He chuckled. Her brothers sounded like trouble makers, to Dallin. "So they're younger than you?" he assumed. She had probably already told him the answer, but they hadn't talked for a while, so he thought it was reasonable that he'd forget.
"You don't?" he laughed, surprised. She was the only other person he knew that didn't like milk. Most people - including his family - thought he was crazy because he didn't like it. He nodded when she showed him her own Bertie Botts, and lowered his own, setting them in his bag. "So," he said slowly, not really knowing what to say, "Do you think it's as crazy as I do to be on the way to Hogwarts?"
Aimée shook her head at the memory of her brothers. "Yes, and identical. Zey start first year in Eton today," she said, chuckling a little. It would be good for her dad to be on his own again, though. Although the twins would be back for half term, and Christmas, whereas she would stay at Hogwarts. "Your sisters are older, yes?" she asked, sure that they sounded it.
"No, I prefer orange juice," she said with a smile. "Alzough I am surprised you don't - most people zink I am... ahem, strange." That was true, especially Luc, the younger of the twins, who was mad about it.
"I zink I do, if you zink it es extremely crazy. To zink I won't be returning to Beauxbatons is odd, zough."

Alex turned around and laughed glancing at the small firsties surrounding their feet like... Well, like ants really. Huh.
"Yeah I know, they're pretty cute though." He smiled as he spotted a small girl falling over, oh she was up again good. Weird little creatures.
Looking up at the girl in front of him he smiled politely. "I'm Alex nice to meet you." Satine? Cool name, plus she was a Claw... Did she know Ellie perhaps? He shouldn't ask that the first thing he did.
"I'm a transfer so I can't really tell you my house yet." he chuckled. But how cool would it be to introduce himself as third year Slytherin? "I'm in my third year."
Satine smiled back at the boy satisfied that her joke had made him smile. "Yes, I guess they are cute but only when they are sleeping since only then are they not in the way or bugging us..." she said with a wink and a small giggle as she followed his eyes towards a little firstie that had tripped...ooo poor thing...how embarassing...
She turned back around as he introduced himself to her, "Well 'ello Alex, it's nice to meet you as well." she said once again with her sparkling white smile and thick Texas accent that no matter how long she stayed away stayed with her. She focused on the trolley candies just for a second and then realized that she probably looked like she was starring off into no where so she focused back in on the conversation.
"O a transfer student....hmmm...where from?" she asked as she cocked her right bright purple eyebrow up. "I've actually been away from Hogwarts for one year studying abroad. Maybe I attending your old school for a few weeks." she said thinking about the nine schools she visited and studying his face and dialect and accent trying to decide in her mind where he went...hmmm...America? France? Australia? Antartica? no no no...maybe it was the African? or even South American Wizarding School.
While she thought her stomach growled a little bit and she glanced impatiently at the front of the line trying hard to keep herself from drooling over the delicious and beautimous licorice wands...yummy....

She should read Witch-Weekly.
"Er, it has been awful--sometimes--the measures the Wizarding Community has taken in order to maintain the Secrecy," so, really, this was nothing, nothing at all.
He eyed Vashti, surely she'd have a better way with words. He could only do smiles.
True. "I know, that's the weird part, right? They've never been at the trolley before," surely a Seventh Year could come and clarify it?
Pffft. No need.
But he'd been right about one thing. Vashti did have a way with words. She managed to explain to Kurumi much better than he had. And now he actually wished he'd never mentioned the cupcakes to Kurumi, because Vashti was not the one meant to have one of those.
Jake was.

Especially not here at the food trolley." 'Cause, well, generally the food trolly was only for food, candy-type food specifically. They didn't sell Daily Prophets here, did they?
New and a bit alarming? Where had she heard that before? Had she never seen a Quibbler before either? And were the articles in it really that bad? Vashti looked at the word, or rather, group of words, she was pointing at and was about to answer when Treyen cut in.
Kurumi! That was the girl's name! That's right, Vashti remembered it quite clearly now. Wait, he had cupcakes? He wanted to go to the trolley when he had cupcakes?
But she tried not to think about the food right now. There were more interesting things to talk about for the moment.
"i'm not sure 'allows' is the right word," she said thoughtfully. "More like 'makes sure they don't find about us and magic.'" Kurumi didn't think it was a good statue? "Why not? I mean, it was passed to stop all the witch-burnings and things like that where the Muggles were mistreating witches and wizards. And I think it also helps stop prejudiced witches and wizards from constantly and publicly torturing Muggles because they don't want to go to Azkaban for breaking the Statute." Unless they were, like, really insane. Then those prejudiced ones probably didn't care whether they got sent to Azkaban.
Kurumi thought long and hard about what both of them had said. The boy had one of the cleanest most sparkley smiles she had ever seen, but he certainly didn't really have a way with words. She still felt like she had seen that picture somewhere in all the reading she had done...Anyhow, when Vashti spoke things became a lot more clear. Spoken like a true Ravenclaw. "That makes sense," Kurumi nodded, but her thought immediately went to her mother. Perhaps it really was best that knowledge of the wizarding world didn't get out. If all non-magical people reacted to it the way her mother did when around Kurumi and her brothers, there would be chaos that would wreck havoc on their villiage and cause so much more pain and suffering. "They probably would take away our wands..." she said sadly not really making much sense she was sure to the other two.

