saved the Gryffindor girl from certain death, Ryden had decided to just stay put. Not move at ALL. That way, her broom wouldn't cause too much trouble. Instead, she merely watched - and there was plenty of entertainment to go around.
EW. WHY WAS HER HEAD OF HOUSE KISSING THE LIBRARIAN??!?!?! YEUCH. There were FIRSTIES here too! What were they thinking? She'd been under the impression that at least the PROFESSORS here were somewhat ok, but apparently not. Though clearly Professor V was out of his mind, what with the whole pirate act.
... And then the Groundskeeper came along. What was that blue light misty thing? Ryden stared and then blinked. All the mad pirates... were no longer pirates. Though the mad part, she wasn't so sure about. Eyes closing in on that annoying Gryffindor girl, Ryden smirked through the blood running down her face as she saw her calling pathetically for her boyfriend.
Pffft. And then she asked if she hurt anyone. "YEAH! ME!" she called out to her and pointed at her nose, but the coward was already running off towards her boyfriend. If he hadn't been annoying too, Ryden would have felt sorry for him.
Anyway. It seemed like a good time to drop to the ground now. Edging her broom forward carefully, her eyes widened as it raced down and jumped off it, landing with a roll with the useless broomstick crashed a few meters away. Grunting and blinking away the moisture in her eyes that resulted from the horrid throbbing of her nose, the brunette ungracefully got to her feet and grabbed her broom.
It was horribly dented and the twigs were a thing of the past, for most of them weren't even attached to the broom anymore. Taking note of the blackened areas where the fires had damaged it, Ryden felt another flare of annoyance for the Gryffindor girl. The IDIOT. She'd ruined her BROOM.
Flinging it with disgust in the pile that was forming, Ryden turned and walked towards the crowd. Her broom wouldn't be of use anymore... The thing couldn't be controlled anymore. It sped up constantly, leaned a lot more than it should to the left and generally didn't obey commands. Forget the fact that the braking charm was completely non existent anymore.
And now because of this final, she had lost her favourite broom. AND broken her nose. Ryden had a mind to go and yell at the professor when she realised something. Out of all the mad people, all but one had suddenly woken up and forgotten all about what happened.
All but one. That blonde woman, talking to the Arithmancy teacher, had been polyjuiced. HMM. Her left hand holding the bridge of her nose, she wiped the blood off her face as best as she could with her sleeve and strode over to the area of the woman and Professor Hadley. The brunette tried not to wince too much and crossed her arms over her chest.

The last sentence she said was so soft that even she had to think twice to notice if she had even said it, "Please be okay."

Realizing just where her hand was, Kurumi blushed and quickly pulled her hand away, her hair turning just the slightest shade of rosy pink.
Just then, Kurumi saw the figure of Sierra come rolling out of the blue mist and looking a little worse for wear. Kurumi owed Sierra a lot - although she didn't know what all the second year had done while as Kurumi, Kurumi knew that she had made a mess of Sierra's relationship with Conan.
"Y-You have been in Flying this whole time..." she replied fumbling in her pockets for a canary yellow handkerchief. "Casting spells, especially Aguamenti, up in the air...you just fell from your broom..." She handed her the handkerchief and smiled nervously.

After hearing his name again, he looked over to Sierra and...no, he still didn't think she looked too bad, blame Quidditch for that, but he still helped her up with both his hands. He didn't need to answer her questions, though, because Kurumi had done so, and even gave Sierra a handkerchief. How...nice, Sierra better be nice to Kurumi.
"You...didn't seem to be the only one in this situation, though," because Arya was also looking as lost as Sierra was.

Kurumi turned to Treyen. "I think Lexi needs me," she whispered offering him a slight smile. She handed him the handkerchief and then turned around.
Her broom still in her hands, Kurumi rushed over to Lexi's side. "L-Lexi, is that really you in there?" she asked as she knelt down and set her broom on the ground beside her. Kurumi braced herself for another smack across the face like had happen that one day on the 5th floor.

