Rose walked to the Flying Final. This was the one she wanted to do well in. This was the one she was most looking forward to. 'Good day Professor!' Rose said as she sat down in front of the Pirate and waited for it to begin.

Approaching the Professor, Thea nodded at him as she swept her dakr hair out of her face. 'Hello, Professor!' She called as she took a seat.

Wrapping her robes aorund her, she settled down to wait for the rest of her classmates.

Remember, the pupils think yer a laddie named Vindictus. I'll give 'em a lesson they never be forgettin!

He nodded at the two Gryffindors. "We'll be startin' the lesson soon," Barnabus/Vindictus replied.

AYE! Cap'n Barnabus was teaching a class! Seeing as Thomas LOOKED like a child he may as well attend a class. Heh.

"AYE! Ca... Professor!" Silverbeard!Lexi exclaimed as he/she tromped out onto the pitch and then gave her Cap'n a wink with his/her good eye. Heh. "Look'n forward to the... errr... Lessson?"

Simon had decided that he would come to the flying lesson even though he was still scared that the Professor was annoyed with him, even though he was only trying to be thoughful and give the Professor a gift. "Good day Professor Vindictus." Simon smiled. "How are you?"

In spite of being an exam day, Eino was particularly happy. He had significantly improved his flying skills without breaking any bones in the process. Plus, he didn't feel too bad about the exam, he had studied and practice a little, and hopefully that would suffice. He had made his way to grounds but was surprised to hear that class had moved to the quidditch stadium. That place was sacred to Professor Vindictus, but it was the final exam so maybe they were playing quidditch or another one of the sports they had learned about in their previous lesson. He made his way to the stadium and wave to the Professor as he arrived. To his surprised, Professor Vindictus was wearing that same hat he had been glued to for a while. He raised an eyebrow and suspiciously made his way to a comfortable spot as he waited for class to begin.

"ARRR! Where be me other mateys?" Barnabus/Vindictus greeted the pupils who just arrived. He gave them a rascally grin and crossed his arms.

"Arrrr! Rules are meant to be broken," he began, "And when ye be flyin' about on these fancy broomsticks, ye need to protect yerself. Any of you lads and lassies know what yer not supposed to do in the air when flying?"

Simon/Sherman was not a happy camper. First the flying around on brooms high in the sky and being hit by by other flying things and now he was headed to a flying class as per the captain's wishes. He...Sherman Buffington who was not a fan of heights by any means. He prefered to leave those bloody tasks up to Fishlips who enjoyed them.

Blimey!

With a sigh the sailor walked out onto the field, spotting the captain and surgeon already there amongst the various landlubbers. "Right here Cap'tn" he replied with a nod as Barnabus asked where his crew was. The man stood off to one side as he much prefered to remain standing.

Isobel was actually looking forward to this exam. She didn't see any reason not to do good in it, in the practical part at least, she was a Quidditch captain. "Hello professor," she said cheerfully, taking a seat on the grass next to Simon. "Hi." Then she turned her attention back to the professor.

What were they not supposed to do? Uhh...what kind of a question was that? "Um...you're not supposed to...jump off? Or...run into other people." Sometimes you did though. Run in to people, she meant, not jump off. What kind of crazy person would do that?

Erm.... "I reckon ye ain't supposed to jump off ye broom while ye is in the airrrrrrr." That was one thing that was like... not safe he reckoned.

Ummm... what? Eino looked around at his classmates nervously. He was still pretending to be a pirate? Hadn't the Headmaster done something about this? Maybe the rumors were right, it was time for Professor Vindictus to required. A few too many bludgers to the head and you think you're a pirate. He raised his hand regardless. "You're supposed to, ummm, not fall?"

Simon looked at the Professor. "You aren't suppost to fly off into the distance and end up in London or somewhere like that." Simon was sure that wouldn't be allowed.

Rules for flying...pfft! There be only one rule at least in Sherman's mind. "Nothin'...ye not supposed to be flying at all..." he remarked aloud crossing his arms in front of his chest.

Selina looked oddly at Professor Vindictus who was apparently under the impression that he was in fact a Captain. But who was she to judge him going through his mid/late life crisis? "Well sir, you shouldn't attempt to knock another person off their broom, unless its Quidditch, but even then that isn't the best thing in the world to do."

"ARRRR! You lot can do better than that!" barked Barnabus/Vindictus. "Use yer brains if ye've got 'em!"

'Fall of the broom?' Rose said matter-of-factly.

"Dun set fire to other's brooms?" Although... Thomas thought that was an excellent idea. Heh. He would LOVE to do that. Oooh perhaps Barnabus would let them get on brooms... he hadn't flown in... too many years.

Isobel officially thought Vindictus was...crazy. And that Gryffindor boy, Simon? Wasn't he the captain? Why did he say you weren't supposed to fly at all. "You shouldn't...fly underwater." She had no idea if that would even work, but she was pretty sure you shouldn't do it, even if you could.

Neptune Bott, having a wild hair obviously, had sauntered down to the flying final - more to watch that participate, but who knew? Her time at Hogwarts was close to being finished, so why not fly a bit?

She raised her hand, "A thousand pardons, Professor, but perhaps this lesson would be more to the benefit of all if we started with a bit of grammar. Priorities, you know? One should know how to speak before they're allowed to take a flying final."

Especially YOU, Lexi Denver. Neptune gave her the Bott look.

Simon had a sudden thought. "Don't set fire to the school by flying near it then getting out your wand and using the fire spell." Simon had no idea why the Professor didn't like the answer they had given.

Why was that young lass looking at him as such? Welllll HEEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOO there! Yeah, Thomas saw that LOOK. That look that CLEARLY said HEEEELLLLLLLOOOO. Mhm.

Following suit Thomas raised his hand and looked at Barnabus. "I reckon that young lassie there can share me broom, Cap'n. Aye!" Just to drive the point home Thomas gave a little whistle through his teeth and winked his good eye at the young lassie.

Eino nodded at the Ravenclaw girl in agreement, but didn't say anything else. He would very much like to know why Professor Vindictus was talking funny. Maybe he had been hexed by a student, or a Professor... or a house-elf? In any case, he didn't seem like his usual self. Why wasn't he punishing people for saying absurd things, like setting a broom on fire? Professor Vindictus would never tolerate such behavior. After hesitantly raising his hand, Eino said: "We should remain seated and never stand on it."

"Lassie, grammar ain't gonna help ye in the real world," replied Barnabus/Vindictus. "Ye'd better watch and listen or yer be in a world o' peril."


He nodded at Thomas. "She be yers when we take to the skies."

A few mentioned fire but no blood. Disappointing.

"Fire! ARRR! Great weapon to use and ye set the broom on fire." There was a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. "Use yer elbows and give a good jab in the ribs. The stick be good at breakin' fingers - just watch that yer own don't get crushed. Or me favorite - yer fist. A good blow to yer enemy's nose and eyes will have 'em reeling."

"Lemme hear some more, lads and lassies!"

Thomas nodded his thanks to the Cap'n and then turned to wink at the young lass once more. Heh. "Ye could conjure hammers and throw 'em at yer opponents, Cap'n. I mean... if this lot is that good wif magic tha' is." He gave a snort... not really convinced that they knew the difference between a wand and a tree branch.