Vashti nodded in agreement. The sudden appearance of the Quibbler was quite weird. "Wonder who put them here?" she asked aloud. The Quibbler used to be edited by Xenophilius Lovegood, right? So who owned it now? Vashti didn't know. Perhaps she ought to look that up. Maybe that person had a kid who went to Hogwarts, and he or she had put them here. Because who else would?
She was removed from her thoughts as Kurumi spoke again. Vashti smiled a little, glad she could clear up the purpose and usefulness of the Statute for the young Gryffindor, but what she said next confused Vashti a little. "Who's taking away whose wands?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Smile, boy, smile. He was better off doing that, apparently.
And so he did, when Kurumi said it made sense. Of course, he knew she was talking to Vashti, because his explain made little at all. Good thing he could smile.
But then...wands? Oh, where was his wand?! Right, right, right there on his pocket. Good. He wouldn't want to miss it again. "Wands?" all of them? He shrugged and shook his head, "No, they'll probably just--," kill the Muggles? Yeah, he wasn't going to say that, "Actually, Kurumi, you don't need to worry about anything, you've done nothing wrong, really," he said, with another smile.

Oh my Gilderoy! Constant vigilance! So, Headmaster Tate had failed, miserably. "What if someone wanted them to be spotted by us?" okay, perhaps it was slightly extreme, but no, yeah, too extreme, "Or a publicity thing, you know? Perhaps," he was still eying the magazine rather curiously, the rest of the articles seemed harmless enough.
"Do you want one?" Hahaha, as if it wasn't enough what he'd said earlier, he was now offering one to Vashti.

Kurumi blinked several times. She had been so lost in her own thoughts that she forgot she was talking to two other people in front of a candy trolley. "Wha?" She said looking around like a baby deer caught in the the headlights of oncoming traffic. "Oh, um, well...my mother takes mine away..." Kurumi paused for a moment trying to figure out how best to word this without making her mother look like some monster. She loved her mother, and her mother had always been there for her, but there was this side to her...this dark and mysterious side that Kurumi never had answers to. "She is non-magical and is so afraid of everything to do with magic that she even has me wear brown colored contacts," she explained pointing to her violet eyes. "I don't even know why they are violet or why mother is so afraid of magic that we can't even have our wands in the house. Father won't say anything. He gets really sad whenever myself or my brothers ask..."
Kurumi looked up with some small hot tears forming in her eyes, but then she caught one of Treyen's smiles and the gleam was enough to make her eyes water. At least now she had a way of covering up her crying, right? Just blame the smiling boy. It was too early in the term to be crying.

"I zink I do, if you zink it es extremely crazy. To zink I won't be returning to Beauxbatons is odd, zough."
Ahh, now he remembered. She had twins in her family, too. Younger, little-sibling twins. Now those had to be fun to live with. "Yeah, I have four older sisters - the two that still live at home are twins." And they weren't really that annoying, just embarrassing some times. Take the platform, for example.
"Water's my first choice," he said with a chuckle. "Same here! My whole family thinks there's something wrong with me. Especially since I'm not lactose intalerant or anything, and I just don't like the taste of milk." It seemed like he was starting to find quite a few things he had in common with Aimée... except the cool accent. He wanted one of those.
He nodded, smiling. "I think I know what you mean, although I'm sort of glad I'm not going to be going back to Merlin's." Not that it was a bad school, but it was nice to go to a place where no one knew him, and no one knew his family, and he didn't have to live up to his sisters.
Kurumi jumped back so far that she nearly went crashing into the trolley - that would have been a disaster. Candy rolling all over the floor...not to mention all the chocolate frogs that may have escaped and then melted into tiny puddles of chocolate goo. "S-S-S-Simon," she gasped catching her breath. "S-S-S-Sorry, you startled me." She saw Simon pointing to the Quibbler in her hand. "Oh, this? Well, um, this is a wizarding paper," she explained rather lamely. Simon probably already knew that much.
"Hey, sorry about that." Simon smiled, sheepishly. Oops, he should probably warn someone when he spoke to them. "Yeah...I kind of know that...do you know what it means though?" he asked. This was a strange paper, he should just have left it alone, but now his curiosity has been sparked.