Er, yeah, Treyen took the handkerchief in case Sierra was going to need it and turned to her as soon as Kurumi was with Lexi.
Sierra hadn't realized Hollingberry had been around, and so she dropped the arms that had been extended to Treyen and turned to the Gryffindor girl. Her first instinct was to glare at her and to ask her why she thought Sierra needed her at a time like this. She bit back, though. A little voice in her head reminded her how weak and vulnerable she was right now.
...and in some weird kind of way, she'd become terrified and was strangely comforted by Kurumi's presence. Somewhere, in a nearby cemetery, the dead just rolled over in their respective graves.
Her eyes grew wide with horror. "Flying this whole time? Aguamenti from the air?" she asked. Why didn't she remember a single part of it, ...and why had she been casting a spell like Aguamenti in the air of all places? Her face turned a shade whiter, and she buried her face in the palm of her hands for a few seconds.
She looked up when Treyen said she wasn't the only one who'd been that way. "Who else?" she asked, taking the handkerchief he held out, "...and what happened?" Still, no one had answered that question. Did anyone even know? She wiped the handkerchief across her face then weakly put the palms of her hands on the ground and pushed herself up. She wobbled a little at first, but then she was standing steadily.

Sophie nodded in the young snakes direction "That is understandable." Until everyone had changed back to who they really were it was best not mention anything about pirates and so on. It was probably the job of the staffer's anyway to reveal what they had been through. The lioness prefect said "That makes two of us. I don't know what's really been going on either. Do you remember coming out here to the pitch?" Being focused on her studies, being sick with flu and her prefect duties had isolated her from what had been going on. So if the young snake she would have no good answer.

The response he got at first from both Selina and Sophie wasn't entirely comforting to Simon...did no one know? However he turned his attention fully to his teammate and friend as she explained some of his actions taking him completely by surprise. Though coming from Selina, the captain was pretty sure all she was saying was indeed true, setting aside any doubts in the actuality. "Wow..." was all he could get out.
Him and Jacob...doing WHAT? Speaking like Pirates? Sherman and Captain Vindictus?
Simon held his head with a hand again as he tried to make as much sense as he could, the boy having the strange feeling he was going to need a lot of filling in. He nodded as Sophie explained she couldn't help any futher, not holding anything against her because of it. "Its ok..." he assured her, accepting the offered glass of water. "Thank you," he added taking a few slow sips.
"Well then I'm glad that its over...at least I hope its over," he remarked with a soft smile and a sigh half in relief that whatever was happened seemed to have come to its final conclusion. His eyes starting to move back over the various other people around including staff and students.
Keeping her distance from all the weird people struggling to figure out what was going on, Louisa decided to do something productive.. and in this case, it meant GETTING RID OF BROOMSTICKS. She was planning that the whole time her broom was acting stupid and getting bumped and all that, now it seemed very tempting to do so.
The thirteen year old went over to her laid down broom and grabbed it, dragging it VERY disrespectfully to the three piles on one side of the Stadium. Louisa threw it in the undamaged pile for its shape was almost perfect.. except for a few pulled out hairs from the back which probably wasn't a damage- her muggle mom never threw a broomstick away when her brother plucked some out! She did want to get rid of it though, it was taking halts in the air without the permission of the rider, it headed down to the ground too when the person never asked for it. Stirring it to directions was a bit hard too.. or maybe it was something to do with her hugging the broom and closing her eyes at the end- that was never good for directing a broom.
Meh. The Ravenclaw took one last glance and her broom and started walking out of the Stadium looking at the weird people in sympathy on her way out. She wasn't going to risk getting near ANY of them before the nurse or the Headmaster saw them first and declared that they were completely sane and un-piraty. That was for sure.

This was too weird for Isobel. She just wanted to get out of there and take a nap or something. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her broom; she hadn't run into anybody because she thought it was mean. Did she still have to give it to him? "Professor, can I keep my broom?" It was hers after all, and it wasn't damaged.

Kurumi looked down at the two brooms that laid on the ground beside where Lexi had once been. Looking up for a moment, Kurumi was just able to catch a glimpse of the older lioness before she disappeared from the Quidditch pitch. The third year frowned slightly and then pushed herself up off the ground, dusting off any flakes of dirt and grass that managed to attach themselves to her uniform. Her eyes glanced over at the three piles of brooms and then at the two she now held in her hands. Not sure about how to identify if a broom was fixable or not, Kurumi pulled out a piece of parchment, decided that both merited another chance, and headed towards the damaged pile of brooms.

This broom was used by Lexi Denver and I am not sure how it performed in the air
Kurumi attached the parchment to the broom and added it to the pile of brooms before moving on to her own broom which seemed to be in better shape than the school broom.