Kurumi blinked several times. She had been so lost in her own thoughts that she forgot she was talking to two other people in front of a candy trolley. "Wha?" Hmmm. Treyen listened, quite intently too, and truth be told he had his wand taken away as soon as he bought it, but he never had to go through it after his Second Year. He'd figured it was something normal, since he'd broken one of his sisters when he was little.
And since they weren't allowed to do magic anyway, then it was all good with him.
"I had mine taken away too, until two years ago, I guess...safety reasons," he shrugged, hoping it will make Kurumi feel better? Because there was something in there that didn't make sense. He didn't understand the contact lenses thing, for one. And he couldn't understand the way her mother acted because he'd lost his before he could possibly know how his mother reacted to magical stuff. He'd never asked his sister about her, though.
"It's okay...she just wants you safe, I think," but he truly didn't know, did he?
Then his eyes widened and he, yes, panicked. Why was she crying?! He didn't have a tissue or anything! Oh, Kurumi! Why are you crying?!"You...okay, Kurumi?" his voice gave away the panic he was now feeling. He hadn't made her cry, had he?! But his eyes caught some tissues on the trolley and he took them, well, just two of those, and extended them towards the little Gryffindor. No, he couldn't speak.
Ara was having the time of her life so far. There were boys everywhere which explained the permanent grin on her face at the moment. She was loving this Hogwarts school so far yet not forgetting that it was a CASTLE she was about to spend the next year in, she felt like a princess. Now the only thing was the House she was going to belong too, she had no clue. She also had no clue as to what the different Houses meant but so far that Ravenclaw had some yummy boys in it, that was for sure, at least the Prefect was yummy.
She bounced her way into the line, her mind clearly somewhere else as she was not paying attention to those around her. Boys were her life at the moment and Corvus was going to get an earful the next time she ran into him because he was the one boy on her POOP list, that was for sure. She placed her hands behind her back, swaying back and forth while staring up at the ceiling.

Someone wanted them to find this? OH MERLIN! If that was it, then it was TOTALLY that hedgehog-knarl-thing he had! It really WAS an evil wizard mastermind in disguise!!!
...
No, it probably wasn't. But if someone did want them to see the Quibblers, then who would it be? Were there other suspicious-looking people on the train?
Or yeah, it could just be for publicity. "But why put them here just this year? Why weren't they here last year or the year before?" Etc, etc. Maybe they'd only just gotten a new editor? Perhaps. She was definitely going to look all this up in the library once she got the chance.
"I think I will get one, actually," she answered, glancing back down at the magazine. Buying one would probably help with the research, right?

Oh, her mom took her wand away? Well, that could be understandable for a punishment she supposed, like how Muggle kids got their phones or computers taken away if they were bad. But Kurumi didn't seem like a bad kid so... Oh. Her mother was afraid of magic. That was why. And that was...well, it was both understandable in a way, because Vashti could see how magic would be frightening to non-magical people - her parents had been quite surprised and even a bit afraid when she'd gotten her Hogwarts letter four years ago - but it was also quite sad too because Kurumi's mother's fear was obviously hurting her and probably her brothers too.
Hesitating only a moment, she laid a gentle hand on the Gryffindor's shoulder. "I'm sorry to hear that," she said softly. "But you don't have to worry about anything like that at Hogwarts. No one's going to do any of that here." It was all she could think to say. Thank goodness Treyen was here as well to say the things that Vashti couldn't think of - and to grab the tissues that she hadn't noticed.

Ivan walked over to the food trolley apparently as it was called, or as he was told it was called. Standing in line he looked up and spotted a girl who looked familiar staring at the ceiling and swaying. He tried to place where he knew her from and then laughed. The girl who was with that boy he tried to steal her from. "So I still owe you that butterbeer," he said with a smirk. Well it wasn't his fault Lexi did such a fantastic job in distracting him.

Kurumi shook her head. She was just as confused as Simon was. "I'm not sure," she said turning the paper over. The Quibbler clearly had an angle and it was very much against anything and everything the wizarding world was doing to keep itself a secret from non-magical folk. "I saw a poster in Diagon Alley over the summer," she said more thinking aloud than anything. "I think...that poster and this Quibbler are connected."
SPOILER!!: Kurumi clone #2

"T-t-thanks," Kurumi whimpered taking the tissues from Treyen. The, she started giggling softly. The look of utter panic on his face was amusing. "Treyen, a smile suits you better," she said dabbing a few more tears from her eyes. She smiled up at the two older students. She was a little embarrassed, perhaps even ashamed, that she was crying right now. She had told herself that she was going to be stronger on the subject. Must have been all the emotions flying around right now: the excitement of going back to school, the mystery revolving around this paper, talking about her past...it all could be very overwhelming for a 12-year-old.

Ara stopped swaying as someone began speaking their name. This was slightly odd. She opened her eyes to find another boy standing next to her with WHITE teeth. "Ohhh, hello, Joey Starr," she mocked the person that called themselves Joey Starr.

Sticking his hands in his pockets he rocked back on his heels and smiled as the girl turned his way. What was her name...what was her name...? He couldn't remember. Oh well. "Well I don't want a lingering debt over my head," he said with a wink and then asked "What'll you have?" He smirked and gave the girl a charming smile.

But look, Vashti had done a much better job in trying to calm Kurumi. Sigh. I think we know what Treyen needs to work on, right?
Since he was still speechless, mostly because he didn't want to dare messing things up, he merely nodded as if accepting her 'Thanks'. It was the least he could do, since he had a feeling that he, Treyen Lockhart, had managed to make a little girl cry. If Aaron was here he'd probably laugh about it, if Arya was here, she'll be consoling the poor girl, surely.
And then...what? He laughed, very loudly (by the way) at her next comment, "You're probably right," he said, as he ventured another smile. Just, not one of those charming smiles. It was enough for today. Kurumi was a smart one, stating the obvious.
"Vashti is right, you know? You don't to worry," he said, with a nod, "I'd read about Nargles, instead, they don't exist but are very fun to read about," he winked, turning a couple pages on her magazine.

Why did he have the feeling she was already blaming someone for this? Er, never mind. She probably wasn't.
Kurumi's tears just got to him, that was all.
"I--don't know, perhaps they have a new Editor?" he had no idea who the former Editor was, so there was no real way of figuring that out. "Or...just forget I said anything? This is probably nothing," and he'd become a master at overreacting about little things and details, like Saylen wanting to have him dead? Yeah, that was soooo real.
"Here," he said, passing one along. She was a brave one, was she not?

Now she was being invited to a train compartment by....A GIRL? What in Merlin's beard was going on? If this was how all the girls acted, like boys that is, no wonder all the boys were hitting on her. "Actually I have met a few boys," she faked a smile towards the person that was obviously a female now. "And I apologize but I already have a compartment with someone." LIE! That was a LIE but she was hoping that Mr. Prefect would come back to where she was and spend more time with her.

"Yes, lingering debts are horrible." What was this boys name again? Oh who cares! His eyes were captivating enough for her to forget even if he told her. "I'll haveeee...." Her green eyes looked towards the candy. No jelly beans, that was for sure. "A chocolate frog, please."

Aw, it appeared that Simon would have to ask his parents about this Quibbler thing then. He really wanted to know what it meant or maybe ask a professor at Hogwarts...that'd be better. "Really...that's odd." he said. The boy had been too distracted by the sweet shop that he didn't pay attention to anything else. Hmph. Great, he must of had missed on some good information.

"It's probably nothing," Kurumi said not really believing what she was saying herself. "I've heard that this is more of a tabloid magazine than anything else. Still...if it were only a tabloid, why would there be strange posters and graffiti all over Diagon Alley?" Now that didn't make any sense.

"Aren't those the creatures that are known to infest mistletoe?" Kurumi asked rather seriously as she flipped through the pages. "Don't they steal things....like tennis shoes or chocolate frogs?" Yep, Kurumi was distracted already. Any time a creature was mention, she went right into curious mode.

That shouldn't break the bank, should it?" She asked with a grin.
Mia was totally perplexed as to why he was looking at her like that. What had she said? And then her face blushed a little at the mention of Nik. "Oh sorry about that." But secretly she wasn't sorry at all. "So am I supposed to behave myself around you, now that you're a prefect?" Because she wasn't going to.
And there was another voice she recognised and another one that brought a smile to her face. "Hey Sal."
Mia would have given him a hug too but he was too busy stuffing his face as usual. "I had a great summer." Mmhmm oh boy did she ever. "How was your summer?"
She looked between the two boys for a moment and it was apparent that they didn't know each other. "Sal. This is Finn. Finn this is Sal." Yep introductions were now done.