Broom would not follow directions. Went faster when commanded to stop, began bouncing when told to go faster, etc.
Kurumi then added her broom to the pile and a frown appeared on her face again. Hadn't she promised Simon that she would take good care of his broom? She could still see the engraving on her broom, so at least she had been able to keep that part from being damaged. She hadn't snapped it in half or anything...that was good.
Looking back over at Professor Vindictus and secretly wondering who was going to punch him in the face next Kurumi bowed quickly and then made her way back towards the castle.
No more flying until next term thank you very much.

But when his voice then reached her ears and her face snapped back down to look him in the eyes. He looked so lost and confused, but what puzzled Selina was that he seemed to have no idea where he was and what was happening to him. She looked at Sophie briefly as if trying to translate to the older girl- how do I explain this, but his eyes were on her and she knew that he was asking her.
"Well you see, I really don't know. You've been acting odd for a really long time now, but it only started to get really odd a few weeks ago. You see... you were at the lake and you and Jacob threw Simon into the water and were kind of being really mean. After that you acted differently and a couple other people and you spoke like pirates.. all the time. I passed it off as nothing, but I guess that was stupid of me. Then just now you said that you were Sherman and Vindictus was your Captain and you were attacking people in the Flying exam and then there was this mist and now you're here... and your okay."
That last sentence made Selina feel really good. He was okay... no more odd Simon. That one scared her.
Although she knew she wasn't being spoken directly to, Sierra couldn't help but listen in on what Selina was telling Simon. Later on, when she wasn't feeling so terrible and maybe even embarrassed, too, she might find Selina and see if the girl knew anything about how she'd acted, as well. It made her uneasy, though, imagining what happened.

Do you remember coming out here to the pitch?" Being focused on her studies, being sick with flu and her prefect duties had isolated her from what had been going on. So if the young snake she would have no good answer.
"The last thing I remember," Sierra answered, turning back to Sophie, "is being knocked back onto the ground and seeing the blue mist." She shrugged. "Have I been out here the whole time? In this class, I mean." She felt more vulnerable now than she'd ever felt before, and she could only hope that the prefects' attention toward her was sympathy and not for entertainment purposes. "I'm not feeling well," she said. "I'm going to put up a few brooms and then head back to the castle."
As she started to walk away, she turned back to both Treyen and Sophie. "Thanks," she said with a small smile.