"You're paying yourself next time Mia." He smirked at her, as he opened his sweets and ate one. Mmm. Honey.
"Don't worry." Because he didn't really mind her not hanging out with him. He'd had a good summer without her hehe. "Well..." He grinned at her, like he was about to recite a big list of how she should behave. "Nope. Not at all." Because he knew she wouldn't anyway.
Oh. Hello new guy, who seemed to know Mia. Sal. That was his name. "Hey....it's nice to meet you."

"MIA!"
She shouted as she ran up to her and gave her a huge hug. "Have you seen Destiny or Evelyn yet?" She really needed to find them and tell them about her and Jimmy before her friends seen them together on the train.
Pulling away from the hug she looked around and seen Sal standing there too. "Oh hey Sal. How was your summer?"
It was then that she noticed someone else standing there... Someone wearing a shiny badge. "Hello there, I'm Marie." she said smiling at the boy. Hmm, maybe she could convince him to spy on someone for her. You know since he would have access to all the prefect places she couldn't go.
He stopped chomping long enough to raise an eyebrow at Mia, seeing her all smiles when she talked about her summer. "Great summer? Oh I bet." he grumbled then swallowed painfully. He had a thing or two to say about her great summer but decided to just stuff his mouth with another pastie. Not the place. Not the time.
He looked up at the other fellow Mia introduced and shook his hand "Good to meetcha Finn!" he replied. Huh why did that name sound familiar? Before he could even try to rack his memory his eyes fell on the other guy's shirt. A badge. Just like Raiden's but blue. "Prefect Finn" he corrected himself nodding slowly. "Looking forward to the new term?"
Because this Slytherin sure is
He spun his head when heard someone yelling Mia's name from down the corridor. Well whadaya know its "Marie! Good to see you again." he grinned "Oh I had a pretty exciting summer..." he replied as he touched his cheek instinctively, The frostbite pretty much healed up by now "Yup, exciting and almost profitable. Thanks partly to you." he smirked winking at the Slytherin blonde.

Well, she got distracted real quickly, didn't she? Brilliant! "Actually, yeah, but--," he was stopped from answering one question when Kurumi asked another one already. That was fast.
"Apparently they do, but they don't really exist, it's like...," a myth? a legend? No, Nargles weren't Chosens. "...something made up," yeah, clever, Lockhart boy. And he'd smile, but he feared that's all he could do when standing next to the bright Ravenclaw. "It's been proven already, there's nothing surrounding mistletoe," was it really proven, though? Treyen didn't think anyone actually took the time to research Nargles. They probably existed just because no one had taken interest in making sure they didn't.
He laughed softly, remembering the tennis shoes, "If they disappear, I'd blame someone in your Common Room instead of Nargles," or probably Peeves.

As he looked up he noticed a familiar boy standing close to them, and...picking up another copy of The Quibbler. Yeah, Treyen didn't know this paper was that popular nowadays. AND...Oh? Salander was frowning, while reading it! He certainly hoped Kurumi didn't catch this. Treyen wanted to hint Salander to knock it off, but he didn't know how to do it without gaining Kurumi's attention.
So, instead, he made Kurumi focus on the paper even more.
Harley was oblivious to the fact that the boy couldn't hear what she was saying and to the fact that he probably didn't care what she was saying. He'd only asked her to move out the way. She shrugged continuing to look him up and down waiting for a reply. And the reply that did come, not exactly the reply she was looking for. She blinked and shook her head. "Um. No. My names Harley. Y'know with a H." she thought about spelling it out for the boy but then he might think she thought he was stupid, So she decided against it. She blinked at his next statement aswell. "...What are you going on about ?"
Maxim threw his hands in the air in utter disappointment then dropped them back to his sides. What in the world was he on about? Certainly, the girl had no idea whatsoever and neither did he. "Yes, of course I know that it starts with an H.." He stated with a grim smile. Removing his hood, his long, tattooed fingers went up to his head and ran through his slightly curly hair. Ugh. He hated his hair with a passion! "So Harley, what are you doing here?" He asked, glancing around the tiny hallway stuffed with students of all ages. "Did they not have their breakfast?" He asked with a look of disgust directed at the kids buying a mass of candies. "The only thing I can bear to eat is Bertie Bott's; everything else tastes like crap." Eyebrows raised, he inherently waited for her to agree to his statement and if she didn't then whatever.