It's obvious that Professor Vindictus isn't in the best shape to continue with the lesson and has realized that something is wrong with his broomsticks.
Return the brooms and sort them into three (3) different piles - destroyed, damaged (but fixable), and undamaged. When placing your broom in the pile, please describe the broom (is the handle broken? tail twigs burnt off? etc.) and how it performed for you in the air (was it wobbly? did you soar higher than intended? etc.) The more descriptive you are regarding the broom's condition, the more points you can receive (I'm looking at the quality of the post versus how many posts you made).
It's perfectly acceptable to be interacting with others as you complete this task - this choice is yours. Once you have returned your broom, you are free to leave the lesson.
This thread will be closed at 11pm EST tomorrow (Thursday).
Sierra picked up the first broom she came to. It looked pretty decent, and so she carried it over to the pile of brooms that didn't seem to have any damage whatsoever. She had no idea who'd been on it. She had just come to--apparently having been possessed or something, the same as Simon and maybe a few others, too--so she had no idea who'd been on what broom. She didn't even know what broom she'd been on. Nevertheless, she took a few careful looks around the broom she was holding. It wasn't the best model, nor did she imagine it was purchased recently, but she knew enough about Quidditch to see that this broom was still in good riding condition. The twigs were in line and the broom stick was still sturdy. Yup, into the undamaged pile it went.
She turned around and picked up the next nearest broom. It was damaged, but fixable, she thought. A few of the tail twigs were bent upward and facing in all different directions, but it didn't seem like anything a good Broomstick Serving Kit couldn't take care of. She looked at the handle, noticing that it looked scratched, but it wasn't terribly bad. It was nothing some polish couldn't take care of. She walked a few feet to the left and dropped it carefully into the stack of damaged, yet fixable, brooms. Yup. That was the best place for it. Death hadn't met the broom just yet.
One more turn and a few walks forward lead her to a broom that had clearly met its end. It wasn't even in one piece anymore. It was in three pieces. The handle was cracked in half, and the twigs were laying in a spot by themselves a foot away from the two pieces of the handle. Sierra bent down by the broom and started gathering the pieces together. From what she'd heard from Kurumi and Sophie, she wondered if this was the broom she'd been on. They'd said she'd done some pretty crazy things while out of it, such as casting Aguamenti up in the air and apparently showering everyone. She scooped up the remaining pieces of twigs and carried them and the pieces of the handle to the stack of brooms that were clearly destroyed.
Selina watched as all of her Peers started to collect their things and put the brooms into the three piles as Vindictus had instructed. Looking around all of the students who haad participated in the final, like herself, all looked exhausted and more importantly confused. This entire final had not gone exactly as Selina had planned. Then again since Vindictus had returned from that meeting via Tate this whole experience of flying this term had been odd. If she never heard one more pirate saying in her life it would be too soon.
Then she followed the lead of the rest of her class mates and gathered up the broom that she had picked to partake in the Final and looked it over. The handle was a bit worn and the tail was starting fall apart because the first part of the lesson Caroline was trying to throw her from her broom.
So she went over to the Damaged pile and started to fill out a form.
Quote:
Selina Skylar- Broomstick is Damaged but Fixable
The handle is worn from the frantic flying and duel between myself and Caroline, Slytherin sixth year, during the first portion of the Final. It has chipped wood and the logo of the broomstick will need to be repainted. The tail of the broomstick is a little messed up and out-of-order. This is also from Caroline and the first part of the Final. The two broomsticks had a collision mid-air and she grabbed onto the back of my broom and kicked it.
Waddaya mean 'why'? Vindictus, man, why are you playing dumb?
"...You kissed Kimber! And...and...obviously she did not want to be kissed by you," he answered. Personal life was nothing for the students to hear. "Why did you kiss her!?"
Ohhh, now he was feeling bad for breaking Max's nose. Why couldn't he be all bad and what not for once without his guilt kicking in. Ugh.
"Are you okay? You look a little woozy. And...why were you calling Kimber 'Charlotte'?" Or...better yet, what the heck was going on!?
Vindictus stared at Stryker with a dumbfounded look and used his wand to conjure a small towel. "Kith her? Not eben! I wath kisthing a hot thrawbewry bwonde wif blue eyeths," he said while holding the towel up to his bleeding nose. Seriously, was Chad truly that thick? Kimber was a brunette with brown eyes! And he said that the woman was named Charlotte, just like in his dream!
"Tho you sthaw her!"
Wait a minute. How could Chad see his dreams?

A loud snapping sound caught Vindictus's attention and he felt his stomach sink.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he shouted and got to his feet. The movement was quick and he felt rather light headed as his nose continued to bleed. But he had to deal with the broomicide before anyone else decided to copy the Gryffindor.
Vindictus staggered over to the first year and stared at her over the towel that blocked some of his view. "Twenty-five poinths from Gryffindor for . . . for broomicide!"
Before he could continue his tirade, he noticed that Josephina had arrived and she was dealing with a strange woman.

Despite being distracted by some fool skipping around her singing about wolves, she had watched every scene unfold before her eyes.

The world was slowly tilting back and forth, and Vindictus was having trouble focusing his eyes. "Are you Charlotte?" he asked the stranger.

No one . . . No one . . . Told Josephina Hadley to mind her own business, when this blond woman was her business. She was some complete stranger who stole the identity of a child and trespassed on Hogwarts grounds for no less than year! Not to mention she seemed rather snippy about the children.
"You. Are not going anywhere!" Hadley exclaimed, fingers wrapping tighter around her wand. "Except back to the castle." This was out of her hands now. Surely the Headmaster would know what to do with this trespasser.

The loud shouting voice of Max caught the brunette's attention. She had been so preoccupied with the trespasser that she hadn't even heard the broom-snapping. But broomicide? Well that was . . . creative.
Charlotte? Who was Charlotte? Surely Max wasn't still obsessing over her was he? "I think ... you ... better come with." Then perhaps a visit to the healer would be in order; he needed to be in top shape for the looming Quidditch Championships. And the librarian should come too, but she imagined Kimber would be easier to persuade? Maybe.

"Otay," answered Max as he swayed on his feet. "Ath Deputy Headmathter, I want tho quethion this thranger. Thad's coming, thoo." He pointed to Chad and motioned for him to join them.
When did it get so bright outside?
